• Problems to install LabVIEW 8.6 in Windows 7

  Hi, I use Windows 7 OS and have problems to install LabVIEW 8.6 Student Edition with it. Already when I was using Vista OS, there is no problem. Is there anyway that I can get around this?

  When we installed 8.6 on our 7 machine we had mistakes, too.  I found this link posted by smerc here , to empty the file distributions has worked for us.

  Method 1:
  Step 1:

• Boot problems after installing Vista SP2 (KB948465)

  I installed SP2 via update.  During the update process there was a power failure.  After that (I don't remember if it's immediately after, or if a few days elapsed) I had problems with the startup.  Initially, seemed the Startup Repair to fix the problem, but not permanently, and the Startup Repair had to be used repeatedly just to start.

  After a few times of what is happening, Startup Repair did not turn, and the PC wouldn't start.  After about 5 attempts using the decision-making power, sometimes choose the Startup Repair, sometimes choose to load windows normally, he did start.
  I immediately did a system restore to return my PC before SP2 was installed.

  After the restoration of versions prior to SP2, Windows Update showed that the SP2 update failed.  It was on 9 November.  As I need my computer, I didn't reinstall SP2 until I had finished this work.

  Then I tried the system restore.  Unfortunately, the first available restore point was post - SP2 installation.  I restored it for the point that is as close as I could.  I tried to uninstall SP2 again through Windows Update.  This time, I receive a generic error message immediately (less than a second) - it does not attempt to go through the configuration - restart the procedure.

  I haven't restarted my PC since then.  Most updates have been downloaded automatically, and the PC tells me that a restart is required.  I'm a little worried that I will end up with a completely insensitive PC.

  I use an Acer Aspire X 3200 with Vista home premium pre-installed.  I don't have a Vista disc.

  I tried many different things to solve the problem:

  Re-register msiexec

  Install the version 4.5 of the installer

  Run the Windows Installer Cleanup tool on the items I've tried to install (by the way this tool would not install either - I had to copy the executable files from the temporary directory created by the Installer)

  Check that the msiexec service has been set to manual

  Cleaning of all parts of temp

  I tried to turn on Installer connection by setting the registration in the registry key, but I probably did it wrong, because I see no additional newspaper created in temp area...

  I noticed that some facilities will end if I let them run at night. For example, was the case with the installation of version 4.5 to install...   I had a similar problem which was caused by the Installer tries to set a restore point.  You can try to disable the restore point creation.  I have spent way too much time and got no results.  Some programs would run after restore point expired, others not. I finally gave up and reinstalled Windows Vista.  Now, I have no problem and the process was pretty painless.  Hope you're not massive amounts of resettlement programs.  :-((

  Thanks for the reply of Ravi Shankar. My PC is a Dell Inspiron 530. There is no specific error message except for the one I provided. There is a solution to this problem. It seems that if the print spooler is disabled (services and storage via the computer management), the installation of printer driver is interrupted. I manually activated the spooler on automatic printing and the printer driver has been installed immediately.
