Protect/secure ESXi

I use ESXi to accommodate a small number of public web servers. I use a 10.0.0.0/24 net for ESXi management and guests are in a net 192.168.1.0/16.

Constantly, I read about how there are new ways to attack networks, especially those that make use of the guests and virtual hosts. I find a bit of information but most seem to be business partner. What should I do to protect Setup other than what I've done and the usual things such as a network firewall of course and other things of standard server.

In other words, are there special things I should do to protect the guests on ESXi and ESXi itself remote users?

My setup is as follows.

ESXi hosts are blades on a BladeCenter chassis.

Each blade has a direct access to FC storage units.

Each host runs directly off the FC storage.

Thank you.

Hello

You already stated the question you have, at the level of the chassis/pSwitch what looks like you stuck your natachasery... That you can not do.

To use NIC0 for SC, all you have to do in ESX is assign NIC0 to SC vSwitch.

To use NIC1 VM network all you have to do in ESX is a new vSwitch and assign them NIC1 this vSwitch.

Simple to make.

However, do not glue the ports on the switch of level or physical chassis.

2 vSwitches 1 Teddy allocated to each... This is the side of things ESX. If you have any other questions with the traffic watching your pSwitch configuration it sounds incorrect if the binding is involved. These ports must NOT be glued to the pSwitch.

This looks like an IBM Blade and if so, there are several good descriptions on this and how to solve the problem of IBM and others.

pSwitch<->pNIC0<->vSwitch0 (Service Console/Management Appliance)
pSwitch<->pNIC1<->vSwitch1 (the VM network)

    Is windows security essentials, a goog antivirus & malware, and it protect me when shopping online or Bill to pay? (name of account #'s and credit card # "s and personal identity?)

    If you mean Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) then it's a complete anti-malware program that offers protection in real time. Make sure that you get it from a reliable source that there are has many programs to fake on the web which are in themselves the malware. If you want, here's a real link to download MSE:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/security-essentials-download .

    Software anti-malware is important, but there is more to ensure the safety of your data:

    S ' ensure that you have a good firewall running. The built-in Windows Firewall should be enough for most people.

    -Select Windows Update for the recommended settings for you sure get all Windows security updates as soon as they are available.

    -Update 3 third-party programs such as Flash Player and Java they get security patches too.

    Finally and probably also important that any software is the user who must try to keep abreast of security issues such as:

    -fake phone calls for technical support;

    -Send phishing scams;

    -never joined unexpected opening;

    -lottery scam emails.

    etc.

  • Protection against viruses with ThinkVantage Toolbox

    Recently I had to change antivirus software as a change in University policy. Now, we use Microsoft Security Essentials. However to change antivirus software our computers are still showing the old anti-virus software in the box to ThinkVantage tools--> network--> Virus protection security.

    Instead of the ThinkVantage tool box to uninstall and reinstall, there should be a beneficial way to address this problem. Otherwise, users will continue to receive the red X in the Toolbox and the icon on the lower screen.

    Will there be an update ThinkVantage Toolbox to fix this? We are also users XP and planned not to migrate quickly our laptops soon.

    Hello
    This situation is due to the fact, that directly when you installed ThinkVantage Toolbox it combines all the inside info.
    Now, what you face are the correct behavior of this application.
    Here's how you can let this go away:
    -uninstall the Toolbox
    s ' ensure that it is removed also in %ProgramFiles% %, registry and %programfiles%\Common files
    -* reboot the machine.
    -Install the Toolbox back

    The main readon is that metadata is always in the stored registry, you must delete it, so that the information will be reloaded.

    See you soon

  • Install or not to install: "Webroot Antivirus with spy sweeper" and "Norton Internet security".

    original title: install or have not installed?

    I am very confused about the difference between "Webroot Antivirus with spy sweeper" and "Norton Internet security". They are both asking me to click on install. They provide the same service? What one do need me more? Windows 7 is already a certain protection/security installed in? I'm afraid to install anything that is not "Microsoft". I heard that too much protection can get an infected computer. My new computer is not yet a year old, I want to keep it in good shape for as long as possible.

    The real risk of installing more of an anti-virus program is that they do not work well together and can cause system performance slow and computer lock-up and others.  You should only choose an antivirus product and install it.  Microsoft Windows comes with a limited program called "Windows Defender" that protects against spyware/adware, but no virus, but if you prefer a Microsoft solution, you can download and install "Microsoft Security Essentials" that offers more protection.  Personally, I also use and recommend MSE and have never had a problem with it.

    Make sure that you uninstall Webroot and Norton Internet Security before installing MSE.

  • Should I install Norton Antivirus on my Mac El Capitan?

    Hello.  Windows laptop to my husband was recently infected with the zepto ransomware. (Nightmare and we consider very careful.  In the interest of keeping at least 2 copies of disk hard of absolutely everything!  It also infected Dropbox and OneDrive, destroy them.  These people are evil).

    We have improved our security Norton to Premium, which includes protection for 10 devices, including Mac.

    What I should install Norton Premium on my Mac, or is existing protection/security/firewall Mac good enough?  Do not wish to compromise my Mac, if integrated protection is the best to use.  Thank you.  (Recognizing some quick advice.)

    FranNewForest wrote:

    Please do not install all this software protection on a Mac. It is not necessary.

    Yes, the built-in protection is good enough.

    Keep the OS X and other applications update.

    Yes, you can see the diagram of Panel or front block, but you can still use the code

    I think it's a HUGE security hole when it relates to intellectual property.

    For example I am an algrothim of license and pay a lot of money for this and if the user can extract this algrothim and use it at will and do not have to pay the fee then sucks

    I currently use a usb HASP for protection security key and tried to protect the executable file and that doesn't stop what is happening, so I guess that there is a protection for this but do it outside of LabVIEW
