Hello saandeepa,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that your touchpad freezes on your HP Pavilion Notebook 15.

Let's start by ensuring that drivers are up to date. You can find them here: Synaptics TouchPad Driver.

Also take a look at this document for issues of touchpad in Windows 8: use and troubleshooting of the TouchPad and ClickPad (Windows 8).

I would like to know if that helps at all.

  • HP Pavilion 15 N-215TU laptop is damaged and Windows cannot be installed

    Product name:-laptop Pavilion 15 N-215TU

    OS:-Ubuntu (Linux) 14.04 LTS

My laptop came with pre-installed with Windows 8.1, but I didn't like it at all, and nor could I manage quite well. So I decided to have a new OS. I thought that maybe Linux is a good option, but I have had no previous encounter with the system. And for this, I feel guilty and ashamed cause little learning always causes dangerous results. I installed the most famous and simple distro Ubuntu 14.04.But in a day or two, I was right for which people are not embarrassed on this subject. There is no need to explain why. I was ready to install Windows 7 and here the problems begin.

I made a usb bootable with Rufus, the Win 7 and tried to start. Nothing happened, it didn't even start to begin. I tried everything I could after that. Changed boot priority, boot enabled, disabled Legacy secure boot. Happy to create boot active Legacy gave the optioon to boot from my USB, but when I went with it, I found that some error codes. Firstly, 0xc0000098 then 0xc000000f. And Yes, I forgot, these errors even came after I did my key USB FAT32 file format, as with NTFS I don't even have the option to boot from usb. I did more research and found that it is very complex to install Windows after Linux. Most simple thing would be to make the dual-boot machine with my Win 8.1 and Ubuntu. But I was so stupid that I formatted my whole hard drive to linux file system and erase all my data and 8.1.And I made a big mistake by deleting the recovery partition that came with 8.1 before these problems started. I had to now have Ubuntu.I having backup of the contents of the recovery partition, but I can't use it because I deleted the previous bootstrapper, so the rush to the partition active. and after that the entire operating system. I did research even more and came to know about EasyBCD, applications etc. of GParted. EasyBCD offer something new, I did usb bootable with her, wrote the Windows 7 MBR with it, load the bootloader of the application, but nothing new has happened. Today, I have used my last resource GParted live, make the iso bootable in a usb port, put in, followed the steps that I've seen in a website, but I could not achieve anything. The process stopped before entering the menu of partitioning in the car and asked a command. Now, I had nothing to see or something that I can apply. I tried to format the entire hard drive, but could not managed to do it too. It came with an error that the device is busy and the disassembly of the drive can not be done. I have no idea how serious condition of my laptop is.

I want to just my windows in the back. I'm still in warranty period, but as I said, I made my way-too-hard way making serious mistakes unknowingly. I did search overnight for last two days and just tried but without success. So, I want to know that can I fix this at home? Or should I take it to the dealer neighbour? Another issue is that if they can't fix this, what I have to pay for may be a new hard drive or something like that?

Please let me know with possible solutions and show me a light to get more of it. I do not use the cause of laptop Ubuntu is * beep * ing annoying and useless. Please, give me some quick suggestions or I have to go to the dealer and admit my mistakes. Please, need help, and I expect good service of a global brand like Hp.

  • HHD has failed and needs to be replaced on my out of warranty Pavilion DV6 (Windows Vista)

I have a laptop DV6 Pavilion running Windows Vista that I bought in 2009.  I realize that is no longer under warranty HP so I have to pay for any changes or corrections to this computer.

Earlier this week, the hard drive (the one included with the computer) failed with error 03f0. It is my understanding that this error is a fatal error and the drive is essentially 'toast '... Unfortunately, I do NOT have a backup of the image of that hard drive. I have just the recovery disks that I created when I got to the computer originally.  I quite like this computer I would try out running back (if possible) without having to spend a LOT of money. In my simple mind how how I get this computer running and upward would buy/install a compatible replacement hard drive and boot the system with the recovery discs. Unfortunately, I think my plan is simply probably naïve and I probably need to do other things. So I need some advice before you start this process and possibly wasting my time and money.

I need answers to some of these questions:

-Will it record Windows/Vista OS and more recovery disks to get the computer running with a new hard drive?

-If I need Windows OS disc, can I go directly to Windows/8?  OR do I need start with Windows Vista and then upgrade to Windows/8 later?  Use recovery discs and all Windows operating system? OR I can get running with just the disks in the Windows operating system?

-If I can get the hard drive and Windows operating system loaded, I guess I need HP drivers, etc... Does it mean that I have to get the disks from HP's Windows operating system or can I get it from Microsoft or Amazon and download the drivers from HP later?

Thanks to anyone who can help me here for advice! It will save me a LOT of time and money.

    The short "Workaround" to try:

Go to your Control Panel > display icon > Device Manager >

Find, right click and "Uninstall", your Audio driver(s).

Do not delete NOT the driver, just right click and 'uninstall '.

    • Do not restart your computer (yet).

    Next:

    • In Control Panel > Windows Update > change settings > disable the recommended updates... You can add them later if / when you get the 'Important' updates to work.
    • You can click to "Check for Updates" again once, or simply go back to your main "Windows Updates" window and now click on the 'Install' button (on the lower right corner of this window).
    • If the 'glitch' updates, in other words, if you get a red 'Failure' and it seems that one or more of these stupid updates suddenly just not download and start installing like you have said just that he does, click on 'Install' again... Now, the updates should start installing.  If you have some big updates (or many of them), this can take some time.
    • For added security, do not do much other work.  The computer market.  Read an e-book.  Keep an eye on it, but don't make your Facebook session or online banking.  Don't shop on Amazon...  Let the system work on the updates.
    • Wait... wait some more... When the updates are loaded, you will be told that you must restart the computer.
    • Reboot / restart the computer when the computer tells you it's time...
    • When the system restarts, these Audio drivers to reinstall it after that updates install and just as the system finished its reboot sequence.
