When I try to use the search in Windows 7, I received the following message: "Windows cannot access the specific bequest, a file, or a path. May not permissions to access you the item. "I tried google problems and even went to the functionality in windows control panel - program - turning on or off, to make sure that I have the search function on. Also, I read in the community that you can use the search to find a file named regedit.exe to correct the situation. However, I cannot use the search function yet, so cannot find the file in question.

How can I configure an option of advanced search in Windows 7?
Original title: How do you get an option of advanced search in windows 7 as we could for earlier versions and calmly set your search?
When I click in the main search field, that I want to set the the bottom of box main search to the left of the screen but he rockets off.
It seems to be a limited selection of options that open up sometimes in blue under the search box which turns at the top of the right hand in Explorer can't see untial I put a word in the search box, sometimes just date arrives at other times can see other options such as the file.
Did not work what to do to access these options.
Reading on the advanced options, I see that I can type in the various symbols in the search.
Is that what someone has produced an add on make life easier when searching?
For example, I would first find the records to find files in folders by a specific word of the file type.
Any suggestions welcome.

Hello
Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community forums.
I see that you need to know more information on how to set-up an option of advanced search in Windows 7.
Let's see a few articles and see how it works.
Searching in Windows 7 can be as simple as typing a few letters in the search box, but there are also techniques of advanced search you can use. You don't have to know these techniques to search for your files, but they can be useful depending on where you are looking and what you are looking for.

I have Win 7 with Service Pack 1. I have "updated my Open Office 3.3 to 3.4 and now Win 7 search and options DO NOT locate my document content indexing more? I contacted the support of Open Office: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=55483
They claim that: "indexing and search in Windows 7 are performed by Windows 7", so there is a problem with Win 7 search and indexing options.
I checked the indexing options in Windows 7 and the "Index Properties and content of the file" is selected for ALL the 'odt' as well as all the files 'o'.
I set up a test document: I put only one word "Wednesday" in the Open Office text document, saved and it called "text". I am looking for Wednesday and the search comes up with two other documents containing the word Wednesday in them, but not the Test document?
I just discovered something. When I did the 'Test' experience above, the file was saved in format 'odt' a:. I changed it to a ".doc" file and it now appears in the search results. As mentioned above, I've changed ALL the files starting with the letter 'o' in Indexing Options > Advanced Options > Types of files to the article: 'properties Index and contents of the file. The description of filter for files 'odt' comes back as: "IFilter shop OpenOffice IFilter" where as 'doc' filter is listed as a: «Filter Microsoft Office» Is it a "Boutique OpenOffice IFilter IFilter: issue" Blocking "the documents appear in the search results? If so, how should I do (I mean in addition to all the documents 'odt' replacing 'doc'?
Just to clarify: document names 'odt' come to a search, but not the content document.

Windows 7 SP1 32-bit on Dell Optiplex 745
http://PC.NET/helpcenter/answers/access_and_edit_the_windows_registry
After reading the above Web page, I searched C:\Windows\System32\regedit32.exe
using Windows Explorer and could not find. I have "show readers, the hidden files and folders" selected under view
in then Folder Options if she were here, he should appear.
Here is a picture of the analysis of clarification; Can someone check to see if it is installed in their computer files? Thanks, D.Shepherd
If you look in the correct folder, and use the correct file name, you would be able to find regedt32.exe:
There was formerly a difference between regedit.exe and regedt32.exe but since Windows XP, when you start regedt32.exe, it ends up running regedit.exe:
https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/141377
So use either one you want, but whatever you choose, you're going to get regedit.exe.
Remember that there is no cancellation or exit without saving when you use the registry editor, so it is prudent to have a strategy that if you make a mistake and your system becomes unusable (not start) when you have done, you will have a way to cancel the changes.
You can use this popular tool costs to back up your registry:

And you can do a Manual Restore Point before starting:

Help? A matter of search for Windows 7...
I need to do a search for - only - hidden files or folders. I know I can put Explorer "Show hidden files and folders", but it shows - all files, not just those with the hidden attribute. I don't want to go through every file on my machine to pick them up.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)
We cannot directly use Windows 7 search to generate a list of items with a specified attribute. We can however in the command prompt. Or, a third option is to use another software of research that is out there that allows searching by attribute.
If using Windows 7 search, search using other properties you want, and then set the results window to display the named attributes column. (You can specify the columns of information appear - just right-click on any column title to display a menu, then click more... for a list.) Move the pointer of the mouse on the title attributes column and button click the arrow that appears to the right of the title. Click to put check marks in the boxes to the left of the desired attributes and combinations of attributes in the list of choices that appears.
Alternatively, with search for Windows 7, you can search with the attributes property, but oddly only by a numeric code that represents the sum of all the attributes of a file could have. Looking for attributes: 2 will give you all the files that have the hidden only attribute and no other attributes, but because the files can have several attributes, there are numerous possible different amounts you would search too so it isn't practical.
With a command prompt window, you can navigate the directory (folder or disk) that you want to search in (if you are familiar with the tricks of MS-DOS) and enter:
dir / a: h/s/b > results.txt
to create a file named results.txt in the current directory. Leave aside the/s if you do not want the included subdirectories in the search. Leave aside the/b (naked format) If you want to see the date, time, size and the information summarized for each file.
Other software from research that can search by specified attribute includes:
