Problems of 7250us dv7 HP Envy 2nd installation drive

I recently cloned my 1 TB HARD drive for an SSD (500 GB) or basically restored to it using Acronis and it finally worked, but then I tried to install the original drive 1 TB in the 2nd Drive Bay, but when the 2nd connector is plugged into the second location of SATA, the power button does not work.  I pull the plug and the power button is working again.  I couldn't find anything in the BIOS you have to start to recognize the second disk.  Clues?

Thank you

Wendell Fry

It must be a short power into this connector, I think you're right. If the cable is connected somehow it shorts to the Commission.

    Hello

I want to install a 2nd hard drive in my laptop (my lappie has 2-Bay hard drive) so I started to do some research, but I'm a little confused as to the type, I need to buy. One who moved with my laptop is a Hitachi Travelstar 5K 250 (250GB) but looking at the Hitachi site, there are several different versions of this model. The version number that came with my laptop is a Hitachi HTS542525K9SA00.

I really want to install a 500 GB drive in 2nd Bay, but even though I know that the drive that I need is a SATA I'm not for sure if connections in the HARD drive Bay are of a standard type. I looked at all the specs on the Toshiba site on my laptop but they don't give me much information.

Looking at the manual of the A300 to the 2nd hard drive Bay is not even mentioned and from Toshiba Web site lists only the options for external hard drive that I find a little confused, considering that my lappie has 2 internal hard drive bays!

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello

You usually have a SATA 2.5 HARD.
The connectors must be the same.

I saw another thread regarding the second location of HARD drive and it seems that your laptop is supported by this connector. If this controller is available, it must be a SATA controller.

How did you add it? Where's the hardware mounting hard disk? In any State of cause, assuming that you have installed a hard drive was bought, it would be empty and needs be initialized (mounted) and formatted. To find computer or this PC in the right click menu... Choose manage, disk management and you will see a Visual representation of the hard drives. It can automatically prompts you to initialize the disk. Once do you that and format it in ntfs and assign a drive letter and the name of the volume, it will appear in the computer as a lettered drive.

  • Problem with the Canon LBP 1120 printer installation driver

    Hello

I have a machine running 64-bit vista Home premium. and I have a Canon LBP-1120 printer. This printer is in good shape and I don't want to buy another printer.
But the problem is that the only driver that there is, is for Vista 32 bit. And when I try to install, I get the error message saying that I need 64-bit drivers.
I'll be happy even with basic print function because I do not do more printing.
Looked everywhere on the web... good .no

    1. are you able to print successfully?

    3. What were the recent hardware changes performed on the computer before the question software ro?

A Windows Vista 64 Bit operating system is compatible in installation of 32-bit drivers. All the 64-bit version operating systems have the ability to run 32-bit applications, but on a version 32-bit operating system, you are limited to only 32-bit software.

According to the information on the website of Canon, Canon provides only the 32-bit drivers for Canon LBP 1120 printer, 64-bit drivers are always expected. To improve assistance to the topic to download driver 64 bit I ask you to contact Canon.

  • DV7-4280us - Bay of disk HARD 2nd vacuum has no visible connection to a 2nd HARD drive.

My laptop Pavilion DV7 and previous DV8 had two bays for HARD drives, one of them wired to a hard drive, but not containing is not a hard disk at the time of purchase.  I expect the same thing when I ordered this Pavilion DV7-4280us, which is, I think, made in China, but I have not the same.  This one came without visible connectors for the hard drive, I had already bought to install into the empty Bay.  My Technical Support call made me advice to buy a disc kit hard (with caddy & connections) from HP, as if the receive connectors were available in the drive Bay HARD vacuum.  I didn't not agree because (and the next two paragraphs I added so that the well-intentioned forum members continue to give me the standard answer for laptops which actually have the usual connectors & waiting in the drive Bay HARD 2nd vacuum.  I appreciate the two forum members who have offered help so far, but there is no need to waste more based on my failure to clarify the problem):

There is NO METAL NAKED INTO THE BAY VOID that COULD CONNECT a HARD disk.
UNLESS A NEW CONNECTOR GOES TO THE MOTHERBOARD HARD DRIVE, IT IS USELESS FOR THIS COMPUTER.

Each HARD drive connector I've seen only connects the HARD drive to a connector in the HARD drive Bay.

The connector of the latter reaches the motherboard, and that the connector does not exist in this 2nd computer HARD disc Bay.

Even if I could get a cable to connect a HARD drive to an unused connection & waiting on the M-Board, I can't M-Board.  M-Board is inside a barrier which could be called the bottom of the laptop - external surface of the portable computer.  (Battery and bays for HARD drives are outside the confines of the current computer, the value in their own hollow spaces in the bottom panel, with secondary coverage on the hollow spaces, i.e. the bays for HARD drives and storage media).  I looked for a way really open the casing and expose the M-Council connection for 2nd HARD drive (IF it exists); but I didn't know how to do it.  It is clear to me that this is not intended to be a facility run by the user. But I would if HP (or maybe even a 3rd party who made it) provided some good instructions.

I'd like to think that HP did not make this change to the line DV7 laptops to double HARD drive, and that the Chinese manufacturer made the change without approval or even knowledge of the management of HP.  I want to believe that because he was, at best, a really stupid thing for HP to the customers who pay for the best HP can provide.

So my questions are the following:

    1. The motherboard in this computer still has the ability to manage a 2nd hard drive?
    2. If 'NO', then HP would be willing to take over this very disappointing computer in Exchange to a DV7 which is equipped with HARD drive connectors available in the 2nd, empty, Bay?
    3. If 'YES', then
    4. HP or someone else would be willing to provide connectors, and instructions for me,
    5. OR install the missing connection to the drive for me, Bay
    6. While, in both cases 4 or 5, I can install a HARD drive in the Bay, empty 2nd drive reasonably, I expected when I ordered this computer?

All my apologies and thanks to KaLin0908, who responded so quickly and helped me realize that my original description was not clear enough.  I hope that my changes to clarify the problem have not ruined the tone of my call.  I'm aiming for "clear and grateful."  If this revision reads as Loud or Yelling or abrasive or anything else bad, I'd appreciate any suggestions to improve it.

    I have the same computer.

At first seems like you say but

If you look carefully the second Bay of hd, you will see 4 small holes

Those who are for the hard drive caddy, you can buy that and it's expensive

You should also buy a hd cable, but be careful, there must be about 5 inches long

The cable for 1 hard disk does not work

One end goes on the hard drive and the other going to the MB. The connection is planned

    for the memory modules

The kit costs about $ 45. If bought at hp and about 35 if purchased by another company

This will give you an idea of where/how the screws connect to the caddy

  • Discs of recovery, or vanilla Windows Installer on Q770 and 2nd HARD drive

The Qosmio Q770 need to reinstall windows,

At thining use the disks of recovery, or just vanilla win 7 and then add drivers, I need.

issue with recovery disks it will affect the 2nd hard drive because that's where all my data?

    Thank you

    LoonyT

In my opinion, you must install Windows using the original recovery disk. It is much easier and you do not install all the drivers, tools and utilities. All this is included in the recovery image. After installation of recovery image simply configure OS and you can remove applications that you don't need.

I force test but I m pretty sure second disk will not be changed, just the main hard drive so your data must be secured. You can make backup anyway.

  • HP Envy h8 - 1400z: lack the 2nd hard drive after windows update

Discount Windows 8 for us solve a problem.  Before the update, I had two drives of 1 TB.  The first hard drive was for the OS C: and D: for the recovery partition.  The second disc has a partition called E: and has been used for data.

After the update, I still have my partitions C: and D: as before on my first hard drive.   However, no D:.  Using disk management, the first hard disk is visible and it has C: and D:, as well as a few other partitions I do not recognize but appear to be associated with the update. Disk management does not show the second hard drive.

Starting in UEFI shows the 2nd disc and it is recognized as a 1 TB drive and I have no reason to believe that the drive has failed.

Did some research and see that others have lost a partition during the refresh, but the road is still visible in disk management.   Their problem is resolved by assigning a drive letter.  However, this does not work for me because the operating system does not see the drive.

Is it possible that refresh changed my disks in raid 1?  How I check that?  Other thoughts on how I can get my drive back?

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi there @AVperson

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that after a cooling a HDD is no longer appears in disk management. I'm happy to help you.

Since it does not appear in the BIOS but not in the operating system, let me start with a few BIOS tests on two hard drives. In fact, I suggest doing all the tests of material.

I see no reason for a system spontaneously create a RAID where there were none before. If the system was a RAID on the second drive would be a mirror of the first, and it must always appear in disk management.

After testing the system, you can always try remove the second disc and test it using a disk external drive bay on another device and see if it is readable.

Let me know what you find.

Pavilion dv7-3060us computer has a 2nd hard drive Bay.  On 2 flags of 17.3 inches previous, I installed a 2nd HDD.  This quad core Pavilion is much thinner than the previous pavilions;  the underside of the computer has also a centre piece in the form of "T" in the Panel without screw - is a pop on the access panel or the entire bottom panel needs to be removed through the perimeter screws?  Still trying to find a manual showing this particular case - no luck so far.  The downloaded HP

Manual for the previous dv-7 is for the case of style like unless I missed something.

Install an SSD soon - would like to have all the "stuff" to install a 2nd drive hard if possible.  Anything I should be aware of before perform this procedure?  Don't really want to remove all the merits of the case.

I appreciate the help.  The Caddy is the same that I used before (on the 1st dv7) the 2nd dv7 used the direct taking of 90 degrees into the adapter.  I have both of these me more allotted a 500 GB HD.  All I need pickup is the SSD.

The "T" sign on the back of my case has no screws - but I can see the 3 component tabs snap at the top of the "T" through the small crack on the case.  These are shown on the exploded view of repair.  I'm projecting from the 'snap-out' Panel down on the vertical leg of the "T".

    Hello

That s just to change the BIOS settings in the BIOS!
I think that the BIOS settings are placed in the last page of the BIOS (3).

Try setting the 1RAID-0 on the first HARD disk and the 2RAID-0 the second HARD disk.

It worked well on my laptop.

By the way; information on the RAID configuration found in the user manual.

    Have a nice day ;)

Would be - that the problem be attributed to the speed (7200) faster or the power supply to the new HARD drive?

The service guide says that you have a hard drive configuration 2 x 320 GB 5400 RPM, but I don't think that the speed must be at 5400 RPM. However, the speed of the two drives should be the same I guess. As 2 x 7200 rpm or 2 x 5400 RPM...

Have you tried the Drive Fitness Test as suggested Akuma? You can check the HARD drive for bad sectors.

CHKDSK isn't identical to the DFT and it can t detect errors on the HARD drive. Please run DFT to determine if the problem is the HDD, or not associated with.

    Size Bay bays Total

    13.33 cm (5.25 inches) ODD1
    8,89 cm (3.5 inch) HARD drive1

One is occupied by the HARD drive and the other by the DVD recorder.  If you want to add a disk, I suggest buying a USB 3.0 external drive.
