Qosmio G20: Is there a hidden partition on HDD1 for QosmioPlayer?

Hello

I have a Qosmio G20 and I noticed that the BIOS indicates HDD1 95 GB HDD2 is 100 GB (as it should). Is there anyone else who have experienced this problem or is my HDD1 damaged or is there a hidden partition?

If there is a hidden partition - how to remove? (I really don't see the point with QosmioPlayer).

/ Henrik

Hello

AFAIK the Qosmio Player is pre-installed on the hidden partition.
It is perhaps a reason for different size of HARD drive.

The disk format HARD completely should remove the hidden partition and Qosmio player. But this procedure is not recommended.

  • Shortcut keys in Qosmio G20 no longer work

    Hello!

I have a problem with the access keys (the one at the top of the keyboard - not the FN keys) in my Qosmio G20, it does not work.

    Sorry for my English ;)

    Can someone help me?

    Hello

Yes I can help you. Back up all your data and preinstall your Qosmio with recovery DVDs. The Qosmio laptop is very complex and there are many tools that should be preinstall. With the keys FN is not big problem, but the other...

By the way; How did you manage to lose the functionality of buttons? I have too many Qosmio but I don't really know what I should do now to the same situation. ;)

    Your English is very good!

  • Question about backup of the partition on the Qosmio G20

Hi everyone, I was wondering is it possible to get the backup of your hard drive or the partition on qosmio g20? I tried the real picture, and ghost, but they could not get access to the qosmio scsi disks, when I ve checked toshibas recovery dvd I saw it is changed the version of norton ghost, so they must be necessary loading drivers on the start time of recovery disc, because I install a lot of software and change the config. I want to save my disk hard once everything is done.
    can anyone help?

    Hello

Some time ago, I did some ghosting of Toshiba laptops, I have never had any problems. Perhaps there may be conflicts, if you are using RAID technology, or the Qosmio player on the first HARD disk area hurts.

Sorry I can't give you more help.
    Good luck!

  • Qosmio G20: Merge partitions

Hello, I have a Qosmio G20 with two hard drives of 60 GB. The first hard disk has two partitions equal, C: and E:. I would like to delete E: and only have C:.
I tried with Partition Magic and E: the deletion is no problem, but I can't extend C:

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Hello Rune

It's very strange because Partition magic is very powerful. Sorry, but if you have a problem with partition magic check their support or maybe the FAQ page.

  • System drive Qosmio G20 with an image or a clone backup

On another thread, I asked problems with Acronis True Image to backup and cloning of my system (C) disk. Whenever I'm trying to clone my system disk or recover an image, I can create and restore the image, but when I install the player recreated and tries to start, I get as much "windows did not start successfully, I would like to start in safe mode... last good config known... or normal. All the options to return to the screen.

I have two drives 100 GB sata, with the first disc of the op system, programs and the second with my data and therefore has set up the raid as two independent disks and the raid console option disabled.

After trying another product of cloning with the same result, I guess there is something in the Qosmio implemented that is the cause. I read that Qosmio Player is installed on a hidden partition of Linux on the system drive and am wondering if it may not be picked up by the cloning and imaging software and that may cause boot failure.

So I have two questions. First of all, nobody knows why I might be problems starting from a clone or recovery using third party disk image backup software and second, anyone successfully upward and restore a G20 Qosmio Player system, and if so with what software and do you perform all the special functions.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

Well, I use the Toshiba Recovery CD to restore the operating system on the Qosmio G20.
It has also 2 x 100 GB, but under my computer, I saw only one a HARD drive. I created 2 partitions with the ghost (second option on the recovery CD).
However, I have now 2 partitions but after this procedure, the Qosmio player has been removed. I though that I need to install again simply because of the Qosmio player but I tried to install the Qosmio player after the recovery procedure and it has been successfully.

2 existing partitions and I also have a Qosmio player on my laptop.
But one thing is very strange; I can't locate the partition in disk management.
    But everything works ok

  • Qosmio G20: How to format the HARD drive?

    Hello!

I bought Qosmio G20 last week and now I want to install Windows XP MCE (not recovery, but a CD in Windows XP CD) on this subject but I have a problem formatting of hard drives. There are two hard disks, and when I try to put in the form of Win 98 it is said as "formatting is not supported on C:" or "formatting is not supported on D:". I want to do before installing new windows because I want to create multiple partitions, but to do that I need to format the disc first.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to format discs in this way?

    Hello

You cannot format the HARD C drive because the operating system is running on this HARD drive.
What you can do is to use the 3rd party software that creates the partitions on the HARD disk on the system running. I use partition Magic 8 to create and manage partitions.

  • Qosmio G20: How to make a dual-boot?

I have three partitions on my Qosmio G20.
I run WinXP on one and use a larger data.
The third partition is able to run Vista in (whenever that will happen).
I did it on other PCs with a RAID-0 configuration, but which required a floppy with the RAID driver during installation.
There is no floppy on the Qosmio, so how can I work around this obstacle?

    concerning
    Olav

    Hello

Usually the Windows operating system offers a clean startup application.
You should get a boot order (manager) automatically if you have installed two different systems on the device.
But nevertheless you can use also 3rd party applications

  • Qosmio G20: Additional programs are placed on the recovery CD?

    Hello

I am relatively new to all this if my question is perhaps a bit noobish. But I would like to reinstall windows xp mce on my Qosmio G20. And I know that's what I use the product recovery disc for. But a few things written about it has started to get worried, so if you could answer the following questions I would be very grateful.

    (1) on the product recovery disc it is said that the additional software (ex: DVD player...) cannot be recovered from the dvd. But all these were preinstalled on my computer and I don't have a cd/dvd extra. So the question is: is this a denial of responsibility (unfairly put) and this Qosmio G20 recovery disc has all programs pre-installed so?

    (2) when I start the recovery process he formats just my drive C: or D: drive as well. I have not changed anything since I was the computer. So drive C: is where programs are, D: drive is just for some multimedia stuff.

Thank you very much. : D

    Hello

AFAIK Qosmio G20 comes with two recovery media:
    1 QOSMIO recovery media player
This CD contains QOSMIO player only and use it before you install the operating system.
    2 OS Recovery DVD
This DVD contains the operating system and all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities.
When you use the laptop will have to new factory settings. As after the first start.

When you use recovery DVD to install OS again, there is an option to install the operating system already persistent partition. I put t know if the recovery on your Qosmio DVDs old ghost image or new software Reco.

Please try to boot from recovery media and let me know how it starts. I can help you to install the OS on the right track.

  • Qosmio G20 102: problem RAID the installation of windows xp media center

First of all I did not the raid driver for my qosmio. I tried the RAID of Qosmio G20, another pilot but when it reached the stage when I ask windows to format the C driver it shows me an error. It is said that there is an error in the KR10N file and it stops there.
Please help me and thank you.

    Hello

It seems that the Qosmio G20 102 belongs to the series of PQG20E.
Research on the European driver Toshiba page I found the RAID for Windows XP MCE driver v1.03.0008 (can also be used with XP Pro).

You will need an external USB FDD to include this driver in the operating system.
But note; After installing the RAID driver you shouldn't t format the HARD disk or create a new partition, because that will remove the RAID driver from the HARD disk and installing the OS fails!

I hope I could help you would also appreciate a feedback ;)
    Best regards

  • Qosmio G20: Possible boot from a USB device?

    Dear all,

I am writing for you good people was whether it is possible to start a Qosmio G20 via a connected USB device, an external hard drive.

I wonder if it is taken in charge (or tolerable) within the limits of the current Qosmio G20 BIOS and/or if any could attempt on my part to make taken in charge (i.e. are there buttons I can push levers, I can pull or numbers I can play to get there).

The reason why I have is that my laptop has a multitude of technical difficulties that point to the hardware failure, among them a vertical line on my screen and a problem with my optical drive, making it impossible for me to write a CD or DVD.

In the unlikely event that the good folks at Toshiba support are forced to replace the hard drive (or the system) it would be nice to have a way to restore the system to its current configuration (in this sense, I'm looking for a way to create my own bootable recovery disc produced) however the lack of functionality in the Department of optical drive ties my hands a little (I can't create a recovery of) product custom CD/DVD but I might create a product on my external HARD drive recovery partition).

Thus, it would be useful to be able to boot from a USB, not essential of course as any disk image could be comfortably written to disk through my soon-to-be renovated system (of course it would be quicker to start just by the USB bus and avoid all this nonsense).

    Sincere greetings,
    Lee Hyde.

    Hello

I am sorry to say that you will not be able to boot from the external USB HDD. The BIOS does not support this feature.
According to different threads here in the support of forum Toshiba Qosmio G20 BIOS supports these devices to start:
Floppy USB drive, 1st/2nd HDD, ODD, network (LAN)

As you can see it s possible to floppy USB FDD but not the USB external HDD

  • Qosmio G20 blocked on JBOD in BIOS

    Hello

I have a problem with the Toshiba Qosmio G20-109.
The system does not start, the two hard drives JBOD (unable to start Windows).
    HDD1 - 120 GB
    HDD2 - 250 GB

So I wanted to put the first disc HARD 1 1RAID-0 using the method described in the Manual: I entered the code 1 2 3 4 and I pressed Enter.

The problem is that once entered the BIOS code remained frozen and blocked.

I tried everything, I'm not despairing managing to install an operating system.

I hope there is a solution.

    Hello

If JBOD has been set in the BIOS, Windows OS could not be installed on this HARD drive except using the Toshiba product recovery disc. But I guess you want to install the system using another drive in Windows.

To be honest, I not very well why the BIOS freezes and does not accept Mr. code it s certainly the right one: ENTRY 1,2,3,4

But the issue is probably related to the HARD drive. How to switch hard drives in the Bay?
Try to use the 120 GB HDD2 and the 250GB as HDD1.

    I also recommend you use the 1RAID-0 = HDD1 and HDD2 = JBOD
Would be interesting how it works.

But unfortunately my CD/DVD-Rom does not work/play,.

Then I try to install it via a PEN drive bootable with integrated... XP but when I go into the BIOS I n I find USB Boot option... :-(

Then I remove my main hard drive and put it in another laptop and install the XP, its work in this laptop, but unfortunately when I put the new HARD drive the Qosmio his departure gives the XP logo but in 5-10 sec its judgment and give a blue screen message then then restart automatically...

plezz help me install XP or Vista or 7 those who works there...

plezzz plezzz sound my laptop preferred

    Thanks in advance

    JAI

    > Then I try to install via a PEN drive bootable with integrated... XP but when I go into the BIOS I n I find USB Boot option... :-(

Connect the USB flash memory key to the laptop, now switch on and press F12.
The start menu should appear where you could see all the possible boot devices.

Do you see the USB boot option in the start menu?
If this isn't the case, then you will not be able to boot from USB flash memory.

    > Then I remove my main hard drive and put it in another laptop and install the XP, its work in this laptop, but unfortunately when I put the new HARD drive the Qosmio his departure gives the XP logo but in 5-10 sec its judgment and give a blue screen message then then restart automatically...

I guess that this is because the RAID drivers was not included!
Qosmio G20 supports the RAID controller and you add the RAID driver (located on the Toshiba UE driver page) in order to recognize the HARD drive.
But I put t know if you could do so using another computer I guess that's not possible.

Maybe you can try to disable RAID in BIOS

  • Qosmio G20 screen of text or symbols on startup

Qosmio G20 139, at the start of the Qosmio laptop appears and then it immediately goes into a screen of text or symbols. Is continuous to load see the Windows XP screen then displays vertical blue dotted, then goes to an error page showing the nonpaged page error error 0 x 00000050. Then restarts and goes around and does the same thing.

I used the recovery disk and it worked fine for a few days the have reappeared.
I checked the ram and hard drive and there seems to be some errors.

Now reinstall drive does not load correctly.
If a page comes up saying installation is not complete.

    > I checked the ram and hard drive and there seems to be some errors.

    How did you check that?
Have you used a new test strips of memory and the new HARD drive?

To be honest, I don t think that your HARD drive is affected. The vertical dotted lines, could be more related question of graphics card in terms of the HARD drive.
RAM question could also be possible, but I think that its GPU.

By the way: you are able to access the BIOS?
Turn on the computer and press F2. Then leave the laptop in BIOS for a few hours to check if some problems arise.
Would be interesting to know how the unit would be

  • Qosmio G20 - Blue LED for the volume does not work on Windows 7

    Hello

I have a minor problem. Yesterday, I update my Qosmio G20 on 2 GB of RAM and I have install Windows 7. Everything works fine even better than XP, but I notice that my blue led lights for volume no longer works.

Is there a driver I need to install or any solution that these blue lights for the volume can function again?

    Hi Gabriel,

I m not Qosmio G20 owner but I m asking you to install Windows 7. I think XP would be the best choice for this portable little plu

Normally the lighting on Toshiba laptop to install the package of added value. It s is only not for this model, so I put t know if it will work. You should try to download from another model of laptop that is Windows 7 supported.

In addition also check the BIOS if lighting is enabled.
