Q; AUTORUN. INF

where do I see Q; \autorun.inf?

What is the purpose and or the Q:\ autorun.inf feature?

When I open the recovery partition Q - I can see two folders one). Recyclebin b). resumption of the factory

the resumption of the factory, there are two files / text doc. etc, but maybe, I donot see the autorun.inf?

It allows to automatically start the program specified in it by double-clicking on the Q: drive in my computer (if the auto run function was not disabled on your computer).

In my case (T430) the Q:\autorun.inf contains the following:

==============

[AutoRun]
Open = LenovoQDrive.exe
Icon = Qdrive.ico

==============

You can manually start the program specified in autorun.inf.

  • Cannot read files on an external drive autorun.inf

    I have an external drive that holds several sets of files that I use for software development. These packages contain files autorun.inf. Recently, I find that I can not read or rename these files autorun.inf. I suspect that a recent update of Windows security disabled the option to read or to rename the files autorun.inf on removable devices. Is there a setting that restores my ability to use my file? I tried enabling the group policy of the system "Turn off AutoPlay", as described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715, but it did not help.

    1. what exactly happens when you try to open a USB unit?

    2. what anti-virus software do you use?

    I suggest you analyze your computer Microsoft Safety Scanner, it will help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malware

    Previously, I had a compatibility issue when installing Oracle Developer (forms, Designer, reports and JDeveloper10g), I corrected as saying that must be run on Windows XP SP2, and that did the trick. But I don't see anything about compatibility via the google search for this problem.

  • Autorun does not work for USB in Windows XP

    Hi all

    I need to open a text file or word document automatically when I insert a USB into the computer. To do this, I created an AutoRun.inf with the following entries.

    [AutoRun]
    Open = MyFile.txt

    I put the file MyFile.txt and autorun.inf in the root directory of the USB drive. But when I insert my USB in the computer, instead of automatically open the text file, a dialog box appears with options to do with the USB.

    In the options, the first option contains some junk in the first line and "using " characters in the secone line. I use Windows XP.

    Please let me what is the problem in the autorun.inf file and how to open the file automatically.

    Kind regards
    Elango

  • To disable the XP Autorun feature

    Hello

    I want to disable the Autorun XP feature such that when I insert a CD ROM with the file "autorun.inf" in this regard, the computer does nothing. Followed the instructions available on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715 and succeeded. (when I login as an administrator). When I login as a regular user, however, autorun is not disabled. Considered the key to register (as a normal user) for "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRun and the value is not correct. When logged in as an administrator, the value of this registry key is correct.

    Someone in this forum have some ideas? Or is it one for Microsoft technical support?

    Mark Ponsford

    HKCU is by user.  So if change you it to the administrator, it does not change it for any other user.  You must change for each user.  Or add the entry under HKLM

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer

    Create the DWORD NoDriveTypeAutoRun value and give it a hexadecimal value of FF.

    and that should apply to the whole machine.

  • Autorun not working is not for software and games.

    In my under AutoPlay control panel I "install or run program" defined for software and games. But whenever I put I have software or game cd in my drive autoplay does not give the option to run it. AutoPlay appears and displays 'Mixed content Options' and 'General Options', none of which are options to run or install the software. It's like windows ignores the files autorun.inf on the disks.

    I found the answer myself, I went into my registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\ and I delete Autorun.inf. I ran ComboFix a few months and apparently he added

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf]
    @= "" @SYS: Software\\Swearware\\dump ""

    I didn't notice until now because I have dual boot and I use mainly linux.

  • file autorun.exe lack

    Cannot install the software's message that autorun.exe is missing

    Hi Petercubelo,

    A. what application you are trying to install?

    B. is this error with a specific application?

    C. you are able to install the same application on a different computer?

    D. you get this error when you start the installation, or after a certain time?

    Let us try the following methods.

    Method 1

    The autorun.exe file could have been corrupted. I recommend an auditor of the system files on your computer, which will scan your computer for the corrupted system files and replace them accordingly.

    1. click on the Start menu, choose all programs, then on s accessory, then right-click on the item to the command prompt and select run as administrator.
    2. click on continue to allow to open a prompt with administrative privileges.
    3. run this command in the cmd prompt: sfc/scannow
    4. the cmd prompt should list text stating "start system analysis. This process will take time. »
    5. wait for the scan to complete (this may take several minutes, so be patient).  This command will scan all protected system files and attempt to replace the incorrect versions by appropriate Microsoft versions
    6. once the analysis is complete, the SFC tool will indicate whether or not it found no problems and whether or not he was able to correct
    7. If any errors are reported that SFC could not resolve, there are steps in this knowledge base article which explain how to locate and attempt to correct the errors.
    8. after fixing errors that are found, try to use Windows Vista Media Center again.

    Alternative method is to remove or rename the Autorun.inf file in the root folder of the affected drive.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 2

    If you try to install the application using a CD or DVD, and then try the following steps.

    1. click on Start > computer.

    2. right click on the DVD drive and click Open.

    3. This will list all the files on the CD/DVD.

    4. double-click on the exe file and start the installation.

    Hope this has been helpful.
