Problems of Windows 7 - can I go back to XP after Vista-XP-Win 7 upgrades?

I had XP.  It worked.  I've upgraded to Vista 2 years back which took a few weeks of BSOD to operate.  Vista has always been slower than XP so I just put again to Windows 7 any pending improvements performance claimed - or at least be no worse off.  I ran the Upgrade Advisor and there is no reported problem.  Some software has been marked as non-compatible, and so I was not surprised when it does not work.

After the upgrade, there are 2 questions that I expect not.

(Minor problem - I found that Nikon Capture NX software does not and does not always work with Windows 7.  This was not reported by the Advisor to upgrade at all.  I know - I could have looked at the Nikon Web site first - but if you need to check all the sites so 3rd party before an upgrade, which is actually the value of an Upgrade Advisor?  I use this software a lot and I bought Windows 7 in good faith only after you run the Upgrade Advisor).

Major problem - my system now BSOD randomly while it was steady but slow with Vista.  I don't have the time or desire to go through another 2 weeks of calls to technical support I've had with the Vista update.  I don't want to even start the process this time.

There is an option described in the FAQ do come back a bit in Vista.  It is not really solve my problem in the long term.  Is there a way I can go back to XP and then I can maybe try and return the Windows 7 to the retailer as "not fit for purpose" because it is not what I expected that he (i.e. work at least as well as Vista during the installation and work with the software, I expected to work with after you run the Software Advisor).  It's a real shame having spent $200 on 2 updates that leave me worse off that when I started - who does not want progress for me!

My question is to go back to where I started - XP.  I did not have energy, this time to start on another long around the diagnosis BSOD and error code checking and am not prepared to do a clean install and having to reinstall all the rest.  I did all this for Vista for 2 weeks and wouldn't do it again.  Windows 7 * Premium House is fairly and squarely a consumer product and I am more than happy to put all the work that must bring other work produced consumer goods.   The coffee machine toaster, TV, Wii, PS3, iPod etc etc all worked pretty well out of the box well!

So, please, is it a route to undo the Windows 7 and Vista updated in 1 or 2 steps and go back to XP (which was itself an upgrade of Windows 95) without spending more money or invest a lot more time?

  • Satellite L750 - Windows 10 - can I roll back to Windows 7?

I upgraded to 10 Windows in Windows 7, but I lost the wireless driver and cannot download it from anywhere (unless you know better). Also, I lost Internet Explorer. When I tried to download the system I have an updated copy even though God knows where he is.

My question is - can I roll back to Windows 7, which I was pretty happy?

As much as I know L750 is not supported for Win10 so I think that the best option for you is to go back to Win7.
After several problems with Win10, I did the same thing and I am happy now using original Win7.

  • upgrade windows 7 to windows 8, can I roll back to windows 7 using windows recovery discs 7?

I updated my windows 7 Home premium 64-bit for windows 8 pro. Now, if I want my Windows 7 can return I use my drives recovery or what other options can choose?

If you have important data on the drive, make sure that it is supported first.

If you have used all the excerpts of release exclusively for a period of time, you're likely to have accumulated data on the disk where the preview is installed. Depending on the version of Windows you're dual-boot, you will have to do a manual backup to keep these data. Tools such as an external hard drive are recommended in this scenario. If you run Windows XP, Vista, I recommend you copy all personal files to an external hard drive. The process is simple:

In Windows 8, start File Explorer

Highlight all folders in your personal folder

Click on copy on the Ribbon (Home tab)

Make sure that your external hard drive is switched on and plugged in, then go to your external hard drive, then click on paste on the Ribbon (Home tab)

Insert your recovery disk, if its more than one disk, insert disk marked disc 1.

Boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen to do a reinstall.

    Hello

It should be under C:\Windows\system32, but is sometimes found in C:\Windows, and when this happens, you might get an error when calling the aero theme. The solution is to move to the system32 folder or delete it.

Also, you may have a corrupted file. Open a command prompt (click Start, type CMD and right click on the menu entry that appears, choose "Run as Administrator", click on continue in the UAC prompt). From the command line run:

    sfc/scannow

and enable it to validate all system files. This should replace or repair damaged system files. Good luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Crazy" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Windows help - www.rickrogers.org

  • Problems with WINDOWS EXPLORER, can be removed and then re-installed, if yes how?

Explorer Windows is funky, I have several questions that are difficult to explain. He has just started acting funny last week, it's almost as if he works on his own! Help, please!

    Hello Donald,.

Explorer is an integral part of Windows, and you cannot uninstall it. To answer your concerns however, I wonder if you have a malware or virus infection? To check these I recommend the following:

    Malwarebytes' anti-malware: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html.

    SuperAntiSpyware: http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html.

Most run name you use as an antivirus (I use Avast: http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html).

Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

  • TouchSmart IQ506 video problems in Windows 7 Ultimate edition.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate without any problems, but my screen flickers all the seconds (20 or more).  It is extremely annoying, and I can't install the drivers, I have download from nvidia.  She telling me that this driver does not support this video card.  I checked with GPU - Z and it signals a 9300M GS and the pilot for the series 9xxxM says that it supports.

HP, does not support Windows 7 yet, so I can't use that option and using the Windows 7 update of the generic drivers is not clear upward flicker no more.

Someone at - it their system works properly with Windows 7 yet?  Please do not force me to Vista!

    -= Mark =-

I posted this the other week, found I had the same problem - but my message has been moved by one of the host - don't know why cause not specific to the IQ PC...

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/PSG/board/message?board.ID=TouchSmartPC&thread.ID=1759

All you need to do is search for your drivers Vista x 64 drivers HP...  Here are the drivers for your PC:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?OS=2100&LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3752245

You must download the exe from the HP driver and extract with winrar (right click on the exe Driver HP and select "extract with winrar") then run the extracted setup.exe manually from the src subdirectory.

You'll want to install "summer 2008 Original NVIDIA Unified Graphics Driver" first and then followed up with the installation of the "NVIDIA GeForce 9300 M GS graphic BIOS and Driver Update"

You also need to install the sound card driver (to get your microphone working), the keyboard driver, the OSD menu and some of the function keys, if you have a TV tuner, intall originally was 2008 and also update driver...

Your PC will work like a dream with W7, no need to go back to Vista - enjoy!

Is what I also suggest go back HP drivers after October when Win 7 RTM is officially released, I would say that HP will have updates the driver available for Windows 7 x 64 I hope to here here.

  • Problem with Windows 7 Service Pack 1: the update process crashes during every start/restart

    Hello.

I downloaded the SP1 for Windows 7 from Microsoft Download Center (I had the Ultimate 64-bit edition initially installed on my computer). I ran the installer and went through the process of updating until the first reboot. Since that time, my system is unbootable not. Windows 7 starts to run and then the SP1 update process runs and applies the changes to the registry and system files. After awhile, the update process freezes and I have to turn off the computer with the power switch. This is repeated again and again each time you start. He stops to date when he reached update number 117880 of 334835 or 334835 117930 (but not always these specific), and he is trying to change some registry entries apparently: 'operation 334835 (\Reg...) 117880 update application', this is what is shown on the screen below the still glowing Windows logo.

In addition the secure boot mode, startup mode safe with networking, security console startup mode, last known good configuration options do not work. They all start to load but crash after a while (as if the same SP1 update process has been run in silent mode).

I don't want to reinstall Windows 7 from zero and all the applications that have been installed. The ERD that I generated after my initial installation can not solve the problem, nor the Windows 7 can install DVD. It doesn't let me do an upgrade from the original DVD since it has not be started from the hard drive and then launched from within Windows 7.

I looked in several discussions of the forum and found that my NTFS partition is marked 'active' as it should.

I plugged my HARD drive on another computer and have access to its content.

So is it possible to stop this automatic process and be able to start (in the original state of Windows 7)? At least to re - install Windows 7 via the DVD upgrade mode and then installing SP1 on a little further.

Perheaps the log files from the SP1 update process could be useful, but I don't know where they are on the HARD drive.

    Thanks for your help.

    Yo_54.

So is it possible to stop this automatic process and be able to start [...]?

    Hello.

My startup problem is resolved. Now I can start Windows 7 and use my system again.

I used the dism.exe tool back updates on hold through a wire found in the TechNet Forums: "C000009A update operation 334565 (\Registry\...) 119595 application error". loading SP1"(see link below).

I launched WinRE with my Windows 7 installation DVD, selected my C: partition where Windows 7 has been installed, click on the button 'Next', refused to the proposed repair phase, and then chose the prompt for commands and typed:

    DISM.exe / Image: c: \ / Cleanup-Image /RevertPendingActions

It took less than 15 minutes for the tool to the end I restarted my computer and waited a few operations update, then Windows restarted and more, and finally I was on my homescreen. After my connection, a dialog box been told that SP1 was installed (the winver.exe command showed that SP1 installed too).

I think that now that I have completely will be re - install Windows 7 in upgrade mode, recheck all the pre-requisites for SP1, uninstall all language but English modules, uninstalling my anti-virus and anti-spyware programs disconnect you from the Internet and run the standalone SP1 install package. I'm going to see if the problem is persistent and keep you posted.

But first I'll make an image of my C: drive system and store it somewhere safe!

I found the solution through this thread in the TechNet Forums:

  • How can I turn back on the volume on a Windows XP computer?

Using a Windows XP computer, I sailed somewhere that had the ability to mute sounds. It is not the volume control, I checked to make sure that no sound is cut off or too low. I also tried to plug in my headphones to the other jacks, and I can still hear nothing.

Unfortunately, nothing has worked, and the volume remains silent. I don't know how to get back to everything I clicked, too.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • HP compaq 15 h000na: can't get back into windows after installing windows 10 [attention] 8?

Microsoft and hp did an automatic installation of windows 10 and that my old system was windows 8 Andi want to return because the internet explorer 11 is now 64-bit and Windows 8, it is 32-bit, this i where the problem is, a lot of sites do not support windows 10 due to the Explorer currently 64-bit, ibecause now I can't pay your bills online that's why I want to go back to windows 8 , but I can't because then installing windows 10 he has deleted all the files of windows 8 operating system and many other people are having the same problem, microsoft made a remote server to try to find the problem but after 4 hours, they told a lot of people have had the same problem and there was nothing they could do hp says the same thing, now, I thought that I or we had 30 to change my or our spirits come back back so why cant I go back, windows 8 has been preinstalled on my laptop to hp should have the windows software code 8 then why slope they send me this code so that I can have windows 8 , microsft also said that me [i] properly installed windows 10, once again why cant I return to windows 8 and b4 a replys I and the foregoing did all the tests on my laptop and the only thing that remains is for hp to reinstall windows 8 on my laptop, because I have to use my very old another laptop running xp to pay bills online , then what is the point of upgrading to windows 10 and having to use windows xp on old laptop and what was the point of buying me a new laptop last year

I pressed the button for windows accecpt 10, but read all about it very carefully before installing and it asked to save all of my files that I made, microsoft and hp recommemed I installed windows 10 but you have 30 days to change your mind, windows 8 has been preinstalled and he warned an installation of usb media and says all the websites are supported so u take all this in any good faith, I'm not a super user just a plain person who wants to use his computer and when I want to and do not have all these hassle to write things up and find a hell of a lot of other people with eactly, same problem, microsoft installed a 4 hour remote to find if it was my fault or the fault of the laptop and found nothing and told me it was a problem with 10 windows and they said as a lot of others having the same problem where they cannot restore when they want too, if microsoft had said that there are a lot of sites supporting windows 10 then don't you think [IE me] would wait b4 I installed windows 10 also microsoft has in an email said to try to get these sites to upgrade why the fak must do this, like I said, I don't want all this crap I want to just turn on the laptop and use bloody like most people and not microsoft and hp did not force me but they recemended by e-mail and through my warranty upgrade so that was what I did the second , the only one the way back he semms is hp have my original numbers of windows software 8 not as I regis this sytem with hp, then u would have thought to email me windows 25 digits 8 none for me to install software, microsoft must make it clear that this windows 10 is not supported on the sites of somes and hounor cancellation of 30 days , and what is the bet that they contact me after 30 days and say oh u can't go back, but if you have done this or spoke to them u might have rollback, and this second would make it even more of a pain fffffff.

I was connected to the internet recently, my brother was cleaning my computer against malware with Avast, and then this problem with apperanse happened. I run "services.msc" and saw that themes were arrested, I started it and Windows XP apperance turned upwards immediately, but when I restart my computer it was Windows Classic style apperanse once again, and when I run "services.msc" themes have been arrested again. I've done several times more, but whenever I turned off my computer and restared it, Windows Classic style apperance came back.
