Program installs not because another is being installed?

My computer will not install any new program or I want to uninstall a program because it indicates a program is already installed, but I don't know what that might be. I tried to restart but he always says the same thing. What can I do?

I am on Windows Vista and I tried to download the latest version of iTunes (not on a browser, but via the iTunes pop up), but this message appeared:
Another program is being installed.  Please wait for this installation, and complete, and then try to reinstall this program.
There is no evidence to proceed with the installation anywhere on my computer but.  And I even tried uninstalling various programs to see if the problem was the iTunes, but I get the same message. Also, I tried to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress on the computer, but the InProgress section isn't here... help?

Hi Krrusso,

You can try the following steps and check if it helps.

Method 1:

You can try to start the Fixit from the following link and check if it helps.

Diagnose and solve the program installation and uninstallation problems automatically

Method 2:

You can perform a clean start and check if it helps.

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

In addition, after you fix the problem, you can see step 7 above to restore your computer to a Normal startup mode.

However the tech guy has also stated that he could not help me since CS3 is no longer supported.  He said to uninstall, but there is no option to uninstall since Windows does not see installation.  I tried to close all the Adobe programs and service in the Manager of tasks, but again got the same message invalid series No.  I am reluctant to uninstall the entire suite because I rely on Dreamweaver to manage my organization's Web site.

I have continued on a laptop, but it was old and get very slow, so I moved it to a new workstation.  I tried to copy the Acrobat 8.0 folder full of the laptop. Even if all the files seem to be now on the workstation, the machine is not passed through the installation process, so the executable will not work.

Seem to be stuck in a catch-22 of Adobe.

The S/N of CS will not work with the stand-alone Acrobat. You must go through the process of installing CS. Even if you are it installed, don't expect AA 8 work with Win 8.1. I did not talk about someone still succeed. If Acrobat Distiller install and open, the problem will probably be with the printer driver and AcroTray. Assuming that any installed, do the updates before going any further. If you are all updated, then specify what problems you are experiencing. There are workarounds for the printing process, but they add steps in the process.

I uninstalled the device and the software and reinstalled both on-site and directly from the CD without success.

The only error I get is when I start everything first install it and there is a red "x" next to the update of windows.

The installation process ends, the computer will recognize the printer and I am able to print but I have no control any function because none of these options in the wizard for the printer are turned on.  They are all grayed out.   The most important thing I need is the archiving of received faxes.

Using various hacks registry posted on various sites to redirect the default program installation folder to another drive is not supported by MS and can cause problems.

Most of the programs when you install them have the option for a custom install, where you can specify where / which drive to install, but not all programs have this option. Even if you install a separate drive various files/folders will be written on victory drive.

If the drives D, E & F are separate partitions of a disk, you will need to modify/extend partition in win

I'm not busy to install all programs and no matter how many times I reboot my computer, I still get the same message.

The reason why I want to uninstall quicktime (and all associated software Apple) is that I am trying to install iTunes on my laptop (to work with my iPod) but get a message saying that the installation cannot be performed because I need Quicktime Player.  I have quicktime on my laptop and it works, so they told me to uninstall and remove all Apple programs and then install iTunes.

Problem is just that I can't seem to uninstall all the programs.

I tried to fix this by removing the quicktime in my program files. And when I try install quicktime again once I get the same message saying that I have to wait for another installation program before you continue the installation of quicktime.

    1. use the free version of Revo Uninstaller to remove iTunes:

I had a lot of trouble installing the drivers on my Windows computer.  I went straight in the Device Manager and deleted the devices I tried to install and reinstalled them, I went into safe mode, I got Windows to run the console and only the basic process and run from there Device Manager... no matter what I do the same mistake.

  • "Windows cannot display the control volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. »

    missing volume control

volume control was gone. I tried to go into my control panel to use it, but I get an error that says:

"Windows cannot display the control volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. »

I have lost my Windows XP disc in a move and can't reinstall the file to a disk, how to fix this?

When you use certain features sounds and Audio devices, you see a message like this:

Windows cannot display the control of volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

It seems that the c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe file is missing.

This may occur if your antivirus/antimalware application thinks the file is suspicious and quarantines (effectively delete) the file.  You can replace the missing file with a backup copy of the file that is in another folder on your system.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive...

We know that XP keeps copies of critical system files in the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Using the Explorer, search for or navigate to the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Locate the sndvol32.exe file, right-click, choose copy (it copies the file to the Windows Clipboard).

If your Solution Explorer settings are not set to display file extensions, you will see only a file called 'sndvol32' which has an icon that looks like to the volume control slider (this is the file you need).

If the file is missing in the dllcache folder, look for a copy of the file in this folder:

    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

Browsing from a level in the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32

Right-click on an empty area in the window of c:\windows\system32 and choose Paste to paste in the missing file where it belongs.

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file.

Now try your features sounds and Audio devices.

Note that run sfc/scannow will not replace the missing file because it is not this that sfc/scannow does.

  • Another program is being installed when you try to install the software

I'm trying to load the software in Windows Vista. I get an error message that another program is being installed and try again once it is completed. How to understand what to install?

    Suggestions:

    1. first of all, make sure that your machine is clean. Run a full scan with your AV (anti-virus) program.

    2. make a sysytem folder check that will look for corrupted files and if it finds it, trying to fix them if possible.

Start button > Search box type cmd > look up, do a RIGHT click on cmd.exe > click run as
    Administrator
    > in this window cmd black and white, type at the prompt flashing sfc/scannow > press the ENTER key.
Note: there is a space between
    'sfc' and ' / '.
To sit and wait. It will take time.
When finished, exit the cmd window.
    Reboot (restart your computer)
