Put network advise for new installation ESXi

OK please bare with me as I'm still new in the world of "vmware". I am about to install our new server vm infrastructure and hoped some advice and guidance to make sure I understand the first time...

I have two physical hosts with a new ESXi 4.1 installation. Each host has six physical gigabit NIC that I plan on the use of iSCSI and vmotion. I have also two HP without HP gigabit switches and two. On each host, I intend to configure the following networking:

vSwitch0
-the vm network

-service console

vswitch1
-iscsi

vswitch2

-vmotion

Each vswitch will have two physical cards for purposes of Multipathing (one network adapter for each HP switch). HP switches are not stacked as I like to keep independent and to avoid any downtime if a switch fails. Also, the HP without having two network cards and will be attached to each of the HP switches. I have two Setup VLANS on switches HP, the first vlan is part of my regular business network and the other is just for traffic iscis/vmotion.

Before going any further... does that make sense and its sensitive so far?

Hello and welcome to the forums.

I would follow the advice of Edward Haletky in "gears Blue - 6 NIC with VMware ESX physical."

Good luck!

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

  • How to reinstall the Windows 7 upgrade on vista for new installation or in the event of system failure?

I love periodically re - install a new operating system after reformatting hadr drive. In the past it was the of syetem of full operation and not just an upgrade. I have to be sure that it is not complicated, as I want to install the upgrade to Windows 7 (family pack) on 3 PC/laptops running Vista. I would upgrade as detailed instructions on how I would do a new installation using the Windows 7. This is important because I don't want to create a nightmarish experience of backup, install the original operating system, install the upgrade, etc. etc. etc.

If you upgrade a computer Vista Win7 and need or want to do a clean install (or repair install) of Windows, you will need to reinstall Vista and then switch to Win7 again.

Your question has nothing to do with Windows Update. Ask questions about the upgrade instead: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/threads ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft

  • Creating a backup of the WIN7 OS only for new installation; is this possible? If yes tell me how please.

Well, then I want to get a new drive hard but with a greater capacity. Mine is 320GB and I want to upgrade to 500 GB. I have two laptops and one I would like to back up the operating system for a new installation (for the other computer hp g56-130sa laptop) for the new drive HARD must be installed.

    Can it be done?

Not for another laptop.  If they were the exact same books perhaps, but even in this case this is only a possibility.

If you need to reinstall the operating system on your laptop, you have two choices.  The first and the best choice is to contact HP directly and try to get the recovery disc specific for this laptop.  The second choice is to buy a genuine Windows 7 installation disc.

I suggest that you contact HP because it will be the best solution (and much cheaper).  If you are in the United States / Canada, give them a call at 1-800-474-6836 and talk to a representative for the recovery disc for this laptop.  If you are outside this area, you will need to go to www.hp.com/support to find contact information.

  • USB or HDD space for new server ESXi 5.5 updated 3 current enforcement?

    Hello

We get a new DELL server to run ESXi 5.5 update 3.

Just find out there is an embedded version of ESXi 5.5 update 3 on a USB is connected.

We would like to know what meaning it is best to run ESXi - USB or Local HARD disk?  I think that if she runs on the Local HARD disk, we can remote access via DRAC card.   In addition, we do not use any local HD (i.e. no VSAN) and so there is no loss if VMware runs on the HD.

    Your opinion is requested.

    Thank you

    Hello.

With ESXi on USB/SD is supported by VMware, so no problem here. Remember that if you use these devices, you'd probably set the partition scratching at some storage 'persistent '. I personally use one of the data stores for all guests, I have it in one place.

I don't understand why you assuming that through a port USB as a boot device will not provide access to DCUI via the DRAC? Boot device has no importance here...

  • Tecra 9000 - Download the software for new installation

I lost the disc for my Toshiba Tecra 9000 laptop.

Exactly what software needs to be downloaded to the default configuration for one of these?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

What 9000 model do you have?

All the required drivers and utilities are available for download on the web, but if you mean you want to put the machine in its factory condition, you need the recovery disc that came with the machine.

If you provide the machine part number I can let you know what software has been bundled with it.

  • Re-use of the old Win XP CD for new installations?

I have 2 CD of Win XP Pro from when I bought my old DELL laptop and desktop. The laptop is now dead.

Can I use the CD for a new instrall on a new machine? I have the COA sticker still on the bottom of the laptop, but it is scratched and I can't read the last 4 digits

If it's an OEM license license, he died with the laptop.

  • 0xC004F061, software licensing service determined that the specified product key can only be to improve is not used for new installations

I had a nasty virus on my computer couldn't get rid of him, finally choose was formate and reinstall.

Now I go to activate my vista but cannot do so.  I don't have the original disc that came with the computer to reinstall the original operating system.

I don't want to buy a new key, I've already spent the money on high rank

Legally, you can't do a clean install with upgrade license.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a set of operating system recovery disk/s original.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Reinstall the original OS > then go to Vista.

  • XPS L501X failed HARD drive - need copy of Win 7 for new installation

    Hello

I'm trying to fix the laptop for my nephew who is out of warranty.  I replaced the HARD drive.  The original one would not load the OS and was identified by an on-board diagnostics as the defective HARD drive.  I tried to get a copy of Win 7, but because it's out of warranty assistance automated on the Dell Web site I cannot download a Windows 7 image.  All useful suggestions please.

    Hey Rishi

Before you receive your answer, I came across an answer to someone who has encountered a similar problem.  The advice they received were trying to restore the default settings in the BIOS.  I did and it allowed me to access the HARD disk again.  At the time where I got the recovery for my own laptop (a Dell Inspiron) disc, in DVD of XPS reader.  This enabled me to reload Windows 7 on the laptop XPS, probably only because the HARD drive is no longer was considered defective by the BIOS and the relevant files / drivers to access.

As a precaution, I used the installation backup Dell to save different data files before migrating to the HARD drive in the set of an SSD, I was installing.  Unfortunately, the backup did not work as I hope and proved to be useless to retrieve the data as different files in the backup lacked.  I assume that this is because the HARD drive is faulty (even though I have not checked since I was the system working again, after spending more time than expected as the whole.)  I used the information provided to prepare a Win7 disc should be necessary in the future, thank you.

  • Configuration of the network card for my installation

    Hello

Host machine: Windows-7, wireless, wired network card network card

The computer invited: Oracle Linux 6.1

I want to install oracle on my guest computer database and access it from the host machine. I do not particularly like about sharing this database with all other machines in the network (other than the host and all guest computers created on this server).

What network card configuration would work better for me?

My host computer is a portable computer. I plan on using this laptop at home, as well as the work. At home I have access to the wired network and wireless (DHCP) while at work I have access only to wireless (DHCP) network.

I tried to adjust my VM as NAT & Host-Only network. My VM guest Gets the IP address but I cannot ping the virtual machine to the host using machine VM name. If I use the IP address of the virtual machine to ping, it works.

    Thank you

    Yogesh

    Welcome to the community,

with the requirements you mention, I would recommend a host-only configuration. Due to lack of DNS resolution, you can configure the host with a fixed IP address in the Host-Only range and add the Oracle VM to the hosts of your Windows system file.

Use a fixed IP address between 192.168.x.2 and... 127, above this addresses are used by DHCP.

  • Where to download PS CS6 for new installation new Mac?

I'll put up a new Mac and want to do a new install of Photoshop CS6. I already have the application under license installed and registered on another computer.

Where can I download CS6 on my new Mac? Should I disable CS6 on my older Mac? Thank you.

Products download CS6 Just have your serial number ready.

You are allowed to activate on two computers. So if you want to keep the old one as a backup, you're fine. Disable and uninstall if you want to donate or dispose of old Macs.

  • During the new installation of xp pro, the program never asked for the product key or what type of network installation.

XP pro ie8 32 bit svc pk 3.

during a new installation http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=44636, most of the steps was OK, however, my product key was not for and type of network was not.

As the third so clean installation I did, do you think the pc is to remember my preferences?

    Thanks for any help.

I think that when you install XP and turn on the first time, Microsoft collects information from your system during this process to develop a signature of material that goes with your license and store it away.  Of course, they do not collect any personal information :)

They do it so that if someone takes your XP installation license and tries to apply it to another computer (it is piracy) that the installation would not activate as your activation must match your hardware.

If someone tried to install and activate your license on another machine with a different set of hardware, MS would say, wait a minute - this license has already been activated on another machine, and he could complain.  Then someone has some ' splaing to do.

I suspect that in your facilities in 2nd and 3rd, MS takes a look at things and said... this material signature and the license already go hand in hand, that nothing has changed here, so it is not necessary to activate again, all right.

This is why, if one day you need to replace your motherboard and reinstall XP, even if you have everything and it's all legitimate, you will probably have to reactivate again since the signing of material would be completely different for this license that MS remembers the first activation.  A few small hardware changes, that you can get away with, but if the number of points collected to compensate for the signing during the initial activation is too different, you will need help activating.

In this case, if things are legitimate, you can call MS activation team, and if you can convince them that there is no hacking involved and you just have to change your motherboard, they work with you to get your reactive stuff.

Since you are looking at AUMHA, they have a writing little upward about it here, but there are official documents of Microsoft you can read also ('points' and how they work):

  • How do I apply the network drivers for CD when installing ESXi 5.0?

I am completely new to ESXi. I was not able to find the installation instructions, but they have to be there.

Anyway, I burned the isos of ESXi 5.0 rollup and driver on CD. ESXi enters the installation and then stops with the message on the NICs 'without cards network have been detected. No network adapters are physically connected to the system, or a driver not been located. A third-party driver may be required. I expected to have the ability to point to the cd with the drivers rollup cd, but the only option is to restart. How should I proceed?

drivers must be in the ESXi installation media.  You can use the generator image and PowerCLI as indicated below.  Same steps apply
