• adpatch: Question about studies required patches already installed

  Looking for best practices advice here. I need to install a patch that has prior tasks and specified necessary studies. One of the post-requis patch is already installed. What is the general direction here, re - install the patch post required after installing the required components and the patch itself?

  I have install 22222, down from the version of the file 12.0.1111.1 aaaaa<>

  This file will not be overwritten as you already have the new version of the file that is installed on your system. adpatch compares the version of the fix and will replace it if a newer version is included in the hotfix only.

  1 > why we need to give words of past SYSTEM & applications while applying a patch?

  2 > why we need database is in place and run the application of a fix?

  3 > if we only 'C' driver file in a patch, is this database that is required in operating mode? Why?

  1. because adpatch must connect to these patterns first and validate before applying the patch driver. Connect to these schemes is required to process jobs/missions by the patch file of the driver.

  2. for the same reason above. adpatch must update the database objects, definition of load, store the correction information... etc.

  3. Yes, you always the basis of data either to the top. Although the 'C' driver file will be copy of the files on the filesystem only, adpatch has yet to update the tables on this patch driver (as when the driver patch has been applied, patch the driver name,... etc).

• Adpatch function of e-mail notification does not work

  Hi all
  
  I'm about to apply a huge patch (12.1.1 patch) which will have at least 12 hours. When I was testing this before that I have answered the question about 'Yes' email notification and added my email address, but for some reason adpatch did not send email when a worker failed.
  
  How can I study the origin of this problem? Where adpatch reads information from the SMTP server of?

  You must configure the e-mail of the BONE - test telnet SMTP to perform according to them (how to perform a significant Telnet SMTP test to troubleshoot Java Mailer to Send Notifications by e-mail [753845.1 ID]). If you can send an e-mail message from the operating system, you should be able to receive emails from adpatch session.

  I'm reviewing the Readme for some patches that I can make a request to an EBS R12 environment.
  
  The Readme is said to apply the patch mode preinstall.
  
  Reading that I did on adpatch and preinstall mode it seems that you would normally use preinstall mode for example, when you upgrade 11i to R12.
  
  It seems that each fix run in mode of preinstallation is staged rather than applied, and applied only once the upgrade is complete. I have read the documentation correctly?
  
  My question is, if I'm already on an environment of R12 must I install these patches in mode preinstall as says the Readme or as usual "mode of preinstallation = n '?

  Many of the patches say in the Readme file to install as a preinstall = y before moving on to R12.

  I think that running as the preinstallation patches = y will only step patches and install them not unless we are improving, but we're not modernize as we are already to the R12!

  You are right, but this is not applicable to all the patches, so please, check out the patch README file and see if it says anything on do not apply the patch in the instance of R12.

  I apply the #8947667 patch to fix a problem.
  I have a few questions about reading me this patch:
  
  1. it says to use admsi.pl if im not using adpatch to install this patch?
  2. in the post-installation, it says check MoS #145837.1 and apply pre - req.
  In the table below, I do not see r12.1.1, so I guess I have not all the patches to be applied?
  
  Clarification, I do the follow-up in that order?
  Apply patch #8947667
  Run DataInstall
  Run hrglobal.drv

  Run 'admsi.pl' to generate your specific instance installation instruction. You should always use adpatch to apply this hotfix.

  Mainly, you need to take maintenance mode for can apply the patch to your system. But there are several option for can apply the patch as option /hotpatch. Wiht /hotpatch option you can apply the patch while your system is running.

• reclassification of jinitiator in SUN JRE and question about Workflow

  I have a couple of questions really related to the workflow, then maybe wrong forum, but I'll start here.
  I'm upgrading of our 11.5.10.2 configuration to use jinitiator to SUN JRE and have a few questions.
  
  1. one of the patches I must apply '3865683' a ' step 11, run the program simultaneous Workflow Directory service Validation user/role. (Required) ".
  -problem is I don't know much about WF and don't really know what that means or what options to provide
  
  2. in my Test environment, which is a clone of Prod my shippers Notification and Service components are falling and yet once, I work in the how to correct this.
  I don't know if it's the result of my clone process or the upgrade steps that I lived to reach from jinitiator SUN JRE.
  So my concern is when I do this prod if it interrupts the flow of work or if it is simply due to the clone process.

  The simple answer and support is 'no '. 6863618 patch is a patch of request (must be applied using adpatch), and it will update the files of application/database layer, in order to restore the database files only is not enough because it would make your incompatible application with the database.

  I have a question about the adpatch log file, where you can read:
  
  «Cause: error trying to read the metadata of the file (10.1.2) $ORACLE_HOME / < path/to/some/file.jar >: no entry metadata META-INF/JRIMETA.» DAT found. »
  
  I know that the JRIMETA. DAT file is located in $JAVA_TOP/META-INF/JRIMETA. DAT (adpatch save it at the beginning of the patch).
  
  When looking on Metalink, the only move that is related to my question concerns the apps 11.5.9. (312594.1) I know that this is not really related to the question I have, but it still says:
  «warnings are because the file in question has not created by JRI, so therefore does not contain a META-INF/JRIMETA.» DAT entry. »
  
  Can I assume that we have the same situation?
  Can I safely ignore these warning?

• Question of cloning for SSD upgrade on 12 Macbook Pro

  Previously, I did an upgrade to SSD on my Macbook Air to 2012 according to the instructions of JetDrive transcend. Basically connection via USB 3 and using Mac OS X to clear (and format) disc utilities new SSD, then restore again SSD and then remove the original 128 GB SSD and insert the new 480 GB SSD.  For about a month and so far without problem.

  Now I'm trying to 2012 Macbook upgrade my Pro partner (on 10.11.6).  I got a Crucial SSD MX300 to replace his HARD drive.  Crucial comes with (or recommend) Acronis software.  And a lot of the messages of the forum recommend Carbon Copy Clone.

  My question is if I can use the same method for the cloning of the HD as my Macbook Air (just restore disk of Mac OS X utilities)?  This time, I'm upgrading HARD drive and I don't know if something is different.  At the same time, if I got lucky the first time, I don't not ruin Macbook Pro my spouse this time.

  Yes, you can use disk utility to clone your MBP wives, but unlike CCC, it will not clone the recovery and Partition.

• Question about resolution movie downloads

  If I buy a movie at a certain resolution (780p for example), but I want more later re - download at a higher or lower resolution (SD or 1080 p), can I do so and how?

  Same question perhaps for music. Some of my songs have been bought before the latest Apple codecs.
