  There are a few options depending on your OS and your version of TouchPad.

  • The best option, if it should be available for you is:

  NOTE if this alternative is available, it is very well, unless something goes wrong.  You could get stuck without your USB mouse AND no way to return to the setting to activate the touchpad.  I don't know if I would use this setting.

  ·         Go to mouse properties windows and click on device settings

  ·         Highlight the Synaptic Touchpad and click settings

  ·         Uncheck the box 'double-tap to activate or disable the Touchpad'

  Go to synaptics.com, download pointer driver for your operating system and install.

  You have the choice to disable the pointer of the ps2 that is touchpad.

  Many laptops have a key that will enable/disable the touchpad - mine is on the top row of keys where the function keys.

  You could also open mouse in Control Panel and look for an option here.
