Question about Canon Raw to DNG format convert

I'm looking for help with the Canon RAW files to DNG conversion.  I plan to migrate storage of DNG files to keep having to carry the sidecar autour files.  At the beginning of the year to use the Adobe raw conversion utility, I notice the image is changed and would like to know if this is typical or if I'm doing something wrong.  I have attached two screenshots that show the original raw photo and the histogram and the converted file and the obvious compressed histogram.  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The actual conversion to DNG does not change the raw data. I suspect that what you see is maybe a default rendering in your application? Impossible to say what you use of the screenshot.

I downloaded the new DNG Converter, but my question is, RAW files should they be converted to DNG program first, is not a plugin for PS? I think that a plugin would work within the PS, without having to be filled separately. Thank you.

The dng converter is not a plugin, then Yes, we must first convert them files camera raw to DNG best.

  • Question about importing RAW and JPEG

    Greetings,

Support of Adobe at the following page talks about the "import and preferences file management Definition:

I have a few questions about this, and I would really appreciate your input gtting. (I also posted this question on this page, but I don't know if it was the right place...)

    1. that means 'otherwise, Lightroom treats the JPEG in doubles as a file? The JPEG format is not available at all in these circumstances? What can I do with this file "jpeg"? Is located in the same folder as the RAW images?

    2. my understanding is that the JPEG image contains the treatment unit (e.g., Vivid, sharpning, etc.); When I import pictures from my Nikon (NEF) raw, LR does not apply to these parameters, and the image I see in LR is * really * gross (i.e., bland and "free upgrades").  If I shoot and bring in JPEG and RAW, LR is it possible to have LR somehow automatically "make RAW image look like the JPEG?

    Thank you in advance!

    Zevi

    (1) No, it simply as an initial overview.  LR replaces this overview as soon as it renderes its own.

    (2) the profiles are already built for Nikon and Canon.  Look in the calibration Panel in the develop module.

  • Question about Canon 6 d

I can't download raw images from my Canon 6 d in PSE 8.  Does anyone have advice?

Canon 6 d must 7.3 RTAs that is supported in PES 11. You can find this information here: eras.html http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cam

To work with PSE 8, you need DNG converter to convert your RAW in DNG images, and then you can open the DNG files in PSE 8.

  • 14-bit NEF to DNG format convert

    Hi all

given that I can't find definitive information on this... How Lighroom 4 deals with 14 bit NEF raw files (coming in this case a D7000) when he converted to the DNG format? All 14 bit color information kept or is it some sort of loss or the current conversion?

    See you soon

    Michael

NEF-14 bits files will convert the DNG files with 14-bit resolution. There may be minor differences, the DNG format has different fields to the NEF format, so there is necessarily a process of translation, but there will be no loss of resolution.

  • Filter in adobe bridge to select only the Raw files to DNG format convert

Here's my problem - I have a new camera DMC TZ70 and 5.7 Lightroom does not recognize the. RW2 files. I would need to buy LR6! Maybe later.

So I thought that I import via the bridge and convert to DNG.

So I open the bridge, and then select the camera - great - BUT there are files for Raw, the same number of JPEG files images and some .bdm. TDT etc files. (for example 3 raw + 7 others).

I can set up a filter to Show only Raw files when I see what files are in the folder of the card at the Bridge, but when I select "get photos from camera" I can either select all OR deselect and then I need to MANUALLY select raw files. There seems not to be a way to set up a filter in the form of Downloader so that bridge selects only the Raw files for conversion.

If I left it all, Bridge Converts the RW2 in DNG files, but also provides in the JPGs and other files. I can delete these later, but this seems an inefficient way to do it.

Is it possible to manually select raw files in the form of Photo Downloader?

    Advice please, thank you, Mel

I guess the answer's bridge doesn't do what I want, but not Lightroom - bought LR6

  • Two questions about Camera Raw and Lightroom

I am now shooting in RAW image format only and catalog images in Lightroom.

My first question is: how to open an image in Camera Raw from Lightroom? When I right-click on an image in Lightroom, it gives me a choice to edit > Photoshop, but does not not the choice of editing in Camera Raw. In fact, when I'm outside of Lightroom and just double-click on one of these RAW images, it opens in Photoshop. What is going on? Before that I installed Lightroom, a double click on a RAW file would force the latter open in Camera RAW.

My second question is: Lightroom seems to have all the same controls during processing of a RAW image as does plug in Camera Raw. Does this mean that I no longer need to open images in Camera Raw? I just did all my settings inside Lightroom? I guess that the xmp file is the same as modified in Lightroom or Camera Raw.

Pleas put me straight on that.

    Thank you

    Ken

    Your second question:

My second question is: Lightroom seems to have all the same controls during processing of a RAW image as does plug in Camera Raw.

Responding to your first. Lightroom and ACR share code, rendering you get from Lightroom with the same parameters is therefore exactly the same as in ACR. What happens is that when you say "Edit in Photoshop", ACR is recalled by Lightroom and the development parameters are passed along. ACR then renders the RAW with these settings and open it in Photoshop. Then, because you already have a working for the settings interface, there is no point in showing them to you once again.

Does this mean that I no longer need to open images in Camera Raw? I just did all my settings inside Lightroom?

It depends on your workflow. I have more if open images in ACR directly like Lightroom offers a more effective interface in my opinion. Other people I'm sure that prefer the approach of Bridge/ACR.

I guess that the xmp file is the same as modified in Lightroom or Camera Raw.

Lightroom is not change the default sidecars. All changes are stored in the database. This allows you to have virtual copies with different parameters of development and more stuff like that. You can have Lightroom write using xmp sidecars "save metadata to file" in menu metadata in library or by turning on the automatic xmp file generation in preferences. There is usually no real point to do this however as "Edit in Photoshop" route works fine. It is really useful when you have a stream of mixed production that still use the bridge. If you share images with others, you are better of DNG, exporter or subsets of images as catalogs with the included images.

  • Question about Camera RAW update

    Hello

I work with the CS3 version on a Windows 7 computer.  I just discovered that I use RAW 4.0.  There are several updates since 4.1 and ending with 4.6 (I think).  My question is should I update 4.0 to 4.6 or should I go from 4.0 to 4.1, 4.2. until I reached 4.6?

    Thanks for the help

Go right at 4.6.  It's all included.

  • A few Questions about the export of Animations Formats in and interactive PDF

    Hi people

According to my previous ramblings, I just go CS5.5 and am very interested in the animation and the side of interactive documents of things.

I created a document as a test that has a video (mp4) and a slideshow (using the buttons to the previous step and the next step of stacked images).

I can export it as a swf file, all perfectly, but the first few people I sent there do not have flash player.  I thought that most of the people would be able to open it but apparently not.  Is there a better format for export?

I tried to export as an interactive pdf, but my slide show button does not work then.  I don't quite see the element of interaction of one interactive pdf other than being able to put in a video (which I have not yet tried).  Im sure someone can enlighten me!

Any help?  Are swf is intended primarily for Web sites where people can see it this way rather than be sent by electronic mail?

    See you soon

Animations and slideshow features are available only in a SWF file, which, as you have discovered, requires Flash.

Workaround: select only the slideshow and the buttons that are associated and export to SWF format using the option on the export dialog box. Then replace the SWF file in InDesign. Use the media panel to create an image of the poster. Can export to PDF.

  • Two Questions about the export in PDF format

When I export my document of a book in PDF format, I met two problems, I was still not able to understand.

    1. one is that bookmarks are not binding when I click on them. I tried a number of different recording options.

Document book pop up menu I tried to export both print and interactive and the next document window options, I tried selection and de-selection of almost everything, but still no change.

    2. the second Issos is I want the PDF book to open in a different display size, but no matter what setting I chose when exporting, PDF file always opens the same size: great! The reader has to zoom in to get a good read size. Is it possible to have the PDF open in different size repel?

    Yes

  • Questions about the report in the format

I created a table of presentation, project Metrics median days, with the following columns:

    Final Protocol of FPFV days
    Synopsis of Final days Protocol

(there are up to 13 settings)

These measures have links with the W_DAY_D and Tagert days dimension tables.

so I can create reports such as:
Metric Name(of Target Days)      Target Days (of Target Days)      Actual_End Date Quarter(of W_DAY_D)       Synopsis to Final Protocol  Median Days        Final Protocol to FPFV Median Days
    with filter Actual_End Date quarter = '2010 Q 2'.

This will give me report as:
Metric Name                                   Target Days                       Actual_End Date Quarter                      Synopsis to Final Protocol  Median Days                   Final Protocol to FPFV Median Days
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Synopsis to Final Protocol                  42                                   2010 Q 2                                                   205
    Final Protocol to FPFV                      140                                  2010 Q 2                                                                                                                                  54
    ...
But I really need to report in the form:
Metric Name                                   Target Days                       Actual_End Date Quarter                     Actual  Median Days         Year-To-Date Median Days
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Synopsis to Final Protocol                  42                                   2010 Q 2                                              205                           45
    Final Protocol to FPFV                      140                                  2010 Q 2                                              54                            160
    ...
How can I do to move the data from multiple columns in a column and create median Year-To-Date data on the same report?

  • PSE 7 - Canon 60 d - DNG converter 6.3.0.79: does not work

    Hello

I have PSE 7 and just got a nice Canon 60 d camera. "CR2" of this camera RAW files are not recognized by the Organizer in PSE 7. They are not recognised in Camera Raw 5.6, I have install in PSE 7. The Canon 60 d is covered by a more recent version of Camera Raw, but version 5.6 is the last which is compatible with PSE 7.

As I understand it, the solution would be to convert my RAW CR2 files to DNG format using the DNG Converter. So I installed the stand-alone DNG Converter, version 6.3.0.79. It seems to open correctly. The problem is that the first step, when I select the file in which are stored RAW of the Canon 60 d files, the DNG Converter does not see them. No files appear in the right pane of the file Explorer that opens, once in the direrectory where the files are stored, and it is written "No Items Match your search. Of course, after clicking on the "Select" button I get the message "no images have been selected. I know that the files are there because they appear in Windows Explorer (Vista 32 bit) and seem to be properly described here when I check their 'properties '. Some of these the Canon 60 d Camera CR2 RAW files have been trasfered from the SD card to the hard drive by the Organizer (although the organiser does not show them and refuses to import them into your own environment). Others have been "copied and pasted" from 'I' drive to the hard drive. Same result in both cases.

The question is: what can I do to convert my RAW CR2 for Canon 60 d in DNG format camera?

Thank you very much. Thank you very much!

    Make two new folders:

    (1) CR2 files to process

    (2) the DNG file converted

Place your CR2 files in folder 1.

Open the DNG Converter, and then click Select folder (1) to browse and choose a folder 1

Then click on select folder (2) (except in the new location) to browse and choose a folder 2

    Click on convert.

Wait for program to finish, then exit.

Go to the folder 2 to find your DNG files and import of items with file > Get Photos > files & folders.
