problems of storage (mac + clouds)

Part 1: hard disk storage

When apple forced us all switch to the pictures that I did, but I don't check the setting in the preferences "optimize", and now I realize why I should have. This is not yet the value of the year in photos and I was careful: some days I don't take pictures, and the days where I really, I immediately go through them and throw everything that I need to keep. Only, I went and checked 'optimize' in the settings of the picture, but now what? How can I free up space on my hard drive?

Part 2: cloud storage

I really liked how iPhoto allow you to organize photos by events, and I happily use this system for years, until what we were all forced to move. OK, I know, we can still use iPhoto, but it is phased out, that's what I mean: I must follow. In any case, I have several years worth of iPhoto albums that live on an external hard drive and nowhere else. I want what they saved on the cloud, just in case the reader is never bad, I just upgraded my iCloud plan terabyte storage (and what happens when THAT runs out, incidentally? Is there an infinite plan?) Anyway, I've successfully copied some of my old iPhoto albums, and then I got a message saying I was out of storage space. I checked my settings of cloud and no, I still have a lot of free space, but I am not able to transfer files. I get a message saying I don't have enough storage space.

Exactly how you copy photos to your iCloud-storage space.
