• BSoD Packager for AIR

  I run v1 of the TCS on a Dell Optiplex 755 w/4 GB of RAM. When I run RoboHelp Packager for AIR on any output, repeat 'any result", after I review the output and exit links Manager, I get a BSoD. It is reliable and reproducible... 10 times until today trying to diagnose. Test has rulled RAM problem. Any advise?

  This looks like a bug of management of memory garbage collection bug.

  When I close the fresh AIR application before I get out the AIR conditioner, apparently attempts to AIR conditioner to clear the memory, concludes that is already clear and barfs with "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" every time.

  You see, I started with iPhoto and later began to use Aperture.  With iPhoto and Aperture, you can have ALL the metadata below the thumbnails, (nice).  Well, I put all my images descriptions in the keywords section because it didn't really matter, because these programs could show them as thumbnails.

  Now, I use this wonderful program of Photos and I found out that it will ONLY show the title of"the image in the thumbnails.  I've got on 30 000 images with keywords but no title.  I want to move / copy the text in the keywords section in the section of the title. I'm not a computer scientist, I guess that my skills are in average.  But I can follow directions.

  I have a LARGE amount of files music .m4a in a storage drive stand alone that I downloaded from an old Apple computer have more possession of. I can't understand how to enter these data into my old Emachines computer Windows Vista run the Media Player program. I tried to copy a few files m4a manually in the file Media Player Music folder, but they do not play. I'm not really all that computer savvy and know only the basics, I need to use my computer really. Can you give me some step by step instructions how to get these converted files or whatever it is I need to do to get them to play and to integrate properly into my library if it is possible? If this isn't the case, I'll have to go out and buy a new Apple computer for my 60 GB music collection. In the past, that I've never had no real problem shooting files to leave this computer based Vista and convert these files to my old computers Apple Itunes Player. So what's the problem with your system of guys that done anyway this such a pain in the butt? I would really like to understand what exactly is happening with this issue? It's very frustrating for me. I'm a finish Carpenter not a computer programmer. Such things should not be so difficult for someone like me to understand. All I intend to buy a really nice computer, probably in the summer and was considering a Microsoft based computer. But if this kind of problem will be spread with Microsoft products, so maybe I should reconsider. help you can offer to alleviate this problem will be greatly appreciated.

  According to research on the Internet, Windows Media Player, atleast this is version 11 (included in Windows Vista and available for Windows XP SP2 +) cannot play Apple loseless type .m4a audio files without having to install any codecs.

  If you want to use Windows Media Player, you can follow the instructions mentioned here to install the necessary codecs and plugins.

  (In the related instructions above, in the first step talks about codecs - your .m4a files are files Apple loseless then follow the party referred to in the first stage about Apple loseless .m4a)

  Personally, I prefer using alternatives to Windows Media Player rather than installing codec packs.

  If you don't want to install codecs, download no matter what media player from "programs that open. M4A files"- Windows category list on this page.

  If you use a spare player - VLC Media Player is my choice.

Is there anyway to add the files selected in the recent menu of the application.   There is a selection list of the CPU (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) when creating VM, now my question is this amount of processor or number of processor?

  For example if I choose 5, then it means I selected 5 Fifth number of the processor or processors?

  This selection will be the number of vCPU, you give to your guests.  My suggestion would be to start with 1 vCPU and see how is the performance.

• Cannot export release build for AIR app...

  Flash Builder 4.7 won't let me export a release build for AIR applications to all the...

  All started when I wanted to make some changes to an old AIR application.  Could not even run in the debugger, so I updated the AIR SDK (using instructions available here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-builder/kb/overlay-air-sdk-flash-builder.html and here: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/how-overlay-air-sdk-flex-sdk.html )

  So after doing all this and a few other changes, I finally got my AIR application to run the debugger in Flash Builder 4.7.  The changes I wanted to make, and then tried to export Release Build...  Kept giving me an error "Incorrect password for this certificate" every time that I tried it - but she would never let me enter a password.  I went to the project. Release Build, export and on the first screen, I have to click on 'Next' and he jumped directly to the compilation, jumping on the screen where you are supposed to be able to enter the password and certificate information.

  Thought that maybe because it was an old AIR project, which was causing the problem.  So I started a new project AIR - one very simple with just a < s:Label > inside a < s:WindowedApplication >.  Project | Properties | Flash Builder package and created a brand new self-signed certificate (which seemed to work) but once again trying to export release build, he wouldn't let me get to the screen where you enter the password.  By clicking 'Next' in the first screen on project | Export Release Build jumps just directly to the compilation and (of course) it gives me the error of Incorrect password, because he never gave me a chance to enter the password.

  So what is happening here?  Why not export commercial versions for AIR projects?  It's extremely frustrating - Flash Builder 4.6 never gave me problems.  What can I do to fix the Flash Builder 4.7 so it does not work with AIR projects?

  Was having the same problem and totally by chance (with a mix of frustration) I went to move the window and accidentally resized it... and low and behold the rest of the content window popped up as if she had a label 'hidden' on this subject... a collueges had the same problem on a windows and mac machine and it was resolved in the same way... I hope this helps someone...

• FMS 3 Questions for live video conferencing

  We have a few basic questions for installation of the server (windows 2003/FMS3) for an applicationt of videoconference with max 10 rooms for 3 persons x room remote connection:
  (1) is there an upgrade for components optimized for FMS3 fms? If this is not the case, should go us with the 'old'?
  (2) is there a way to detect the client bandwidth and latency and optimize Audio/video based on that basis by customer?
  (3) what we have hight latency problems which are not acceptable for video conferencing (5-10 sec): is there a way to optimize the configuration of the server for that? Is it possible to have the quality of Service that is configured on the network as for Voip applications?
  (4) I'we read in the manual that 44 hz encoding is faster than lower rates for audio? I expected the opposite. As the audio is more important for our system is a way to optimize that?
  We have large echoes (also with echo to reduce settings) and poor quality. Any way to improve this?
  
  

  I'll try to answer a couple of these...

  (1) the current components of the FMS works FMS3, but some features (such as redirection) are supported only in the last component of reading. If everything works fine for your application, so don't think that you need to upgrade from.

  (2) FMS3 has the same capabilities of detection of bandwidth based on a script like FMS2, but also a 'native' bandwidth detection feature new and more effective. Discover the FMS3 live docs for how to use this feature. Latecny detection is not supported natively, but you can easily write SSAS to measure time and back a few seconds precision.

  (3) Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done on the server to overcome high-latency link. Real-time communications will always be 'trolling' on this type of connection. (Have you ever watched a satellite live feed on TV?)

  (4) I have no specific details on the speed of encoding for different sampling rates, so I won't comment on that. I will say that, in general, encoding introduced no significant latency (unless your client happens to have a * very * slow processor). The latency of the network and the network congestion that won't do more harm. For the best experience, try to keep the total flow of water as low as possible and don't forget to use bandwidth detection, etc. to ensure that you are never exceeding the features of the client connection.

• SQL for the synchronous question of AIR vs. asynchronous

  I've implemented a SQLite database that will be processing up to 150 000 lines at the same time.  I use parametized queries, wrapped in a transaction, it should be fast enough. I use asynchronous methods.

  I put the motions and managed to get a static test of query in the database using the parameters.  Wahooo!

  However, now I did it dynamic to receive bulk data, I get the error:

  "Operation could not be performed SQLStatement.executing is true.

  I wonder if anyone can

  (a) suggest that synchronous may be a better option

  or

  (b) guide me as to what order the functions and event listeners would fix my follows established...

  THE PROCESS:

  -J' have a lot of file names in an array, that need to be tweaked before thrown into the database

  -J' set up the sql (leg work done earlier) connection, the query statement, and then start a transaction:

  I think the problem is that the loop sends the next object to prepareParameters() until the database has finished executing the last insert statement.

  I tried to configure a listener for results to try to make Flash do not return to the loop until the listener received something, but I get the same error.

  My first thought was "Hey, shouldn't Flash wait until after insertStmt.execute ();" has finished before returning to the loop that calls its function? But maybe this happens in synchronous treatment?

  Before I head to a few races a couple quick notes.

  If you just want a quick number of items affected in the database across all executions altogether (although SQLConnection is maintained), you can use this property:

  To be more practical, SQLResult can be used on a SQLStatement instance after it is over (after the RESULT event). If you do not want to use it (as in the example above) in the manager function, _runQuery. The SQLEvent sent to method (apart from the first _runQuery (null)) will contain a reference to the SQLStatement instance that has been run. You can see me access it explicitly to remove the handler from the success of it as follows:

  Which is simply check to see if I have a valid (non-null) event sent to the method and if yes I use it to remove the handler. I could use a weak reference in the event handler, but on devices, I would be extremely explicit in removing all memory that I absolutely is useless as soon as possible.

  Keep in mind, it's TO-achieve, not a total. This allows you to review the results of each "single" execute() that you are running. You can search for questions or to check the validity of the data, etc., on each function execute(). If you don't really care that then just check the _sqlConn.totalChanges for one number for everything that moved the database runs.

  Don't forget to close the connection of _sqlConn after all function execute() statements look the next time you run queries, it resets the totalChanges. Also on something like a DELETION * a SQLResult returned 0 results. It is mentioned in the documentation, read paragraph 3 on the addition of a 'WHERE 1 = 1' just to get results to fill:

• A few questions for the first blackberry development

  First of all, my apologies for this being placed in the Java section, it seemed, the nearest section of what it is, but please move if need be.

  We have an application in development for the iOS platform that uses some geolocation and Web services.  We believe that we should have a version for the blackberry also platform, so we're looking in this evolution.  However, not being not to developers or users of blackberry, the different options for creating an application are quite overwhelming.  My questions are the following:

  (a) what language (Java?) is the most compatible?  Ideally, we would like to write the backend once, don't have to change the interface for devices of the curve through to the new playbook.  Java is also based on all of these devices?  None of us have any idea of Adobe Air, this is probably out of the question.

  (b) what are the operating systems are supported by what?  The curve I picked up seems to have Blackberry OS5 on it.  All operating systems support Java everything too, and whose support wifi location and cell tower map (the curve does not have a GPS unit).

  (c) I understand that during the development in Java there is a blackberry UI api, that's fine.  However, what version of Java is supported?  Is - this SE6, or we are talking about mobile Java here?

  (d) distribute the Apps.  The Blackberry App World seems to be the best route.  Do most people use?  It seems that the Blackberry is not restricted like iOS devices in how applications can be distributed.  Is there any other App stores (e.g. Amazon for Android?).  I guess it would be silly not not to enumerate the BB App World.

  It is a really difficult game of questions.

  (a) Yes is the short answer.

  The long answer involves noting that the PlayBook does not directly support Java, and development platforms only available to this end are currently Adobe Air and Web works.  I can't give you a good explanation, since I dabbled only in them, but in summary,

  (a) with Web works you are essentially creating a Web application using HTML and JavaScript, with some JavaScript interfaces to the native operating system

  (b) air seems to me be in another development environment where screens and treatment are defined in a "Scripting" language that runs on the device.

  Work Web development is possible on the current BlackBerry phones as well, although I have no idea how compatible the two are - in other words how much you would have to change to a PlayBook Web app works works on the Palm and vice versa.

  I suggest you ask a similar question in the forums for these two platforms and see what they say.

  Anyway, there is a train of thought that phones current based Java will stop at some point, and phones will become based QNX, as PB.  So right now, if you want to learn something, then Web works.  But the works Web will be able to do what you want?  I don't know, but I don't know that Java is.

  But whatever the customer, you should be able to write the backend once.  Everything should speak http towards it.

  (b) there is not a BONE by device. Most devices come out with only one level and can be upgraded, usually at the next big release.

  OS 5.0 in theory supports the location of the cell tower.  I say in theory because I never had to work in the United Kingdom.  But I have not tried very hard.  In my view, WiFi is available in the OS 6.0.

  (c) blackBerry support J2ME, with a significant number of extensions.  Think of it as Java 1.4 without all the useful bits, but the then RIM tried to add their useful in bits.

  (d) cannot speak for others, but BB App World is all I use.  Tried another one and didn't get anywhere.  YMMV.

  some basic questions that I couldn't easily find the answers to:

  (1) the application of air for the playbook should be a project mobile flex?

  (2) are supported for the flex charts playbook or not?

  (3) the main file must be a file of .as actionscript under the getting started guide, or can it be a mxml file?

  use an application windowed right now and it works fine, so I don't know what the benefits or disadvantages or stipulations are around that.

  In response to #1, the QNX are 'similar' to the regular controls Flex/Air, but they are not very mature and behavior didn't is not a wait sometimes if you have developed in Flex for a number of years.  If you are newer to Flex, you probably don't know the difference.  It's still a version beta API, so either the API:

  (1) not implemented

  (2) not fully implemented

  (3) not implemented as planned

  (4) odd API approach or architecture (odd = not Flex like)

  That said, a cunning person can get a very good app using AS and controls QNX.  Just be prepared to work around some problems.  If your application is simple enough (not too many controls), so it's not too bad.  But you will find you scratch your head and ask "why in the heck did do that?

  I can tell you one thing, if this forum was not so active, I think there would be much less ready applications for PB.
