Get the below error when try to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Setup on my new laptop Windows 7. Have been trolling forums and sites of assistance for hours without success. Most info seems to relate to Vista or previous versions. The few posts that I found that are relevant to Windows 7 suggest UN/reinstall .NET framework... but no this framework is visible in Add/Remove programs or anywhere where I can find. Any thoughts? Just got a new laptop and I'm looking forward to really dive in... but not with this weird error pending.

Problem installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express
Recently I had difficulties installing programs. I'm on Windows 7 64-bit. Today, I tried to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express with disappointing results.
I went through the installation, and it says that the program has been installed successfully. However, I could not locate the program to open it. I ran a search that returned no results. The start menu did not light up like it normally does when there are new programs. I looked in the start menu > all programs and there was a folder titled "Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express. The folder was empty.I went into C > Program Files (x 86) and I saw different folders containing additional files for the program. I finally found what I believed to be the program itself, "VCExpress." I double clicked and the start screen for the program came, followed by an error message indicating "folder data Application for Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express could not be created." I tried to run as an administrator, and the error message says "the application cannot start."If I try to re - install, it says that it is already installed. I uninstalled via Control Panel > uninstall program and re-installed several times with the same results. I had similar problems with other programs, and they all seem to be Microsoft programs.EDIT: The problem seems to have something to do with my AppData folder. When I go to C > users he's not here, but if I try to create a folder with that name, it says there is already a folder with that name.Hi Viteminj,

Original title: streets & trips with GPS Locator 2011 install problem
I try to install Microsoft streets & trips with GPS DVD positioner 2011 and it fails at the beginning of the installation. My environment is a workbook of Elite HP 8560w running teacher of Win 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 Professional (8 GB memory, 500 GB disk space).
I want to emphasize that I will not be plugging the GPS stick on a USB port until the installation process or the installed software requires it. The installation begins with the display:
"Microsoft streets & trips 2011 requires the installation of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable. To install the component now, click OK. If you want to stop the installation and exit the Setup program, click Cancel. »
I clicked on OK to proceed with the installation. Another message was displayed:
"Please wait while the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable is installed."
After a fairly short period of time, a final message was posted:
"One of the prerequisite components failed to install. The installation program will now exist. »
I check that my list of installed programs in programs and features, and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 is already installed, listed as:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x 64 Redistributable - Version 10.0.40219
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x 86 Redistributable - Version 10.0.40219I tried to start the installation several times but still, he fails and ends at the same point.
What must I do to properly install Microsoft streets & trips with GPS Locator 2011?
William Allen
I thank all participants for their contributions on my problem captioned.
As I mentioned in one of my previous answers for myself, for me, this issue is now closed. Microsoft support has accepted my MS Streets & Trips w / GPS for a full refund. At least, support staff, that I spoke acknowledged that ST2011 was known to be incompatible with W7P SP1 and they offered a full refund.
A number of responses I received offered possible solutions that I had tried and has said on this subject in previous updates (for example, to run the installation of the data .msi on the installation CD). Then I still had possession of the ST2011 software, I don't was not informed of Microsoft resetting tool mentioned by Mike L. Robbins, so I can't say if that than me by my installation problems. Be it, everything is sent to Microsoft.
I can only hope that if Microsoft releases streets & trips 2012 which does not inherit problems, I lived. In my view, this thread can be closed now. Thanks to you all.
Certainly continue to reply to this topic, if others could benefit from your proposed solutions to ST2011 installed.

I just bought Streets & trips 20011. I uninstalled S & T 2007. When I try to install S & T 2011, I get an error message saying that microsoft visual c++ 2010 redistributable cannot be installed. Same thing if I try to install from the DVD or download. I 10.0.40219 c ++ 2010 is installed. I use win 7 pro and Office 2010 Pro installed. I've read elsewhere that S & T 2011 will not work with the latest patch for microsoft visual c++ 2010 redistributable. If that's true then I would like official confirmation in order to be able to return S & T and get my money back. Otherwise I won't be able to return, because I opened the package.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
SOLVED!I called the 1-800-MICROSOFT to support. I have given a file number and transferred to technical support. The answer was so simple I wonder why MS isn't just after it. So here it is:
After trying and failing to install the downloaded version of Microsoft Streets and Trips 2011 trial (failed, because I have the latest version of microsoft visual c++ 2010 redistributable and the program trys to install an earlier version, but then just ends) there will be a subfolder and subfolders installation on your hard drive files.go to the "Microsoft Streets and Trips 2011\ST2011\Streets\MSMap\" folder and run the file called "data .msi.The program will install and everything is good. -

For some reason, the Debug button is missing in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. The other buttons that are supposed to run your program are missing as well and pressing on F5 does nothing, so I can't debug my application. The other stuff are still there, it's just that the buttons that the Debug program are missing (other ways do not work as well).
You can get a faster response or better if you like in one of the dedicated Microsoft forums Visual Studio here:

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable installation problems
Hey when I try to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable or vcredist_x86.exe he can't find the track of appdata\Local\Temp\IX000. TMP\vcredist.msi.
When I have the error upwards, and find the folder, the vcredist.msi is in the IX001 file. TMP instead, so I try to change the location of the folder, but it won't always find the track, I installed the vcredist_x64.exe without problem but I need the x 86 version of a program, I tried to install for the last 3 days.
Have searched on google and got nowhere, this is really frustrating and comes here for help.
When I close the errors I get error 1714. The old version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable cannot be deleted.
Take suggestions, just to keep it simple because im not computer smart.
Looks like a problem with Windows Installer.
Because the Windows Installer Cleanup utility is not supported any more try the following utility:

(Windows 7 64-bit)
This can be long and winded, but I spent 5 hours trying to solve this problem.
It all started when I tried to uninstall a program, but I kept getting the message that wanted me vcredit.msi (or something like that) I downloaded a copy of it and pointed out the program of this file, but it has always found a problem and wouldn't uninstall. (Add/Remove programs won't uninstall it not more)
So, I moved to the installation of a new program. He repeats to me '\Temp\IXP1. TMP\ is not a valid package for the product Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005
Redistributable. Try to find the installation package 'vcredit.msi' in a folder that you can install Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable. »When I point to the vcredit.msi that I downloaded (just randomly sitting in my docs) I get "error 1714. The old version of Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable cannot be deleted. Contact your technical support group. »
I also have trouble downloading updates Microsoft for Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable & at the same time in updates it shows Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 Redistributable.
I tried to uninstall Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable via Add/Remove Programs, but it won't let me say it does not find some programs.
This thing is annoys the heck out of me.
I need to set the Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable problem (looks like I need the new version 2008 or 2010?) and be able to install and uninstall programs. Which is somehow related.
Any ideas what to do. (Please speak as clearly as possible. I'm a fool when it comes to computers lol)

Original title: Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 disorders (installing and uninstalling of programs)
Hello Angelz,
Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.
The error you get can be caused by components from Visual C++ Runtime libraries that are missing or get conflicted, perhaps due to a third party software or badly configured registry settings.
So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists:
Method 1:
a. click Start, right-click computerand then click Properties.
b. in the name computer, domain, and workgroup settings , click change settings.
(If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue.)
c. click change settings , and then select the Advanced tab click the environment variables button.
d. the user variables area, click on TEMPand then click change.
e. in the Variable value box, type C:\Temp, and then click OK twice.
f. click applyand then click OK.
g. follow steps 4 to 6 for the variable of environment TMP as well.
h. confirm this folder C:\Temp exist, otherwise create a.
i. restart the computer.
j. attempt to install the application again.
If the steps do not help, try the next method.
Method 2:
If you are comfortable in changing some registry settings, then follow the steps provided below.
- Click Start and type run in start search box, and then press enter.
- Type regedit and click OK.

Cannot install microsoft visual C++ 2005 on windows 8 pro 64-bit
Hello to you all,.
I recently updated my computer to windows 8 Pro 64-bit and today I had to install Matlab as I need it for my work.
The first step in the Matlab installation process is about installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable, but the progress of the installation stops with the bar very near the end. The progress bar stops moving (but continues to work the animation on this) and it is just there for something like 10 seconds, but there also two or three minutes. Then the installation window closes without any error or confirmation that the installation was successful. In the control panel appears an entry "Microsoft visual c ++ 2005" but it is, in fact, does not work. Installation of Matlab does not and if I start it again it's the same thing again.
I tried to install C++ by Microsoft Web site directly, but the same problem occurs, and more no error report is given.
any idea?
Thank you very much
Filippo
P. S.
Installation of a later version as the C++ 2010 or 2012 works very well, but Matlab seems very stubborn on the installation of the 2005 version...
I have did this after 2.5 hours of web searching and try and - in case of failure.
In the end I found a similar position here on the community where a 'fix it' program was proposed, a fact to solve the problems of installation/uninstallation. I don't have the page open more, but I'll post again here when I find.
It should be noted, however, that the 'fix it' program did not find any problem on my machine, and he says that nothing has changed, but then I restarted the computer and ran the Setup again and this time it worked.
At the end of the day, I don't know how this problem has been solved, it surely wasn't the reboot only as I restarted several times during the 2 hours that I've been sitting here, but nevertheless, it seems to be ok now.
If the method does not resolve the problem, continue to the next method.
Method 3:
You can also reinstall Visual C++ Library Runtime components to solve the problem.
You can uninstall all existing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package and check if it helps.
Step 1: To uninstall the package:
Step 2: Download and install the latest package and see if it helps.
Download the relevant package depending on your system's architecture.
For 32 bit: Download Details: Package redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (x 86)
For 64-bit: Download Details: Package redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (x 64)
Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.
