Problema de Nic Teaming with blades Hp

Hola a todos.

I have a problema in una instalacion con unos blades HP BL460.

OS as tengo lo cuento.

  • 1 chassis C3000.

  • 3 con BL460 4 red cards.

  • 2 Gbe2c Ethernet switches

  • 1 Cisco switch para toda the electronica.

Las Vmnic0 Tarjetas y Vmnic1 estan conectadas a primer of al Gbe2c.

Vmnic2 y estan conectadas al segundo Gbe2c, UN gráfico transcontine os Vmnic3.

Created HE UN VSwitch para las Máquinas con VM Red

cards:

  • Vmnic0 - Activo

  • Vmnic1 - Activo

  • Vmnic2 - passivo

1 - if deshabilito los puertos del Gbe2c products con prueba las tarjetas Vmnic0 y

Vmnic1, las comunicaciones pasan a Vmnic2 sin problemas.

Prueba 2 - If deshabilito los enlaces between el primer Gbe2c y el Cisco, to corta Comunicación, no pasa a Vmnic2.

Test 3 - if in turn to the config dejo esta earlier:

  • Vmnic0 - Activo

  • Vmnic2 - passivo

Al cortar los enlaces

between el primer GBe2c y el Cisco, conmuta correctamente

a Vmnic2, are what should pasar back promotion prueba en are only dejan ver el Gateway.

How puedo hacer para as having Vmnic0 y Vmnic1 running en

Activo, any one Vmnic2 in case of failure?

A greeting.

Hola,

Te lo cuento memoria, porque estos dias viaje estoy, pero la cosa era asi:

Deshabilitas los puertos 17 y 18 (no se TR en el clase C so Tambi estos los puertos del crosslink)

say/cfg/port 17

/ cfg/UFD/FDP ena (enable the funcion)

LTM (link to follow)

addtrnk o Add a port nn (idicar el puerto o trunk ports a monitorizar)

/ cfg/UDF/FDP/Ltd

Add a port nn (mallards ports that you want to disable in the case of los indicados en ltm caida)

  • NIC teaming with the IP hash load balancing

    Hi guys

I have a virtual machine with a VMXNET3 10 Gbps. It is usually have a heavy traffic with a special server and saturate one of my two physical NIC of 1 Gbps in its PortGroup. I want to know what's going to happen if I turn on "NIC Teaming for this portgroup with basic IP hash load balancing". In my case the source IP address and destination are not change so the aggregates of traffic between my two physical network adapters?

To avoid saturating completely the two 1GbE NIC, it can also be useful to look in charge based on the grouping and the NIOC. It will ensure that the other streams of traffic VM are not crushed by this machine a virtual when it saturates a network card. The disadvantage is that it requires Enterprise Plus licenses (using a dvSwitch).

  • Override the port NIC teaming with powercli group?

    Hi all

Any chance you could lend a hand?

I have a powercli script that goes out to all of my ESX 4.0 host and add a new port group to vswitch1 with a new VLAN ID. That works well, but I also need to override the NIC teaming on this port group, to set an active NIC and the other to be the backup. (we put NIC failover port groups not the vswitches).

I see ways to change NIC vswitches grouping settings, but am yet to find a way to change the settings of the NIC collection for groups of ports themselves with powercli?

    Can someone shine a light?

    Thank you

    Try something like:

    Get-VirtualPortGroup-name '' | Get-NicTeamingPolicy | Game-NicTeamingPolicy - MakeNicActive "vmnic1" - MakeNicStandby "vmnic0".

    I hope this helps!

  • NIC teaming + with leaves HP VirtualConnect and Cisco load balancing

    Hello

I configure ESX infrastructure running on the blades HP (c7000 enclosure), VirtualConnect and Cisco 3750 switches for the uplink. My network configuration is based on the HP VirtualConnnect Cookbook, scenario 11.

On the ESX Server, I configured a vSwitch with two NICs grouped. Each card can see a different network of VirtualConnect. Each VC network has active SmartLink.

Each network of VirtualConnect is associated with two ports on a Bay of VC. These two ports are the uplinks in Cisco 3750 switches. Cisco switches are configured in a pile, and each port associated with the VC network is configured with LACP.

    Here are the facts:

-Each network (Host A and host B) is properly configured for the LACP Protocol, in other words, the links are shown as active/active in the VC Manager.

    -Communication of ESX is good.

    -Failover and failback function OK.

The problem: I can't get the load balancer to work. All virtual machines use a single bear. I tried different algorithms on the server ESX (source port ID, mac, IP hash hash) and the configuration of the equivalent from Cisco.

I have attached a diagram of the physical network, but also the setting to ports.

What Miss me? Thank you very much

    Pablo

Because you want to create technically not a channel in an ESX perspective, you do want to use the hash of the IP.  If ESX attempts to send traffic through the two network cards, the cisco switch should drop this package as part of its loop avoidance algorithms.  You should be able to check that out in the switch port statistics.  You should not use the switch port ID.

Not sure about the promiscuous mode.  Who do not have any account, as far as load balancing is concerned, unless the portgroup was not properly inherit the vSwitch properties?

  • NIC Teaming with PowerEdge R410

I'm trying to configure the grouping on the 2 network cards on the server, I read things on the BINS (Broadcom Advance Control Suite) and it assumes that, have the BASP (Broadcom Advanced Server Program) incorporated, but has not, I try to download the utility on the site of Broadcom, but when I try to install they throw me the following error :

and the same error appears when you try to install the driver.

    What should I do?

    Hello osunar

Use the driver on our download page. BINS installed with the driver. If you have problems installing the driver so please provide the name of the file you are trying to install, the operating system and model of network card.

  • Windows 2008 VM and NIC teaming with ether channel

    Hello

I installed ESXi on an IBM ThinkServer TD100x and that you have created two VM, Windows 2003 Std (32 bit) and Windows Server 2008.

Both were works well on the network and the ping requests until I have configure Cisco Channel ether using the road based on the source mac hash. The Windows 2003 VM worked very well and was still on the network, but the Windows 2008 VM loses network connectivity, couldn't out ping.

Are there known issues with Windows 2008 and grouping of NETWORK cards?

You will need to use the hash of the IP with Etherchannel (manual), LACP (static) or 802.3ad (static) trunking.

  • NIC teaming on HP Blade

I use HP Blades as my servers to host ESX 3.5 update 3. I have only 2 NETWORK ports on each host and I would like to implement the NIC teaming, but I'm confused on whether I would run into any problems if the vmnic should fail.

I set up vswtich0 with three groups of ports - the primary NETWORK card for my Console Service (VLAN12) and port groups Vmotion (VLAN3) is vmnic0 with vmnic1 failover

I also created another group of ports for the VMservers vmnetwork (no VLANs) on vswitch0 with vmnic1 as a principal port with vmnic0 my failover group.

What concerns me, is the port group settings switch to vmnic1? For example, if vmnic0 tilt vmnic1, will I run into issues because the Service Console is running on VLAN12 and Vmotion works on VLAN3, and vice versa with the port vmnetwork group.

    Hello

You will need to implement VST where you master all the VLAN to the vSwitch through each Teddy.

  • NIC teaming and aggregation rate

    Hello

I need help on configuring NIC teaming on our ESX. We have a HP Server with 6 network adapters I already configured the vSwitch for VMkernal, VMotion and Service Console.

Now, since the ESX will run at various Web servers I want to do is aggregate throughput of EPS of 1 GB to give me a flow of 4 GB total. What I've done is created a vSwitch and alllocated 4 NICs to the switch and created a port called 'Prod LAN' and receives the NIC 4, also on our Cisco switch I trunked 4 ports.

What else do I need to do to make sure that I have configured correctly the NICs, so that when we assign the network adapters on the virtual Web server computer it can use aggregate 4 GB throughput. Also that I also want to make sure, if some fail NIC 1,2 or 3, I always have speed on the port.

    Thank you very much...

Duncan has identified the problem above with what you are proposing.  You may agree with your config if a physical switch entire fails but as stated above, if you lose an single link on one of the aggregates that ESX will add a unique link from the passive cluster causing the switch to become crazy.

  • UCS C200 and NIC Teaming/FailOver

As UCS C200 with management of a 10/100 and 10/100/two interface 1000 interfaces and PCIe with 4NIC

I want to install CUCM 8.5 is the NIC Teaming/failover supported by UCS C200 and how to set up the NIC Managment interface with failover?

    Thank you.

    Hello

As you install apps from the CPU on the server of the UCS, speech application team listed their recommendations here.

    http://docwiki.Cisco.com/wiki/QoS_Design_Considerations_for_Virtual_UC_with_UCS#Guidelines_for_Physical_LAN_Links.2C_Trunking_and_Traffic_Sizing

You can create a NIC teaming in the ESXi via vSphere client software for traffic from from / destined for virtual machines.

For C200, we have only one management port and if you use the management for MMIC traffic port, switch option is not available.

However, if you choose to use host for MMIC traffic NETWORK ports, you can set up CIMC NIC mode for 'LOM shared' which provides the NIC teaming options.

  • Are these viable designs for NIC teaming on UCS C-Series?

Is this a viable design on ESXi 5.1 on UCS C240 with 2 Quad port nic cards?

Option A) VMware consolidation of NIC with the load balancing of interfaces vmnic in an configuration active/active through alternate and redundant physical paths to the network.

Option B) VMware consolidation of NIC with the load balancing of the interfaces in a configuration vmnic Active/Standy by alternate and redundant paths of material to the network.

    Option A:

    Option B:

    Thank you.

She really comes down to what means active/active N ° and type of switches upstream.  For ESXi NIC teaming - Active/Active load balancing provided the opportunity for all network links be active for devices different comments.  Grouping can be configured in a few different methods.  The default value is by ID of virtual port where each guest computer is assigned to an active port and then also a spare port.  Traffic to this host would be only sent on a connection at a time.

For example, suppose 2 Ethernet connections and 4 guests on the ESX host.  Link 1 for switch 1 would be active for 1 and 2 and 2 link to switch 2 backup for 1 and 2.  However 2 link to switch 2 would be active for 3 guests and 4 and 1 link 1 switch backup for 1 and 2 comments.

The following provides details on the configuration of the card NETWORK is teaming up with VMWare:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=1004088

There are also opportunities for LACP configuration in some situations, but there is a material special considerations on the side of the switch, but also on the host side.

Keep in mind that the vSwitch does not blindly broadcast/multicast/unknown unicast on all ports.  He has a strict set of rules that prevents loopback.  It is not a traditional L2 redirector so loops are not taken into account in an active/active environment.

  • iSCSI / vmkernel multipathing vs NIC teaming

    Hello

I know of Configuration of VMware SAN Guide provides information about how to configure iSCSI multipath with vmkernel interfaces double on various uplinks.

What are the disadvantages of using basic NIC teaming instead? Just an interface of vmkernel on a vswitch (d) with two uplinks. It will work properly about redundancy and failover?

    Kind regards

I guess the difference is while using "Port Binding" iSCSI initiator uses vSphere Pluggable Storage Architecture to handle the load balancing/redundancy, that can make better use of multiple paths to NETWORK card available. Otherwise, the initiator will use vmkernel stack ensures redundancy network and balancing in the same way as a normal network traffic.

I suggest that you look at the great post on iSCSI multi-vendor, I think the 2 statements below will summarize the difference:

    "

    • However, the biggest gain of performance allows the storage system to scale the number of network adapters available on the system. The idea is that multiple paths to the storage system can make better use multiple paths, he has at his disposal than the consolidation of NETWORK cards on the network layer.
    • If each physical NETWORK adapter on the system looks like a port to a path to the storage, the storage path selection policies can make best use of them.

  • NIC Teaming ESXi 4.0 recommendations

    Hi everyone-

A very easy for you, but just need another opinion.  I have several hosts in my current environment of the virtual machine.  I add over several hosts.  Good grouping network adapters as well as the good deligation of the NIC issue.  What we have to work with-> 4 Integrated NIC (vmnic0-3), 4 network interface cards PCI (vmnic4-7), 4 (vmnic8-11) PCI network interface cards.  Not new in the world of the VM, but new to implement environmental...

The current provision in the existing NETWORK adapter is as follows:

vmnic0/vmnic3-> teamed for console Mgmt (vSwitch0)

    vmnic2, vmnic4, vmnic5-> available to the virtual machine (vSwitch1)

It was setup by an admin before vm and I do not have a warm and fuzzy about how the management console is associated with and worries me because in my documentation, it States a specific nic should be designated for the vmotion, correct?  And this isn't on here too, even if the vMotion is enabled.

What I would do is this way for team management console NIC

vmnic0/vmnic4-> where NIC card breaks down, PCI NIC is ready and capable and vice versa (fault tolerance)

Should I activate all the network adapters on the host?  Which would give me 2 integrated and available for the VM PCI 8.  I guess the network cards more better but sometimes too much of a good thing is bad...  Also is there a specific way to designate 2 just NIC for vMotion or is only a mute point?

    Thank you for your comments.

    > vmnic0 / vmnic4-> in the case where NIC card breaks down, PCI NIC is ready and able, and vice versa (fault tolerance)

Yes, it's better than vmnic0/vmnic3 (of one physical chip)

    > Should I use all the network adapters on the host?

Depends on what you want. Too many network cards will give nothing, except hedache if all VM traffic can be transmitted through 1 Gbit link without performance degradation.

    > Also is there a specific way to designate 2 just NIC for vMotion or is only a mute point?

Use NIC teaming personal - seam vmnic1/vmnic5 as active/active or active / standby for VMkernel on vMotion portgroup.

    Hey again,

Sometimes a problem with Firefox can be a result of malware installed on your computer, you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP, if you do not already have one.
