Processor upgrade 2nd generation 3rd GEN Help!

I have a pavilion DM4 2191us and I would like to upgrade try i7 3rd gen processor one dead on my hp laptop so I can diagnose if the problem truly is the processor or not. I don't know if the i7 is compatible with my laptop. The website dell says that these could be possible i7 models

  • Intel® Core™ i7 (3940XM)
  • Intel® Core™ i7 (3840QM, 3740QM, 3540M)

I have is compatible with the Web site that you accessed and all these processors are compatible with my socket (rPGA 988b) http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%20G2%20 (rPGA988B) .html

This lady of intel suggests that you check if the bios is compatible with your cpu type https://communities.intel.com/thread/49613 how I would go about to do?

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

Page 1A compatible processors. No 3rd gen i7 is listed. The Intel HM65 chipset will support some i7 processors 3rd generation (see below) but you can't assume that translated to make chipsets support supported by the HP motherboard.

I7-3517UE, 4 MB L3, Turbo 2 .8GHz

I7-3555LE, L3 4 MB, Turbo 3.2 GHz

I7-3610QE, L3 6 MB, 3.3 GHz Turbo

I7-3612QE, L3 6 MB, Turbo 3 .1GHz
I7-3615QE, L3 6 MB, 3.3 GHz Turbo

In fact, I do not recognize all of the listed processor as being ever used in a HP laptop. The other thing I will say is extremely unlikely if you are facing a situation of no-post that the fault is the processor. Not impossible, but highly unlikely. Beep codes are not very reliable. The question is almost certainly the motherboard, not the processor.

    Hello

I'm sorry, but you cannot use the Core i5 - 2540M. You must use the processor Core i5 - 480 M. Some laptops series G6 such as ones of G6-1200 use chips from the second generation, so the manual you have is a general for all laptops to G6. The first generation Intel processors use a different socket than the second. A possible compatibility for Intel processors is when you have an Ivy Bridge chipset third generation) and you can use a Sandy Bridge CPU (2nd generation)...

  • Pavilion dv6t-6100 Quad Edition (2nd generation) CPU upgrade

I have pavilion dv6t-6100 Quad Edition laptop with one of the 2nd gen i7 processors. What type of upgrades to the graphics card and CPU can I do?

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.  Intel processors supported are listed in Chapter 1, page 2.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02842252.PDF

Graph cannot be upgraded, except if the card mother set is replaced.  Support Intel motherboards with various graphics solutions are in Chapter 3, beginning on page 27.  You must also pay special attention to the fact that the jury is for a processor dual core or quad.

I would also add that the financial costs and monitoring of personal work to exchange the motherboard and the processor upgrade, would exceed the cost of buying another laptop with the processor and graphics card solution you're looking for, following the sale or your trade.

  • 2nd generation and 6th gen Ipod touch.  Can I continue to use both?

I have an Ipod Touch 2nd generation and get a 6th generation one for Christmas.  I want to continue to use both.  I heard that the 2nd generation will not be able to use the most recent ios.  How can I use both?  Of course, it takes a lot less memory also.  I have not would care if they are not sync, but I don't want to plug an and destroy the contents of the other.  Should I configure them with different user accounts or?

You want to keep the same Apple ID That's what your content is about.

You can very easily manage different content on each device. I manage different content on my ipad and iPod and they have different iOS.

Your other older will continue to operate, he won't be able to do everything that the 6th gen due to having an older iOS and probably less apps that can be installed on it.

And then if you use it just for the music, there are no descendants.

  • iPod shuffle 2nd generation will not be a link with itunes

I just brought a used ipod shuffle 2nd generation and I can't seem to associate with my itunes account dosnt see toward the top in the list of devices? It binds with laptop and with the car but can't put mt on her music and her full load of expensive! and bon Jovi show!

any advice will be welcome tried alternative lead? Potty

Cheap and good jovi...  That IS indeed a serious problem.    But at least the iPod still plays music, so its battery is OK.

You use the USB cable supplied with 2nd gen iPod?  It is long with a cradle at the end of the shuffle.  The replacement of home cable shuffle Apple sells currently is to shuffle 3rd and 4th generation and does not work with 2nd gen shuffle (connector is different).

There are third party replacement cables, but they must be described as 2nd gen shuffle.  And they tend to be cheap and of poor quality, then this might be the problem here.

If you have the right type of cable, when you connect it to the USB of your computer, look at the little light the shuffle.  Blink initially when it is connected?  It turn on, but remain solid (not flashing)?  There is No light at all when connected?

Also, are you using a Mac or a Windows PC?  If Windows, which free?

  • Satellite L750-201 - processor upgrade

    Hello

In the last two weeks, I bought a brand new Satellite L750-201 (PSK6ME-026004EN) of PC World, the United Kingdom, which has an i3 - 380 M 2.53 Ghz with front side bus 1 066 Mhz.

Compared to my Toshiba laptop 6 year, it is lightning fast and I am generally very happy with it, but after the purchase, I was appalled to see that the CPU is a first generation Intel and not 2nd generation like most others on sale.

The i3 - 380 M is a trademark of Passmark CPU of 2337 and so the 6 GB of RAM is sufficient for my current needs, especially now I installed Ubuntu Linux in dual boot with Windows 7.

In the future if I I want to upgrade the processor and almost wish I had held out for an i5.

Question: What are my options for upgrading the processor? Specifications of the motherboard obviously comes into play here.

I would like a lot of techniques of information that you can give me because I am a software engineer with some knowledge/experience of the material.

    Thank you in advance.

Upgrading the CPU may be possible, but you must use the CPU that is supported by the chipset of the motherboard.

But there would still be a question about the BIOS, no one can say that if the new processor would be proccessed by BIOS and in the worst cases the laptop would not stable after upgrading from CPU

  • I have ipod shuffle 2nd generation and need new charger (dock) can still buy these?

I have ipod shuffle 2nd generation and need new charger (dock) can still buy these?

Apple no longer sells the official replacement of the USB cable with the "cradle".  Do not buy the replacement USB docking cable for the current 4th gen (3rd generation) iPod shuffle, because it does not work with 2nd gen shuffle (the connector is different).

There are 3 replacements of party, for example

    http://www.Amazon.com/eForCity-Sync-Charger-cradle-shuffle/DP/B0042EB270/

There are other products similar, including some who do not have the cradle, and some who do not even have a cable (like this one)

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/USB-data-sync-charger-cable-for-Apple-iPod-shuffle-2nd-G balances - / 221546931454

Ensure that the product is described as being the shuffle gen 2  I'd go with one that has a docking station, because it maintains the shuffle at a constant specific position compared to the socket, which can be important for a shuffle gen 2.

  • Upgrading CPU for T510 please help.

    Hello!

So I have a thinkpad t510 laptop, with a fairly low i5 520 m. I was wondering if I would be able to upgrade my current CPU with a more powerful i7 (quad core) 2760qm because the they share the same socket pga988/G1.

  • Lenovo X 1 carbon (2nd generation): issues with UEFI

    Hello

I recently got a beautiful 2nd generation X carbon 1 and I need Linux on it. But I have problems to indicate the UEFI how to boot Linux.

    History:

A month ago, I got the computer, Linux installed on it and the thing UEFI worked smoothly (after upgrading the BIOS to version 1.14). BUT the computer broke. They came and fixed it by changing the motherboard.

Of course, after this UEFI necessary to tell again on how to boot my Linux. I've updated the BIOS again (this time it was the version 1.16 and thanks Lenovo, this time it was possible, without windows, with a bootable image). Then I proceeded as before but, whatever the UEFI option I choose in BIOS, UEFI refuses to get information on my Linux installation. It seems to me as if something was write-protected, but I can't determine what is wrong in my BIOS settings.

    Question:

Does anyone have an experience on the update of UEFI X carbon 1 2nd generation (BIOS v 1.16) using "efibootmgr?

Because people say that UEFI is something new and it's bugged particularly in this computer (which I find odd because it is supposed to be a ultrabook of top of the range), I want to forget and go for the mode of inheritance using Grub2.

But I would prefer to use UEFI.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello again,

    I solved the problem.

In case someone might be interested, that's what I did:

In order to inform the UEFI on the kernel, I wanted to start, I used SystemRescueCD version 4.2.0. It used to work (with BIOS c. 1.14). But it seems that this does not work with the BIOS v 1.16. I tried with a CD bootable Arch Linux (2014.07.03), and it worked in a direct way. Efibootmgr in SystemRescueCD version was too old for BIOS v 1.16.

    Best regards

PS (a little off-topic): in my opinion, Lenovo is so far not completely against Linux users (apart from a few political connections high level with a few companies of BONE and its consequences). And I thank you. But Lenovo, please do not forget the Linux community. We thought until now that Lenovo is the Linux environment. I think it's beneficial for both sides and I think that it is not much for a large company like Lenovo.

IM trying to put my ATV 2nd generation it work fine then just stopped now it says it can't connect to itunes help please

Try the following steps for the Apple TV 2 & 3, check if things work after each step if necessary, before you try the next.

    1. Restart the Apple TV (settings > general > restart).
    2. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL cables for 30 seconds.
    3. Restart your router. (Also try to remove the power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    4. Reset Apple TV (settings > general > reset > reset all settings)

Computer display portable iPhotos as screensaver via Apple TV (2nd generation)

    Hey the Hood Canal.

I understand that you are wanting to use your iPhoto library as screensaver on your Apple TV (2nd generation). I know using your own photos as a screensaver on your Apple TV is impressive. I'll be more than happy to help!

There is an excellent resource that shows how to set up: 12 iTunes for Mac: play your iTunes using Apple TV (2nd generation or later) library items

Photos stream from your computer to Apple TV

Once the home sharing is set up on your computer and on Apple TV, you can use iTunes for photos of stream to your home theater system.

    1. In iTunes, choose file > home sharing > select the Photos to share with the Apple TV.

    2. In the window that appears, select Sharing Photos From and choose a source from the context menu.

    3. Do one of the following:

      • Choose "All photos, albums, events and faces."

      • Choose 'Selected Albums, events and faces', and select the items that you want to stream.

    4. Click on apply.

For more information, refer to the installation Guide for the Apple TV.

This article says it's iTunes 12, but I have confirmed it also works with version 11 more. Once you have set up iTunes to share your iPhoto with your APPLETV library go to your Apple TV and go to settings > screen saver > Photos > then in the article titled "Computers" you should see your library here and can choose which albums to use as a screen saver. Once you choose the pictures, you should be all set.

Thanks for posting on communities of Apple!

    See you soon!
