Qosmio G20 with Intervideo WinDVR3

Hello

I have a laptop Qosmio G20/395LS (purchased at the Japan) that since I converted to English Windows XP Pro SP2. I then downloaded all the drivers from Toshiba on the site of Toshiba UK, choosing the Qosmio PQG20, which is the closest model from my Japanese version. (The Toshiba to the Japan site is not all drivers available for download, that's why I used the site of Toshiba UK.)

In any case, all functions work perfectly, except that I canoe use Intervideo WinDVR3 to watch television. It recognizes the Composite inputs and S-video but not the antenna TV input option. I have a normal TV antenna cable connected to the Qosmio and can watch TV with other software such as Qosmio Player, Windows Media Center and same Intervideo Home Theater. But not with WinDVR3 (Im using the latest version downloaded from the Web site of Interviodeo.) I don't like Windows Media Center or Intervideo Home Theater and Qosmio Player not use that by cutting off the power supply, so I defintely want to use Intervideo WinDVR.

I contacted Intervideo, and they said that my hardware is certainly consistent, but I must have the correct WDM driver installed for the TV Tuner to operate correctly the WinDVR. Im not sure what is a WDM driver, but looks like I need to download the correct driver for the TV Tuner on this Qosmio.

I checked Toshiba Japan website, but I saw no TV Tuner driver to download it. Ive tried a few of the drivers TV Tuner for the different models on the Web sites of UK and US Toshiba, but WinDVR still does not recognize the option antenna TV.

Can someone point me to the right driver WDM driver that I need to get this software WinDVR3 will?

Thank you.

Hello

Toshiba doesn't recommend that you install the graphics drivers 3rd or any additional graphics accelerator. This may damage the video card or the motherboard.
On the Toshiba driver page, you will find all the WDM drivers. Only the Tv tuner and graphics drivers.

I don't know if the WinDVR is supported by Mr. antenna interface I've never checked.
However, I found this site. If you wish, you can consult this site on WDM driver:

  • New driver for Qosmio G20 with Vista installed

    Hello

There are new drivers for Qosmio G20 with Vista installed.

Right now, it's Nvidia Video 169,25 version of the driver for Windows Vista.
No blue screen after installing this driver, at all.
I think that this new driver will solve the following problem:

    * Power failure screen after you have closed the lid on Vista *.

You can try it, remembering that the installation must be handwritten. And you must choose the graphics card Nvidia Geforce 6600, during installation.

  • System drive Qosmio G20 with an image or a clone backup

On another thread, I asked problems with Acronis True Image to backup and cloning of my system (C) disk. Whenever I'm trying to clone my system disk or recover an image, I can create and restore the image, but when I install the player recreated and tries to start, I get as much "windows did not start successfully, I would like to start in safe mode... last good config known... or normal. All the options to return to the screen.

I have two drives 100 GB sata, with the first disc of the op system, programs and the second with my data and therefore has set up the raid as two independent disks and the raid console option disabled.

After trying another product of cloning with the same result, I guess there is something in the Qosmio implemented that is the cause. I read that Qosmio Player is installed on a hidden partition of Linux on the system drive and am wondering if it may not be picked up by the cloning and imaging software and that may cause boot failure.

So I have two questions. First of all, nobody knows why I might be problems starting from a clone or recovery using third party disk image backup software and second, anyone successfully upward and restore a G20 Qosmio Player system, and if so with what software and do you perform all the special functions.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

Well, I use the Toshiba Recovery CD to restore the operating system on the Qosmio G20.
It has also 2 x 100 GB, but under my computer, I saw only one a HARD drive. I created 2 partitions with the ghost (second option on the recovery CD).
However, I have now 2 partitions but after this procedure, the Qosmio player has been removed. I though that I need to install again simply because of the Qosmio player but I tried to install the Qosmio player after the recovery procedure and it has been successfully.

2 existing partitions and I also have a Qosmio player on my laptop.
But one thing is very strange; I can't locate the partition in disk management.
    But everything works ok

  • Qosmio G20 with authentic vista - topical issues...

    Hi all...

I installed a genuine version of Vista Home Premium on my G20 and have several problems that I'm trying to fix. Check of Vista Compatablitity' highlighted only the bluetooth stack and the video drivers as a problem then I moved and made installation... I managed to find the Toshiba vista compatible Bluetooth Stack on Asia oshiba website (so it's all sorted out now. The main problem I have now is I can't watch video clips or listening to audio clips! When audio or video is played, he only plays in slow motion! Nayone have ideas? have you tried in Media center, windows media player, nero showtime, divx player and VLC player... pklays video and audio slow in any of the foregoing.

    Any help appreciated.

PS in addition, the frustration of not having the qosmio player drivers is also obvious!

I installed Vista on Qosmio G30 and it works well (sound, image). I put t know why you have this problem, but maybe you should wait for the official launch of Vista. After Toshiba official lunch will offer probably all the necessary drivers for all mobile phones capable of Vista.

It is not necessary to be frustrated.

  • Qosmio G20 with TV (s-video cable) - the screen is black and with

Hallo and another question by me... when I connect with the TV using the s-video cable still the TV screen is black and white, I checked this on two different TV, is always the same, and even when I am felt for the settings of the card and when I'm changing color options nothing happen Thanks for your help

    Hi again

As far as I know if you connect your device to the TV, check the settings for S-video on the TV.

    By the way:
All new TVs from 70 cm to the top screen diagonal must effectively control S-Video connection on SCART. However, this should be enabled in some cases. If the image does not appear in the color anyway, your TV doesn't support certainly S-video. In this case there are adapters that allows S-Video Composite video (RCA cable). You can find it in all the electronic stores.

    Good bye

  • TV with a Qosmio G20 - Scart option out problem disappeared

I have a problem with my video card and its driver.
    I have a Qosmio G20 with a Nvidia GeForce Go 6600.
Yesterday, when I start my laptop I saw that some settings have disappeared.

I tried to connect the pc to the TV in the manner described here: http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB4A00TK000MR01.htm
but the SCART option in the menu format of TV was vanished and he was in the bios setting too.

I tried to reinstall the display driver, but I have not solved my problem.
Now I can not connect the pc with tv and it is a very big problem for me.

Please help me if you can.
Thank you. (and sorry for my very bad English)

    Hello

Maybe the cable SCART is malfunctioning or is wrong?
Some cables have a misallocation of the PINS and, therefore, the connection of the TV not functions
In my opinion, the cable must be checked

The other reason for the missing scart PAL option in the BIOS could be a wrong setting of DMI. But this can be checked by an ASP.
Then try to communicate with the guys of technician and talk to them about the problem of lack of option SCART PAL in the BIOS.

    Good bye

  • JBOD Qosmio G20 - could not initialize the disk of 320 GB - 1RAID-0

    Hello, comrades Toshiba users,
at first, I apologize if this question has already been answered, but I did not find the answer to my problem.

One of my colleagues has a Toshiba Qosmio G20 with two 80 GB drives. Big 17-inch "surf-board-sized" computers laptops are not my cup of tea, but the Qosmio him quite well served.
We tried to upgrade the two hard drives of aging in his laptop. With considerable experience in replacing the readers of the laptop, I didn't expect no particular surprise, but I was wrong.

We tried to replace the original disks
Bay 1: 80 GB Fujitsu drive, System
2: 80 GB Fujitsu drive, data, RAID off the coast of the Bay

    with the new
Bay 1: 320 GB WD Scorpio
WD Scorpio 2: 320 GB drive Bay.

The BIOS of the G20 is v1.30, the latest version. It recognizes new readers-, but one of the new marking as 1RAID-0 disks fails. After trying to "initialize" the 320 GB drive in bay 1 as 1RAID-0, on the third page of the G20 of BIOS, there is a disk activity, but the drive remains in JBOD mode.

Unable to mark the drive of 320 GB 1RAID-0, I am unable to use the 320 GB drive as a system disk.

If the original system drive is cloned on a new 320 GB drive, that it does not start. Starting XP * begins * but subsequently fails with STOP 0x7B - in other words, the infamous blue screen INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE when the Toshiba RAID driver is loaded during Windows startup.
Plain vanilla CD, of course with slipstreamed windows installation driver Toshiba, impossible rest. Installing Windows don't "see" drive in Bay 2.

When the drive system is put in the high Bay and G20 is started from it, Windows XP starts correctly. The drive in Bay 1 is accessable from Windows, however, remains offline in the RAID from Toshiba console. If the start player in Bay 2 is not an option, too.

A similar problem, where the owner could not install a system of 200 GB drive is described here
    Link: http://tinyurl.com/38wokw
The owner, however managed to install a 100 GB drive and we have resorted to 80 GB of disk as a system disk and the only player upgrade in Bay 2 to 320 GB.

I understand what happens when the disk is 'initialized' in the BIOS. Only brands of BIOS of Toshiba disk 1RAID-0, and it breaks down on 320 GB drive. I will refrain from expressing my opinion on this practice.

My question is - if it is possible, how * manually * mark the drive of 320 GB 1RAID-0?
Using a hex editor, dd or something similar is no problem. A partial answer would also know the disc more large size which * can * be marked with success under the name of 1RAID-0 at BIOS G20.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I m not 100% sure, what could be wrong by presumably 320 HARD drive size might be too big!
How about the 100 GB or 120 GB hard drives?

I think you should consider it because usually most of the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and therefore not all sizes are supported.

But note; using the configuration of 1RAID-0 (striping), met by the operating system size is twice more only if the smaller of the two HARD drives in RAID configuration. Using RAID-0, all data on both disks will be lost, even if it is training of two disks fails.

  • Qosmio G20 screen is comatible with display Qosmio G10?

    Hello

Dose anyone know if the screen Toshiba Qosmio G10 is compatible with the Toshiba Qosmio G20?

    Thank you guys

    Of
    Sweet

    Hello

I think display of the G20 should be compatible with the Qosmio G10 display.
I searched a bit and found that the Qosmio G10-100 PQG10E was fitted with the 17 "WIDE XGA LCD.
The Qosmio G20-101 PQG20E supports the same 17 "WIDE XGA display.

Therefore, it seems that both units use the same screen.

  • Qosmio G20 = video cable component and videos in high definition with Pinnacle

    Dear everybody
I bought my Qosmio G20-120 of the Poland that came with D video cable SCART. This cable is only capable of transferring video signals (CVBS) which is pretty useless, because Qoismio already has a S-video out... What is the best simple video production I can get to SCART.
According to www.toshiba-europe.com Qoismio is supposed to have video output component. But it comes with cable SCART instead. I always try to make this component video cable D-video of the Distributor. If I don't succeed, does anyone know if and where I can buy this cable in Europe? Or is it possible to make a video component with the D-video out D-video cable with cable SCART?
Everyone last tried the channels high definition DVB-S on Qoismio using USB 2.0 DVB - S TV Card.Any opinions on Pinnacle PCTV 400e?
    Thank you

    Hello

Sorry, but I don t agree with you. SCART in my opinion is always better than S-Video. As far as I know cable SCART can transfer image and sound and picture just S-Video. Am I wrong?

In my view, it's great that laptop Qosmio has two video ports and each use can make a choice.

Another way your ad is a bit confusing to me. Qosmio G20 includes a section on the port (D-video) and as far as I know the original cable must be provided. You can see on this page http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB4A00TK000MR01.htm

Using this cable you can easily connect your laptop to the TV.

    Also check this http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ5300XK0012R01.htm document
It can also be interesting and useful to you.

  • Qosmio G20 error message: problem with the cooling system has been detected

I'm trying to fix a Qosmio G20 (which is about 3 years old, it is no longer in warranty).

Error message: Warning: a problem with the cooling system has been detected.

I managed to remove the outer case and observe the operation of the machine, and basically one of the fans does not at all. The fan which is closest to the power connector seems to work very well (he seems to be turning a lot, do not know if this is normal), but the other fan who does not seem to move at all.

When I put in place the case and on the machine, I noticed after a few minutes the vent of the fan working heat sink had warm enough, while led the non-working fan remained cool.

I cleaned the fan from dust and have also changed the BIOS battery mode mode high performance, but the problem still exists.

I would be grateful if someone could give advice if the problem is the fan or something else.

If the fan is the problem, where I can buy a: i live in the United Kingdom?

    Hello

I think there might be something wrong with the cooling module and the replacement would be necessary.
Usually, this should be done by an authorized provider (ASP) in your country.

Technicians could replace it with a new part and also could renew the thermal grease which is placed between the module and the CPU cooling.

So contact the ASP in your country and ask for later handling.

By the way; also, you can buy the cooling of the ASP module!

    Good luck

  • Qosmio G20-123 with two questions (WIFI AND ELECTROSTATIC)

I BOUGHT THE QOSMIO G20-123 ON 30 OCTOBER 2005, FRANCE.
IT'S THE SECOND QOSMIO I (I BOUGHT THE FIRST QOSMIO G10-126 OF FRANCE IN JANUARY 2005 AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE). NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT I ONLY BUY TOSHIBA BRAND FOR MY LAPTOP SINCE THE YEAR 2000.

UNFORTUNATELY, THIS NEW QOSMIO G20-123 HAS TWO PROBLEMS.
I WILL ADDRESS THE TWO ISSUES AND THE RESPONSE THAT I RECEIVED FROM TOSHIBA LEBANON (WHERE I LIVE) I HAD THE EXPERIENCE AND THEY HAVE VERY GOOD TECHNICIANS AND SERVICE.

    FIRST PROBLEM: WIFI CONNECTION
I HAVE THE APPLE AIRPORT EXPRESS AS ACCESS POINT, WHEN I CONNECT THE QOSMIO WIRELESS ACCESS point IT STARTS WITH a SPEED OF 54 Mbps THEN IT COMES down to 1 Mbits/S.i. HAVE to PRESS THE BUTTON REPAIR so that the speed is up to 54 Mbps, and then a few minutes later, it comes down again once at 1 Mbps.
SO FAR I HAVE NO RESPONSE FROM TOSHIBA ON HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

SECOND PROBLEM: FIELD ELECTROSTATIC AROUND THE SCREEN

WHEN I TOUCH THE METAL OF THE LCD FRAME, THERE IS A LOAD ELECTROSTATIC, FLUCTUATING TENSION ALL AROUND.
IT SEEMS THAT IT LACKS A PLUG OF EARTH (EARTH) SOMEWHERE... I'VE EVER SEEN AN ADAPTER TOSHIBA WITH A SHEET CONTAINING 3 HEADS (EARTH).
SO FAR THIS PROBLEM TOO HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED.
ALSO AS I MENTIONED HIGHER, MY OLD QOSMIO G10-126, WHICH IS PLACED NEXT TO EACH OTHER, USING THE SAME ACCESS POINT AND THE SAME ELECTRICITY INTAKE, AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY WELL WITHOUT THESE PROBLEMS. WHAT SOMEONE HAS THESE PROBLEMS?
CAN YOU HELP ME SOLVE THEM?
