Proof of Concept w / ESX + LeftHand VSA

Hello

I'll set up a lab for the proof of concept environment. My infrastructure plan is:

2 ESXi hosts

Left 2 VSA

1 box of Physics for the execution of vCenter + Lefthand management room

1 layer of extreme Networks Summit 24 400 3 switch port

1 vlan for the esx host / management box

1 vlan for VSA iSCSI traffic

Each of the ESXi hosts have dual port NIC so I figure 1 dedicated to virtual machines and 1 dedicated to iSCSI

This sounds like a good Setup, any consideration you may think?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This is a test environment - so it depends a lot on what you are testing. I'd rather have 4 NICs - two for the management and VMtraffic - they may be active passive failover to the other on the same vSwitch and then create a separate vSwitch for my iSCSI traffic using the other 2 cards for this network.  If I went into production that I would seek to 6 ports of nic - dedicated NIC for iSCSI traffic, and VM traffic management with resilience and redundancy.

With DPS, you just need an Adobe ID to design a document of proof of concept that could be shared with customer prospecitve through the iPad Viewer application.

Is it possible to do this with AEM, or if a license is required?

To create and manage content in the AEM Mobile authoring environment, you will need an installation of the AEM system.  It is available as an installation on site (on your server) or as a server (in an environment of Adobe).

For production, both options require a license of AEM.

I'll start a proof of concept with a cluster of Microsoft SQL database.  I wonder if this is a common practice to virtualize servers node Windows 2008R2 and SQL 2008R2.  Resources or shared experiences would be great.

I virtualized dozens of SQL servers, in my view, the general concern around "can virtualize us it? ' is only ever related to sellers who wrote a policy in 2001 and have not updated. Build your virtual machines, to deal with the same time as the physical servers, this will be quite although labour.

  • HP Lefthand VSA

    Anyone used Lefthand VSA?

We want to buld a multisite FT using ESXi cluster and wondered if HP VSA would be a viable solution instead of going with a SAN hardware.

If we want to have lets say cluster host 2 on the main site, and if it fails, we move to the secondary site.

    Thank you

    Amjad.

The SBA uses the same exact software as physical P4000 products. As long as your server hardware is strong enough and your link to your secondary site is fast enough, you can use the VSA for this. We actually just released a white paper that covers this configuration in detail, it does not specifically using the ASB, but you can replace the physical P4000 with the ASB. Configuring SAN/iQ everything would be the same.

  • LeftHand VSA 8 with VSR 7 and SRM U1

I'm not having any luck get LeftHand VSA ver 8 and VSR worm 7 working with Site Recover Manager 1 U1.  Anyone know how I can download LeftHand VSA ver 7 or find a VSR update which works with LeftHand VSA 8 and MRS?

I tried the left for the old version of VSA web site with no luck.

I would switch to EMC Celerra VSA if I could find a download of it.

Looks like you have a bad version matching.  Here's what you need to use:

    VSA - 8.0.00.1712

    SRA - 8.0.00.1682

    CMC - 8.0.00.1704

You use these versions?  Looks like the CMC or the SRA can be different.

Yes, I was doing the demo using left and facing a similar question. It seems that this error has surfaced after HP LeftHand resumed :). What I saw is people have success with an earlier version of the left hand.

  • Proof of Concept PPR

    Dear members,

I have an OFA Page where I display 6 table of database entries in Table Format.

My requirement is when the user clicks a line any in the table based on the value of a field I want to restrict the update to another field

Let's say I have two columns Col1, Col2. These two columns are displayed in the 6 ranks.

Col1 is messageLovInput Style and Col2 messageStyledText style.

Now, when the user clicks on the 1st folder, I'll check the value in Col2. If the value in Col2 is "APPROVED" so I want to col1 of the 1st record to read-only.

I want to know how to achieve this requirement by using the PPR concept.

Please please give me some suggestions to achieve this requirement.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Working on a proof of Concept and I was wondering what does everyone out there?

So I'm in the middle of a VINE, but we're not replace desktop users, while giving them an additional office so that they can TEST.  Users are currently using Windows XP, and the new ENVIRONMENT will be Windows 7.  So my question is what does everyone out there in this situation? You are doing the same thing and identify USE cases and then using double desktop computers during the trial period? Also, I know I'll run into compatibility issues moving from XP to Windows 7, applications how did all handle this part? ThinApp?

It is not a VMware tool, but Microsoft's Application Compatibility Toolkit might be able to help to identify potential problems with Windows XP applications and correct or mitigate them before moving on to Windows 7. You can download version 5.6 here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=7352. I've used it before, and it is generally very useful. As with ThinApp though, it really helps to know your applications when using the law.

In regards to adoption by users of test, I found that if you give them two options during the trial period, they have inevitably will gravitate back to their old familiar on the new desktop view traditional PC, even if the desktop view works better. Best results I got were from the old PC power off and give users customers light to test with, as the other posters suggested. Another option would be to change the shell of the user in question (on their existing PC) to the VMware View Client is everything that manifests when they connect. All their stuff would still be there on the PC, but they could not really go in the way that they are familiar with, that they would have to use the desktop for the duration of the test. Then, when the test is complete, you can change the shell just back to Explorer.exe.

The shell can be set by using the following registry value:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\shell

Just change this to Explorer.exe the full path to the Client view.

OK, the inevitable is here. I need audio for my VM to do proof of concept.

It is even possible in ESX 3.5 U2?

Hmmm... I never thought of that before. We give our users access to powerpoint, but most of them use it... my boss would have said them difficult if they complained about not having his property.

for our case, us upgrade it to version 7 of material for our implementation. I advise you to do so just to be "updated" Although there is no advantage because of VSA (which is a very striped BONE down).

Do you have a relationship of distance between the primary SBA and the ASB remote copy?  If the copy relationship SRM may not recognize the storage.  Also is there a test VM on the volume which you will be copying?

  • Simple question PowerCLI?

So - I used PowerCLI 5.8 release 1, and I write a simple script - but do not get the correct feedback...

a single vCenter (5.5 appliance, build 1750787), several hosts, but I cleaved off 2 hosts in a cluster proof-of-concept/test (the cluster is called POC).

    POC1 $= Get-Cluster POC | Get-VMhost

    foreach ($esx in $POC1) {Get-VMHostNetworkAdapter - physics - name vmnic1}

The question that I keep running into is that while that line-1 works perfectly, showing me the 2 hosts in the cluster of POC, however, line-2 shows me all the vmnic1 all hosts connected to the vCenter. I know I'm missing something - probably simple. I can't find anything in the syntax. the only thing I can think is that the $esx is wrong. I tried $VMHost and a few others, but all with the same result. what Miss me? (apart from a few balls).

    Here you go

    POC1 $= Get-Cluster POC | Get-VMhost

    foreach ($esx in $POC1) {$esx |} Get-VMHostNetworkAdapter-physics - name vmnic1}

  • vSAN - vSAN will recognize my SSD?

VSAN will recognize my SSD if it is saved as a RAID 0 on a HP P400/P410/P420, P800, P810 etc... RAID controller?

Technically, the only way to configure a single hard drive on these controllers is put this drive in RAID 0.

My proof of concept test as ESX VM on workstation worked, but only because I was able to deceive the ESX vm in thought among the LUN has been an SSD.

    Thank you

If your controllers do not support 'passthrough' that a RAID-0 set for one SSD is needed and it is more than likely that need to label as "SSD". Here's an example of how you do that: feign an SSD in your yellow bricks virtualized - vSphere lab

  • Nested ESXi hosts and iSCSI POC

    People,

I want to set up a proof of concept for a two host, two models NAS for my workplace. At this point, I put a host of ESXi nested using this Vcritical guide - http://www.vcritical.com/2011/07/vmware-vsphere-can-virtualize-itself/

This made wonder. I have two virtual servers within the main install ESXi with the three hosts on the network 192.168.0.x. I then added a second NETWORK adapter on the 'server' and separated from the network iSCSI (192.168.1.x) and pointed to a simple NAS. This went well now. The problem is the hosts nested cannot access the iSCSI network.

It's all a bit above my paygrade, but I can't work on how I can get the hosts nested on the iSCSI network. I tried to add network cards second in virtual computers running virtual hosts and their allocation to the 192.168.1.x network.

Can anyone help to shed light? Someone you will understand my question or what I'm doing? I hope so!

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Your primary host see the iscsi network and connect to your nas Server?

It should just be a case of creating a VM portgroup on this same vswitch, with settings of appropriate VLANs if necessary, assigning your esx hosts nested this portgroup vNIC. On the nested hosts themselves, you will need to implement the initiator software iscsi etc. as usual.
