Question of Macbook Pro OS beginning 2011.

I have an early 2011, Macbook Pro, Mac OS x, Version 10.7.5, with 4 GB of memory.  I've never upgraded to another operating system and want to know if I have to and if my Mac can support the El Capitan?  Thank you.

Larkin108

Hey Larkin 108,

From the information provided, you can switch to the latest version of our operating system, OS X El Capitan, if you wish.   Before you do, make sure that the third-party hardware and software that you use all the time are compatible with OS X 10.11.3.  In addition, be sure to back up your computer via Time Machine before making any big changes to your system.

  • Wich USB 3.0 / 3.1 PCMCIA USB controller works best in a macbook pro 17 "early 2011?

    Hi people,

why I had this idea before?

I have an available PCMCIA slot in my macbook pro and would therefore be an opportunity to put in a USB 3.0 or (if already available) a 3.1 USB controller card.

... but: one who works best with EL CAPITAN? and with the SIERRA to come?

did someone knows with this interesting topic?

    This product solves the problem:

    I bought a controller card - 3.0 - nano tech on eBay: http://www.ebay.de/itm/262393441049

It works very well plug & play under sierra on a macbook pro in early 2011.

but nowhere, a controller 3.1 must be found.

  • Questions about Macbook Pro mid 2012 (Non-retine)

    Hi all

I think to buy my second MacBook.

Currently, I have a MacBook Air mid 2013.

It's screen/flash storage is a little on the small side for me.

Then I watched www.apple.com/benl and sought an Apple laptop that fits my needs.

And I fell on the MacBook Pro Non-retine (bottom of the page for MacBook Pro)

    So my questions are:

Estimated life: it will last at least 2-3 years with what I'll do with it. (Read below for my needs)

It will be always fast enough, there is no need to be fast, but the average speed is necessary (startup time doesn't really matter unless it's longer than 5 minutes).

How long he will be out of date it will get most recent OS X updates for couple preferably 2-3 years.

Is it possible to perform the following operations on this MacBook Pro (my needs):

Some games like: GTA V (on lowest settings), Borderlands, Minecraft, Euro Truck Simulator 2,... (GTA V is working on my MacBook Air but must run from external HARD disk).

    Run Windows 7 in BootCamp.

    Surf the web

    Watch YouTube videos in 1080 p/720 p

    Basic PhotoShop

I'm not going to do things:

    Edit video.

    Record Gameplay videos.

    Should what configuration I:

Cheaper, configuration of stock or choose for Core i7 and 8 GB of RAM I don't need an SSD (it's small, expensive).

I "need" core i7 and 8 GB of RAM or only 8 GB of RAM or only Core i7, just stock or stock with 8 GB of RAM.

    Thanks in advance!

You can watch in Macs, refurbished Apple . These are like new only to an economy and you might find a slightly more than the current date to run Windows 7 in Bootcamp. A mid-2012 will take place in Windows 7 in Bootcamp. I bought 3 Mac (Mac Mini, 2 - MBP retinas) in the past and have never had a problem. They carry the same warranty that any new Mac. I think that any Mac you buy is easily past 2-3 years with what you want to run.

In the list of the things you mentioned, if you get a 2015 model, you will not be able to run Windows 7 in Bootcamp. You pouvez run it in a Virtual Machine like Parallels Desktop 11. I have a retinal model of 2015 and Bootcamp can only setup for Windows 8 and more. So, I run Windows 7 and 10 in a VM using Parallels Desktop. Personally, I would not run any graphics intensive games on your laptop, but you certainly can if you don't mind hearing that run the fans.

Certainly, 8 GB of RAM (minimum) with a 256 GB or larger SSD drive. You can do what others are doing and future proof your Mac by getting 16 GB or RAM. Current models have bus PCIe for flash storage and it's fast! I had a late 2012 with flash SATA storage retina and my current 2015 beginning with PCIe is much faster. Insofar as an Intel i5 or i7, it's really you. With what you mentioned, the i7 would probably be a good choice.

  • Intend to upgrade HARD + SSD Macbook Pro drive end 2011

Hope you guys can help me with this simple question (if any):

I plan go my Macbook Pro 13 inch end of 2011 this system of 'double disc' using the current HARD drive and a new SSD. I use OS X El Capitan.
My plan is to take all my important files on the current 500 GB external HARD Drive USB drive and delete EVERYTHING ELSE. There is no problem.

Then I open the computer, remove the HARD drive and the optical drive. I'll replace it with my new MAIN hard drive SSD HARD drive and put the HARD drive in courses where the optical drive was (with an adapter to fit) to be a 'secondary drive' where I store my photos, movies, videos, etc.

When everything is back in place, my question is: if I turn on my MBP with cmd + R pushed down, the normal OS X Utilities screen will appear and I would like to reinstall OS X for this new SSD?

Why not let the operating system installed on the HARD disk, since that will give you a backup of boot problems disk? As long as you clear the Macintosh HD partition and not the HARD whole, the volume of recovery disk should remain intact and usable.

  • MacBook Pro 15 "Earlier 2011: is - this compatible with 16 GB of ram?"

I am an owner of a memory of ram i7 processor of Earlier 2011 15 inch Macbook Pro with 4 GB (2x2gb).
    I want to upgrade to 16 GB, 2 x Kingston DDR3 1333 mhz KTA-MB1333 8 GB memory.
The question is: are my motherboard, processor and SO ready to make full use of this ram memory? Or should I go with 2 x 4 GB instead?
Additional advice will be accepted with gratitude. Thank you!

PS: I'm under El Capitan already.

Assuming that you are using this model special, you can improve it up to 16 GB of RAM. Please note that Apple supports only 8 GB of RAM, so apart from that upgrades are made at your own risk.

The screenshot appears, but according to your description, this is clearly a hardware problem, or bad memory or a defect logic board. If you have replaced the memory modules with spare parts, please reinstall the original memory and see if there is an improvement. Otherwise, an appointment 'Genius' on an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

Of these two I'd certainly crucial that another option would be OWC - https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_13 33MHz_SDRAM

I used OWC modules in my late-2008 MacBook Pro (8 GB) for several years now without a single problem.

  • SSD suddenly slow down the MacBook Pro 13 "early 2011

    Hey guys,.
I bought my MacBook Pro with two hard drives. SSD in the main slot and HDD CD-Rom instead. It works incredible fast without any problem since more than six months, and suddenly my Mac became super slow for no reason. I try with a clean install of Maveriks, Lion, Yosemite and Capitan on ssd cleaned and formatted, but the rest of the problem. Need more than 3 to 5 minutes only to get the log on screen (before the time of full reboot was 23 seconds) and if I'm lucky around 10-30 min to load the hole with files systems. I tried with the SSD on my other laptop and it works great, I remove the other hhd, changing all the discs in all possible combinations, and the problem is still there. Anyone with the same problem or solution for this? I really need help to solve this problem because looks like * now. I use applications like photoshop, ableton, traktor and other for audio and video processing and I need my mac to be fast as if it was.

  • Juice spilled under MacBook pro 13 "early 2011 a1278 and he died. Can I still save it.

at about 19:00 2 days ago, I spilled juice on my MacBook, and I freaked out so I deleted for awhile and then hurried to dry off the coast. I then continued turning power on and off until it dies eventually completely. I know now that all the mistakes I made so what I did after he died was I opened the back and let dry. After more research I found some guides on how to clean the contents of the folder correctly, but all the stores have already closed at that time so I waited until the next day to buy all the tools and denatured alcohol and proceeded to disassemble the product and clean following the guide. I then waited until about 2 hours before now to go up the MacBook and the battery showed 1 green light but nothing else has worked, not even the light on the charger lights up. I opened and found that a partbof map logic heated very quickly when I plug the charger. So my main question is whether or not my MacBook still salgeavable or not. Help, please.

Otherwise, some sounds from the old version of GarageBand may be missing in the new Mac.

But you can simply copy the GarageBand project on a thumb drive or an external drive with enough storage and copy them on.  Or use your network - put the songs in the Public folder on the old Mac and from there copy them to your music on the recent Mac folder.
