Portege M200 and dual display

Hi I have a M200 which I use as well in the form of tablets & to my office as my workstation. I run a 17 "LCD screen directly to the M200 with no docking station. I want to be able to extend my desktop on the M200 LCD screen, while the main office remains on the LCD 17 ". I can do it the other way round, but it's not that I need.

The device to use as primary monitor is grayed out in the disp accessories. I use the 4.6.4.4 driver version.

Any ideas?

Hello

It is not possible.

  • Waterfall and dual display

    Hello

I'm writing an application that displays information in real time on a 'small' foreign window, and I wish I could have this tiny windows in full screen for the second screen when the bb is related to hdmi. I managed to implement this when I do not use cascade through the complicated sample here:https://developer.blackberry.com/native/reference/com.qnx.doc.screen.lib_ref/topic/cscreen_displays _..., but when I try to do the same thing with my application of cascade, it does not work. No idea how to do this.

in my native code, I just use a pixmap that I copy on the buffer that is created on the screen with different scale 2. When I'm able to do in my application of waterfall, I think I'll be close to my goal.

What I have in my application of cascade is always the same screen on both screens.

Thanks for any idea, or you can provide a solution.

    See you soon,.

Good news, at least for me! Make a short program, I managed to make it work, I'll post an example as soon as I'll have finished my implementation. My first app on AppWorld soon.

  • Portege M200 - bought on Ebay and frustration comes

    Hello

I m new here and I want to ask for a warm welcome. I purchased a M200 on Ebay and he received two days before. The M200 hasn t had a DVD player and I have no recovery CD or software for my Toshiba. I have a Toshiba external slimline PCMIA CD-ROM, but more of him later.

I found a lot of information based on this topic, but really nothing has worked for me, that article why I ask my questions here. So far, I'll tell you what I tried...

I bought VISTA Home Premium and want to install on my M200.

    On my M200 FreeDOS short.

    I tried:

    1. use my USB drive as a floppy using a HP tool that simulates a USB drive as a disc of floppy (FDD). I ve a copy all the contents of the Vista DVD for my USB. Then I ran the BIOS on the M200, select FDD as first boot option, but nothing happens, it still start FreeDOS.

What I'm doing wrong, Boot USB (diskette) works on the M200?

    2. as there is an external Toshiba CD Player included in my M200, I thought the first installation of a Windows XP disk. In the first period the player seems to not work, but after some time, it worked and I put my Windows XP on it. He loaded the disc, and the typical blue screen for the start-up of the plant came. But after a few seconds he stopped and said "could not read the data xxxxxx.xx, error 7. I tried two more times and same error appeared, only that it was another file that could not be read, and another error number.

    I read and I don't know if it's true:

I have red somewhere that I can only install Windows XP which was used on the recovery CD from Toshiba (that the CD was not included in my M200). So I can't use for OS install the recovery CD and any other normal XP CD?

Or is there an error with my external CD drive? Currently, it doesn't work again...

    3.

I have red the following link to install Vista on M200 by a PXE server:

    http://flimflan.com/blog/InstallingVistaOnYourToshibaM200.aspx

    and this one

    http://home.allegiance.TV/~joem298/

The first link says I can go point 13 of the second link:

Umbrella and that's what bothers me. They tell me. Turn on your Toshiba M200 and press F2 to select the network. I press F2, but nothing happens, I see the Toshiba logo but nothing happens... If I press on enter, then come back to FreeDOS...

Also on the second link, I tried to start from the point 1. But in point 5, the word:

Unzip the contents of "BFD package full v1.0.7.zip" in a temporary directory. Open a command prompt and navigate to the temporary folder. Run the command "bfd msnet" in order to create the startup disk.

I don't have a floppy drive. They tell me to run bfd.msnet from the command. Cmd.exe command is? If Yes, what should I type in to get bfd.msnet run?

I knew that installation would be very difficult and I kindly ask for personal assistance. If you can speak German, it would be nice to answer in German.

    Up to now

    Hello

As you can see in this thread, you can install Vista on the Portege m200 and it works fine:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=73510𑼦

The point is you need a PCMCIA compatible CD/DVD drive to boot from the Vista DVD.

This thread will show you how to install OS without using the external CD/DVD drive:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=19232

It describes the procedure for Portege R100, but it should also works on an M200

  • Portege M200 BIOS update running Windows 7?

    Hello

I recently took a Portege M200 and installed (via PXE - network installation) Windows 7 above. I want to upgrade the BIOS as is always in the original BIOS (1.1). I downloaded and extracted the pkg and tried to install through Windows but it says that my OS is not supported. I don't have an external CD drive or floppy drive - how do I update the BIOS? I tried to put it on a USB key, but it doesn't seem to be an option to boot from USB.

    Thank you!
    Jerry

    > I downloaded and extracted the pkg and tried to install through Windows but it says that my OS is not supported. I don't have an external CD drive or floppy drive - how do I update the BIOS?

Seems that BIOS cannot be updated because Win 7 is not officially supported on this good old classic.
However, AFAIK the VAP (value added package) is required to run an update of the BIOS. So, try to install the VAP. Choose this tool which is available for other models of laptops.

    > Anyone know where I can find a driver for it? I do not see there are 2 devices not recognized - a 'Base system device' and an 'unknown device '...

    Check this box:

This article describes how to find drivers for unknown devices.

  • Portege M200 - How can I change the BIOS battery?

    Hallo,

I have a Portege M200 and I want to change the battery of the BIOS but I don't know where it is!

    Can someone help me?
    Thank you!

    Hello

The BIOS battery is placed on the motherboard and to exchange it, you must remove a large number of parts and screws. It's a little tricky and that's why you should have experience in laptop disassembly.

If you want a new battery of the BIOS, you must contact the nearest authorized service provider. Technicians can do for you.

But why do you want a new battery? The battery will also be charged if you have the AC/DC adapter connected.

    Good bye

  • Replacing the drive HARD on Portege M200

I have a Portege M200 with a 40G hard drive. I'm running out of space now.
Does anyone know the maximum disk compatible with this machine?

    I thought Seagate Momentus 320 g.
    Could someone advise me please?

    Hello

I read here in the forum about upgrade the HDD on Portege M200 and the guy has updated the 160 GB HARD drive.
So I guess you could improve the 320 GB HARD drive as well.

You need a 2.5 IDE HDD and it s any speed would support the HARD drive.

  • Portege M200 BIOS update

    Hello
I have a portege m200 and because he doesn't any device (floppy drive, dvd) top, I want to be able to boot from an sd card. For that I need the most recent BIOS version v1.70win, but to intall, it requires the common Module. I have instaled (there was no error, at least), but when I try to do the update, a message "lack the common module". So I'm a bit confused. I guess the best, think to do is erase any previous version of the common module and reintall it, but I have no ideea how I had to do.
can someone give me clues, or maybe I'm on the wrong track.
    Thank you
    Daniel

    Hello Daniel

AFAIK it of not necessary to install a common Modules if you want to update the BIOS. You can normally find the common Modules to add and remove programs. If you need a whole instruction how to do a BIOS update, you can find it on the Toshiba site.

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

Please go to Support & downloads and Knowledge Base. There, you can search for the BIOS update.

  • Portege M200 won't start CD-Rom USB

I tried used, pressing C, changing the Bios and F12 boot boot from CD-Rom. None doesn't seem to work, if anyone has any other suggestions I would be grateful.

    Hello

Unfortunately I can't help you much about it because I do not have this Portege but I found interesting news on the Portege M200 and support for recovery disks:

The Portege M200 supports the recovery through the BIOS (by pressing 'C') with the USB 2.0 card and PCMCIA (16-bit and Cardbus).
Readers and following (USB, PCMCIA) controllers have been tested successfully:

    one) Toshiba, PA3352E-SCD2, CD-RW/DVD-Rom USB 2.0 drive
    (b) Toshiba PA3402E-1DV2, Rev.501, USB 2.0 DVD Super Multi drive, SN: 5362870112
    (c) Toshiba, PX1055E-1NST, (Freecom drive), SN: 3431490096
    with a PC Card (16 bit) card, cable II, PCMCIA, Rev.043.242, SN: 18496 043 3999 0343 01093
    (d) Toshiba, PX1055E-1NST, (Freecom drive), SN: 3431490096
    with a CardBus cable II, MAP of BUS, Rev.136, SN: 16693 136 3999 0149 06122

The drive used in conjunction with the Contoller PCMCIA or USB is not so important due to the fact that the driver in the BIOS should allow the controller first.
There is a generic CD-ROM drive implemented in the BIOS for the connected player.

    Tested with:
Toshiba, PX1054E-1NST, (Freecom drive), SN: 151192845
    Card CardBus, cable II, CARD BUS, Rev.136, SN: 16693 136 3999 0149 06122

The "PC Card controller Mode" settings in the BIOS has been 'Automatic Selection '.
This means that you have nothing to change in the BIOS, because it is the default value.

It could happen, to connect the power supply in certain circumstances, for example:
    Battery is charged too less.
The PCMCIA supplies unless energy location.

    Recommendation:
If a player is used with a built in battery, please always connect an appropriate adapter.

For the recovery of USB 2.0, 2 following drives have been tested successfully:
    one) Toshiba, PA3352E-SCD2, CD-RW/DVD-Rom USB 2.0 drive
    (b) Toshiba PA3402E-1DV2, Rev.501, USB 2.0 DVD Super Multi drive, SN: 5362870112
    (c) Plextor PX-W4824 TU, USB 2.0 CD - RW drive

  • Portege M200: the screen is blank when you switch to Tablet mode

    Hello.

Have a problem with my Portege M200 and after hours of searching for a solution, I'm still at a complete loss as to how to fix it.

Essentially, when you attempt to switch to Tablet mode - or if I press the button cover closed 'sensor' on the far right, which is essentially the same thing: the screen goes black.

This means that I can not in tablet mode at all.

What happens across multiple operating systems and will happen even before that an operating system has started. Of course, I checked that when in Windows, the option "When I close the lid" is set to do nothing and I even checked for any cable setting in bios but saw nothing relevant.

As far as I know this has only started happening since I sent it for repair with toshiba a month or two back (motherboard has been replaced I think).

No way to control it via software or am I'm going to have to send it for repair again?

    > Like as far as I know that this has only started happening since I sent for repair with Toshiba a couple months back (motherboard has been replaced I think). Anyway to control this via software or am I'm going to have to send it for repair again?

You description, it looks more like a hardware problem as a problem of software because this happens before an operating system has started. That's why I would exclude a software problem.

In your case I would recommend you to contact the ASP again and explain the whole situation with your laptop.

    Good luck

  • Need to replace battery for my Portege M200

I now only get around 45 minutes out of the battery in my Portege M200 and need a replacement. The original is a PA3191U-3BRS but I can not find this list on the Toshiba web site. She has been replaced and if so, what model should I? Standard rather extended life is fine fo me.

    Thank you very much
    Neill

I found the info that you can use the battery with PA3191U-3BAS part number. Put this number in Google and you will find many online shops where you can order. You will see that Portege M200 is listed as compatible portable model.

  • Cannot start Portege M200 from SD card

    Hello

I recently bought a used Portege M200 and I'm unable to install an operating system.

The situation: I got the laptop with a trial version basis of win XP Home Edition I couldn't use. It would not boot from external dvd player usb I bought, so I installed a linux system hd with the laptop from a friend, then install via this machine (this method does not work with windows however).

After reading many articles from those who have encountered the same problem, I decided to go and trying to boot from an sd card, which offers various possibilities to install windows.
I tried a lot of things, but still could not boot from sd.
I use an SD card of 2 GB Panasonic class 4.

-Toshiba sd-utilities (AFAIK) only work on toshiba windows machines, so that they are of no use to me
-People say that place an image of a boot on the SD disk, naming $tosfd000.vfd or $tosfd00.vfd (tried both) would make the case, but no.
-When switching to FDD-> HARD drive boot order->... or using the third option in the toshiba start screen green led beside the card reader will Flash once, but then directly boot linux from the HARD drive.

Specifications: Toshiba Portege M200, 2 GHz, bios is ACPI v.3.01 (which is a little confusing because the version the most recent that I found for the portege is 1.8)
If someone messed up the bios in installig a version that is not compatible with my laptop?

    any help much appreciated!

    Hello

really strange case, but one of the first suggestions would be to try another SD card because it is possible that the card is not recognized correctly.
A good idea would be to try some transcend cards... but just try another card and give a feedback if it worked.
It would be really interesting if it works...

    See you soon

  • Portege M200 display issues

Hello. I just got my new M200 tablet pc, but the display is sluggy compared to my screen Tecra S1. Looks like there is something on top of the display Assembly that makes sluggy image and the colors too. This can be seen especially on white background. Is there a plastic to remove, because I looked and I think he does not like or is it normal for the tablet PC?

    Hello

The Portege M200 LCD screen is covered with a protective mask. This protective film is integrated into the LCD mask to prevent scratches on the LCD Panel - caused from dirt or handling - caused by the use of the pen.
You can't compare these two screens (Portege Tecra) for Portege is tablet pc with the protective mask and Tecra has a very different display with other properties.

  • Portege R500 - Powerpoint and dual head video card

Urgent! I have a presentation to do tomorrow.

Anyone know if the Portege R500 has a dual head video card so that Powerpoint can be used in presenter view. That is to say, the notes show on laptop and external display or via a projector presentation?

I put t know what you mean exactly with dual head video card but the Portege R500 may be connected to the projector too.
You could extend your desktop on the projector by using the FN + F5 key combination and could spend the PowerPoint on the extended desktop.
    This should also work.
