  My Qosmio G15-Av501 has stopped working after only 14 months of service. I was informed by repairers Toshibas that the graphics card has failed and it will require a payment of 512 gbp to fix. Since I have 3 other notebooks of 16 inches that have been in service without problem in my studio of photography for 5 years - I'm obviously not very happy about that - probably a graphics card cannot cost as much in this day and age?

  I searched the world looking for drivers VISTA especially drivers NVIDIA for my G15 AV501 - Toshiba said the G10 is the heelp same, but is no longer, I am running vista and it seems to be a bit slow with a couple of small glitches, using GEFORCE 6600 - but it is not perfect.

  I think that your laptop uses Nvidia FX5700 128 MB graphics card. If so, please follow the link below to install the driver:

  Before you post, uninstall everything related to Nvidia for your computer

  To install the nvidia 96,85 card, you must do it manually:
  Open the Device Manager
  Locate the video adapter/nvidia Gforce Fx5700
  Update the drivers options
  Search for driver software on computer
  Choose a list of drivers for devices to the computer
  With disc...
  Look for the location you extracted the nvidia 96.85.rar

  I don t think you will be able to use the RAID if the laptop doesn't supports RAID and has no RAID controller.
  Usually for RAID using the RAID controller driver must be installed. This must be done at the beginning of the installation of the OS. Without this driver HARD drive can't be recognized and you will not be able to install the operating system.

  However, as I know the RAID option doesn t accelerates the overall performance.
  The RAID is useful if the first disk goes dead and restore you the data.
  RAID mirroring option saves the data on two hard disks.

  I m not 100% sure if the laptop supports the RAID or not but most often the boot from the restore CD should work without any problems. As suggested by Reavers, there could be a conflict with the partitions on the HARD disk.
  You should try to format the whole HARD drive and then try to boot from the Toshiba restore CD.

  I backup my iMac using Time Machine for a time capsule.  Since a few days I received the error:

  You must use Airport utility to repair or reformat a drive Time Capsule. Use the menu help in the utility Airport to search for 'clear' get instructions if you do not know how.

  Download the audio driver. Then uninstall the old audio driver in Device Manager.
  Restart the unit. After that go to Device Manager, mark the sound card (should be the unknown device) and then use the Advanced installation procedure to point to the files of the audio driver (ini files).

  European Qosmio G10 is known to me and I guess it must be the same as your Qosmio G15.
  It has two slot under the memory of the memory cover.
  Check the underside of your laptop and remove the small cover in the middle and check how many locations is inside.

  Update 8GB will not work. You old enough laptop and none of the old laptops can be upgraded with 8 GB of RAM. G10 can scale up to 2 GB and compatible module is PA3313U-1M1G.

  Like many others I have problem with my go5700 video card on my Toshiba Qosmio G15, too. Unfortunately I can not replace the motherboard in my free country (Bulgaria) and the dealer asked me 500 euros to raplace it. So, I decided to replace the video chip by myself. I know Toshiba replace the chip video go5700 with go6600 but I checked this go6600 chip has the small difference in the order of its PIN on it.

  Do you think I'll have any problem with that? As I know Toshiba replace just the VGA but maybe I'm wrong.
  So advice pleace me, can I replace my defective go5700 with go6600 or best just to buy an another go5700 and wait the next default!
