Question about the use of EM on machine with 2 active instances

Hello

As a free workout, I created 2 instances on a single machine. The machine is, server and client. I'm running Windows XP SP2, Oracle 11 GR 2 (as seen in my handful of user) and using IE7 for MS.

The URL of the first instance is:
https://Oracle2Day1.john.local:1158/em
The URL for the second instance is:
https://Oracle2Day1.john.local:5500/em
If I connect to one and the same instance, then everything works fine.

When I log you at first, then in the second instance, and switch back to the tab of the first instance, I find myself back at the page "user name/password / Connect as", even I don't get the page saying that I was disconnected in the first instance.

Of more, if at this time, I return to the tab of the second instance, I find myself on the page "user name/password / Connect as ' for this instance too.

Basically, whenever I log in proceedings and switch to tab from one case to another, it brings back me to the log in page for both instances.

If I connect in one instance and do not try to connect to the second instance then everything works fine.

Any ideas as to why I can't be connected to two instances at the same time? (I myself can be connected in two cases, simultaneously using SQL * more without any problem) Is there something I can do to fix this or is it "normal"?

Thank you for your help,

John.

This is the limitation of the database console 'free' John. It can be used only one instance at a time. If you want to have a maintenance single window/console to manage the two databases, you must use the option of paid console grid .

It's a little confusing ;) If he opens the 2 consoles EM in 2 separate browsers, should not this market? ;)

John: Can you please try that ;)

I have the cliq, however I chose to not get 3G (so I bought full fare). So I have a few questions about the phone and the use of 3G / 2 G/Edge:

1 - is possible to disable completely the 2G / 3 G/Edge? I know you can switch between them, but are anyway just tell the phone to stop using them altogether since I'm not subbed to the service?

    2. when the update takes place, I guess we'll have to reconnect motoblur and etc, but if I don't have 3 G will I have motoblur connection problems after the update? Or he keeps the latest wifi settings so that it would connect to wifi to connect. When I first got my phone it was not a problem b/c I had 3G for the first month.

I hope that makes sense, thanks!

To stop all the data, I would like to download an application called APNDroid. He cut them all down. When you log on to blur you have 3G or WIFI doe this without getting a timeout error. During the process of setting up your Blur account, you can press the menu button and set up your wifi to work, this will connect you to Blur and your phone will be connected to the blur. If I were you I would be rethinking to do a data plan since you are really losing out on most of your main features of phones. It's your choice, however.

  • Question about the use of recovery disks Vista Bus on T500 with XP Pro downgraded

I searched to see if this has been addressed already and I don't see anything about it. I also looked through the Lenovo support site and could not find any documentation with specific information, that I'm looking. So, if all goes well, the people here will have an idea.

I have a T500 which was ordered with retired on WinXP Pro. It also came with a set of Vista Business (four discs) recovery disks. I plan to get my machine with Vista business records and down XP Pro, but I had a few questions.

    1. as it currently stands, I guess that the R & R partition that is on the HARD drive at this time restoring a WinXP Pro system if I start and get back with her. Is this correct?

    2. If I boot from the recovery disc Vista Business and use it for the recovery of the system, it creates a new partition 'Factory' R & R which would incorporate a Vista Business install?

I may be wrong on my assumptions and even after the start of the R & R partition, it is really the recovery disks that I choose to use that would dictate if I found myself with a XP or Vista Bus. System.

For what it's worth, I created a set of recovery disc R & R for the installation of WinXP Pro in case I need to revert to this version.

I hope that my question is logical and that someone out there has an answer for me.

    Thanks in advance!

    jskang, welcome to the forum,

    Yes on both counts.

Removal of all the hard drive recovery disks, create the service partition and then the system installs from the recovery with the flavor of windows partition, so that the discs are.

It was a good idea to create the XP discs.

  • Question about the size of my Virtual Machine

I'm on Fusion 3.1 (and Windows XP in Fusion on a MacBookPro Leopard). I put my Windows Virtual Machine to be 40 GB size but I just ran OmniDiskSweeper and it shows that the virtual machine takes 53 GB. I see the same size in the Finder.

Two questions: first, how is it possible for the virtual machine to limit growth, I gave him? Second, is there a way for me to downsize (safely). I did not quite in the virtual machine (mainly my installation of Windows) and a handful of programs so it's weird that she's so big.

    I have disabled Auto-protect.

I have two snapshots, one of when I first set up the virtual machine and one of very recently. I once had a bunch of other photos but I deleted them. I mention this because I read in another thread that "orphan" instant can hang out somewhere but I don't know where to look to see if this is the reason for the growth of my virtual machine.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

One thing I didn't get your last answer: if snapshots are not backup, and the creation of a snapshot causes the basic disk that you want to stop growing, which are good for snapshots? Or in other words, your response, it looks like I should stop creating snapshots, Yes?

In which case I should rely only on periodically manually save the virtual machine by copying in the Finder on an external drive?

What I said was "Snapshots are not backups in the traditional sense of the word and should not be relied upon as such either." However, using clichés absolutely has merit and value but how to use them effectively and efficiently seems to escape most of the users.  As a general rule, I treat a not different Virtual Machine and a physical Machine, then when it come to back up the user data and the ability to quickly restore the entire construction as well as user data.  I use snapshots mainly for short periods of time, and then either delete them when I don't want to lose changes made along the way, or if I go back to a previous snapshot.  For example, I can run on a given snapshot and say a single snapshot for a week and if all was well I'll delete it and take another or if I need to do something that could end up with bad results I'll take a snapshot to do what I do and if I have a problem just go back to the previous snapshot or the basic disk as appropriate.  The trick is user data constantly backed up out of the Virtual Machine itself, as well as at some point in time I never have to worry about the State of and reason for any data or instant and what action I might have to or want to take.

There are many other cases workers scenarios about how/when to use snapshots and it was just a bit of food for thought because I don't have time now to get deeper into it but the snapshots are a good thing to use as and when necessary, but do not count on them to replace the traditional methods/methodologies for backup/recovery of data user or any backup/restore system but use then as a another tool in the digital Toolbox.

  • Question about the use of the Satellite Pro A60 fan

    Hello

I intend to get a Satellite Pro A60 and I was wondering how much the fan turns on.

Could someone comment if the fan turns on when the machine is totally inactive, and how he lights up when the machine is used for word processing and surfing the web?

For example, when using normally does the fan turn on 1/10th of the time, or 1/2 time etc.?

    Thanks in advance,
    Pete.

    Hello

Sorry I can't give you specific information about the cooling fan. A60 is known to me. It's a very nice laptop. Cooling vent is in reverse I am a pretty that there is no background noise.

If you make the decision to buy it, look at what the capacity of the HARD drive is too high and that the DVD-ROM can burn a lot of different formats (DVD Super Multi drive).

Have lots of fun with it.

  • Questions about the use of an external audio card (PCMCIA or USB)

    Hi all

We know most or all W510 or other models of ThinkPad with Conexant HD SmartAudio 20585 are affected by the poor quality of the sound.

I have a few questions to ask, because I have not used or tried before external sound card.

1 - is the external PCMCIA / its USB, card work with speakers inside the machine?

    2. If the built-in speaker can work with external PCMCIA / USB sound card, is the sound quality and volume of music being improved?

    Thank you

    Peter

    Hi PeterTWJ,

    (1) would like to know what you mean by work with the built-in speakers? u means you want to use an external sound card to drive the speaker built into the laptop?

I want to say that external USB sound/PCMCIA card does the built-in speaker allows you only to speaker external drive.

I tried the smartaudio/volume control. You can set default 1...

  • Question about the use of the memory of the host and the VM memory limit.

Well, I have so vCenter PAHO running in my environment.  My host started to have a little low on available memory and the server of the OPs was the biggest pig, so I thought I could try to corral it a little.  Here is some info documents and help than I thought.

ESX host has pointed out, looking at the level of the ops vc server:

Host of Mem - MB: 7364

    Guest member - %: 3

With the virtual machine has highlighted:

Consommé of host MB memory: 7378

    Client active memory: 573 MB

So I understand these numbers as such: the memory of the host is the amount of physical memory that has been allocated to the vm, and the memory of comments is the amount of memory allocated is really active in the guest operating system being used by the process.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My solution was to set a limit on this virtual machine with 4 GB of memory, freeing up about 3 GB of memory to the host, but after the change is made, consumed host memory never came down.

What Miss me?  Thanks in advance for the help.

I understand that. Can you turn off this guy and turn on the power?

  • Question about the use of sharing with several pools of resources

The design of our environment vSphere has several pools of resources at the root, each series 'Normal' value stocks, and if the resources tab shows that each resource pool '% of the shares' value of 3%.

However, some resource pools have 50 + VM and others have only 1 or 2.

Is someone can confirm that this is wrong and that should have a pool of resources with more than VM have a proportionately higher value of action?  This assumes of course that all the resource pools are of same priority (be they makes me wonder why we use pools of resources at all... but that's another issue)

The reason why I ask is that the 'worst deal allocation' is for memory and CPU is much higher on the pools of resources with multiple virtual machines, so it's obviously something in the algorithm of resource allocation that is aware of the total number of virtual machines in the pools. Resource pools are defined as extensible and I'm assuming that this "worst case allocation" would go down considerably as the cluster approached his ability, but I wanted to check before starting to change things...

Welcome to the Forums - you are right to worry about this situation - check on http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2010/02/22/the-resource-pool-priority-pie-paradox/ for description - but don't worry Duncan also has a solution - http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2010/02/24/custom-shares-on-a-resource-pools-scripted/

  • Question about the volume on several virtual machines sharing

    Hey!

Try to use vmkfstools on Vi remote CLI, but he says that he is not recognized as an internal or external command... Is there an easy way to share data between several virtual machines? If so, how? Also if we are implementing raid 5 are we building our vitrual (windows 2008 Server) with the typical c: or d: drives? That is to say. You put the Windows Server 2008 on a separate virtual C: drive and data on a disk separate from virtual D:? Or is it no more? What about the Windows swap files? Must create us virtual drives, JUST for page files? Sorry I know this is a lot, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

    1. is there an easy way to share data between several

virtual machines? If so, how? A CIFSor NFS share would be preferable. Since I got you guess the VMS are mainly Windows you want to go with a CIFS share. You can run a virtual NAS appliance  (http://www.openfiler.com/community/download/)

Also if we are implementing raid 5 are we building

our vitrual Server (windows server 2008) with the typical c: or d: drives?

That is to say. You put the Windows Server 2008 on a separate virtual C: drive

and the data on a virtual disk from D:? Or does not everything

more? Yes design you virtual as your physical systems i.e. separate Boot/system information application. just build you VMs how you would with physical systems (especially true of SQL or Exchange).

What about the Windows swap files? We create virtual drives

Yet, ONLY for page files? Never did it for physical so no systems

  • Question about the use of secondary indexes in application

Hi, I'm a newbie to Berkeley DB. We use Berkeley DB for our application that has tables in the following structure.

    Key to value1 value2
    ------- --------- ----------
    1) E_ID-> E_Attr, A_ID - where A_ID is String for example. A_ID = A1; A2; A3
-where E_ID is unique but for example A1 or A2 may be part of multiple F_VITA say E1, E3, E5 etc.

So my question is that it is possible to create secondary indexes on individual items of Value2 (e.g., A1, A2 or A3)?

Another question, lets say we have two tables

    Key to value1 value2
    ------- --------- ----------
    2) X_ID-> X_Attr, E_ID

    E_ID-> E_Attr, A_ID - where A_ID is String for example. A_ID = A1; A2; A3

In this case, can create us E_ID as a secondary Index but with primary Table-> E_Attr, A_ID E_ID?

While X_ID given, we can get the chronogram, E_ID-> E_Attr, table allocation A_ID?

    Don't know if its possible.

    Thanks for reading.

    (1) when talking about data & Index, I was referring to READ ONLY BDB with no. UPDATES where you download entire files allows for example on a weekly basis. In this case, I believe that the data will be stored directly in the tree. It will not be stored in the transaction as such logs. This hypothesis is correct?

    # Storage I is nothing other than a transaction log. Read the white paper, that I mentioned.

    (2) and about the Garbage Collection operation, I meant BDB 'Cache éviction' algorithms. Sorry I have not communicated before.

I use an LRU algorithm. What do you need exactly to know, that you can not get the doc?

  • Question about the use of JavaScript in Managed Bean

    Hello

I have two questions... The reason for these questions is: we have a requirement that we have executed successfully using jsp and javascript. Now, we are unable to be implemented using the framework of the ADF. It is why would have a jsp with javascript page to reach the requirement.

    The condition is:
    1. to print a page. This page should be displayed with a customer bills. If the customer has 3 invoices (html content), these 3 bills needs displayed on the screen with a page break.
    2. because the page has a lot of data, certainly there will be a right of the page scroll bar to scroll down to see the data.
    3. now, the user clicks on the file--> print available on the browser / provided a "print" button with < af:showPrintablePageBehavior / >. When this happens, it is able to print the data that is displayed on the screen, not all 3 bills.

This kind of requirement we already implemented using legs force Framework(jsp, java script).

Now my question to you is:
how we can open a new window bowser using java from a managed bean script.
Let me know if you need more information about it.

  • Question about the use and connection of external mini HDD

I am the owner of a satellite A30 714, which has only 2 usb ports, and I just bought a mini hard drive (toshiba also), which requires the use of 2 usb ports, which means that I won't have any left port for mouse or something else.

The hard drive has an optional port of AC, but I can't find in the manual of the energy required to buy a compatible cable, so I'm asking for suggestions... can I use a multi usb hub or it will not provide enough energy? What is the cable AC adapter that I should try to find?
find a solution in the firewire port? (the computer has a port alternative mouse).
Can I install an additional usb port?

    can someone help?
    Helena

    Hello

The fact is that a single USB port provides about 500 my.
If HARD drive Manual requires the use of two ports USB together if the HARD drive needs more power than a USB port can provide.
Of course, you can try using a USB hub, but please check if the USB hub supports an external power supply. It is important.
I don't know where you can find the power supply for the external HARD drive. You said that it is a product of Toshiba. Well, maybe you can order the cable of the Toshiba service partner in your country.
But first of all I would like to ask the dealer who sold you this HARD drive.

I'm not sure the firewire port, because you need an adapter "USB to Firewrier '.
    But I can't find any.

  • Question about the use of the battery double on Portege M100

I recently had a M100 with a pair of slim-Bay batteries optionally. I have a question regarding the loading / unloading of sequence.
It seems that when loading main battery is charged 1 followed by the secondary battery (removable). This seems logical and fair enough.

However when it comes to the main battery appears to discharge 1 with secondary battery not passing it is 99% of the value.
I expect the machine to unload 1 secondary battery so that in the case of having 2 secondary batteries, you can redeem them on without any worries. Also when you then install the CD player, I also, then you max left in the internal main battery autonomy.

Are there settings to change the way in which my machine seems to work?

    Hi Max

I'm not a technician and cannot explain how it works exactly. All that I know is all of this is controlled by electronic power supply and the user has no influence on it, and as far as I know, there is no settings allows you to specify the energy consumption.

I agree with your opinion, but I think that there is nothing to do.

    Hello

I have replaced several hard drives on some laptops but I have never used any further papers of aluminum and I have no problem with the temperature.
In my opinion, it is not necessary.
The cooling modules must be able to manage the temperature of the HARD drive.
