Question of redundancy WLC

Hello community,

I have a question about the function of redundancy for both WLC 2106. We have installed on a client 2106 and 6 AP site 2 WLC primary and backup WLC works very well. No customer asks the question if there is an option to copy the guest user of wlan access from the PDC to the backup controller? The entry hall activates a new user on the main controller and if the primary controller fails, so the user did not have access to the WLAN comments.

Any ideas?

Thanks for help.

René

You can read this question a little differently...

What, in my view, is mentioned, is that a user GUEST account is enabled on the PDC. When the primary contoller fails to the needs of the user to reauthenicate. If that is the question.

You must either add comments on both controllers OR purchase WCS and WCS will push the guest on both controllers for you account...

    Hi all

    Document Oracle ASM NORMAL QUESTION of REDUNDANCY [1480954.1 ID] says the statement, I find it difficult to understand the line which is marked in italics below.

    To determine the appropriate size of a diskgroup which is protected with redundancy of ASM, sufficient free space must exist in the diskgroup
    so that when a drive goes down, it can automatically rebuild the contents of the drive failed on another drive in the diskgroup. The database should stay online if sufficient space is available
    . The amount of space required to ensure ASM can restore redundancy if there is no disc is in the REQUIRED_MIRROR_FREE_MB column in the view V$ ASM_DISKGROUP. The amount of free space that can be used safely in a disk group, taking into account, mirroring and still be able to restore redundancy after a drive failure is in the USABLE_FILE_MB column in the view V$ ASM_DISKGROUP. USABLE_FILE_MB must always be greater than zero. If USABLE_FILE_MB falls below zero, most records should be added to the disk group.

    DOUBT: why what he have reconstitute the content of the disc failed on another drive in the diskgroup when scopes in mirror and I do not understand when the disc itself is failed how they can access it and rebuild its contents to another drive.

    Concerning

    DOUBT: why need restore the contents of the drive failed on another drive in the diskgroup when there mirrored scopes

    because the data on the failed drive is not more in the opposite direction (no additional copies) and to ensure a level of normal redundancy, we'll build a new mirror copy of data

    I do not understand when the disc itself broke down how they can access it and rebuild its contents to another drive.

    data always available, mirrored

    to explain it simply:

    everything is stored with 2 copies (original + mirror)
    When 1 is lost, a new copy will be rebuilt among others the 1, so there will be 2 copies again

  • questions about 2100 wlc and lwap connection

    Hello

    I have a few questions, I hope you can answer me.

    In fact, I have a controller connected to 3 Lwap 2100, and they are connected to the WCS. they have a static IP address.

    The distance between each point of access to more than 30 meters.

    1. the distance between the access points affect the accuracy or the stream. How can I calculate this

    2. because the APs use a static IP address, each customer should I connect to the network to add a static ip address? can I do the APs detect clients dynamically?

    I have lwapp reset guide, guide WCS configuration and configuration guide for WLC. If you have more documents or more pls share with me.

    Yamani

    Hello Ahmed,.

    Yes the distance between AP affect the wireless signal.

    to determine the best location of AP and the distance between them, as the site survey is necessary with the expert of the spectrum wireless or airmagnat...

    You can check the following links for design and RF management

    1) http://tools.cisco.com/squish/1Ea09

    2) http://tools.cisco.com/squish/51a58

    for other questions about DHCP, it is not a must that customer use static IP, you can always configure them with DHCP.

    as an extenal DHCP (like windows server), or on the WLC himself (to the title of controller-> > internal DHCP tab).

  • question about redundancy and failover from one site to tunnel

    First, I create the underside of crypto card,

    crypto IPSec_map 10 card matches the address encrypt-acl
    card crypto IPSec_map 10 set peer 209.165.201.1

    card crypto IPSec_map 10 the transform-set RIGHT value

    card crypto IPSec_map 10 the value reverse-road

    Then I set up a 2nd card statement, corresponding to the same ACL.

    crypto IPSec_map 20 card matches the address encrypt-acl
    card crypto IPSec_map 20 set peer 23.10.10.10

    card crypto IPSec_map 20 set transform-set RIGHT

    card crypto IPSec_map 20 set reverse-road

    My first question is - since Cryptography cards are processed in order, does that mean the first tunnel VPN (map 10) will always be used if its place?

    If so, what happens when the 209.165.201.1 remote peer becomes unreachable? is the tunnel of the 23.10.10.10 peer back automatically?

    What is the best way to reach a VPN site-to-site main and secondary where 209.165.201.1 primary school and 23.10.10.10 is backup and appears only when the primary is down?

    Thank you

    Hello

    As you mentioned that the Cryptography cards are processed in the order.

    If two cryptographic cards have the same "interesting" traffic then the second card encryption is never used (first crypto card is used).

    The best way to get a redundancy is to do the following:

    crypto IPSec_map 10 card matches the address encrypt-acl
    card crypto IPSec_map 10 set peer 209.165.201.1 23.10.10.10

    card crypto IPSec_map 10 the transform-set RIGHT value

    card crypto IPSec_map 10 the value reverse-road

    Note in the example above that you have defined an instance unique card crypto with two counterparts. The first pair will try first and if not answered, the second peer will be used as a backup.

    It will be useful.

  • Question of redundancy VPN l2l using 2811 as endpoint devices

    I have a new implementation of VPN L2L passes using two 2811 s than VPN terminal devices. I'll try to use the HSRP address between the public interfaces of both routers as VPN peer address. The problem that I found during the test is that the tunnel will become active and debugs watch the HSRP address as an invalid address to form the tunnel. Have a work-around, or a better plan for redundancy on peering address using similar devices? Thanks in advance.

  • question of redundency/design interface

    Sorry if this is a stupid question. I went through the forum and a bunch of google searches with no joy.

    I have:

    PIX-active - switch-a

    | ||

    PIX - fo - b switch

    unlikely, I know, but is it possible to configure the network/pix to take account of the active pix & switchb down?

    I was thinking something like backup cmd on IOS, to connect to a network adapter of each pix for both switches.

    Thanks for the research.

    Not a stupid question, but do not forget this: the commercially feasible thing to do when network solutions tolerant for lack of construction is to eliminate the SPFS (single points of failure). In this design, you have no single point of failure. Trying to limit to two points of failure will be very complex to predict behavior impossible. My advice is to move to other areas of your network where you have surely SPFS.  ;)

  • Basic question on redundancy as the retention policy enforcement

    DB version: 11 g

    I intend to implement a differential incremental backup of my database. My strategy is
    Sunday -->     Level 0 backup
    Monday -->     Level 1 backup
    Tuesday-->     Level 1 backup
    Wednesday-->     Level 1 backup
    Thursday-->     Level 1 backup
    Friday-->     Level 1 backup
    Saturday-->      Level 1 backup

    Again, the new weekly backup cycle starts
    Sunday -->     Level 0 backup
    Monday -->     Level 1 backup
    .
    .
    Set on the Recovery window retention policy
    ==========================

    I understand that recovery window retention policy: If I set up
    'CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 7 DAYS;'
    This means only these backups that are older than 7 days will be reported as obsolete when executing the command "remove obsolete.

    Retention set on redundancy policy
    =============================

    But I'm a little confused about the retention set to redundancy policy:

    Does
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 3;
    say that you keep 3 copies of backups on different locations on disk? How does this fit with my above mentioned incremental backup strategy?

    REDUNDANCY is 'Keep' copies

    The BACKUP is 'Create' copies of

    Copies which exceed the requirement of REDUNDANCY become OBSOLETE.

  • A WLC headquarters and Remote Site

    Hello

    I have a question for the WLC remote deployment.

    For the moment, we have the following design:

    Head office

    -Network 192.168.49.0/24

    -WLC 4402 Version 4.2.61.0

    -3 x LAP1252

    -LWAPP layer 3

    -Wep SSID

    -Wpa SSID

    -Windows PDC with Active Directory, DHCP server and data storage local

    -ACS Version 3.2 for RADIUS and RADIUS authentication--> external DB to Active Directory

    Remote site

    -Network 192.168.50.0/24

    -2 x LAP1252

    -Wep SSID

    -Wpa SSID

    -Windows PDC with Active Directory, DHCP server and data storage local

    -ACS Version 3.2 for RADIUS and RADIUS authentication--> external DB to Active Directory

    Connection between the seat and the Remote Site

    -2 Mbit ADSL

    The problem is, wireless on the remote site clients get an IP DHCP 192.168.49.0/24 Beach headquarters. Users at the remote site

    most of the time only using the local database server in the remote offices. With the actual design connection ADSL 2 Mbit passes traffic hole the

    WLC at Headquarters and at the remote site. It works but it is not that efficient.

    The problem could be solved with HREAP, but what I think is, that it is not possible to have the same SSID to Headquarters and remote site with different VLAN.

    How can I achieve this, the clients at the remote site to connect to the same SSID (wep or wpa), get an ip address from the remote site (192.168.50.0) DHCP server

    and the traffic is enabled locally.

    I hope that you understand what is the problem.

    Thank you in advance for your help!

    Yes, putting the HREAP remote access point mode will allow the WLAN even to be available on the access point but the traffic could tip locally to the AP instead of in the tunnel to the controller. After the AP mode HREAP you re so what VLAN you want traffic for each WLAN to immerse on for this AP.

  • Two WLC 5508 anchor high availability

    Hello.

    It is possible use 2 WLC 5508 EN HOW to ANCHOR in an active scenario?.

    For example, if a WLC down the service, another Dungeon provide service to customers of anchor?

    At the moment we have just a WLC 5508 anchor mode. What do I have to configure high availability of the ANCHOR.

    Thank you very much!!!

    You have redundant WLC as anchor points, but if an anchor fails, the user must reconnect.

    There is a feature on the WLC HA, but it is mainly for foreigners redundancy WLC anchor no redundancy. With guest several anchors overseas WLC balance the load between the two. You will not be able to put a primary or backup.

  • WLC can communicate with light AP through Layer 3?

    We have totally autonomous access 20 points in several remote sites. Probably expand us the current wireless network in the future. Say 50 will be enough. We intend to change these autonomous AP to the lighter. Download the WLC to control. My question is: can WLC lwap through lwapp layer 3 to communicate? If so, we only need a WLC sitting at HQ data center.

    Thank you.

    Lou

    Yes, LWAPP (or CAPWAP if you use newer versions of the WLC code) can use Layer 3 for communication between the WLC and APs.

    A week ago, I got an email from Apple saying that someone had attempted to buy something using my Apple ID. They suggested that I change my password, and I did. • UCS < 1.4.2b >, N1K and uplink

    Hi all

    I have a UCS (cluster) connected in vPC mode to a Nexus 7010.

    UCS 4.1U1 VMware ESXi, N1K with EHM PC blade-based UCS NIC is 71KR.

    Question is what happens if the two uplink of interconnection fails? I mean maybe cut fibres or stuff like that. N1K channel will be still two active link?

    Maybe the redundancy is performed by re arping for finding a mac (i've got UCS in switch mode) address, but I'm not sure. I saw a feature in the new version for a link status tracking rising full failure handling system (how?).

    last question about redundancy... what happens if a UCS IOM resets? I have some traffic disruption?

    TNX

    Dan

    Dan,

    Just to be clear, check the following:

    -UCS in switch mode

    -Adapters M71KR

    -N1k using Mac-pinning (I guess)

    -Connectivity upstream of each FI is a VPC to a pair of N7Ks.

    In this case, the N1K has no visibility of uplinks UCS.  See all your hosts VEM are two uplinks for each host (a session each fabric interconnect.)  If one of the two uplinks fails on interconnection, traffic will be the uplink remaining on this FI re-hairpin.  If the TWO uplinks on a financial institution fail, then UCS will be down (called the link at the bottom) server links and traffic should be routed through the MEC is another uplink will the other.  You can change this behavior to follow links to Server (for local switching only) but the default action of UCSM's close links to corresponding server if there are no links available on a financial institution.   Make sense?

    Now, in the last version of N1K here (1.4) is a new feature called followed by the State of the network (NST) for use with VPC - HM (such as Mac pinning).  This feature will allow to test the connectivity of a VLAN sends a probe packet and expect to get fired on another group of liaison rising/sup.   If you have a network VLAN which SHOULD be identified, you can follow with TSN.  If the network becomes unavailable, you can choose to close the uplink and re - route traffic to an another uplink.  This is useful to detect failures beyond the first jump (which would be the interconnections) as a failure somewhere in your N7K level or beyond.

    For your last question about a failure/reset of the IOM, the cards corresponding to each blade will lose connectivity.  This is redundancy at the host level comes into play to reroute traffic.  In the case of your hosts N1K VEM, they would simply be re - route traffic on the access road to functional IOM of the chassis.

    Another point to consider is the M71 and M81 adapters support Fabric Failover.  He is tilting at the adapter level if there is a failure with any device between the adapter and uplink (like the IOM or FI).  Fabric failover is a configurable option adapter which re - will route traffic in Menlo ASIC adapters to the fabric in the 'other', such that the host will NOT see one of the two ports down.  Without switch fabric, a failure of a MOI or FI consider the adapter and this port would descend.  FF only adds a level of redundancy in the adapter without having to rely on any OS host grouping/failover.  M51KR, M61 KR and M72KR adapters do NOT support this feature.

  • Without change to the FC switch to mode mode end-host FC

    In the window of maintenance last night, I was going to spend one of my systems UCS switch FC FC end-host Mode. The intention was to be able to reach the storage systems via an external FC SAN, instead of the current situation where storage is directly attached to the FIs. The UCS system in question is redundant fabric 6248UP of interconnections, blades are all of the B200M2 or the B200M3, and infrastructure (UCSM, FIs and IOM) running version 2.2(3a).

    The plan was relatively simple. First of all, I would like to change FI B mode end-host FC. Once this has been done re - I would record vHBAs the blades attached to the fabric B in my storage system, so that they could access their storage via the external SAN. Then I go through all the blade servers and ensure that they had access to storage multipath healthy and tolerant, how I would like to repeat the process for FI.

    It turned out to be a disaster, however. Once I started the process of change FI B FC end-Host mode, FIs times restarted, and all servers access storage and network. When they came again, both of them had changed the fashionable end-host FC, which means that none of the blades had access to their storage volumes more. So there is nothing to do but to return the change. Yet once, two FIs restarted at the same time and they both returned to the top in switching mode of CF. A few hours later, after have rebooted most of blade servers and cleaning applications having failed, we were in normal production.

    So what I was asking here why on Earth the two of my FIs restarted at the same time. Is this a known bug? The user interface would certainly think one can ignore at a time as I had planned, because the CF implemented end-Host Mode action link is on the page of each individual FI in UCSM (under hardware-> connections-> interconnection fabric A fabric / B). (So the action Set FC Switching Mode of link, incidentally.) Also, when I click on this link, I get a warning saying local ' are you sure you want to set the mode of end-host FC? If you select Yes , the fabric of interconnection will restart and this application will disconnect'. Note the use of the singular here; the warning refers to an single fabric of interconnection, which is perfectly logical that the change was requested only on one two FIs.
