Problem with save for Web in Action

We do hundreds of images to our fine print main client. As part of the work, they want to the final image through save for Web registered as file a .jpg and .png to 1000 pixels wide.

The problem is, if you try to create an action for this, the size of the action records is a percentage and not a width in pixels. It is therefore impossible (so it seems) to record an action that sets the scale as a sizing with a fixed output of 1000 pixels wide. Since images vary in size and he insists on registration of the size as a percentage, you can not create an action that will work.

I tried to see if there is a way to change the action to change the output of a width in pixels, but didn't see how to do it. Is it still possible? We would save TONS of not having to manually open each image twice as much work and savings for each format.

Yes, there is a bug with this script.

The bug got into CS5 and was not attached to the CS6.

You can download the fixed script here...

  • production batch Photoshop - issues with 'save for web '.

    Hello

    I'm having a problem with "save for web" on a lot. I have just spent the last 2 hours searching the web and this forum and although the question is addressed, threading or suddenly go in another direction, end, or I just can't give a sense of the answers given.

    I have 350 images I want to resize the thumbnails and then save it to the web. 2 hours ago, this seemed to be a 5 minute job.

    I create an action called "batch_thumbnail" and press "Record."

    I then select 'File' > 'Open' and select an image to open the dialog box.

    I then select 'Image' > 'Image size' and resize the image to the size of the thumbnail (200 x 125) and press 'OK '.

    I then select 'File' > 'Save for Web and devices', set my optimization settings and press "Save".

    Using the dialog box that opens, I navigate to a pre-created directory called "thumbs" and press "Save".

    I then select 'File' > 'Close' and on the dialog box that opens, I select 'don't save '.

    I then stop the Save action.

    So far so good.

    I then select 'File' > 'Automaton' > 'batch... ". "and the dialog box is displayed.

    I select my action to the 'Action' of the menu drop down.

    In "Source", I put the drop down "File" menu, select "Choose" and select target directory with my 350 images in.

    In 'Destination', I put the drop down "File" menu, select 'Choose' and select the target (inches) directory, where I wish to record the inches.

    "File name' I leave the first box under"name of document", set the seconds to"_thumb"and the third"extended. "

    I then click 'OK '.

    And that's where the problem starts. Everything works fine until he tries to save the second image. I can see what is happening, as the directory name path and image that are used while setting up the SFW action part, get into hard action. So each resulting image is saved in the same file, instead of being substituted by the "File Naming" settings.

    I tried selecting "Override action"Save"commands", but it makes no difference. It is actually possible batch to produce files using "save for Web and devices '?

    See you soon,.

    James

    First of all, unless you have a compelling reason to record a "Open" command, you should not...

    In addition, since save it for Web is an export command, THIS command is your backup... you don't want to select a destination because the destination is already stored in the save for Web.

    You want to save a close without saving... otherwise all 350 images will eventually be opened in Photoshop, after the batch is executed.

  • The file size huge with save for Web, but an excerpt is ok

    Hello

    I Googled, but not found anything about this but I have the same problem on my computer and also on colleagues from computer so it seems that it should not be completely unknown.

    That's what I do

    1 open an eps file, the logo of a single color, the 72 dpi, size 110 x 21

    2 save for web

    3. Select png-24 format. Said overview file size ~1.3 kB

    4 save-> actual size of the file on disk is 4 k (IE 3 times larger than it should be)

    5 preview and click right then in the browser + save the image under gives correct the size of the file (on my colleagues computer, this does not work, it always receives the right size)

    I also tried with gif and various settings, etc. image sizes and the result is the same.

    I use Windows Vista 32-bit and Photoshop CS4.

    Is this a known issue?

    Thank you

    so this is the metadata that are added, if you set the drop-down list of metadata to zero, you should get more small files

  • Export of that multiple work plans with save for Web?

    Is there a way to do this?

    Doesn't seem to be unless you export rather than save it for the web.

  • GIF/save for Web problem (PSE 7)

    I tried searching for an answer to this problem, but nothing seems to fix everything that happens.

    Recently, I had to replace my laptop and from Windows XP to Windows 7.  I transferred the PSE 7 from the old system to the new system and have had no problems with it - until now.  I have an image in format Photoshop 52 - layer I want to save as an animated .gif, with each layer as a different image.  File > > Save As has the ability to save layers as frames, but if I check it, then click on 'Save', nothing happens.  Nothing at all.  On my old system, I would get a new dialogue with options like the quality, duration by frame, loop, etc., but that doesn't happen any more, and there is nothing to save (if I'm going to find the new .gif file, it's just not there). If I do not choose "Layers in images", dialogue .gif does so very well and it has no difficulty to save it as a static .gif file.  But it seems that she won't just save it in animated format.

    I'm having the same problem with "save for Web".  Or the option of the file menu or typing command will bring up dialogue to let me record this way.  He thinks maybe a second, but does nothing else and does not record the image.

    I tried to reset the layout, just in case the dialog box has been moved somewhere that I wasn't just to see and I tried to reset the preferences to save it for the Web, but none of these things worked.  No explanation as to why a .gif animation 'layers as images"is the only format that is not saving correctly?

    I also tried old connections animated that I created with XP, and they will not re - save as animation connections either opening.  I get her "do you want to save changes" dialogue, but clicking on 'Yes' does nothing and does not record updates.  I am at a total loss for why this feature no longer works.

    If you right click on the shortcut of items and choose Run as administrator,

    It does make a difference or not save for Web work?

    Registration of the Web dialogue box is the same dialog box that you would get when checking the layers as frames

    in the Save as dialog box.

  • Slow CS5 Photoshop save for Web (Win 7, 64-bit)

    Hello.

    I have problem with save for web in PS CS5 (12.0.1). It is extremely slow. Whatever it is for example the selection of the menu takes a few seconds. I deleted PS preferences files, but that did not help.

    Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

    Thank you.

    My system is Win7 x 64, Intel i7 930, 8 GB of RAM.

    Not sure it makes a difference which I use a trial version of Photoshop CS5 (windows 7). I had the same problem, it turns out that Suitcase Fusion was the cause.

    Since version 3, it supports the automatic activation of fonts in Photoshop (versions earlier supported InDesign and Illustrator). Closure of base of suitcase (which must be running in the background) solved the problem.
    Leaving the kernel running and disable the Photoshop plugin worked. It still gives me automatic activation in InDesign and Illustrator.

    Suitcase must do something for my card Nvidia 9500GT, like roll back to an older driver, while leaving the core running solves the problem for a while.

    I hope this helps.

  • difficult to save for web

    I'm currently having problems when registering for the web in Adobe Illustrator CC 2015. I've never had this problem on previous versions.

    I quite often use 'Save for Web' to create images jpg and png to my work, and since the last update to this fundamental task crashed Illustrator over and over again. I turned off the GPU performance and re-installed the program twice since the update. One more picture of 1000 x 1000 px or any attempt to save the JPG images at a high quality result in the program crashing in the box 'save for Web '. Is there something that I am missing? I'm running OSX Yosemite 10.10.3, and my computer is fairly recent, would be - that something with the graphics?

    This is a problem since the update and has prevented me from working at my normal speed. I wish I could get back to my normal work schedule now and spend less time looking for answers.

    Try to use only the export on the file menu to work around the problem. Save for Web is drizzled in CC2015.

  • Where the file is saved when I "save for Web?

    When I'm with 'save for web', (AI 2014 CC), I get a "Save" button, but no button "save under". " After hitting the 'Save', I can't locate the new file on my drive. What is the trick?

    John,

    Maybe it's time for the list: obviously, you should give the opportunity to the save location. unless it's a new feature just send it somewhere on the internet.

    The following is a general list of things, try when the question is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by problems with opening a file from external media. You tried/made some of them already; 1 and 2) are easier for temporary strangenesses and 3) and 4) specifically preferences might be corrupt); ((5) is a list in itself and 6) is the last resort.

    If possible / there is, you must record a current work first, of course.

    (1) close Illy and open again.

    (2) restart the computer (you can make up at least 5 times);

    (3) close Illy and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift / Cmd + Option + shift during startup (easy, but irreversible);

    4) move the folder (follow the link with this name) with closed Illy (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you can find the file here:

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Illustrator/KB/preference-file-location-Illustrator.html

    5 look through and try the relevant among the other options (click on the link with that name, item 7) is a list of the usual suspects among other applications which can disturb and confuse Illy, point 15) applies to the maybe CS5, CS6 and CC);

    Even worse, you can:

    (6) (check the box to delete the preferences), run the cleanup tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC) to uninstall and reinstall.

  • CS3: Having problems creating an Action to "save for Web".

    Hi all

    I am creating an Action to convert my psd. files to JPEG is suitable for the web.  I use a Mac Pro CS3 running.  My work space Adobe RGB (1998), all files start as Canon RAW CR2, are published in 16-bit and then saved as a psd.  I created an Action following an open psd. image in Photoshop:

    (1) Windows > Actions

    (2) create new Action

    (3) renamed 'save for Web' and then click on registration

    (4) image > duplicate > OK

    (5) Edition > convert to profile

    (6) changed Destination space sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1 > OK

    (7) file > save as

    (8) format > option JPEG no?  What?

    Everything seemed fine until I reached the stage of Format.  I had a lot of choices, but JPEG was not one of them.  Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?  Thank you!

    They must be 8 bits. But why do you use Save as instead of "save for web"?

  • Save for Web action CC 2015

    Hello

    I just created an Action to help with batch save images for the web. I have several hundred photos I need to reduce and put on a Web site.

    • I can go through the process manually and everything works fine.
    • I created an action, according to the manual process, and it does not work.
    • I also tried to run the action as a batch command and I get the error message "does not recognize the Export command.  I understand that it is obvious that the action does not work, but I thought I would try it anyway.

    Someone had problems with the creation of an action or with batch save for Web and how did you get around it if you please.

    Thank you

    George

    I'm on Win 10. Where do you work, do not forget this: when measures registration do not change the file name when recording and save to the folder where you want to save the files when batch processing option because: Override Action "save under" commands will not work for the reason that you do not save (command) step in your action.

  • How to 'save for web' with information from a dataset

    I created psd to design web page set up with a master image.  The main image is defined as a pixel replacement variable and uses a dataset to load in images of a local folder.  I have more than 100 images in this folder and I need to resize the image to 250 pixels wide and "save for web".   Resizing and registration is easy with an action, but the thing, it's that I need to use a different column in my DataSet as the name of the saved files.

    Is it possible to create an action that will loop through each row in my dataset, do the replacement of pixel on the image, enter the name of the file in the next column, flatten & resize the image and then save it as the file name?  Of course, would cancel the flattening and resizing to start on the next line.

    I guess I could break in two actions.  One who reads the dataset, to replace the pixels and export for the web with the new file name.  Then I could set up a second action to run in batch on the folder that contains the images recently exported and just resize all the.

    I don't know how (if it is even possible) is to loop through the dataset by using the action, get the variable of the object dataset for file name and export for the web with that name.  Any ideas?  Thank you.

    Here's a function I use. With this function, you can import a CSV dataset to your document. Get names of groups of data csv form. Then in a loop applies a set of data by name, and then save as in any format you like. The loop repeats until all sets of data are processed.

    fileImportDataSets = function( file ) {
        var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
            var ref = new ActionReference();
            ref.putClass( stringIDToTypeID( "dataSetClass" ) );
        desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID( "null" ), ref );
        desc.putPath( charIDToTypeID( "Usng" ), new File( file ) );
        desc.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID( "Encd" ), stringIDToTypeID( "dataSetEncoding" ), stringIDToTypeID( "dataSetEncodingAuto" ) );
        desc.putBoolean( stringIDToTypeID( "eraseAll" ), true );
        desc.putBoolean( stringIDToTypeID( "useFirstColumn" ), true );
    executeAction( stringIDToTypeID( "importDataSets" ), desc, DialogModes.NO );
    };
    function applyDataSet(setName);{
        var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
            var setRef = new ActionReference();
            setRef.putName( stringIDToTypeID( "dataSetClass" ), setName );
        desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID( "null" ), setRef );
    executeAction( charIDToTypeID( "Aply" ), desc, DialogModes.NO );
    };
    function getDataSetNames(csvFileRef) {
        _ftn = function(string){
        var csvItems = string.split(",");
        datasetName = csvItems[0]
        return datasetName;
    };
    csvFileRef.open();
    var datasetArray = new Array();
    var i = 0;// assumes the dataSet name is the first field
    while (csvString = csvFileRef.readln()) {
       if (csvString.length < 2) continue; // Skip empty lines
      datasetArray[i] = _ftn(csvString);
      i++;
    }
    csvFileRef.close();
    return datasetArray;
    }

    //sample usage
    var csvFileRef = File.openDialog("Please select CSV file");
    var datasetNames = getDataSetNames(csvFileRef);
    alert(datasetNames.length-1);//number of data sets
    alert(datasetNames[1]);// first data set name
