Qosmio G20: How to repair Windows without formatting?

Hello
I have a qosmio G20 bought in October 2005. I need to repair my OS. The CD/DVD provided with the Windows XP MCE do not provide an option 'fix' as one provided when you buy a copy of Windows. How can I repair my OS without format my laptop?

Thanks in advance for your kind cooperation

Antonis

The supplied restore CD does not contain the repair console because it s not an original Windows CD. The restore CD contains only an image of the files. Don't mix it with the CD of Microsoft!

To get into the repair console, you will need the original CD of Microsoft Windows.
I also read on the Microsoft site that it of possible to download the repair on 6 discs FDD console. Then you could boot from this drive FDD and you might be able to get into the repair console. But I have never tested this procedure.

I found this useful MS document also how to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

• Qosmio G20 - how to reinstall Windows XP without the recovery DVDs?

I am trying to install windows XP on the laptop. I bought the Qosmio without the reinstallation cd. It has no operating system installed on the hard drive at all. Everything is OK, until he asks for raid drivers, then he said: put the disc in the drive "a". There is no player on the G20.
I need to buy a USB floppy to do this, or someone has solutions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello

As you know already some units Qosmio supports RAID function.
If you want to install the OS from Windows, you must first install the RAID driver.
The RAID driver you will find on the page of the Toshiba driver.

You have three options:

1. you will first install the driver disk RAID, and then you could install the operating system from the original CD of Microsoft Windows.

2. you create a Windows clean boot CD with application called nLite (as mentioned above)
This application allows you to create the CD of the Windows operating system with additional drivers as RAID

3. buy the original recovery CD Toshiba with the Toshiba service partner in your country

Hello

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G20. :) It has windows xp professional installed.

I donnot have a remote control. I'm from South Africa.

-Do I need a remote to tune to a frequency of psecific?
-If no, how I tune to a specific frequency without remote?
-How to access the user interface of the Qosmio player?

Hello

How do you watch TV?
Which player Qosmio do you have?
AFAIK the Qosmio Player versions 4.3 and older do not support the DVB - T signal.

Also I m not very good if you want to be able to receive TV channels in South Africa if this Qosmio G20 was released in European countries.
The point is that the internal tuner would not receive the signals due to the different PAL/NTSC settings.

Regarding scanning of channels:
Please check this thread:
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=25430

In order to run the scan, you need to start the Qosmio player, press the F1 key and enter the Setup program.
Here, you can do a scan. You n t need the remote!

The other fact is that the Qosmio Player is not Windows-based applications and you cannot start if Windows. If Windows is running while you use MCE (Media Center) instead of Qosmio player.

• Qosmio G20: How to format the HARD drive?

Hello!

I bought Qosmio G20 last week and now I want to install Windows XP MCE (not recovery, but a CD in Windows XP CD) on this subject but I have a problem formatting of hard drives. There are two hard disks, and when I try to put in the form of Win 98 it is said as "formatting is not supported on C:" or "formatting is not supported on D:". I want to do before installing new windows because I want to create multiple partitions, but to do that I need to format the disc first.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to format discs in this way?

Hello

You cannot format the HARD C drive because the operating system is running on this HARD drive.
What you can do is to use the 3rd party software that creates the partitions on the HARD disk on the system running. I use partition Magic 8 to create and manage partitions.

• How to re - install windows without formatting of other partitions?

Hello world

I had some problems with my windows on my laptop so I decided to re - install the windows. I have the DVD of my system recovery. So I used it to recover my system. Now the problem is, I had divided my hard drive to 5 partitions. 'C' was where windows is installed, "D" is repeated, 'E' is HP-Tools 'G' was my files and 'H' was my other stuff such as games. After that I recovered my system my data all had disappeared, my scores have disappeared. My other two spaces (G & H) disappeared and evrything I had in these 2 areas has been removed.

My Question is: How can I just re - install the windows without erasing my other partitions? I mean how can I re - install the windows which is found only on drive "C"? I didn't format my hard drive that I wanted to just format drvie 'C' and re - install the windows there.

Please help me in this regard.

Hi again Esfandiari,

As you see below, the HP document:

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02638587

during the process of recovery you must use minimized Image recovery, as he said "If ago customer-created partitions on the hard drive, the HP Recovery Manager invite you for permission to remove them or leave them intact."

All the best!

• Qosmio G20: How do you get TV to work?

Hi, I recently bought a laptop Toshiba Qosmio G20.

I want to watch a Divx on my TV using the laptop as the player. But, I can't get anything to display on my TV, my TV remains empty.

I tried pressing on now the keys Fn and F5 and this doen't seem to do anything. I opened the Nvidia graphics window and expand on my secondary display and I also tried to have a vision of "clone" of the laptop computer on my TV screen by clicking on the Advanced button. Nothing seems to work.

Could someone help me please? I think that I am using a DVI cable (this is the cable where you can hang on the back of the laptop). In addition, if no one can give me more information so can someone give me the phone number of the technical support for Britain?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Dr. Corinne

Hello

Qosmio G20 supports the S-video port or video-D. You can connect to the TV with these ports.
To view the video on the TV, be sure to set up the other parameters that you can see that nothing is displayed.
Don't forget to use the FN + F5 shortcut to select the display device before you start playing the video. Don t change the display device all in video game.
If the TV is connected to the computer, set the TV type in display properties.
Click the setting tab, and then click the Advanced button. Click the Geforce tab, click current view and select TV. Click device settings and select TV format that your TV supports.
When the TV is connected using D-video cable and the 1123i or 750 p is selected then kept copy of DVD video cannot be played correctly.

Please see the user manual. You will find details

Please see Toshiba site for new display drivers.
By hand, you should always use the Toshiba drivers because they are designed for this unit. nVidia drivers are created for desktop PC and not for laptops.

Windows XP Mediacenter - Qosmio G20.

You can reinstall this app if you have separately on a single CD.
On the restore CD, you will find image files that contain the operating system, drivers, tools and utilities and this application.
The WinDVD was preinstalled on the image, and I know he has not released on the CD single.

You are going to buy this program WinDVD or you must use the recovery CD.

By the way: have you tried to use the System Restore tool?
Still, this tool allows you to set the operating system to the beginning.
Maybe then the WinDVD will work

• Qosmio G20: How to disable/bypass SCMS-T for adiosyn with a bluetooth headset?

Hello all,.

I recently bought a set of bluetooth stereo headphones (Creative CB2350) and found that, because of the inclusion of SCMS-T copyright protection I can't audiosync directly to my computer laptop bluetooth stack (Qosmio G20). The headphones come with an audio jack adapter (bluetooth transmitter), but it runs on a single AAA battery and cannot last more than an hour; So I need to connect without it.

Is there a way to disable or circumvent the requirement for protection by copyright SCMS-T in the last toshiba bluetooth stack? and if not why not? I paid a lot of money for my Qosmio and my helmet and I'm leaving furious inclusion deliberate software/firmware designed to keep me from using my material for legitimate purposes (i.e. what they were designed to do).

Please help me,
Lee ([email protected])

PS: Frankly I didn't really a problem with DRM technology before that, but now I can see how irritating and pointless DRM is. Compare the number of people using bluetooth devices for piracy (negligible) number of bluetooth headset that does not support the MAN - T (a lot if all my google searches are anything to go by) and see you how stupid the idea of DRM via bluetooth is really.
In my opinion not so humble large commercial companies like toshiba should woven converluted pap as SCMS-T as a matter of appeal; the final user does not want to spend several years download licenses and scouring the web only to find out access to his material is totally useless. (Sorry for the rant, but that's how I feel).

You're right, I completely agree with you.
The problem here probably that Toshiba is a little anxious summer continued in the music industry, if users use technology to copy copy-protected music.
I think that it should be possible to transfer the responsibility of the end user by some sort of agreement, that the user must confirm once by a mouse click during installation.

I already had a discussion with Toshiba customer service on this issue. They informed me that they reconsider this issue and try to find a solution for this. The odds are so good
that a future version of the BT-stack will be the ability to disable the GUY.

• Qosmio G20: How to install Win XP? -> No disc HARD is visible

Hello

I just purchased a Qosmio G20 and it come with Window Vista Ultimate Edition, but I don't want Vista. I tried to install Windows XP Home edition, but because it is a lower version, I need to reformat my hard drive.

There is my problem: first I boot CD of Windows XP Home edition to install, after that I select to reformat the laptop but it says I have no hard drive and reboot. I don't know what to do, and I don't understand nothing with RAID technology.

Help, please.

Hello

That's easy, you need the RAID driver which can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.
Then you use the external USB FDD drive and the floppy with this RAID driver for installation.
During the installation of Windows XP Setup will ask you for most drivers.

Then you press F6 to install the RAID driver. Notes; After installing the driver RAID don't format the HARD drive again!
