Question about the Oracle Client software
Good afternoonThe following statement appears in the day 2 DBA OBE for Chapter 4:
>
You must first install the Oracle database client software, which includes the Oracle Net software.
>
I downloaded the instant client, installed and everything works fine. However, the instant client does not include the Oracle Net software. I searched for a 'no snapshot' customer ;) he would understand, but did not find these clients. I tried to start the complete installation (downloaded from the Oracle site) and there is no option to install the client only.
Question: There is another client that includes the Oracle Net software as described in the OBE? If Yes, where is it?
Thank you for your help,
John.
Yes, the "full" client package is available in the downloads / database and has a name like this:
Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0) Client for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
(and of course is available for different platforms)

Question about the Oracle database resource management
Good evening
I have a question about Oracle database Resource Management (DRM) for Oracle Database 10 g. I had an incident which, in a development/UAT environment (different instances, same box, don't ask), a developer wrote a wrong SQL statement that consumed 99% of the CPU. Currently, there is no limit of resources on two cases of db, and the developers don't want limits. However, my manager wants a method to prevent something like this does not happen. If I use the Oracle database resources management, create a consumer group (called "DevEnv") at 40% CPU usage, what will happen if a user of DevEnv runs a bad SQL statement that normally consumes 90% CPU again? Anyone would take a different approach? Thank you.
Sincerely,

If users in the case of "db_uat" use 60% CPU would be users who belongs to DevEnv pending 'db_test' cannot be used more than 40% CPU, so their queries become slower at their end? I would like to know if this behavior works the same in an environment of multiple instances. Thank you.Yes, because the available processor would be 40%, they use more, while.

Question about the Microsoft malicious software removal tool
Recently, I downloaded and executed the MS Malicious Software Removal Tool. He said that if it finds any infected file he would remove the. I did 2 quick scans, and twice he told them I had 3 infected files, but at the end of the scan it says no malicious software found. Anyone know anything about this?
Hi Flamencoqueen,
Please use the Forum for answers!
Different security programs have different detection evaluates, performance etc. It could be that when scanning infected files were found and removed. If you have reason to believe that the result cannot be specific, you can choose to run that more than one antivirus program on a particular system provided that they are not in conflict with one another.

A question about the Oracle SQL Developer Oracle instance connection
Hi all
I would be grateful if you could kindly give me a helping hand.
Recently, I installed the Oracle 11 g on Linux (ubuntu 8.10) database. I not create startup scripts. So here's how I start the server: (my linux user name is "dariyoosh", but in order to start the server I have connection on the terminal shell as user 'oracle')
Then I can work without any problems with my database and everything works pretty well. Today, I decided to install Oracle SQL Developer IDE as it makes it easier to modify the SQL code. My problem is that after reading the tutorial Oracle online, that I am still able to connect to my database. Firstly according to the method that I wrote, I have set up the Oracle instance. But then when I run Oracle SQL Developer I don't know what to choose for the user name and password? because since SQL * Plus shell as you can see I always write: "sqlplus 'virtue sysdba' and it does not prompt me for any password, I can access the database directly." Any idea? What password? What user name? for Oracle SQL Developer?dariyoosh@alborz:~$ su oracle Password: oracle@alborz:/home/dariyoosh$ cd oracle@alborz:~$ ORACLE_SID=database01 oracle@alborz:~$ . oraenv ORACLE_SID = [database01] ? The Oracle base for ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1 is /u01/app/oracle oracle@alborz:~$ sqlplus '/as sysdba' ... SQL> STARTUP NOMOUNT ORACLE instance started. ... SQL> ALTER DATABASE MOUNT; ... SQL> ALTER DATABASE OPEN; Database altered.
Thanks in advance. When you connect "/ as sysdba", you actually connect as the user named SYS from the privileges of your operating system. SYS is the owner of the database and a privileged user. You really want to use this username for the day to day operations, but only for what can do only SYS. If you need a different user name. Several Oracle databases have a user named SCOTT who has a number of tables for use tutorial. By default, the password for SCOTT's "Tiger." You may also have other demo users, such as "HR". I admit that I forgot what is the password of the HR, but it doesn't really matter because SYS can change with this command:
ALTER USER hr IDENTIFIED BY whateveryouwant;
This command:
SELECT USERNAME FROM ALL_USERS;
lists all the users in your database. Understand that many of these users are there as owners of objects such as stored procedures and tables for Application Express, or TYPEs for Oracle Locator, not for general use. When you are ready to create your own objects, ask SYS create a username for them with
CREATE USER myusername IDENTIFIED BY mypassword;
and grant that user the privileges as necessary. You'll want to read before you get too far - I think that the developer of the Application Guide is a good starting point.

Any idea about this problem on installing the Oracle Client
Hello
Client computer: Dell notebook, i5, Win 7 SP1 Enterprise 64-bit (8 GB of RAM)
I am trying to install the oracle 11.2.0.3 client 64-bit on this machine, but facing problems. After I'm done specifying ORACLE_BASE and selection of the language and 'Administrative' selected option instead of 'instant customer' or 'Runtime', by clicking on the next button, progress bar is displayed and the time it's done with audit requirements that disappears from the screen moving in together. I ran the installer with the option "Run as Administrator" too and tried to use 11.2.0.2 setup, but in vain.
Quick question... I have a CSI valid, if I get a ticket with Oracle, they would help me on problem installing client that I am facing. In the past I was able to install the client on this machine, I am just clueless despite that I looked at the log generated by the Setup program file.

Unfortunately, there are administrators in Windows, then there are administrators. Apparently not all administrators are created equal. Don't ask me to explain, I do not understand myself, I just know that this is a truth. Still a reason more I learned to avoid Windows I get chances.

I have a question about the functionality of Oracle Identity Manager...?
Hi friends
I have a question about the features of Oracle Identity Manager.
Here's my question:
Self-management is possible network passwords (reset / unlock) with Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0.2
Very grateful. What Kevin suggested this means that you are managing accounts and their password by IOM. If your condition is the same then follow:

R12.1.3 - question about the version of the client
We currently run R12.3 on Linux with a 10g on windows desktop client.
Refresh us our corporate desktop computers with Windows 7 and also push to get all our databases (including the R12) for 11.2.0.3, it seems that the good time to update our Office of oracle 11 g client (11.2.0.1 I think it is).
Are there compatibility issues, I need to be concerned regarding the reports on the application tier runs 10 gr 2 and Oracle forms?
Must client version match version App Tier?

OK, I was not sure if there's confidence on the oracle client or not and it seems not.
So I don't see why we can't have a role on the 11g client (test) and if necessary also to install the developer 10g client.
All right?
Totally

Reg: Preloading in the Oracle client.
Hi Experts,
What exactly is the concept behind the 'prefetch' in the Oracle client.
My understanding - is the number of records retrieves customer data base and throws it to the user.
Read a few posts on AskTom
1. https://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:6840389700346552727
2. https://asktom.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:429660240587
But still I got some doubts-
1. you want to understand the concept in detail as network round trips, data packets, etc.
2. a scenraio - say my query will generate 158 K records, and I put my line Prefetch = 3500 to my client. It will be really beneficial? The customer while recovery displays the current state as "go get... records of 2002...". 3003, 4004... etc.
Why get it 1,000 records, while I put the 3500.
Please notify.
Thank you and best regards,
-Nordine
(on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 / SQL client Tools)
Imagine the most stupid possible implementation (in a perspective of network traffic)
The client sends a request to the database (1 trip)
The client then requests the first line
Oracle executes the request well enough to find the first line, which returns to the client (1 trip)
The client then requests the following line
Oracle executes the request well enough to find the first line, which returns to the client (1 trip)
---
Repeat 158 000 times, until the last line is read
As a round trip network is, in the best cases, the order of 10 milliseconds, it would mean that 158 000 back and forth network would consume seconds 1580 or about 26 minutes just networking air before adding in time for Oracle to generate results or the customer to do something with the results.
Table extraction generally reduced this problem by allowing the client to fetch more than 1 row with each round trip. If you pick 100 lines at once, you have need of round-trips of 1580, which would take 15.8 seconds in our environment of hypothetical return of 10ms. If you get 1000 rows at a time, you have 158 network trips that would take 1.58 seconds. But, of course, is not really as simple as that. Network packets are not arbitrarily size so the lines you are great and go look for these lines, the packages more you exchange which makes extraction individual times more. This means that network fetch load reduction is almost certainly less linear on a reasonable range of fetch sizes - maybe the example of 100 line passes 30 seconds on fetch of network load and the sample line of 1000 passes 10 seconds. As with anything, you want to compare in your environment with your data to see where your application gets the best performance.
As for what the customer is displayed, it is a question for the customer. I guess the customer is written to view independent progress of the fetch size.

Anyone help Pls!
How to check the version of the oracle client installed on my local pc (windows xp)?
I went to start all programs, I can see oracle 10g, 81,92 on my pc.
At the command prompt, I entered sqlplus /nolog it shows the version, but they say it's the version of the server. If we are talking about an Excel spreadsheet with a macro in VB using ODBC to connect to the Oracle database, which ODBC driver are you using? Assuming you are using one of the ODBC Oracle driver path is irrelevant. The driver name should include the name of the Oracle House (that is to say, the ODBC driver will be named 'Oracle in OraHome92' If you use the ODBC driver in the Oracle home "OraHome92" which, no doubt, would be the home Oracle 9.2 (if there are multiple Oracle homes on the machine with the same version of the Oracle client or if you chose the default names for your Oracle homes that do not include the version number , you can search the registry - that is to say the path of specific directory for a particular Oracle home HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST. INI\Oracle in OraDb11g_home1\Driver will be the full path to the SQORA32. DLL which corresponds to the ODBC Oracle driver OraDb11g_home1 hospitality Oracle on my machine - but that is probably farther in the herbs you want to go). If you use the (long) since depricated Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle, then the PATH comes into play because this driver is not consistent stream.

Re: Several questions about the recovery of the Satellite L750 features
I have several questions about the recovery of Satellite L750 features available to it. Any help and answers would be useful.
(1) when I started the laptop first, he asked me to create a recovery CD incase I need to reinstall the operating system. But he also said that he built in the recovery partition, so therefore, I have to make a recovery cd or not?
(2) will be the recovery CD is exactly the same as the recovery on the system partition?
(3) is the partion of CD or recovery includes all the integrated software pre-installed with the laptop?
(4) also in the device manage management it shows watch partion recovery but it is empty, is it true?
(5) in the second partition (drive D) system, he has a record with what looks like the recovery of files and folders. Is it safe to move/remove it?
Hello
I'll try to provide answers:
1 - to ensure that everything works perfectly you don t need these discs, but if something goes wrong with the HARD drive you will not be able to do anything. When you have the recovery DVDs, you will still be able to install the recovery image and once again the factory settings. So my advice to you is: create these discs as soon as possible. Use only on DVD-R media and buy products of high quality (TDK or Verbatim).
2 - Yes.
3 - Yes.
4 - No. Don t be confused with this.
5. in a first time create restore DVD, and later you can do what you want. I put t know which files mean you but don t touch anything before that of the recovery disks to be created. In the past, many people have been experimenting with the structure of HARD drive and partitions and later was surprised when installing disk recovery HARD has been damaged. Don t make the same mistake.
If you have any other questions you are welcome.

Question about the charging light on the venue Pro 11 (5130)
I'm curious... read these discussions in recent weeks... found this work with the Tablet for about 2.5 hours after... I was up to 75% of battery. Connect the tablet to install a software... noticed 75%, not charging. Stop... removed the battery and put it back... He then read 75%, in charge. OK... so what's fixed now... a question about the manual of the system. Said that when the battery is charging, a white light is supposed to be on... where? When that I start, I see a momentary white light at the top of the screen, by the front camera... but when it is plugged and the loading and off... white light no.... No a - I misread? Thank you
Light (color is white when the load) is located next to the power switch (top, right). Mine re-load very fast.
White light goes off (or does not) when the Tablet is fully charged (the light on the charger is always on when it is plugged into the outlet)...

I have a question about the localTimeStamp function. According to the documentation for this function is
the same thing as current_TimeStamp except that the returned value does not include the time zone.Consider the following example:
SQL > create table tmptab (colval timestamp with time zone not null);
Table created.
SQL > insert into tmptab (colval) values (localTimeStamp);
1 line of creation.
SQL > select t1.colval, tmptab from t1;

Could someone kindly tell me what I misunderstood?
Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,
Then, when you do
create table t (neck DATE);
Insert into t (to_date ('1st January 2014', ' mon-dd-yyyy "");)
Are you surprised that it works? After all a DATE column contains a time component, you do not provide: but he
works and gives you 00:00:00 as the component "hour".
Similarly, the timezone component is being developed to automatically with, I think, time zone of your system.

Where should questions about the JDEV/ADF positions?
Hello
Where should questions about the JDEV/ADF positions?
JDeveloper and ADF or
JDeveloper and ADF?
I found there may be some different advantageous:
Thank you.
Well, the other forum you mentioned is the Korean equivalent of the English forum.
You have already discovered, it is not controlled to many users. I didn't know that it exists at all.
In general it is to you where you ask your questions. All for one here are driven by the community and some employees of the Oracle, you cannot wait has answered all your questions. If you really need to answer you go through paid support.
A tip for getting help is to provide a well-defined use cases, information relating to your environment and documented code showing what you have already tried.

a few questions about the migration of content/web content
Hi all
I have a few questions about the migration of the website and content (from development to test) which are not specified after reading the oracle documentation.
-> When we make the site replication will be migrated content (data files).
-> when we move will contained all the ED and RD etc (any object type web site migrated).
--> are the two the necessary step for migration when we migrate web site.
Thank you
-Yves--> When we make the site replication of the content will be migrated (data files).
It depends on how you do it. The tool 'Site Studio Replicator' won't move any content, only the structure of the site. The 'Manage replication Site' page can be used to migrate content with the structure of the site but I do not recommend for large sites, I use separate tasks to archive to move the content. "Backup and restore" page stores the entire site in a ZIP file, not advisable for large sites.
--> When migrate us content will be all ED and RD etc (any object type web site migrated).
Yes. It uses the metadata xWebsites field to identify the elements that belong to the site.
--> are the two the necessary step for migration when we migrate web site.
Depends on how you do it, but yes, all bits are needed.
