Product key location

Well, here's the deal

I have a laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate installed and after using it happily for a while I had to run windows repair today.
I did and to start windows again, he demanded to be reactivated.
Problem is I never had no windows with my laptop package and the bloody sticker also disappeared, so I can't find my product key
So is there anywhere else I can search? And if it can't be recovered, what are my options?

Option 1:

If the COA sticker is damaged, you must use the recovery partition to reinstall Windows 7, it will be exempt from the need to use the product key to activate your installation of Windows 7.

Option 2:

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling. This will exempt the need to also use the product key.

Option 3:

If neither options 1 or 2 is possible, then you will need to invest in a new license of full version of detail.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

  • Vista not taking the product key

    Hi all

My son has a Toshiba Equium L40. A few days ago, the machine would start but after the + screen Windows Loading + the only thing on the screen was the mouse pointer.

We have tried to start in + Mode security +, but that did not work or the other. The only thing left was to reinstall Vista. However, no matter what we tried that did not work either. It was as if there was no partition or image.

Regardless, Dad has an OEM copy of the OS +(Vista Home Premium) +. We created the computer and found that a single partition that we thought was a little strange that we had no OS or recovery disk with the computer, but we persevered. When he came to typing in the + product key + located on the underside of the computer, Vista would not accept.

We have installed without entering the key, but it must be enabled in the next 30 days.

Is there anyway that we can get the computer and the operating system/Microsoft to accept the PID that came with the computer?

    Concerning

    Martin

    Hello Martin

Toshiba, almost all laptops come with recovery DVDs. If this is not the case user may create a recovery on its own media and to be honest, it is very important. In a situation like yours, you can use recovery DVDs and make clean OS install.

In my opinion you should clarify this with your local reseller or Toshiba directly (contact service provider authorized in your country). Maybe they will send you a copy.

Return to the activation key: as far as I know, this key is not a kind of universal key and it belongs to the preinstalled copy (factory settings). The best thing to do is therefore reseller or Toshiba Recovery DVD and order.
In the meantime, you can use this version of Vista 30 days.

Product key located on the COA (certificate of authenticity). COA is a label which is glued under your laptop. It looks like something that is indicated in the following link:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00882033

It is not stored anywhere within HP and Microsoft.

  • How to activate Windows using my product key?

My Toshiba Satellite laptop has recently be affected which made unusable/inaccessible hard drive. The hard drive has been replaced, and the laptop is up and running again. Now I have the trial version 30 days of Windows 7 installed. I would like to get a copy of my access key to unlock the full version of Windows 7 that I paid when I bought the laptop.

There is no product key located anywhere on the laptop and it is not in the laptop computer zone he entered in any event. I have now learned that the product key is accessible directly from the hard drive, but given that the data on my hard drive are completely inaccessible is not an option. Can someone advise me please on how I can get a replacement from Toshiba product key.

I am pretty frustrated that I had not given a paper copy of the product key with the laptop.

    Thank you

Unfortunately, al this doesn t work on this path. When you buy the new notebook price includes preinstalled OS and a valid license, but for the only preloaded.

With other words: you will not get a kind of own key that you can use with a preinstalled version of Windows. When you use the original operating system it will be activated. You can install it 1000 times and it will be activated any time.

So if you want to use the original installation disc from Microsoft, you must buy a valid license for this. Many people think the same thing as you but unfortunately Microsoft create the rules for the use of the licenses and how it works with the activation of the OS.

  • Wiping Hard Drive, Reinstalled with Windows 7 with upgrade disk product key error

My computer has been acting upward, so I back up hard drive and erased the hard drive with the BACK CLEAN ALL command. I then reinstalled windows 7 from my Windows 7 Upgrade disk and restore my files on hard disk. The computer works fantastic and returned half of the memory of the hard drive. A few days later, I get a message on the screen that I have 30 days left until I can produce a product key from the original Windows installation, does not accept the upgrade product key.

I tried the product key located on the bottom of my laptop for Windows Vista comes with the HP computer. It does not work and it gave me no disk backup for Windows Vista from HP.

I called Microsoft and they told me to contact HP for the product key. I see on this forum that someone else has written a similar plea, because it is a plea, and HP said to contact Microsoft. In other words, Microsoft says to contact HP and HP says to contact Microsoft.

I use Microsoft since Windows 3.2 operating systems and have bought a lot of products of them. It's my 3rd HP laptop, my wife is on her 2nd HP laptop. Well you know what? If I don't get this resolved quickly by one of your companies, and I'm not remember Microsoft, I'm through the two of you.

I don't see where Microsoft is not being fooled off but when it's to the detriment of a loyal customer, so don't worry. HP is also responsible for this. An upgraded version of Windows 7 (to upgrade from Vista or XP) should be smart enough (and I thought it was) to remember that I had the original version and its product key should be enough. Also I don't never told me that I had to keep the old product keys, and it doesn't matter anyway because the product key is always available in my laptop HP, but it does not work.

I'm not buying another HP without your help and actually buying an Apple Mac for my wife and my next computer if it is not resolved. I think that HP is probably as bad as Microsoft so that it will not be solved and I'm not shelling out more money for something I already own.

  • Windows XP Professional suddenly asking product key, but do not accept one printed on the laptop. What is going on?

I've had this laptop for 3 or 4 years, XP Professional. A few weeks, he told me that windows xp must be activated, so I entered the product key located on the sticker on the underside of the computer, but he told me that the key was invalid. I tried to call microsoft technical support, but the best advice they could give me was to remove all and reinstall windows. I would like to know if there is any way around it before I remove everything on my laptop to try something that might not even work.

If the laptop is preinstalled with Windows XP and no article has not helped, then you will need to contact the manufacturer of the laptop.

    I hope this helps.

  • Microsoft Product Key

I do not understand why my Microsoft Office now reduced functionality. Windows 7 was installed on my laptop at the time of the purchase, but the pages 'aid' is now suggesting that it was only a temporary installation. Whenever I was invited to enter the product key (located on the base of the laptop on the certificate of authenticity) the very last figure does not record right away, but the message arrives that the product key is incorrect. Then the last digit appears, but it still does not recognize this product key - please help I need the Microsoft office programs.

Then you need to office purchasing. Office is NOT part of Windows (and never did) unless PAY you EXTRA for it. • Product key incorrect error message number

I bought an Acer aspire one, new, equipped with Windows XP.  When I opened the work a scfreen asks for a product key.  When I type in the 25 character product key located on the sticker attached to the bottom of the box, I get a message that the number is incorrect.  I checked with a magnifying glass, and it's OK, all right.  What is and how is it set?

This is the WINDOWS key, not the key to WORK - which you should have seen clearly that you used a magnifying glass.

If Works came bundled with your version of Windows, then you need to look in the documentation on how to find the product key.

  • my product key is wrong according to microsoft word, help

Im trying to enter my product key for microsoft word and he always tells me that it is evil.

I got it on the label under my laptop... Please help

    Hi johndeegan11,

According to the information you have provided I understand you are trying to enter your product key located under your laptop to install/activate the program Microsoft Office Word. Under your laptop product key is the product key for your operating system i.e. Windows Vista. You cannot use this product key for install/activate Microsoft Office programs.

Provide us more information about your program Microsoft Office so that we can better help you.

    (1) what version of Office you are trying to activate?

    (2) you purchased Microsoft Office or was it preinstalled on the computer?

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) computers usually have a trial version of Microsoft Office installed. If you purchased a retail version of Microsoft Office you will need to uninstall the trial version installed on the computer and install the version of Microsoft Office that you have purchased.

If you bought Microsoft Office through your computer Manufacturer (OEM) then I suggest you to contact your computer manufacturer for help with Microsoft Office activation.

You can also consult the following link for more information about the available Microsoft Office products:

  • Get the installation with a product key files.

I am trying to transfer my copy of windows 7 from one PC to another, but I don't have my installation CD anymore. I used the MagicalJellyBean keyfinder to get my license key, but when I go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery to get the .iso file, it gives me an error saying:

    "Error".

We had a problem with the request for approval.  "Please ensure that your product key is a product supported by this site and has been entered correctly, and then try your request again.

I had a friend also try with a key he knew must be valid (never used), and he had the same error, if someone could provide insight as to why he does this?

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

    You can try

Click Start, right click on computer

    Click on properties

    Scroll down to Windows activation.

You will notice it displays a time until Activation but completed. The product ID also indicates that he uses a default key, it is only for the 30-day grace period allowed until you have to activate Windows 7.

Click the change product key link

Enter the product key located on the COA sticker that is located downstairs or (sometimes in the battery of your laptop), you can also find it at the top or the side if it's a desktop computer.  It looks something like the following:

Proceed to enter the product key and click Next

Wait while Windows is trying to activate.

If all goes well, less than a minute, you should see this screen.

You can further confirm that Windows 7 is enabled by checking the State of Activation of Windows:
