  I did not yet a recovery disk and I was wondering if the files (ie. music) would be included in the recovery, and if they were not would be removed. Also, I was wondering about the programs (ie. iTunes), it will be recovered because I do the recovery with installed disk.

  It's just a problem because I have 250GB of music and I would like to take a moment to move to my laptop hard drive and it would really screw up iTunes.

  I have Satellite A300-1LI in front of me and I use it about a month now. Startup time is very interesting theme and with a good configuration, you can optimize and make much shorter as with factory setting.   Battery operating time? I have to say that information about two hours are realistic and I can confirm that. The same thing on my Satellite. But to be honest for mobile computing, it's OK. I've changed several notebooks and just business laptop Tecra had to linger battery operation. What you can do is check the Toshiba support site and look for info on the more powerful battery. • Question about video drivers Satellite P100-257

  Hello.
  Question about video driver. Version 14.25... Works (tells... 945 GM chipset); 14.27--works but with ocassional problems (tells... 945GM/GU); version 14,29... (said 945GM/GU) - does not work at all - black screen, but you can hear sounds which tells that XP does all right.

  Why that? And what is GU? Pilot info says it is for 945GM, pilot says he's for 945GM/GU.

  All kinds of three said they are for Mobile Intel 945 GM Express chipset. Who initially my machine have said there. In section "video card" my machine said no Intel - some Calg... - don't remember exactly the name.

  As much as I know Satellite P100-257 supports the graphics card Mobile Intel 945GM. The code name of Intel's GM Calistoga
  This is not the same thing as the chipset Intel 945GM/GU. Both are different and so the graphics drivers are not totally compatible!

  The Intel page provides some interesting info on these chipsets:

  Unfortunately, I have not found anything on the 945GM/GU.

• Satellite L305-S5920: Question about PC card, new use HDD & Win XP

  I recently bought this machine in the mail and on arrival was disappointed to see that it is not equipped with a Firewire plug - I thought that all the machines which had today? Too bad, I thought I'd use my PCMCIA Firewire card. But then I found that what looks like a standard PCMCIA socket has a block to halfway down on one side which prevents a normal PCMCIA card being inserted. Snookered. What is this decision? Not one of my PC cards will go in.

  I then tried, had always been my intention to replace the 160 gb HD with a new 500 GB it and install XP on it. It's a very long story, but it culminates at Toshiba telling me that "this model will not work XP. Someone at - it ideas how to get around this problem?

  Either way, I don't seem to have all the means to re-establish a new HD Vista if/when this one fails. Am I expected to go out and buy, or I missed something? There is no "recovery partition" on the hard drive so there is no way that I can produce my own recovery disk.

  I then tried to play a DVD, to be told that it was the wrong region and could not be played. Quite absurd to place this restriction on laptops - I live in two Americas and Britain - but once again so much worse, I'll just load AnyDVD and continue nevertheless. But no - the carpet * a drive mounted by Toshiba is one of the few that cannot be decrypted.

  Therefore this machine, which works well in its own design constraints, is nowhere near what I wanted and expected it to be. Can someone suggest a solution to all of the above questions?
