Question on Removable Drives

It's what's on 'my computer '.

Local (c :))

Diskette (a :))

DVD - RW (D :))

Removable (e :)) (F) (G) (H) (I))

Problem... I have a "zip drive" or "thumb drive" or whatever his name in the store u buy... but... I was download all powerpoint teacher gives lessons in class us since January 2012... my "zip drive" only moves safely in my school bag... worked fine for two months and then... last week I went to do his homework and was trying to get this for information... O! Hell no! says cannot access drive (J :)...) WHAT!... so take my "zip drive" to the class, asked the professor to load into his computer (which the original info of)... everything came?... WHAT!... it is a kind of "pretentious" of his compatriot when I asked if I bought a new removable disk it would download all the powerpoints that would help with testing!... took the position as no.!... Now, my point is that I have "googleed" ' bing "yahoo' looking for this problem with the drive (J :)... pasted my zip drive in both places that have worked before, the little lite flashes then turns off... sometimes the name of the file will start to blink on the screen... but the error happens!... as far as I know how to check my computer and the answers on the various web sites are not enough in terms of understand and I did) don't want to 'dig deeper' in places I'm not aware and take computer to 'Dr. nerd Wizard'... but in retrospect, I always this good old book to study... way just upset that I learn faster about the 'Visual' not always upon the written word... CAN SOMEONE ENLIGHTEN ME?

Hello

Have you checked if the other USB devices do recognize on the computer?

Method 1:

I suggest you to go through the steps mentioned in the link and the Coachman.

A computer that is running Windows XP cannot detect a USB, an Apple iPod flash drive or an external hard disk drive

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/925196

Method 2:

(a) go to my computer

(b) right click PROPERTIES

(c) Device Manager

(d) scroll down to the bottom, where it says UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLER.

(e) right click 2 or 3 (depending on the number of ports (USB a computer)

(f) HUB USB root > Uninstall --> CONFIRM DEVICE UNINSTALL and click OK

Hope this helps and keep us posted.

  • Computer will not recognize Pro Duo or removable drives.

Computer Vista will not read my Pro Duo chip, or it will show all removable drives except ROM USB where I have an optical mouse wirelesss connected (when I check my computer).  The import wizard shows only a USB where prior that he showed, f, g, h, etc.

    Thank you.

Thank you for these two answers, unfortunately the first did not work, and the second deals with USB.  The computer will not recognize any location chip memory, they do not appear on the Import Wizard, or MY computer.  The only two drives that appear are drive C and drive J, which is where I have a wireless mouse hooked up.   Just before this problem I had... and still not... a bottom of screen message "one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned... Click this message for more information."  The only connected usb is the mouse, and it works fine.  Solutions that deal with USB issues aren't really questions I have, except that in the future (if the problem remains) USB ports do not appear on my computer either.  Someone who has some said knowledgge I need to re - map the hard drive, or something?

I really appreciate the time you people consume with it.  Any other ideas?

My photos are in the windows photo gallery and I just need to put them on my drive removable usb and I do not know how?

First of all, please note that 'download' is really the right term. What you want to do is * copy * (or move) the files to the removable disk.

Secondly, the fact that the files are images is irrelevant.

Thirdly, the fact that the drive is connected by USB and removable is also irrelevant.

So what you want to do is copy the files to a location on your computer to another. There are several ways to do so and the two most common are the copy - paste and drag - move.

Here's what I recommend: open Windows Explorer or my computer and navigate to the folder wjhere your photos are stored. Open Windows Explorer or my computer again, then navigate to the removable drive. Resize and reposition the two windows, so they are all two visible. Select the files you want to copy (if you want all, click on in this window, and then press Ctrl + A). Then right-click-move them to another window. You will be asked whether if you want to copy or move. Choose the one you want.

  • Error "insert a disk in the removable drive.

I just bought an external hard drive (Toshiba alu 2.5) and plugs in via USB. In 'My computer', it shows as removable disk (f :)). When I try to open the drive it shows "insert a disk in the removable drive. I tried to rename the drive to a different letter using disk management and also tried to uninstall and reinstall and download the drivers. I can do something very stupid, but I can't find answers!

I think it's a hardware problem with the device and you should requst a replacement around where you bought it.  If we get the same problem, I frankly don't know what to do because these devices are so easy to install that any error must be with the itsellf of the unit (or the ability of Vista to recognize for what it is, but leads to a problem of compatibility or some other problem that I can't even imagine).

Let me know how it goes.

    I hope this helps.

  • Save the photos on a removable drive.

I am trying to send photos on a removable drive, drive 'I '. I get an error message "error 0 x 80070052 cannot create the directory or file.»  How can I fix it?

Note: My first attempt to send photos to this album was successful. I try to send another batch of photos and I get this error message. There is enough space on the removable disk.

The error you mention usually appears when too of
files copied to the root directory of the drive.

Simple solution is to create folders to copy the files in.

  • P500 - big questions re: hard drive

    Greetings to the Group!

My Ideapoad P500 is about 16 months (the warranty period is therefore, of course!) A few nights after a reboot I got the message "hard drive to fix the errors. It may take an hour or more. "... or something very similar. The laptop hooked to this message for more than 18 hours.

I did a hard reboot and now get the message "check media' followed by the error"initialization failed." This leads to the message "default dbo device missing or failed to start."

No I don't have any recovery media

Yes I have backups fairly recent, it's not a problem.

I have a box that I can use to connect my portable hard drive till I can see if the drive is still readable.

That's the 64 thousand dollar question... How can I get the hard drive of the laptop? I took the five screws from the rear. At this point, I think the DVD player needs to come out, but is not.

Can someone point me to a video or a document that describes in detail how to get the hard drive out?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • my dvd/cd drive and all other removable drives are more recognized since an update from microsoft

I need help! My CD/DVD drive has disappeared, it is not even in the BIOS, and all the other removable disks since I installed an update from Microsoft. I went through all the troubleshooting steps and nothing has worked, including the fix it. How can I fix it?
