Question of swap hard drive NAS Datastore

I make a hard drive on my QNAP NAS hotswap... as long as it's RAID 1. I have RAID 6, so I have to stop my NAS to swap a hard drive.

Stupid question: can I stop my NAS without closing all my virtual machines? I can make sure there is no change to the VMs. Sorry, I'm looking for an easy solution < g >. I don't have a storage vMotion-enabled.

One of my hard drives in the NAS is to launch during the self-test read errors.

Thank you

Mark

Without stopping the virtual machine, you will need to move to a different external storage device.  If you have any other storage to move the virtual machine then your only option is to stop.

First, let me describe the problem.  For the last couple months my Alienware M18x R2 acted weird.  It started with not to close or put on correctly, should be really really a lot of time to stop it.  I thought it might be memory related and replaced it with GSkill RAM with timings better and things seem to be improving a little bit.  Now lately it was stop in the middle of games.  Just black out and closing.  Recently there has been some problems with updates.

I did a restore of the system when I know it was not working properly, run Eset, Malware bytes, disk cleanup, defragmentation, and he did not better.  So I ran support assist, and Alienware autopsy by the Bios and everything is OK.

My rig has 2 gpu 675 m GeForce, 32 GB of RAM, 64 GB mSata cached, 2 x 512 GB 7200 RPM HDD RAID 0.  Out of warranty

I thought that the hard drives are failing or corrupt. There is a very slight on slot higher RPM.  So I decided I want to replace the SSDS and possibly upgrade the 120 or 128 GB mSATA.

This is so a few questions-

    1. What size SSD work? 7mm, 9.5 mm?  I plan to get at least 2 480 GB RAID 0

    2. it has SATA III for correct readers?

3 is it worth it to upgrade my mSATA cached to disk or not?  Is this SATA II or III

I'll do a clean install of windows 7 Professional on them.

I was watching Mushkin reactor or chronos, San disk ultra.  Everyone runs it 730 s Intel in a M18x, I hear that they are running more hot.  I am looking for performance and reliability. I in playing time.

News, thoughts or ideas will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

    Hello

    1. It supports 7 MM SSD
    2. It supports mSATA SSD SATA II and SATA III, for the ordinary 2.5 inch hard disks, it only supports SATA II.
    3. The upgrade, it might increase performance since its being used as a caching device. It is compatible SATA II and SATA III.

  • swapping hard drives between 8115-PXI and PXI-8105 won't boot to the top

I have a test system running Windows XP on the PXI-8105.  I have upgraded the full test for another project system and upgrade my existing systems; the upgrade works on Windows 7 and PXI-8115.  I have Windows 7 and the new test software of new hard drives that have been loaded/configured/tested on a PXI-8115, but I need to modernize the PXI-8105 with them.  It does not work.  Windows begins to start, but fails and trying over and over again.  In order to make the PXI-8105 offline to troubleshoot, I replaced it with the PXI-8115 and the old disk (WinXP).  It did not start, either.

Here is a summary of my situation:

    • An old a PXI-8105 system running Windows XP

    • A new system has PXI - 8115 Win7 running

    • A hard drive (with Win7) since the PXI-8115 does not start on the PXI-8105

    • A hard drive (with WinXP) since the PXI-8105 does not start on the PXI-8115

What is different between two controllers PXI that prevents me to swap hard drives?

  • Authentication of computers 2 after swapping hard drives

My processor of the computer crashed while I bought 2 genuine 2 retailers refurbished Dell computers.  I confirmed the authentication with Dell.  A computer was XP Pro and the other had Windows 7 with 7 offices to help retailers OEM licenses.  They both have been authenticated by SM.  After bringing home PC, I swapped hard drives.  How (if possible) I authenticate these while MS recognizes and updates?

What you did is not possible. Windows and Office OEM versions live and die on the computer on which they are first installed. OEM licenses are not transferable.

  • Replacement of hard drives NAS Pro StorCenter ix4-200r 2.1.48.30125

    Hi all

I need your help with replacement of disks problem

I have an Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS ix4-200r (Firmware 2.1.48.30125) installed originally with 4 x 1 TB of hard drives.
I had to replace a faulty drive, and on this occasion, I replaced 4 disks, one at a time at WD 2 TB SATA - WD20EFRX.

My questions are the system will start after reboot?

How can I make the system to use all available capacity (almost 6 to)?

When I look at the folders I can still see the original capacity (about 2.7 TB)
However when I look at disk management I see 1.8 to 4 disks each.

    Thank you

    Michael

    Hello micshe,

After an upgrade of capacity, you must perform a reset of factory from the user interface in order to force a rebuild and prepare the SIN to use the extra space.

  • Satellite P870 - swap HARD drive while keeping Windows 8 and Toshiba programs

    Hello

don't know if this is the right place but bad start here, I have a Satellite P870 provided with windows8 and all programs of Toshiba obviously, I intend to replace the drive in the laptop, for one SSD, but obviously, I need to be able to re - install my Windows8 on new HARD drive, so my first question is how can I go about it. and then once I found my Windows8 how or even not at all do all the Toshiba built in goodies.

I understand all user data will be lost, I do not know how to get the windows on the new drive

Prior to do any create recovery media.
This recovery disk, which you can use to reinstall original Toshiba Recovery on new SSD/HDD image.

Please don t forget. It is very important.

A friend of mine has updated its notebook with Samsung 840 Series SSD and is very satisfied.
To be honest I m thinking about doing the same thing on my laptop.

  • Satellite A200-1CR: Question about upgrade HARD drive

    Hi all...
I would like to ask something...

I have toshiba Satellite A200-1cr with 120 GB HARD drive...

I would like to change my HARD drive. I found a disk hard 2.5 "with 250 GB.

    My questions are the following:

    (1) my knowledge of the workstations are very very good. Is it easy to change myself?
I guess it is, but I want to be sure... I guess that is on IDE, right? No SATA at all?

    (2) if I changed it I lose my warranty?

    (3) can I give my laptop Toshiba in Greece official store and let them make the change?
May I take in an informal shop, too?

    (4) can be put on the laptop 2 x 250 GB such US new computers laptops from toshiba?
Is there enough space in the laptop for such a change?

    Thank you in advance...

    Hey Buddy

It is good that ask you the question.

    (1) the Satellite A200-1CR supports SATA and no IDE interface and that's why you need a SATA HDD. It of really not difficult to replace the HARD drive and as far as I know, you should find a few details in the user manual. There is a useful statement and photos that explain the entire procedure.

    (2) hm AFAIK the drive replacement HARD will not void the warranty, and has no effect on the State of security.

    (3) you can also contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country for a HARD drive replacement, but in my opinion that is not really necessary because the replacement is not very sensitive. As I said above, check the user manual.

    (4) I don t think that your laptop will support 2 x 250 GB HARD drive.
Of course, there are a few other series laptops which are abele to support two hard drives but I n t think that your laptop A200 support.

Just a small comment on the new HARD drive:
The fact is that some more HARD drive are not supported by the BIOS. I mean an upgrade to 120 GB to 250 GB drive HARD is really a leap one possibly your BIOS would not recognize the HARD drive correctly.
So I recommend to test the HDD first before buying.

    Good bye

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6060ep: question to replace HARD drive

    Hello.

I would like to know if replacing the current 500 Gb Hdd with a SSD would cancel or in any way affect my warranty coverage. The laptop is a year old. Thanks in advance for any assistance of withy this question.

    Hello:

There should be no problem with the warranty as long as you don't break something trying to install the HARD drive.

HP will not support the SSD however and your recovery disks don't work because the new drive must be the same size the 500 GB HARD drive you removed.

I have a workaround for the problem of recovery disk...

According to the specifications of your PC system, it came with W7 Home Premium 64-bit.

It must be in English, French or Spanish version too.

If so, download the ISO W7 Home Premium 64 bit on the link below.

Burn the file on a disk using a program that can burn ISO files so the DVD is bootable DVD burning.

Burn at the lowest speed as possible.

Then use the product key 25 character on the bottom of your laptop computer to activate the installation.

Support of your laptop and driver page visit to install all the drivers you need.

Link to downloads of MS of W7.

  • It's back up to swap hard drives on a Lenovo/IBM

You have the option in the BIOS choose which disk you will begin since if there is one installed in the UltraBay slot. It would be under BIOS > startup > startup then you press 'enter' and choose the drive, press F10 to save and exit.

Replacing a hard drive in R60 should take not more than a minute, but. Now, do the swap "at least once a week" is not something I would recommend long term.

    I hope this helps.

  • Satellite A100-451 - a few questions on the HARD drive, speakers

I hope someone can help with these that I could not help on the information line.

How fast is the hard drive on this laptop? He said SMART 160 GB, but does not specify a speed, although I'm guessing its 5400 RPM.

Are the Harmon Kardon speakers? The specs say Toshiba stereo, and even on the Comet, he said Harmon Kardon. Here is a good bass-wise?
Looks like there is no bluetooth, I find a little surprise.

Finally, the only place wherever I can find it for sale is the comet... I was wondering it anyone has also saw that I had some dodgy experiences with them.

    See you soon
    Matt

    Hello

I found some info that the rotation of the HARD drive is 4200 RPM. I'm not sure 100% on speakers but usually if laptop a harman/kardon speakers it is not in the specification but for A100-451, it is not the case. This info, you can get the garage directly.

BT is not available, and it shouldn't surprise you because most of the A100 models are supplied without BT module. You can use any time key USB BT. IT is simple to use and really cheap.

  • Satellite P200-1BA - questions about the HARD drive RAM upgrade

There is a 2nd internal HARD drive Bay, but not a female connector. Can I install it? How?
There are 2 slots for RAM, all together 2 GB. Is it possible to exit an and instead place a token 2 GB to 3 GB total or should I always double channel pair RAM?

It is not possible to install the second HARD drive. The laptop box is universal for all models P200, but some of them are delivered with 2 drives hard HDD upgrade is not possible.

With the RAM modules, you can do what you want. To be more precise, YES! You can remove a 1 GB module and put 2 GB RAM. Please just use high quality Rams and not some products without name at low cost.

  • Satellite P100-160: Question about upgrade HARD drive

    Hello

I would replace the internal hard drive to a larger size, but I don't know who is compatible.
Here is a link to dabs where they have 5 hard drives, but not sure if they will work.

Would be nice to get some tips on this thanks.

    Hello

I downloaded the user manual for this laptop from the Toshiba page and it says that you can use the 160 GB HARD drive.
I think that he n t be a problem to use a bigger like 200 HDD or 250 GB.

Sat P100 supports a SATA HDD controller and you should therefore use the HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
