"Photo Gallery can't open this photo because it is being edited in another program"
whenever I have add tags to the photo above no tag, I can view is no longer the image. When I click it, I get this message, "Photo Gallery cannot open this picture because it is being edited in another program." I do not understand this because everything I've done is add a tag or two. I have not tried the image in a different way.
my computer did not always do this; He has recently started to happen. Sometimes when I turned my computer off and then turn it back on, some of the pictures will be open, but not all of them.
Anyone who can answer this question will be appreciated greatlly.

Just a few ideas...
If it is a recent issue,... it may be worth trying to do
a restore of the system at a time before everything started.
Using Windows 7 or Vista System Restore
http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/
If you run Windows Photo Gallery... it can
be worth a try to download and install Windows Live
Photo Gallery:
(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)
Download Windows live Photo Gallery
http://explore.live.com/Windows-Live-Photo-Gallery
(There are other applications included in the download...
Uncheck the ones you don't want)
And... no guarantee... but Microsoft following
'Fix' might be worth a try:
(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)
Windows Photo and slideshow problems

Good luck...

Photo Gallery can't open this picture because you do not have permission to the location of the file asscess RJI recently started having the SAME problem. Windows Photo Viewer working wonder in the past months on the same exact images without any problems.
I suspect that Microsoft update the code somewhere which pushed as an update - what is now the cause of the problem.
As a diagnosis, I tried with the right button "open with...". "and chose the paint. The same file opened without any problem.
All the pictures are generated for all images without problem.
Still, Windows Photo Viewer cannot display ALL my image files. Paint has no problem.
Similarly, right click 'open with... '. "and choose Microsoft Office 2010. Loading the image without any problems.
If the original poster has the same success using other programs - then the problem is with the Windows Photo Viewer - Microsoft of not having it recognize permissions for the code or something.

I scanned a few photos, but its entry in the adobe format, I wan't it in windows photo gallery, which will make
I right click on the image, click on the Prog by default to choose, select windows photo gallery, but it did not open, he writes
"Photo Gallery can't open this photo, the format is not supported.
Your better off using paint to scan directly to, because for one, it has a way to change the types of files and two he has a check-in feature, more than anything the photo library has.
All you have to do is open paint, click the blue button and click option of scanner or camera, follow the prompts.

Hello
Thank you for using the Microsoft Vista answers Forum. What is the file format of the images?
All the pictures have the same symptoms?
Disable the antivirus software on your computer and check if it works very well.
Make sure you have all updates for your version of Vista.
You can also try the new Windows Live Photo Gallery, as it has more features and should solve your problem.

If Windows Movie Maker is installed, Photo Gallery supports the following video file types: ASF, AVI, MPEG and WMV.

Hello
A very complicated problem. that I ran.
I created a panorama with Photoshop CS5 (running Windows Vista). There is a number of images BULLIES that have been sewn together using Psalm I flattened the image and saved in the jpg format. This jpg image can be read by Windows Photo Gallery application
I want to create a larger image (72 "long) to print. I went back to the PSD file and increased the size of the image in increments of 10% ~ 49 to 72 long. Then, I saved this image to jpg (same options jpg). As this image is corrupted when I try to see in Vista (Windows Photo Gallery). It cannot be read in Microsoft Paint either.
In the end, I need to send this image to get printed but I fear that it is corrupt. I tried 3 different computers to Windows Vista (laptop computers for desktop computers) and the corrupt message is the same
What is strange, is that Photoshop can open the jpg image. Apple Image Viewer can open the image and my laptop with Windows 7 can read the image.
So I don't know if the image is corrupted or if it is a problem with vista or photo gallery
I also tried to open with Microsoft Paint and it doesn't work.
Thank you
Perry Ralph

Photo Gallery can't open photo
Hi, I have a problem just downloading a photo on my digital camera. When I plug my camera into my computer, the thumbnail for that one particular photo does not load, and when I try to view the picture I get the "Photo Gallery can't open this photo or video. This file format is not supported, or you do not have the latest updates for Windows Gallery"error. I tried the option 'Open with', and it will always open in Paint, Word, Picture Manager, etc..
I tried on several PC and facing the same problem.
However, the photos can be viewed on the display of the camera without problem. Also, all my other photos load very well.
Can anyone help with this?
It is possible that the picture uploaded in question is
corrupted... sometimes this can happen when the camera
the batteries are low... after a long photo taking session
for example. The following steps should help you re - download a new
copy of your photo. If you connect the device to your PC via a USB cable, turn
on the camera... then go to... Start / computer... it should be
listed as a drive letter...If_yes_right click on the drive letter and select... Explorer or
Open... This should display the directory of the memory card. You can copy and paste or drag and drop the files from there to a
folder on your hard drive. In addition, if you have an internal or external media player... you
could remove the memory card from the camera and insert it
appropriate in the slot on the media player. When the card is inserted... If you go to... Start / computer...
the card reader should listed as one or more removable disks.Removable (e :)) drive
Removable disk (e :))
Removable drive (g)If_Yes_you can download photos from there. Left click
the drive letter that corresponds to the memory card must
display the directory of the card and you can copy and paste or
Drag and drop the photo/s of your choice in a folder on your hard drive
drive.Just a picture selected (highlighted) right click and choose... Copy...
then navigate to the folder you want it saved in and right click the
folder and choose Paste. If the steps above do not give a visible photo is apparently
altered in the camera. There are the software
to recover corrupted photos but they can be expensive.A Google search for ' recover corrupted JPEG "may be useful to
a try. The following links are just a few examples:The following programs are not free, but the demo
versions will be preview files that can be recovered.PixRecovery

Sandee
You can open the scan with Windows Paint?
You scan from within photo gallery?
... File / import from a camera or scanner...
Have you tried to save the .jpg scan to a folder
and then add the folder to the Gallery?... File / include a folder in the gallery...
