Qosmio G10: windows from the CD recovery

If I restore my Windows from a CD that was given with my Qosmio G10, I lose all my files?

Hello

Yes, you will lose all your files. If you perform a new installation, please use the expert mode and you'll be able to create two partitions. On the first, you need to install OS and the second that allows you to save all your data.

Please help me to download this windows.

    Hello

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

And Microsoft sells more Vista; If that's what you're looking for.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

    Hello

in Vista, if using a Microsoft Vista DVD(NOT a Manufacturers recovery Disk), the "boot" disk repair process, you ask about, it's only a "Startup Repair", not a repair of the operating system installation; population

You must have an operational Vista operating system to do a repair installation of the files using a Microsoft DVD of Vista system

BUT, if the use and start from a manufacturers recovery disk, which guest from the disk is likely to reinstall the OS and lose all your data

  • Qosmio G50 - repair windows from the HARD drive

    Hi all

My laptop - QOSMIO G50 - needs a bit of cleanup, and I thought to reinstall from scratch.

I know that I can use the "repair" function which is 'hidden' on the HARD drive that will get the pc to its original installation.

But I have a few questions.

    1. I've upgraded to Windows 7 quite earlier. But if the built-in repair feature reinstalls the pc for initial installation, I guess I'll be back on VISTA and will need to upgrade to WIN7 manually?

    2. most important: when I got the laptop, the seller had installed, so when I started, the installation begins. Then, I had the choice to install the 32-bit version or 64-bit.
I never expected to have 64-bit on the laptop so I chose 32-bit - and now I regret it enormously.
Now, if doing so clean reinstall from the HARD disk, it will give me a choice between 64-bit or 32-bit new or if it simply with the 32-bit version, I chose the first time? Or can I do something else for you ensure that I get the 64-bit installed this time?

    Thank you.

    Lio

    Hey,.

Important to know would be if you want to install Vista or Windows 7 now...

If you want to do a clean install of new, repair function is also deleted or let's say the entire contents of the HARD drive if you reinstall Windows recovery disk Toshiba.

Some laptops has been equipped with a function for 32-bit and 64-bit, and if you reinstall Vista from Toshiba recovery disc you will again have this option.

  • Qosmio G30 (PQG31E) - reinstall Windows from the original disc

I bought my Qosmio several years back, and I think not, it is still covered by any warranty.

Recently, my system files on the hard drive of Windows (C :) has been corrupted (or the hard drive has bad sectors; whatever), and chkdsc crashes when I'm trying to fix it.) I would like to reinstall Windows, however, when you start resuscitation DVD, the installation will stop with the following error message:
"Error: setenv file x:\setenv.ini or x:\tools\setenv.ini not found".

Indeed, the file doesn't seem to be present, when you look at the filesystem x:\ from the console. However, it is present when viewing the Windows DVD.

I found after help here: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0302U10000R01.htm, however, bios of Qosmio is not as bios of the Satellite. I can't find the settings provided.

How to fix this error in Qosmio?

Qosmio G30 is old laptop model, and may not be covered by the standard warranty. He's too old.

This Toshiba document, which describes certain problem more recent Satellite L500D Pro and Satellite L550D Pro, has nothing to do with your old laptop Qosmio.

I also believe that the HARD drive can be troublemaker to verify HARD drive using different tools and following the advice of s of Akuma.

  • How to install Windows from the recovery in mSATA SSD partition?

    Hi all

I intend to install mSATA SSD on my ThinkPad E420 soon. My laptop comes with the recovery partition in the hard drive. How to install Windows on the SSD drive?

I am familiar with the WIndows installation of optical media, but never to the recovery partition (which I assume where is the installer of Windows).

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

    Haris

    Hello

Sorry, I have no idea on how to install directly from a separate to another drive, but you may want to check this . You will need 1 CD (start) and a 4.7 GB DVD (data) because Lenovo recovery adds all this bloatware in factory settings.

That said, if you want a clean install, use the Windows disk (in case you do not have the same edition, you can download it legally from the net, google it) and your OEM key for activation.

  • Cannot start the Recovery Console Windows from the installation CD

On my MacBook I ve running in VMware Fusion 3.0.1 a Virtual Machine with Win XP Pro.

When I reboot Win XP Pro and start again from the Windows XP Pro installation CD, I can see the "Welcome" with the menu screen

-To install Win XP now, press ENTER

-To repair an installation of Windows XP using the Recovery Console, press r.

-To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

When I click ENTER or R, I see the message

-The installation program did not find any hard drives installed in your computer. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.

Today the question? In the 40 GB of the virtual machine, I have two free partitions of 10 GB and 20 GB Win XP Pro execution. Why see Setup cannot process this partition?

I ve also installed a second Virtual Machine, but the installation of VMware Fusion not show the "Welcome" screen, but it installs both Win XP Pro.

The installation of the recovery in the virtual race Machine Win XP Pro Console is successful, but when I start the recovery in Start Menu Console, just the screen blue 0x7B (inaccessible boot device).

What must I do, to start the Recovery Console in VMware Fusion? Or another question: when merging does support the Windows Recovery Console?

Wow, nothing indicates that you use a German version of Fusion that your English is excellent.  Anyway as VMware headquarters is in the United States, like me, I always provide information in English and information-specific guidelines in the VMware Fusion help files come from the English version as well as any Documentation from VMware that I reference.  I say this next part as a general and not directed comment towards you, as you have noted your using the German version... Any person requesting help must always at least include technical information referencing manufacture, make, model, version, and language other then English, material goods and software involved in issues.  We'll find a good reference for the type of information that must always be included in HOWTO: ask (and answer) Questions.

As a much get into the BIOS if you use the Fusion 3, you don't need to enter the BIOS to change the boot device as this can be done in the settings now however to enter the BIOS for other things that need/want of press you F2 directly after starting the Virtual Machine and after having clicked on the screen but the av VM boot so fast that it's easily missed.  You can add the following settings to the file of configuration .vmx of the Virtual Machine to slow down the startup so that force once in the BIOS.

    bios.bootDelay = "3000"
    bios.forceSetupOnce = "TRUE"

The bios.bootDelay is in milliseconds and the bios.forceSetupOnce Boolean value is then set to FALSE, automatically.  Each of these parameters are independent of each other.

The bottom of the virtual machine just above the status bar after the Virtual Machine is started, it has...

On the status bar, it features...

OK, click the big Play button on the screen of the virtual machine, and then quickly mouse click in the Virtual Machine screen and then press the ESC key to bring up the Start Menu and select the CD-ROM drive. There may be a .localized after Virtual Machines although by default, this extension is not visible in the Finder.

The files that make up the virtual machine are placed in a folder (aka Bundle and or packing) bearing the extension '.vmwarevm' which, by default, this extension is not visible in the Finder.

Example: "~/Documents/Virtual XP.vmwarevm Machines/Windows" in the Finder would just resemble an icon named "Windows XP."

To view the contents of the entire file "Windows XP.vmwarevm" ctrl-click (or right-click) on the "Windows XP" icon and select Show the contents of the package.

To change the configuration file of .vmx ctrl-click (or right-click) on the "Windows XP.vmx" file and select open with > choose another... then in Application choose TextEdit.

Note: If you use Firefox do not copy and paste the parameters if TextEdit unless you copy only the exact line and nothing else in the case, use an editor such as TextWrangler.

Notes: Creating an ISO Image of the CD/DVD drive

When you use utility disk in order to have a bootable ISO Image, you must select Master CD/DVD without encryption in which case by default, it will have an extension .cdr file and in version 1.1 of the merger and later does not need to be changed in .iso, although one can if one chooses to. A default .dmg image is compressed and is not bootable, as an uncompressed .dmg will start if changed in .iso and of course the source CD/DVD should be bootable in the first place.

To create an ISO Image using disk utility...

1 insert the CD or DVD disc into the optical drive of your computer.

    2. open disk utility (/ Applications/Utilities/Disk utility).

    3. Select the CD or DVD drive in the list of disks and volumes.

    4. Choose file > new > "Disk Image from (name of the disc)."

    5. type a name for the disk image.

    6. choose "DVD/CD master" from the Image Format pop-up menu.

7 choose "none" from the encryption pop-up menu.

    8. click on save.

  • Could use a little help from the system recovery

My son has a HP DV something 21XX Entertainment laptop computer running XP. He had some serious spyware that I couldn't get cleaned up and I "discovered" restoration of the system using the F10 key. I did it. He acted as a whole new computer I have registry and all. I had assumed that he had whipped the own HD. However when I tried to update XP it said I didn't have the room. And of course a 'C' drive it's full of things. So now I'm a bit lost and I was wondering if there is a guide step by step somewhere (yes I should have asked prior to taking title).

    1. I see as well a C drive and a system recovery disk. Who now works or how can I say.

    2. I'd like to if I don't lose any of his stuff. Actually I'm passing some of them to my external drive for 'safe keeping' if all goes well

    3. I have not been able to get on the net wireless, but have been wired. That is probably an update is necessary? It shows my network and that I am connected, but it won't actually show anything "page not found".

    4. I download some spyware now so I can check my system restore it cleared out.

For any help or suggestion or pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

BTW, my son computer is a few years old and was one of the models who had the bad mother and HP the extended warranty on. They did replace the MB warranty (about 16 months after purchase). It's quality service and I have so I have several brands of laptops, I'm not yet ready to upgrade sound, if I do not.

    Thanks again!

    Hello

Here is a link to the system recovery with much information.

Your operating system runs from your C: partition. D: is the recovery partition.

As far your Wi - Fi connection... going to try Google chrome or another browser to see if you can connect. There is a little bug in IE (I guess that's what you use) which may prevent it from connect to web pages.

You have probably a Trojan or malware on the system. Try to go to www.ESET.com . Look on the right side under quick links and use their scanner online. It will find all things 'wrong' that is on your system and delete, if you may of course. As far as I know, they are the best in the business. Everyone has a favorite and this one is mine. I have install on the PC of the client frequently and for three years have never had a client complain about viruses, Trojans, adware or malware.

Do not update your pc had SP2 before having to operate satisfactorily and have done a Windows system restore point.

post your results (positive or negative) here in your thread so we know how it works for you.

    Kind regards

  • Pavilion new hard drive XP Media Center Edition 2005, won't boot from the system recovery disks

Hi, I'm trying to replace the hard drive in Pavilion a1620n a member of the family with XP Media Center Edition 2005 where the original Samsung SP2504C HDD failed.  I HAVE the original recovery discs 1 and 2 system and additional recovery disk supplied with the PC but the problem seems to be that I can't get the PC to boot from them to start the recovery process.  I installed a new Western Digital 500 GB HARD drive.  The BIOS recognizes it is installed (as well as the existing DVD - RW drive) and drive past the on-board CHIP support tests.  I tried using the Boot Menu ESC to select the DVD - RW Drive as the first Boot device, as well as the tab Boot Setup of BIOS F1 to set the 1st boot CD-ROM device group and other people with disabilities.  After reboot, the drive of DVD - RW turns on for about 2 seconds, then turns off and the display shows "DISK BOOT FAILURE", INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND press ENTER.  I thought maybe I needed a kind of bootable CD boot disk to format the drive first, so I tried a BACK 6.22 bootable CD and a bootable CD of MEMTEST, that work on the other PC, but I get the same message "DISK BOOT... "on this one.  My next idea would be to try to host the new drive on another PC and copy the files on it recovery disk... but is it really necessary?  If the own PC system recovery CD should not be able to... Recover?

It seems to me that the ligthscribe drive has a problem.  Replace the disk and it may be OK after that.  On a PC so old, it is probably an IDE drive, but check first.

You will need to contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer for more information about the installation failure.

When restarting in safe mode, it is a message telling me that the system is not fully installed. Please, rerun the Setup program.

You could any body help me in this problem because it's a strange problem?

Note: I tried to install Windows XP from external CD but the system did not have the hard drive.

You are right. It's a really strange problem. I don't know if you use some external devices but before you start recovery procedure please remove all connected devices.
The fact is that this recovery image is designed for this model of laptop and the specific hardware configuration. If the BSOD occurs after the installation of the image it takes little hardware related issue.

I don't really have any other explanation. Problem is that no one here will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis, and we can only speculate what may be the problem.

Try to do it again to the recovery facility, but if the problem persists I fear that you need professional help.
