Question about the replica data store

I am set up a plan view and I can't find anything on the lines how much I should put on a data store. We have a pretty small environment with approximately 120 related clones.

Can I create pools of 5 to 10 for all use the same data replica store? I don't want to have all these little datastore who chew on the SAN iSCSI connections. It would be easier to have a data store that is easy to move all replicas.

Thank you.

Yes, you can store several replicas to a data store.  It is often considered to be best practices in order to unload the aftershocks of a SSD data store.    I just would make sure that the data store can handle IO reading for all replicas.

  • I have a simple question about the meta-data.

    Hello. It is a simple question about the meta-data. How can I get the video bitrate of a flv or mp4 (video playing via NetStream file) file

    right now I have this:

    Code
    var netClient:Object = new Object();
    netClient.onMetaData = function(meta:Object)
    {
    for (var in meta props) {}
    trace (props + ":" + meta [props]);
    }
    MovieClip (root) .durations = meta.duration;
    trace (MovieClip (root) .durations);
    };
    NS.client = netClient;

    And my output is:

    videocodecid: avc1
    audiocodecid: m4as
    aacaot: 2
    Width: 960
    AudioChannels: 2
    videoframerate: 23.976

    avclevel: 31
    seekpoints: [object Object], [object Object], [object Object], [object Object]
    height: 540
    Duration: 221.312

    As you can see, there is nothing of video bitrate.

    I know that the video bitrate of my videos, but then I have to manually type each number of bitrate into my flash project, and it would be such a fuss when I have a lot of videos. Would be nice if flash can detect the video bitrate.

    It's for my online portfolio.

    Why you divide by 8?  If you want to convert bytes into bits, multiply by 8.

  • Getting name of VMhost who questioned when retrieving information about the NFS data stores

    Sorry if the question has already been asked,

    I try to present NFS shares in each ESXi host and that does the trick

    Get-datastore. where type - eq 'NFS ' | Select name

    However, I want to retrieve the name of the host from which the information is retrieved.

    Unfortunately I do not see the name of the $vmhost among the names when I use get-datastore. get-member.

    How I do that?

    Thank you

    Alex

    Try something like this

    foreach($esx in Get-VMHost){    Get-Datastore -RelatedObject $esx |     Where type -eq "NFS" |     Select Name,        @{N="VMHost";E={$esx.Name}},        @{N="Host";E={$_.Extensiondata.Info.Nas.RemoteHost}},         @{N="Mount point";E {$_.Extensiondata.Info.Nas.RemotePath}}}

    A way to see what are the properties on an object is like this

    $ds = Get-Datastore -Name DS1$ds.ExtensionData | Format-Custom -Depth 3

    I'm running vSphere 5.1 and want to enable storage Drs before as I have create the cluster data store, I was reading through VMware vSphere 5.1, but don't see any confirmation when I add data to the cluster storage, the virtual machines using these storage of data is not affected.

    Can anyone confirm that the addition of a data to a data cluster store store has no impact on virtual machines running?

    You can add and remove data warehouses in a cluster of data with VMS running store.

  • A few questions about the use of data and Cliq

    I have the cliq, however I chose to not get 3G (so I bought full fare). So I have a few questions about the phone and the use of 3G / 2 G/Edge:

    1 - is possible to disable completely the 2G / 3 G/Edge? I know you can switch between them, but are anyway just tell the phone to stop using them altogether since I'm not subbed to the service?

    2. when the update takes place, I guess we'll have to reconnect motoblur and etc, but if I don't have 3 G will I have motoblur connection problems after the update? Or he keeps the latest wifi settings so that it would connect to wifi to connect. When I first got my phone it was not a problem b/c I had 3G for the first month.

    I hope that makes sense, thanks!

    To stop all the data, I would like to download an application called APNDroid. He cut them all down. When you log on to blur you have 3G or WIFI doe this without getting a timeout error. During the process of setting up your Blur account, you can press the menu button and set up your wifi to work, this will connect you to Blur and your phone will be connected to the blur. If I were you I would be rethinking to do a data plan since you are really losing out on most of your main features of phones. It's your choice, however.

  • Questions about the stores in iProcurement

    All,

    I have a few questions about the implementation of iProcurement stores-

    1 oracle comes seeded with 2 stores "Backend" and "Exchange.Oracle.com. We do not have the use of these stores. I don't see an option to turn them off. Is it advisable to delete them? They occupy unnecessary space and are seen first. I read this on Metalink Note ID 429470.1 - "NOTE: while the value can be changed, it is highly recommended to not under any circumstances ever remove"Main store"page stores to manage content in iProcurement catalog administrator responsibility.» Do not know why.

    2. we have a Punchout for Dell U.S. catalog store and a catalog of information for Dell International. Buyers of Dell are iProcurement to each punchout to place their orders from Dell for the USA (shopping cart returns to iProcurement) - or - just use the store Dell International to go to an external URL and place their orders here (who do not return to iProcurement). What we see is - when the user clicks on the icon Dell us, it is taken directly to the URL of the PunchOut of Dell, but when he clicks on the Dell International icon, he was first taken to the list of catalogs available to the store (only 1 available catalog) and the user must then click again on the link Dell International. Is there a way to configure the Dell International icon to behave the way behaves in the Punchout icon - i.e. directly take the user to the Dell page without a need to show the list of catalogs.

    Hey,.
    To answer your Questions
    1. you can always delete those either if you want to... The reason why the link Meta Notes say not only not to delete the main store is
    i. because main store has all of the Local content in iProcurement (i.e. If you have any installation of items in the inventory you and them Module iProcurement Enabled (IE can be purchased at iProcurement) and any other article of local catalogues/categories Loaded using the BULK LOADING in iProcurement is also removed.)
    II. you can always delete the information Exchange Oracle store if you do not use.
    I would advise so do not remove the main store. Instead, you can change the sequence of the display of the stores you iProcurement Page.
    Browsing ==> Internet shopping Catalog Admin (RESP) ==> eContent crib ==> content management ==> stores ==> press the update sequence and make sure that the sequence number for main is superior to any other store so that the hand store falls last in the House of iProcurement Page

    2.i don't think that there is no option to do this. but you can always open an SR with Oracle about it and ask this question\

    hope that answers your Question.

    Thank you

  • Questions about the implementation of clusters of storage and DTS on active cluster

    I have a few questions about the implementation of clusters of data store and SRS storage in VSphere 5.1.

    We have a data center with about 15 HP blades and a few servers non-lame.  The hosts are all either VSphere 5.0 or 5.1.  Our back-end storage is an EMC VNX 5700 with about 20 stores of data.  All the VMWare is managed by VCenter 5.1 running on a dedicated physical machine.

    Currently, each data store is used individually; No piles of data store are put in place.  When a new virtual machine is created, the administrator usually chooses the data with the most space store.  Periodically, we will go back and manually storage vMotion machines to balance the load.

    Recently, we have expanded the VNX storage, so we now have LUNS in different pools, with different levels of performance.

    What I would do is set up for the data store clusters, so that us when a virtual machine is created, the administrator must not know what data store is in which pool.  Also take advantage of the DRS storage so that the burden of storage will be "refine" himself a little.

    I know the setting up of a cluster of storage in a 'clean' environment is quite simple, but my concern is creation/conversion data warehouses existing in active production in the cluster, while they are used.

    If I access the screen "data warehouses and store data from clusters ', right-click on the data center and create a cluster, and then move the various data stores in the new cluster, will there be an interruption in the production running systems?

    I also wonder about activation of storage i/o control.  It is not currently enabled on data warehouses.  I know it's useful for the StorageDRS, but will be allowing any negative impact on the system?  If I turn on the warehouses of data, is there anything else I should do or set in addition to all that allows him?

    Finally, we are in the process of Site Recovery Manager configuration.  SRS has an impact on the configuration of the data clusters and DTS store?

    Thanks in advance for your comments.

    Mike O.

    Gregg Robertson wrote:

    Hello

    Clusters of data and using DTS store doesn't impact RS even if you create a cluster of data store for storage of replicated data and another for everyone else, this way you machines virtual you want to replicate are not moved on warehouses of data that are not replicated , but will still have the ability to move if there is a conflict.

    Gregg

    With all due respect but SRM and DTS don't go together. SRM does not at all support the use of DTS. So if you are configuring SRM forget DTS for now.

    Reason for this is that SRM knows no DTS and VMs can be in flight when a failover should occur, and bad things can happen. Also, the protection breaks when a virtual computer is moved between data warehouses in a cluster data store.

    In short: don't go there.

  • a few questions about the migration of content/web content

    Hi all

    I have a few questions about the migration of the website and content (from development to test) which are not specified after reading the oracle documentation.

    -> When we make the site replication will be migrated content (data files).

    -> when we move will contained all the ED and RD etc (any object type web site migrated).

    --> are the two the necessary step for migration when we migrate web site.

    Thank you

    -Yves

    --> When we make the site replication of the content will be migrated (data files).

    It depends on how you do it. The tool 'Site Studio Replicator' won't move any content, only the structure of the site. The 'Manage replication Site' page can be used to migrate content with the structure of the site but I do not recommend for large sites, I use separate tasks to archive to move the content. "Backup and restore" page stores the entire site in a ZIP file, not advisable for large sites.

    --> When migrate us content will be all ED and RD etc (any object type web site migrated).

    Yes. It uses the metadata xWebsites field to identify the elements that belong to the site.

    --> are the two the necessary step for migration when we migrate web site.

    Depends on how you do it, but yes, all bits are needed.

  • Questions about the discs

    Hi all

    I have 4 quick questions for you:

    (1) from what I understand when you install Operations Manager vCenter, you enter in the data store that will be the location of the installation.

    This data store is then automatically used as a repository for all data collected.

    Is it possible to configure the appliance with a separate data store to store data, separate from the OS device files or what a data store for everything?

    (2) a customer asks if we use Thin Provisioning for the disk where we installed vCenter Server Operations Manager.

    I have read that it is not recommended but I have reason to think that the only bad thing about this is that, if you are installing on a thin disk put in service, there is the risk that you could install the other virtual machines on the same data store and use that Bishop Op disc space it should develop in the future?

    It is more than one scenario/warning "you could do it but be very careful," i.e.?

    I ask because the logic unit number where they want to install will be used only for the device, no other virtual machines.

    (3) is there a recommended maximum size of the data store for this device or is everything what need you?

    I ask because VMware has mentioned that, for the amount of data we wanted to collect, we would need approx. 1.8 to disk space.

    IF we were to install thick provisioning, is there any problem installing the unit on a store of data that big?

    (4) responses to these 3 questions - this changes with the version of vCenter operating i.e. v1.0.1 and v5.0?

    Any comments?

    Thanks in advance

    You could SvMotion disc 2 on the VMS to another database if you want to provide separation.  What is your reasoning to achieve?

    It is not recommended for performance reasons.  Virtual disks add data quickly during the first months of operation and a thin provisioned VMDK would be constantly growing.  There is a decline in write performance when a thin provisioned disk should allocate more space.  This is the rationale for recommending eager thick discs.  Overprovisioning is another concern, as you said.

    VMDK can go up to 2 TB (-512 bytes if someone wants to be picky) in size and you may have many.  I think that the file system dimensionnera up to 16 TB max (based on ext3 and 4 k blocks).  I usually advise to stick to the recommendations of dimensioning of the documentation and monitoring of free space.

    (4) responses to these 3 questions - this changes with the version of vCenter operating i.e. v1.0.1 and v5.0?

    Yes, especially to question 3 - you expand the 2 existing hard drive in 1.0.1 rather than add another vmdk in 5.0.

  • Just a quick question about the appearance of the cluster

    Hello, this is Matthew, just a quick question about the appearance of the cluster

    Is there anyway to rearrange the order of the elements? I know cutting automatic resizing, I could move the items by hand. But if I use the cluster somewhere else, I have to move the items again...

    What I want is of the order of "Mx My Mz Ax Ay Az Temp voltage CS".

    Is there a quicker way to deal with?

    THz so much!

    You can right-click the border of the cluster and choose "arrange control cluster...". "The user interface is not as intuitive as it could be, but it will allow you to reorder items. If you use the cluster in several places, you should make the cluster in a type definition and replace all current uses of the latter with the type definition, so that they all match. They will also update automatically when you make changes to the type definition. Otherwise, you could have a situation where you have multiple groups with the same data types, but with elements in a different order, and your data will be getting a new denominated, when wire you the whole clusters. The data will be in the same order, but given that the item labels are in a different order, you can't get the data you want, when ungroup you by name.

    Yes and there are better ways to reinstall Windows 8 without using the installation disc, you can use the reset and refresh.

    These steps will take you through refreshing your PC:

    · Press the Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    As long as you have a recovery disk which you should create or use the construction in the recovery partition, Yes, it will self activate.

  • Good way to use the concurrent data store

    Hello

    I'm developing a multithreaded C++ application that uses the C++ of Berkeley DB Library.

    In my case, I have several databases that I composed in a wooded area. It is important for me to use an environment because I need control over the cachesize parameter.

    I don't need no guarantee of transaction and have for most of the readings, so I decided to use the "simultaneous database.

    I first pre-fill all databases with a number of entries (configuration single-threaded phase) and then work on it at the same time (for most readings, but also insertions and deletions).

    I tried all kinds of different configurations, but I can't work without specifying DB_THREAD as a flag of the environment.

    I don't want to because then access all handles is synchronized sequentially according to the documentation:

    "... Note that the activation of this indicator will serialize calls to DB using the handle between the threads. If

    simultaneous scaling is important for your application, we recommend handles separate for each thread opening

    (and do not specify this indicator), rather than share handles between threads. "

    (Berkeley DB QAnywhere C++)

    So I tried to open the environment with the following indicators:

    DB_CREATE | DB_PRIVATE | DB_INIT_MPOOL | DB_INIT_CDB

    All data in this environment handles are open only with the DB_CREATE flag.

    So, since my understanding this same basic access handles need to be synchronized, I opened separate handles foreach database for each thread (opening the handles is still single-threaded).

    In my first approach, I have only made use of the object of global environment. Which does not work and gives the following during operations error message:

    DB_LOCK-> lock_put: Lock is no longer valid

    So I thought, since the same handle global env is passed to all handles separate DB, it is perhaps a race condition critical on the handful of approx.

    So in my next test, I opened also handles separate EPS in each thread (and db handles owned each).

    That does not produce an error in db, but now it seems that each thread sees its own version of the databases (I call it stat early in the life of each thread and he sees all of the empty dbs).

    What is the right way to use the concurrent data store? Each thread should really open his own set of db handles? What about the number of open handles env?

    PS: Without specifying that the DB_PRIVATE flag seems to do the job, but for performance reasons, I want all operations to perform in the cache and do not specify product DB_PRIVATE average of several writes to the disk for my scenario.

    Thanks a lot for your help.

    CD (simultaneous database) allows a single editor with multiple drives, access to the db at a given point in time.    The handle for the writer doesn't have to be shared with readers.   If you share the DB handle then calls are synchronized, but if each thread has its own handle DB then this is not the case.     Since you have an environment, DB_THREAD must be at the level of the environment.   This will allow the sharing of the environment handle.     This type of error "DB_LOCK-> lock_put: Lock is no longer valid" you can provide us your code so we can take a look.   Also what BDB version are you using?

  • Questions about the management of specific nodes in different hierarchies

    Hi all

    I have a question about the specific management of some particular set nodes, which are located in different hierarchies within a same version.

    I want to know if there is any editing made to certain properties of these specific nodes or if the nodes are deleted/moved/edited approval to be triggered for the data manager.

    or should not allow users to edit (adding/moving/deleting/changing property values) or those specific members.

    According to my understanding of the nodes of domain prevents the removal of nodes, but I don't want my Member prefix/suffix, domain is the only way to prevent the change.

    Thanks and greetings

    Madhu

    We have an obligation to not allow a node to remove or deleted without the approval of the admin, so I created a Boolean property AllowDelete is false, which is substitutable, default and is available only in a category of property Admin, for which most of the users do not have access.  Then, I created a validation of PropRemove with an error message that tells the user to contact a user admin to remove or delete the node.  The admin can change the AllowDelete to true, then can either remove himself or to allow the user to do.

    Do not know how even tear it down and rebuild it if the disk groups are not visible. The discs are in good health on each host storage adapters.

    Currently the latest version of vCenter 5.5. Hosts running 5.5 build 2068190

    Just built. Happy to demolish and rebuild. Just do not know why it is not visible on the two hosts and the disk groups are only recognized 3 guests when more are contributing. Also strange that I can't get the disk groups to fill in vCenter. I tried two different browsers (chrome and IE).

    I have now works.

    All the identical 5.5 relies on ESXi hosts. All hosts are homogeneous CPU/sum of the prospects for disk controller / installed RAM/storage.

    I have work. I had to manually destroy all traces of the vSAN on each single to help host node:

    (1) put the hosts in maintenance mode and remove the cluster. I was unable to disable vSAN in the cluster, I made on each node host (manually via the CLI below) then disconnected web client vCenter and return to finally refresh the ability to disable on the cluster.

    esxcli vsan cluster get - to check the status of each host.

    esxcli vsan cluster drop - the vSAN cluster host.

    storage of vsan esxcli list - view records in the individual host group

    esxcli vsan storage remove-d naa.id_of_magnetic_disks_here - to remove each of the disks in the disk group (you can ignore this using the following command to remove the SSD only falling each disc in this host group).

    esxcli vsan storage remove s naa.id_of_solid_state_disks_here - this is the SSD and all the magnetic disks in a given disk group.

    After that, I was able to manually add hosts to the cluster, leave maintenance mode and configure the disk groups. Aggregated data of the vSAN data store is correct now, and everything is functional.

    Another question for those of you who still read... How to configure such as the VM storage strategy that migrates towards (or inspired) the vSAN data store will immediately resume the default storage policy, I built for VSANs?

    Thanks for anyone who has followed.
