PSCC - question of file name

Hi guys,.

With the help of Photoshop CC, nobody what the asterisk means inside the tab name? It is inside the caliper, outside, that would mean not saved. I use 16 bit files across and ProPhoto RGB working space. The files are transferred in and out of Lightroom 5.2 as my front end.

e.g. Nikon D700-4162 - ME.tif @ 21.9% (RGB/16 *)

Thank you

Lyndon

It's an interesting question.  I just learned something:

  • Question about file names and organization

    Background

I connected my camera to my iMac and downloaded my photos directly into iPhoto without ever thinking about it. I just thought it was the way to do it.  Now that I began to rethink the organization / structure of how I want to drop my photos I find myself with what to do on all my previous photos.

    Question

I am wanting to rename all the photos of my real FILE NAME to a certain format that I read recently on the subject, and I wonder about how this topic with all the previous pictures I imported into iPhoto.

Is my only option to EXPORT all of the photos to a certain spot on my hard drive, rename them and then re - import in the iPhoto library, or possibly create a whole new library?

I understand that the change of name to a photo in iPhoto does nothing for the name of the file on the computer so I'm looking for all of the options that I might have.

    iPhoto v9.5.1

    iMac 27 end 2009

    OS X 10.9.5

    3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo

    16 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Is my only option to EXPORT all of the photos to a certain spot on my hard drive, rename them and then re - import in the iPhoto library, or possibly create a whole new library?

Yes. It's your only option to change the file names.  But here's the thing: If the photo is in iPhoto, then the file name is not just serious. Not at all. Never.

So it would be totally useless.

Replace the title by any means, and then if you move ever leaving iPhoto you can export using the title as the file name.

I don't know what naming scheme you will think, but be sure that it involves no character ' / '. Avoid colon.

  • Printers Multifunction LaserJet Pro 476DN: Scan to Email - questions of file name

When scanning to email, files always sent as "Scan.pdf", how can we change it so it includes a code of time as part of the file name?

    Hello

    This cannot be done.

Since the server integrated Web (which is accessible by typing the printer IP address in your browser), you can open the scan tab and click e-mail Options.

Of you can change the file name prefix as required, but which do allow use of specific prefix, not a dynamic date and time... those are are included in the email itself and can not be added to the fileame.

  • Question about file names

I'm new to the Web design; I recently took a job of designing a Web site, and he went up with success. I'm rethinking the entire site, even if, as we were on a time crunch and we have time to come back and do everything the right way now. An odd question that I run upward against, however, is that when the site opens, on the tab of the browser that is supposed to say the name of the Web site, it displays the name of my file instead. Is there a way to fix this in Dreamweaver?

Well, you will see a small text field in the bar code - Split - Design. In this text box put in the name you want to appear.

You can also switch to Code view and locate an HTML tag called title and put the name in there

Name of the Web site here

I recommend that you learn some HTML and CSS if you are serious about web design. Another thing you must be sure to send a message.

You can start learning HTML here: http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp

Really lets Dreamweaver, you can see what you're doing but learning that language is very important too.

  • question moveTo file name change

    Hi guys

If you want to change the case of a filename for example...

    filename.txt

    TO...

Filename.txt (using moveTo to make this survey a mistake, that the file already exists)

.. is there no way to do that doesn't involve add arbitrary characters first, or actually make a copy of the file?  for example...

    filename.txt

    TO...

    FILENAME_arbitrary_chars_here.txt

    TO...

    Filename.txt

    ?

    Bravo guys

I'm not clear on where it comes from, but if you rename a file, thenwhy not rename twice, first to change it to something else, then to change the name you want.  Another option would be to copy the data from the file, delete the file and write the data to a new file with the name you want.

  • File name options

    Hello

    Question about file name options.

It is now crayed out, what is the best thing to do... Leaves as it is.

Or turn it off. For what?

    Tonefile name metadata.jpg

Are you trying to change the file name? If Yes, then you should uncheck the option "even as a page Name" and you should be able to configure a new file name.

This option does not apply to the homepage index.html.

  • The HTML - output folder Option and the path of file name change question

In the HTML Options to file and output file name I was wondering if I can change the name of the .chm automatically listed when I click on properties?

For example, when I click on properties for ABC_v456, which is a SSL in the project ABC123, I see "C:\Projects\ABC_v123\!" SSL!\Help_v456\ABC123.chm' in the output folder and file name field.  I would rename ABC123.chm in ABC456.chm for the love of light. When I compile it will then create a file .chm by ABC456.chm name rather than the name of the ABC123.chm file? I would have then two SSL in the HTML project called Help_v123 and Help_v456each and their respective .chm would be within each folder.  I speak of the sense or is this clarification requiring gibberish on my part? I use Robohelp HTML v7.

    Hi karima

You should be able to freely appoint the CHM everything that makes sense for you in the field.

I remember that too, you are perhaps involved in the development of CSH. If the name of the file could play an important role in that. But even after you generate the help, you should be able to rename it if you wish.

    See you soon... Rick

  • Multiple images with the same file name no doubt prevent export

iMac running OS X El Capitan v10.11.6; Photos 1.5

I'm trying to export approximately 331 images and I get an error report saying that only 169 of the exported images due to the inability to create files for 159 of the images.  Then the report gives me the names of files of the first 100 images for which files were not created.  After looking at many images that would not create a file, I realized that, in any case, there was at least one, if not several, other images with the SAME EXACT FILE name as the image in question.  I can't change the names of files by right click on "info".  I tried to export the images and change the names of files to export using the sequential option and the option of album name - always having exactly the same problem.  I even tried not to export an image at once and change the name of the file individually or no available. Is there a work around that? I desperately need to export those specific images. I am trying to create a photo album for shown to mothers who choose a family with which you want to place their child/ren for adoption. I'm at my wit's end.  The kicker is I'm moving towards trying to export all my pictures, and that's going to be a HUGE problem in course for me, so I really hope that there is a way around this question somewhat simply. I am a hobby photographer and use the computer for businesses and crafts.  I've seen a few posts that included answers referencing "AppleScript" - I have no idea how to do something like that.

From here on I will DEFINITELY ensure that my Canon continually numbers the names of image files and automatically resets.  For the other photos other than Canon, is possible to rename images during the import of the lot?

All advice and help will be GREATLY appreciated!

Finder has the ability to rename files with various models of lot.  Simply select all the files to rename, right-click one of the selected files, choose 'Rename X points... '. ", and then set the options and click on the button"Rename ".

  • Try to restore a lost Thunderbird profile, but can't "move profile" because the file names are too long

I'm having a problem with Thunderbird that is addressed in several comments here and on "mozillaZine", but trying to follow the instructions for fixing it, I ran into a new problem that I see not addressed. The initial problem is that described in this thread, where my files and everything just disappeared, and I am invited to start to create a new profile:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/1040003

Following the links in this thread, I get to this - and since my address book has also apparently gone, I click the internal link to the section titled 'Lost profile':

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared

Step 1 then sent me here:

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

Step 2 on this page says: "Copy the profile folder where you want to store." When I try to do it, however (using Windows Explorer on Windows 7), he gets to halfway through the copy and then hang up because it clashes with a file name that is too long to copy. And according to the prompt that tells me this, there are many more yet to come long file names.

Ignore this error and I just ignore these files? That means the copy of profile won't be complete, which I think would be dangerous or would just cause other errors. Or is there some simpler way quite do what I originally planned to do, which is to recover the profile which has mysteriously disappeared?

Again, I'm under Thunderbird on Windows 7 and it was used for years without ever encountering this extremely irritating glitch. I'll be grateful for any help.

Here are three different approaches, I suggest:

1 see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles and see if you can switch to that you want to use the Profile Manager.

    2. While TB is NOT running, use a prompt with the following commands: Note: place the entire path in quotation marks.

    • CD "the full path of your current profile directory name '.
    • xcopy "the full path of your"good"profile name" / s/h
    • now check with the Windows Explorer, and switch to him as above

3 change "profiles.ini" (using a text editor such as Notepad) to point to the profile 'good '. "profiles.ini" looks like this:

    [General]
    StartWithLastProfile = 1

    [Profile0]
    Name = default
    IsRelative = 1 * change this to 0 *.
Path = yt20rg5n.default * change this to the path and the name of your profile of "good."
    Default = 1

Let me know how it turns out.

  • How to save an email in .eml format and customize the name of the file, for example the file name will be ' date, time, sender, title "?

It would be fantastic if when save my emails on my computer the file name can be customized to be something different than just the title of the message. As I suggested in the question, if it could be set up to be "date, time, sender, title" that would be great, much assistance during the passage of a .eml files between colleagues, or just simply organize your emails into folders. Is this possible and if yes, how does one?

Install ImportExportTools then adjust the Options (see photo).

  • How can I copy paste JUST the file name in apple mail?

    Hi all

Sounds like a simple question - but when I want to copy a file name of some media on my desk - I cmd - C then when I paste in new apple mail - it sticks the actual file - not what I want...

Q: How can I copy paste a file JUST * name * (text) in apple mail?

Select the file, and then click the name. It will be obvious, then command + C.

  • What sign of punctuation is allowed in file names?

I just learned that a file name can have a hyphen, but not a colon. If you type a colon when recording or to save as in Pages, the changes of the colon to a hyphen.

Finder warns you at least you cannot use 'punctuation', although you can use apostrophes, periods, parentheses, hyphens, etc..

But the Pages (5.6.2) will change the colon in a link without telling you. (I work from home and save a lot, a lot of files.)

What punctuation marks are not allowed in file names?

Or is it a more general which must be subject to another jurisdiction?

    Thank you

    Bill

Filenames can use Union or underscores. Semicolons are a delimiter (such as with the forward slash) in the underlying works so that their presence could cause confusion. In the same way stops can cause problems. Question marks may indicate the beginning of a sequence of script in the URL and should be avoided. Diacritics appear to work OK on a Mac, but if the files are likely to go to Windows or be part of a Web site, then there may be problems, so better avoided.

There are a few specific problems: Macs are not case-sensitive - file and file are of the same name. However some servers and in particular if the file is used for a Web site, are case-sensitive, so problems may arise; avoid having filenames no differentiated only by capitalization. And in the specific case of Web sites, or multimedia files online, spaces are not allowed in a URL, and should be avoided (there is no problem with local files).

  • File name too long in Microsoft Excel 2008?

I have Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac and I'm a big user of Excel.  Often, I receive an error message indicating that the file path that I specify when you create a new file is too long.  I am convinced that earlier versions of Mac OS x did not produce this error, or at least worked better.  I'm 10.11.4, OSX but I suffered with this problem for some time.  I read other reviews, stating that there may be a limit of 259 characters for the file name and path.

My question: can someone tell me if this path length limitation has been removed or the less liberalised in the latest version of Excel?  Should an upgrade just to get rid of this nasty problem.

    Thank you...

  • When I opened the window "save the Page under", the drop-down box file name indicates the files that have been saved a long time ago. It is not cleared by a function 'clear history' that I can find. How can I erase this?

    1. Question

When I opened the window "save the Page under", the drop-down box file name indicates the files that have been saved a long time ago. It is not cleared by a function 'clear history' that I can find. How can I erase this?

    Hello.

I think this is a related issue of Windows, because it is the Manager to save the windows file that we are talking about here (right?). You should contact Microsoft for help with this one, I think. You expect to be able to delete entries simply by touching delete on your keyboard when they are concentrated (that is how it goes for the removal of the form entries specific autocomplete in Firefox), but I have not tried.

    I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

  • How and why does a file name as 20160312103251.m2ts becomes 0003.mts?

How and why does a file name as 20160312103251.m2ts becomes 0003.mts?

How to make the .m2ts in a .mts?

    Hi HiView,

.Mts and .m2ts file extensions is not a real difference as these two are associated with AVCHD files. The file extension can differ depending on how you import the files on your computer. Files that are imported by drag and drop, or transfer them without using PlayMemories House are registered as .mts files. While those who are copied using PlayMemories House are read as .m2ts files. You can change the file extension and also rename the whole file, clicking on the video, then select Properties. The file name and other data will appear to the right of the window. You can then rename or change the format of file through this tab.
