prompt location service for calendar

whenever I boot my macbook air, I get a pop up asking if I want to allow calendar.app to use my position.  I choose always allow and I shot on location Services in system preferences, but it continues to moves each time you start.  BTW, calendar is not in the list of applications in location-based services, only maps, weather, and safari.  using os x 10.11.3

You don't have calendars in this list? I think that would be your problem; I have it.

Calendar needs to access your location if you're going to meetings meeting places.

Click OK to continue the synchronization of data with your new default service.

  • iOS 10 location Service in Safari and Chrome

Location service does not work after upgrade to iOS 10.

The Safari and Chrome stop working.

My camera's iPhone 6 sec more

    Hi there tungfromdenver!

Welcome to the communities of Apple Support!  Thank you for bringing your question about location Services no longer works after having recently upgraded to iOS 10.  I rely on location Services in this many apps, so I know how important it is to work properly for Safari.  It's my pleasure to help you today.

I will first go through this article to make sure that the location Services settings are correct:

Use GPS and location Services for applications on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

In particular, I want you to check that location Services are turned on for Safari and Chrome.

    Best wishes.

  • Reminders in the absence of list of location Services

I try to activate reminders of location based in ios10 on my iphone 6s, but when I go into settings-> privacy-> location enabling services I don't see recalls on the list of applications.  Location service is activated and I changed my sync reminder to iCloud only (rather than Exchange), but it is yet to appear.

When I go into settings-> privacy-> reminders, all I see is gray text saying "The apps that have requested access to your reminders will appear here."  No other option.

Someone has ideas of how I can receive reminders to appear on my list of location-based services application so I can enable location based reminders?  Thank you!

    Hello kevdoog,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. It is my understanding reminders is no longer an option of location service after update to iOS 10. I often use the location based reminders, I can certainly understand your concern. I'm happy to help you to get this resolved with you.

First of all, I recommend you reboot the phone. This can solve many unexpected behaviours. Follow the steps below to restart.

    1. Press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Red slider appears.
    2. Drag the slider to turn off your device completely off.
    3. Once the device turns off, press and hold the sleep/wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

Restart your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

If the problem persists, reset location Services by going to settings > general > reset > reset card and privacy. Once this is done apps will be stop using your location until approval is granted.

    Have an amazing day!

  • Features vs iPhone location services

1 rental Services is the single most noticeable drain on my battery (4 s).  I prefer to keep off.

    2. turn on, which seems like it might be a simple toggle on the top-shot screen, is buried to four taps deep into the settings Menu.  Turn requires the same thing, MORE a single tap more confirmation.

    3. I've heard that the software update by default to the location of the Services ON.

    4. why the pressure to allow this service?  Who gets to know my position?  Who benefits from this knowledge?

This afternoon I wanted to know if my local library was still open.  Each variation of the investigation, Siri demanded location Services to be activated, even if the question was framed in terms of 'calendar' and 'open hours,' with the name of the library - single without ambiguity.  I drove to the building instead.

Feature request: toggle button Location Services to drag to the top screen.  If "it works."

  • IOS10 location services

Since the upgrade to iOS 10, Safari gives me an error of position "unavailable" when I navigate to sites that use this feature.  Location service is enabled for Safari and I don't have this problem with other applications.  Is this a known issue?

    Thank you

Location service now seems to require an HTTPS (SSL/TSL) connection, regardless of the browser and the browser settings.

  • I can't turn on location Services

When I try to click on the button to activate the location service, it takes some time, lights and turns off immediately.

    System Preferences

    May be a corrupt .plist.

Make a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

    Quit the application.

Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder.  Select the library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist.  Move the .plist on your desktop.

Restart your computer, open the application and test. If it works fine, delete the plist for the office.

If the application is the same, return the .plist where you got it, crushing the latest.

  • iPad Mini location Service no longer works

Last month, I've updated my Mini iPad for iOS 7.1 to 9.3.2 just to play PokeGO (the first time after 2 1/2 years of use without updating my iPad). After the update, the location of Services/GPS works fine on Apple and Google Maps maps with no signs of problems, I could even enter the game PokeGO (even if the game is buggy mess from the start).

But one day when 9.3.3 update went live, he always ask me to update my iPad, but when I tried to open all cards, the location of GPS and Services no longer works. I tried to reset the router, turning the deactivation/activation of location Services, and then reset network settings and location on my iPad, but still not solved.

And just recently I've updated my iPad to 9.3.4 because my theory is that the location/GPS will not work without having to install the last update, but I gave up that my iPad is already bricked because the location Services and applications required GPS are now rendered useless.

Your iPad mini is a cell with GPS model if it is not the case, your location is only estimated from IP addresses and WiFi. That said, you should check the settings for applications, in order to ensure that access to the site is enabled. And if this is the case, turn it and turn it back on for each of them. You did such a big jump in versions of iOS it is difficult to know what security changes have been made. You should probably reconsider all your settings, as if it were a new configuration. Also, make sure that your applications are all updated.

  • Solution on how to remove always on location service in the status bar

Think about the last apps that you use which has led to the appearance of the purpose of the location in the status bar

The problem is most likely due to resources are still used by these applications even if you restart your iPhone, many times

The sign of location service can keep here.

I tried the solution without help.

It's a chance that I remembered the last apps I used is Runkeeper

I went to this apps and ended.

    The problem can be solved.

    Disable background refresh App

And also go to turn OFF the location for that Service the app & confidentiality if you think that location services is not useful for the App

  • Deliver location Services

    iMac, end of 2015

    iPod 5th generation Touch.

Since arriving in a new home several miles from our previous stay, location Services was unable to determine my 'current location '.

I am somewhat isolated here and not in the scope of other WiFi networks.  Since location uses services nearby WiFi networks to triangulate the location of my base station, it seems that I have more chance.  Apple used to use Skyhook Wireless as a database for base stations and you can submit your Lat/Long. and the MAC address of your router and that would solve this problem, but unfortunately Apple uses more Skyhook.

So here I am in the middle of a cornfield in Iowa and unable to use the maps, weather apps or any other application that requires location on my iMac or iPod Touch services.

According to reports, if you connect to a Wi - Fi network with an iPhone, the location of the network will be sent to Apple and added to the database after a period of time. An iPhone, unlike other Apple devices, has built-in GPS satellite navigation and therefore can locate itself regardless of Wi - Fi. The phone will be charged to share diagnostic and information about using with Apple.

  • IPhone hacked, how to deepen the control of location services?

So my router, mac and iphone got hacked, more than likely by the FBI.  They were investigating a person in my building, but it has proved to be a dead end.  Apparently, they decided to illegally monitor me.  My location service is initially resembled the image as an attachment, with the error message of the filling.  Now, I can't even access the tab "Location services" because it is faded and I can't draw in this.  I would like to get information from my phone to apple because I am sure that my phone has been violated by an iMessage randomly that I received.  Any ideas on how I can have apple examine how he missed their OS 9.3 on my phone?  The other problem is that I'm in Puerto Rico, where there is no apple on the island store and I won't be back on the Mainland for some time.

I also sent the screenshot of iMessage in question to the [email protected] but did not receive an automatic reply, so I don't know if apple never received.  In any case, to check if it has been received?

Unless you have jailbroken your iPhone, it could not have been hacked away. There is no way to "violate" an iPhone via a random iMessage. If iMessage takes you to a link that asks you if you want to install a profile and press 'Ok', there are a limited number of things that anyone could join. To check this, go to settings > general > device management and delete everything that you are not familiar with.

  • Location Services does not-Macbook Pro and iPad 2

I read through many questions is similar with location services. I recently moved from Shenyang in the northeast of China in Beihai in the South. The MacbookPro or my iPad can find my position. Before moving here, the two pieces of material worked well in Shenyang.

The WiFi router I use is new (TP-Link TL-WR886N) and issued by the local network provider. There have been is several posts suggesting that some routers cannot pass on location data - possible to determine in the configuration of the router?

I've been in System Preferences and China as my area with the "checkmark" automatic time zone setting zone will display the message "cannot determine the current location at this time." Location icon is not displayed in the menu bar. If I 'look' in location services watch poster cards tried to use location services.

I have a Huawei smartphone with a version of the load maps and it works perfectly, to the extent of showing that my location is concerned; the downside is that the cards are in Chinese only, something with that I am fighting to familiarize themselves.

Would it be possible to use the Huawei (Android) phone as a mobile hotspot that my IPad maps app could use? I had then matched but so far ' cards, does not pick up location data.

Location services (including the automatic selection of the zone maps and 'Find my Mac') is based on a database of known locations with Wi - Fi access points. You do not have to be connected to a wireless network, but WiFi must be active and to reach one of these access points. Otherwise the machine will not located at all, or location will be wrong. Sometimes the location will be incorrect because the database contains incorrect data. What happens, for example, if you moved from one place to another and taken your Wi - Fi router with you. The router is still listed in the database, but in the old location.

  • Location services does not

I have an iPad 2, iOS updated.  Recently a new internet modem to wi IFIs has been installed by the ISP.  Location services no longer works fo one of my applications.  Any suggestions as to what may be the cause and resolution.

Your iPad gave cell phones? If this is not the case, your iPad can only use location services 'wifi based' no GPS.

This means that you will get less accurate results. The wifi database will be eventually updated by Apple (or other providers). Finally, who will fix the problem.

To improve the accurate situation use a third party as an Elf of the AfDB or similar GPS device.

Different methods are used to collect wifi location data, like Google street view cars (Apple have their own). You may be able to contribute to the speed, updates by activating "diagnostics and usage" on a device iOS with GPS, "improving the services of Apple" is a euphemism for the treatment of many types of data collected.

  • Issue with IPhone 6 location Services - showed me 60 miles from where I was!

On 26 September this year, I left my home to go to work security at an event. Left after 08:00 and pulled into the parking lot of the expo center where he stood right at 830. Spent the whole day there to walk, talking to sellers, etc.. My wife is using find my Iphone app to locate my teenage son who was late home. We were all sharing connection of an Apple (we all have separate apple ID now), and my phone shows me about 60 miles away at 16:50. My position then showed about 5 miles from where I was working before bouncing to the wrong address about 60 miles away. She ping my phone by finding my phone shortly after and it shows me about a mile away before finally arriving at my real place. Looked at my phone when I got home. I checked my phone via the settings > privacy > Location Services > System Services > common places and he showed me the wrong place from 0800 to 1730. I was inside all the time in a building that is known for bad cell service. Building is also equipped with a wi - fi connection. Many sellers did business on their phones and possible hot spots. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what might have caused it. The phone seems to show the correct location after that.

    Thank you

If the event was inside, the phone couldn't use the GPS (or cell phone because of the wrong signal towers) and was locate via Wi - Fi, of the building or the sellers.  If Wi - Fi the building wasn't in the Apple database, because it has not taken over by iPhones outside the building that uses the GPS and location sent to Apple, your phone would be stuck with WiFi from the vendor for the location.  He could end up with last recoded location of seller.
