Processing 32-bit HDR in LR5 or ACR

I hope that helps, the Group of right rather than Photoshop.

When I shoot images with high dynamic range, I use the AEB function to create an HDR image in merge to HDR Pro PS and save as a 32-bit tiff.

Is it better to treat these in LR5 or use the Camera Raw dialog or y at - there no difference in exposure, highlights, shadows, whites, blacks and contrast functions while 32-bit image processing?

If anyone has a better workflow for the HDR I'd appreciate the help.

I prefer LR GUI and tools all in one place on the PS ACR interface. Inside LR I apply adjustments of WB, sharpening and noise only at my raw image files before merging with the function brackets "Edit HDR Pro in Photoshop" LR. LR and ACR offer the same functions and features, providing that they both use the same version of ACR. I use 5.2 LR and PS CS6, both with ACR8.2. IMHO there is no need to make other adjustments to the raw image files, which can be applied later to the one with also good results 1 32-bit HDR file.

"The file opens inside the HDR Pro to the PS plugin, select ' 32-bit Mode" "Remove ghosts," click OK, CTRL + S (save), or use "save under" to rename the file and/or modify Image Compression (ZIP for example), etc.. If you use "save under" inside the PS you will need to click with the right button on the working folder in LR and select 'Synchronize the folder' in a TIFF of HDR import 32-bit file. Not a big deal!

You can now process the HDR TIFF file using LR tools, which, in my opinion, are much easier to use the PS/ACR workflow. I noticed that PS CC has added a new feature called HDR Pro Workflow "toning complete in Adobe Camera Raw."

http://blogs.Adobe.com/jkost/2013/06/merge-to-HDR-Pro-in-Photoshop-cc.html

This is exactly the same as "Edit in HDR Pro in Photoshop" using LR with the 32-bit HDR inside LR TIFF file processing. PS users that do not have LR may find an advantage, but I doubt LR users will be. What you all think, am I missing something?

    • Are you asking how to open your CR2 files in Lightroom instead of ACR/Photoshop?
    • Or are you asking how to open files from Lightroom in Photoshop?

These are different issues and have different answers.

    • If you want to open your CR2 files in Lightroom, there is a setting in LR preferences on opening files when a memory card is inserted (not sure of the exact wording) by clicking on the checkbox should allow you to import the files into Lightroom instead of Photoshop.
    • If you want to open your files from Lightroom to Photoshop, there is a preference setting to "External editors" topic - you can use Photoshop or another app as an external editor.

  • 32-bit HDR TIF

It's been a while since I've done any HDR.  I used to load my pictures are taken in Lightroom and send them to Photoshop, where, I would just save the result in Lighroom as a 32-bit TIFF and do my editing in Lightroom.

I don't remember how to do this.  The closest I came is YOUR IN ACR in Photoshop, but it was before sending it to ACR I've been able to save just in Lightroom.

Am I just having a major brain blow up in my old age or has this feature been moved, changed or contracted?

I use creative cloud for photographers and have the latest versions of Lightroom and Photoshop from today (August 31, 2014).

    Thank you.

    Chris

You should be able to select the photos in lightroom and then Edit in > Merge to HDR pro in photoshop.

Once the pictures open in the hdr dialog box, select 32-bit Mode and uncheck full toning in camera raw adobe

Once the photo open in photoshop, go to file > save and that should save in the original and lightroom should pick it up.

  • Photoshop CS6 32 Bit HDR hangs on the question of MAC

    Photoshop crashes every time that I convert a 32-bit image to 8-bit. I use Photoshop CS6 v13.0.4 x 64 on MAC OS X 10.6.8.  I goto Image > Mode > 8bits/channel.

    image_01.png

When HDR images Merge dialog box appears, click on "merge".

    image_02.png

In the next window on HDR toning, it blocks immediately. (immediately, as in a second after I took this screenshot)

    image_03.png

When I click on "do not merge" it works very well, so he has something to do with the HDR toning editing capabilities.

I had problems before with CS6 work with images of 32-bit on my Mac. I posted on the Adobe forum not for a long time there is a problem with the use of the content aware fill. It would make black in my selection. However it worked fine on Windows.  In addition, some who had who have also used MAC OS X 10.6.8 made it a TI worked well, however, that he was using Photoshop CS6 v13.0.1 x 64, while I use x 64 v13.0.4.  So I think that something's broken in the subsequent updates for PS CS6 for Mac.  If I had to reinstall Photoshop it will come back on v13.0.1?

A reinstall will give you 13.0 you will need to manually update to 13.0.1.

  • HDR 32-bit really is?

I'm really impressed with the new HDR functionality in Camera Raw 9.0. It is easy to use and seems to do a great job. It is advertised as producing a 32-bit HDR image. This size seems to indicate that it is likely because my NAVE MP 12 files are only 8 or 9 MB and DNG HDR file is 56 MB. But the Bridge and Lightroom that the HDR image is 16-bit. Any thoughts? I have yet to try using Lightroom, but intend to do so shortly.

Jim, the HDR merge result is a DNG file in floating point.  The image data are stored as point floating 16-bit data.  When you return this data by using the Camera Raw controls, we use internally a processing 32-bit floating point image pipeline for rendering.

Make sure you use a TIFF file and not a PSD file.  LR will import only 32-bit TIFF or DNG.

  • PScc in LR5 economy

I just bought the PSCC unique app and also use LR5. I discovered that you can merge images to HDR pro and their edit / your 32-bit images with ACR. It works very well. However, when I try to save ACR image editing in LR5, it seems that it records the 32-bit merged image, but not ACR edition image. Is there something that I am missing as a link between the two? I'm not well versed in PS again, so I need a little guidance in time. Any advice / tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Lightroom need to read the metadata of the edited file. If a synchronization of this file should work for you. Keep in mind that any changes you did this file which was not justified for metadata, will be lost when synchronized. If you do nothing, then your fine.

The metadata for the file is how lightroom and camera raw/bridge (and any other application that uses metadata) talk to each other.

  • A few questions about the bit string

In the options of workflow with Camera RAW 4.6, which channel bit choose when you work on a RAW file? 8, 16 or 32.

Is it depending on what device picture are you using?

So far, the only differences between each of them, I noticed is the lesser of the ILO, the smaller the size of the file in tiff format. And plus the bit more options are available with filters of Photoshop CS3. Thus, a 16-bit tiff file needs to be converted to 8 bits to save in JPEG.

To this day, because I don't use a lot of filters, I have always chosen to 16 bits and then open my files with Photoshop CS3 for a few edits and then a save in tiff.

    I do that right?

Also, I've recently looked to play with artistic filters in Photoshop CS3 so I had to convert it to 8 bits before neighborhoods and then I saved as tiff. Can I convert their return 8-bit to 16-bit or higher?

Is there anything else I should know about bitmask that is important?

    Thank you

I have not worked with ACR 4.6 for a while, but the only options available in the Options of workflow with the current version are 8 or 16-bit. 32-bit floating point is available in Photoshop and HDR (high dynamic range) work. If you use aRGB or sRGB and edit images in ACR rather than in post processing, 8 bits is usually adequate as this depth of bits with a gamma of 2.2 is enough to encode what the eye can see. If you make significant changes in the curve of tone in post-processing, then you might want to use 16 bits.

If you use ProPhotoRGB, you should probably use a number of the 16 bits. However, as you seem to be a beginner, I would not advise to use ProphotoRGB. I agree with Ramon to the book written by Fraser and Schewe reading.

  • Download card camera in LR CR2 files, open in LR as ACR?

Is there a way to download 1ds Mk3 CR2 files on an SD card of the card directly in the form of import in the library Module, and after sorting, open their ("Edit in" command / E) in the cab?

    Mac OS 10.10.2,"limited LR5.7, ACR 8.6

    TIA

ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) is a Plugin for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

Lightroom is a complete stand-alone application and does not use the ACR Plugin, the equivalent processing engine is an integral part of Lightroom. The Lightroom Develop Module offers the same functions as the ACR. The latest version of LR 5.7.1 is the equivalent of the Adobe Camera Raw 8.7.1 plugin.

ACR 8.7.1 full features require CS6 PS or PS CC to function.

  • Can a T61 with a Santa Rosa Vist 64 bit platform, or do you need a Penryn platform?

Can a T61 with a platform Santa Rosa running Vista 64-bit, or do you need a Penryn platform?

I learned that the Santa Rosa platform can't handle Vista 64-bit.

    Thank you!

    Hi Luke,.

Any Core 2 Duo processor is capable of processing 64-bit, which includes Merom CPU (T7xxx) and the newest Penryn processors (T8xxx & T9xxx).

The platform that you are talking about is the motherboard chipset (or cycle in terms of manufacturing). "Santa Rosa" is simply a name given to a particular generation of motherboard chipset. In this case, Santa Rosa is the fourth in a generation (or cycles) chipsets that were introduced by Intel in mid-2007. This platform supports the Merom and Penryn processors and CPUs support 64 - bit addressing OS indeed.

    I hope this helps!

  • How can I install my lightroom on my desk top message says that the lightroom software is 64-bit?

Hi, my lightroom software 6 on my laptop is running very slow, I bought a desktop computer with higher specifications and you want to install here, but my software is licensed for the 64 bit and now I need a 32-bit, what should I do?

Sorry, there is not a 32-bit version of LR6. The last version available for 32 bit OS was LR5.

  • Is it possible to filter or Search images with a depth of 32 bits

I'll try to find all my 32-bit HDR images in Lr 5.7.1 but I can't find a way to search or filter on the bit depth. Neither the metadata Panel in the library module shows an indication of the bit depth. Information is available in the bridge (see below). Can search for Lr or bit depth filter? (I know Geffrey Friedl has a plugin that make this research but Lr this natively?)

You can use the color > test Bits per layer in smart collections.  (There is no equivalent filter criterion.)

  • LR5 on desktop or laptop under a license?

I LR5 installed on my desktop where I do all my post processing.  However, I use LR5 to catlaog the incoming images for the office.   I use PS CS6 for all my post processing.  I like the feature of tethering of the LR5 for remote shooting. Do I need to buy another license of LR5 so I can use it on my laptop?  I won't remove it from my desktop computer for control of aforementioned catalogue.

    Thank you, Brian

Adobe allows you to install Photoshop and Lightroom on both computers.  With creative Cloud, you can even install on a Mac and on a PC.
