    HELO!

First of all, what has caused the problem:
A few days ago the partition C of the HD-Drive with Win7 OS and firefox installation crashed due to problems with the poles (according to the error messages). I tried to solve the problem with chkdsk, win-repair and standard controls, but did not work. Win7 starts before don't appear the indirect balls or sometimes until the mouse coursor on a black screen appears but stays there. Other partitions - data - work well as before. I recognized that I can get access to the operating system partition by clicking on command prompt in the repair-win7 environment. All files and folders are still there.

I installed another HD of the same type (first as a simple reader) and also installed the same operating system and the firefox browser to search for advice. After that, I put the old HD as a slave in the PC. All partitions seems ok. but one with OS Dionysius access. The diskmanagement under control of system shows no problem with any partition. All partitions are correctly identified and have a drive letter properly. Only access to the first partition contains the operating system and firefox is always denied.

WHAT I TRIED (YOU WANT TO):
I booted the system with the command prompt without booting win7 (not the Win7-command prompt in a window) and I copied the profile completely of the old installation of firefox on the old HD C: on the new HD with the creation of all records by hand and xcopy all files in all folders (E:\Users\ (username) \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxx.default (xxx for the characters/name firefox createt)) to a subfolder on the new C:. Then I chose this profile using the Profile Manager for ff. The name of the profile-folder (and subfolders) were exactly picked up the old facility with all the files of the old installation on the old HD.

BUT WHEN I STARTED FF AGAIN TO AN UNFORESEEN SITUATION, PROFILE AND ESPECIALLY THE BOOKMARKS WERE SIMILAR EVEN BEFORE (A BIT OF THE NEW FACILITY INSTEAD OF THE HUNDREDS OF THE OLD PROFILE).

So I ask for advice, how can I get the old profile/bookmarks to the new system. Or perhaps - if anyone knows - how I could run the old ffox at least once more to save the bookmarks by using the bookmark backup. (I made a backup but it was too long ago, a lot of new bookmarks have been added in the last time).

I would be very grateful for any advice or information problem.

    With greetings

  • How can I include a glued profiles bookmarks and login info/autofill etc. in a profile already existing in use?

Hello, I read how to transfer and create a new profile in the Terminal and I stuck a profile (not 1) content of computer1 to the folder ~/library/apsupport/profiles to computer2 with the new profile created etc. and he opens in Nice Firefox - but-
Computer2 to which I added Profile1, already had an original profile used with bookmarks and etc too many connections before I wanted to paste stuff from comp1 in there which would be a pain to try to sort manually in it - is there a way to join them if I can put them in total cus if I paste the content it replaces just if I get is comp1 or comp2 profile!

Also how would switch to the profile orig comp2 if I wanted to cus at the moment it's still in ~/library/application support/firefox/profiles, but firefox uses the mer1 that I just created in the Terminal and then glued profile comp1 in!
Hope that all of the senses.
Looks like something really obvious, but I can't seem to understand this, so sorry if this is a totally silly question.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you want to add data (fusion) to an existing profile, then you will need to install extensions in this profile that add such a feature.

For bookmarks, you can export the Favorites to an HTML file and import this file.

For passwords, you can use the password exporter extension.

    For form data, you can use this extension;

There is no way to merge form data directly without using an extension.

  • Bookmarks lost after reformatting my SSD. How to bring back the profile/bookmarks?

All Favorites disappeared after I reformatted the SSD drive which contained my profile folder. You save on your end, as well as locally (on my computer)? It just happened today, if that helps at all. I provide some information about the profile if it would make a difference. Thank you!

Mozilla is not a copy of your browser data unless you subscribe to the synchronization service. In this case, you should be able to use your credentials to sync to connect your Firefox newly installed to your account. I'm not an expert in sync, so that's all I can tell you about Sync.

If you set never sync, then you can always retrieve data depend on what kind of format you did. In some cases, Windows creates a C:\Windows.old folder with your old data. In other cases, utilities like Piriform Recuva may be able to rebuild some of the files. But then there are moments where it's hopeless...

  • Bookmarks are not stored in my firefox on my NAS profile

I use firefox with 2 different profiles and choose which profile to open firefox. A profile is local, one profile is away on my NAS. When I use my NAS profile, if I save a bookmark, it is not saved. When I use my local profile, bookmarks are stored correctly.
The profile of my SIN seems to be OK, because I see all the bookmarks that I had previously recorded in my profile. It's just that I can't save all new bookmarks.
It started to happen after a reinstallation of my system of Xubuntu 14.04.

    Hello
I found the problem. When I created my profile firefox under LINUX, I used the NAS folder created by my workstation windows, with all bookmarks. Somehow Firefox LINUX did not have this issue. I created a new NAS for years imported my favorites from NAS LINUX the profile created on windows, and now it works.
Sorry to post before I had enough.

  • Had to reload operating system and applications data, now can't get firefox to recognize the profile data

My C drive (disk solid state drive), which held my operating system and data from the app crashed. I had it replaced, updated Win 7 to win 10 and have downloaded Firefox. I was able to restore my profile from a Mozy backup data and copied in the Firefox folder. But Firefox resolutely refuses to recognize. I tried using the recovery data from an old profile, but no advantage help page. Tried to use the Manager profile, but without success. When I go to Troubleshooting Information and click on file/Show profile, it comes up with a list of files (files starting with bookmarkbackups, which however is empty, down for webapps, which has the file inside webapps.json), then the files from addons.json down through xulstore.json and the file places.sqlite is 10 240 KB Although there is something in there, but Firefox resolutely refuses to acknowledge my profile, bookmarks, etc..

I'm out of options and ripping my hair out trying to get all my favorites, in which I have a lot of information such as the authentication of data for many favorite sites. It is frustrating that all the information seems to be there, but Firefox ignore all.

    Can anyone help?

Such a backup is perhaps a ZIP archive containing all the files into it if it is not a real file, but only one file.

Note is that you replace the file places.sqlite with a copy of the backup that you have to make sure to remove existing places.sqlite - shm and temporary files to SQLite places.sqlite - wal.
Ditto for the other SQLite files that you are restoring.

Have you checked the application.ini file in the backup?

  • Cannot migrate my profile from XP to Windows 7

I want to migrate my Firefox profile (bookmarks, passwords, latest sites visited, installed extensions/applications settings etc.) of my Win XP 64 machine to my new Win 7 machine. Firefox is updated (34.0 5) on my XP 64 and Windows 7 machines (I manually installed the active apps/extensions on Win 7). However Firefox was originally installed on my XP machine (at least 6) years ago so what counts.

I have read and tried everything I can think of but * nothing * works.

On my XP machine, I have only the default profile (to run Firefox with the - P option). It is located in C:\Documents and Settings\TexasTim65\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\1f2yd5bq.default

On my Win 7 machine, I find the default profile in C:\Users\TexasTim65\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bjy0sgis.default.

Try #1) I copied the folder 1f2yd5bq.default for Win 7. I run Firefox - P, but the profile manager sees only the default profile. So apparently, it cannot detect new profiles randomly added to the profiles folder. So that's a no-go.

Try #2) I open the folder bjy0sgis.default on Win 7. I delete everything in this folder. I can copy and paste into all kinds of 1f2yd5bq.default. I start Firefox and got nothing. No favorites, no sites are visited and I guess no password information or anything else. If this doesn't work for me either even if MANY people claim that this is what they had to do.

Try #3) using the Manager of profiles on Win 7, I added a new profile called hand. I just copied once again 1f2yd5bq.default in the new profile. I put in hand as default profile used (I know works because it uses different extensions/plugins) but of course I have nothing of my copied profile.

So I'm puzzled. Something is different about my setup which is not allowing me to move on in a simple way.

    TIA,

    Tim

P.S. is there something I can do to get Firefox to create EXACTLY the same name profile under Win 7 as I had in XP? I would have thought the same username would produce the same default profile, but apparently it does not.

"On my Win 7 machine, in the fact that I find the default profile

    C:\Users\TexasTim65\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bjy0sgis.default. "

There is another folder 'Profile' to C:\Users\TexasTim65\AppData\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bjy0sgis.default - without the \Local in the path. This is the folder you need to copy your old profile files in.

  • Migration of bookmark for multiple users

    Greetings:

I'm trying to copy 500 + old computers to windows 7 to new user profiles. One thing that does not play well, it is Firefox bookmarks. When a profile is copied, Firefox is running, and it has none of the previous profile bookmarks. I think the problem is in how Firefox handles its bookmarks and have not found a way to transfer them to. Comments are welcome.

    Kind regards

  • Old favorites are not compatible with the version 20 + Firefox

    General information:
I use the old client version 3.6 given that an old utility addon author stopped update and will not work with the new revisions. Despite disabling the update featured on: config and in preferences, the browser refreshes still finished (initially I was using 3.4 and would prefer to use that, but no matter how I try I can is no longer cancel 3.6 to 3.4 even if I reinstall using an Installer 3.4). Accordingly, I had the habit of keeping a copy of my directory of firefox where it updates again without asking, she has. This could help the guy out to meet countless people who have lost their favorites because of the upgrade released this year and I hope that someone to investigate and release a patch/utility to fix the problem.

    Question:
I checked that the most recent customer since at least version 20 and leave, are not compatible with the old bookmark JSON files. Those who have been upgraded to the latest revision not only lose their favorites, but cannot restore them either, as Firefox only returns the error message: "unable to process the Backup File.

I confirmed that the files themselves are perfectly intact with no sign of corruption and are as expected. Restore ok old revisions of browser (in my case specifically 3.6), they will not restore the most recent customer reviews. This isn't a fault with bookmark backups, but with new clients (I guess they changed the way they store information in the JSONs at some point. I note in the code for the JSONs GUID has never been used in old revisions, but it is in the most recent revision. Maybe it's causing an incompatibility problem? You just need to adjust the client so that it looks for the GUID and if none can be found to ignore it rather than decide that the file is corrupted.

    Solution?
In my case, I had a copy backup of the old directory for review. To restore I opened the copy and export bookmarks as an HTML, that I restored in the most recent client. If you don't have a copy of the former client, the best thing would be to try and re-install an older revision of the customer and either make a copy of the program folder and use another copy of that you can use the new and old customers and you worry about the loss of an older revision, since you'll always have 2 copies of the former client (the one you use the one that you use to restore in the case of at level). Or export bookmarks to an HTML element, and then upgrade the client to the newest and import the HTML instead of JSON files.

Please review and create a more simple solution to a problem of stupid incompatibility. ^_^

There are a number of operations in the file places.sqlite which are obsolete.
    For example,.

setItemGUID (aItemId, aGUID) obsolete since Gecko 14.0 - returns a unique global identifier for the element. This is mainly for use by extensions that synchronize data between different profiles bookmark.

    Former id snippit:
    "title": "','id': 1,"dateAdded": 1306666129870000,"
    New snippit
    {"title": "","guid": "5rkFafJ6AnRZ",""id ": 1, 'index': 0, 'dateAdded': 1396387525168000"}

There are other identifier here has changed, I think in version 14
«Note: the importHTMLFromFileToFolder() method has been removed in Gecko 14.0 (14.0 Firefox / Thunderbird 14.0 / SeaMonkey 2.11).»

But more likely the former is Netscape format: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libra.../aa753582%28VS.85%29.aspx

I tried this however: I installed the old version (3.5) and updated to the current version. All my favorites were there. I had to check the updates and could not skip certain steps of 3.5 to 3.6 for example. He then went from 3.6 to 12, then with todays update went straight to 30. They're all here. However nothing is perfect, backup is recommended as well.

Back to your question, makes it easier for backward compatibility, my hypothesis is that they changed with the updates and ignored some versions. Saved profiles or places.sqlite files may be missing this change because the format changes in the update?

My suggestion would be filing a bug at this request, providing a few cases where this would be necessary. Currently only the current version of Firefox is supported, which can leave us to the work around that you are currently using.

  • Impossible to upgrade every night

Downloaded nightly and ran 28 all night (November 25, 2013). When the computer reboots, nightly crashes, collects and sends the report. Then, I have ran Windows Add/Remove and uninstalled every night, but kept the profiles, bookmarks, etc.. Rebooted computer (Dell Inspiron 1090. Win 7 Home Premium, 1 SP) and accidents still every night. He opens the window to select one of the four profiles then gives the message that it stops, I want to send the report. So, I ran uninstall it this time remove all. Then I ran a registry cleaner and restarted and install nightly run. This time, of course, he did not ask what profile to run but instead went directly to the accident exposed behavior previously, nightly can't run, stop, I restart or stop, send a report, etc.. So I restored my computer to an earlier state, 21 November 2013 and am now able to run the program, but my four profiles went along my bookmarks, addons, etc. I reinforced profiles and bookmarks before trying to update and registration of the addons and plugins.

    Help, please.

Problem solved. Here's what I did:

Finished restore profiles with browser open normally, not in safe mode to see if it would work as expected.
Open every evening and clicked on search for updates
    Downloaded 34.8 MB
    Restart the browser to update
    Opens the compatibility check
Default profile opens without asking which profile
    Now running 28.0a1
Verification of the other three profiles
Profile of stealth opens in a separate process
Profile of banks opens in a separate process
Google profile will open in a separate process

Everything seems to be intact. Interesting exercise, but I do not know why it did not work without restoring the computer to the State in which it was November 21. In this case, even once, that I'll use as recommended safe mode above. Thank you.

  • Favorite html files seem to be missing

I recently had a problem with my last computer where it stopped turning on. I have determined that the best course of action was to buy a new computer.

My old computer was working Firefox 15.0.1 on Windows XP. My new computer has a new download of Firefox to the latest version of 16.0.2 on Windows 7.

I saved the hard drive of my computer that I managed to make a backup of all my files except I forgot to make my favorites of internet explore and Firefox.

My new computer came today, and I joined the old hard drive to my new computer assuming my favorites would continue to have access to this hard drive and I could move just them to my computer.

However, after a little poking around in the Firefox program files I came across a document entitled the deleted files. I opened as a Microsoft Word document and looked up the word ' bookmark * "in the file.

I came across some disturbing evidence which seems to me my favorites have been arbitrarily removed my old hard disk Firefox program files, because I fell on 3 files with the word bookmark in this document:

    Components/bookmarks. XPT
    defaults/Profile/bookmarks.html
    modules/services-Sync/Engines/bookmarks.js

So my question is, do I have any hope of recovery of my old favorites? Or they are lost forever? I was probably close to 100, so it would obviously be a lot of your time to manually add them all back.

Any help anyone could provide would be most useful help.
