Questions of NFS mount points

I have two questions about how the NFS mount points is in fact from the point of view NFS servers.

If the mount point of the 'outside' is considered as for example / ISO, would this mean

1. that the directory is named "iso" or could it be a real name on the local file system on the NAS Server? (As in the names of SMB share, could be different from the name of folder.)

2. that the folder is actually located directly on the root of the local file system, which is/ISO on the server, or would it be for example/dir1/dir2/iso and always to the outside as appearance / ISO? (As in the SMB, where 'share' creates a new root somewhere on the filesystem that is exposed to the outside.)

Thank you! It would be a typical NFS-Unix/Linux server?

Yes.

So perhaps it is not defined in the standard how this should be done, but can vary between implementations? (* nix of course most common.)

Possible, but does MS ever meet standards? Even their own?

RFC1094/NFS:

"Different operating systems may have restrictions on the depth of the tree or used names, but also using a syntax different tor represent the"path", which is the concatenation of all the"components"(file and directory names) in the name...". Some operating systems provide a 'mount' operation to make all file systems appear as a single tree, while others maintain a 'forest' of file systems... NFS looking for a component of a path at the same time.  It may not be obvious why he did not only take the name of way together, stroll in the directories and return a file handle when it is carried out.  There are many good reasons not to do so.  First, paths need separators between items in the directory, and different operating systems use different separators.  We could define a representation of network Standard access path, but then each path must be analyzed and converted at each end. Are the T2P scripts supported on NFS mounts? If so, how to solve this problem? Would appreciate your comments on how we can solve this problem

The issue was due to wrong settings for the frames. This has been fixed by the storage team. T2P scripts were always initially and after that correction of the Storage mounts, they ran successfully. A restoration was necessary, and RCU patterns had to be recreated on the clone

  • How to recover missing the mounting point on the standby server

Environment: Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE on Solaris

I have a Production database with a physical standby created and run in our remote data center and this configuration worked well for several years.

Recently, I had 2 two new mount points, added to the Production Server but unfortunately do not have their created on the standby server.  I did not remapped mounting points, so the layout is identical between the Production and standby.  At least it was.

I created several new data files on the Production Server using the new mount points.

Once I realized my mistake, I had additional mounting points created on the standby server.

I STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT = AUTO on the day before, but obviously the new data file was not created since mount points were not available when they were added in the Production.

Without the mount points and therefore the new data files, on the eve, archive logs are not applied on the day before.  There are currently about 150 newspapers that must be applied.

Question: Can I copy the files of existing data from the Production Server to the standby server and Data Guard will know which archives newspapers must be applied to standby data files to bring them current with the files of Production data?

If this is not the case, how can I get the new data files created on the eve and a return to synchronization with the Production?

Thanks a lot for your help!

    -gary

Once the mount points are created on the eve, manually resume the managed recovery. The day before would have abandoned managed recovery so you don't have to make it work again. The transaction that has been reproduced that requires mount points should not proceed. Given enough time, the wait will catch up to where it should be. If it's not fast enough, then use RMAN to roll forward the day before as indicated in a previous answer.

    > Can I copy the existing data files on the Production Server to the standby server

N ° you can not do this.

  • Instance of A database clone on a different mount point.

    Hello Gurs,

I need your help I need to clone a 11.1.0.7 instance of database on a NEW mounting point on the same host. The host is a HP - UX box and my question is that I need to install the oracle database software in the new mount point and then clone? or cloning until this NEW MOUNT itself will create all the necessary software? Of Please provide me with all the documents that will be useful for the process.

    Thanks in advance.

RMAN would connect to the database if you specify the sys user specifying the user name.
In the command that you used

    "" RMAN > target PRODY auxiliary / ".

Default RMAN connects to the PRODY database with the sys user.

As said earilier, to resolve the problem you are experiencing, use the connection strings when connecting your databases if there is more than one instance running on the same computer.

    I have a small question here-->

    What is the difference between:
    $rman auxiliary sys/***@prody target.
    AND
    $rman target auxiliary prody.

    $rman auxiliary sys/***@prody target.
In the command above rman attempts to connect the target database with the sys user name and the password for the sys. Also you try to connect to the database using the connection string 'prody"that is mentioned in the tnsnames.ora file. For the above command works, you should set the ORACLE_SID to auxiliary database and use it later.

    $rman target auxiliary prody.
In the above command, rman connects to the target "prody" with the sys user database and later ask the password for the sys user. When connecting to the "auxiliary / ', it assumes you are trying to connect to the same database (prody) and therefore again connects to the prody database."

  • Size of the VCB proxy mount point?

We are looking to integrate VCB with HP Server 6.0 the VCB proxy host will have hosted on the San storage, I need to save about 2.6 TB of data vmfs by night. We want to not backup of the virtual machine at the level of the image to the facility.

My question is: should my proxy server VCB a mount point of 2.6 TB, or does only need a larger size of the VM mount point?

It depends on how you plan your backups. VCB backup will copy the VMDK file in the staging area of the VCB then as backup. If you save just a VMDK in time then there must be enough space to hold the largest VMDK. If you are running backups obvisouly Parallels, there should be enough space to contain all the VMDK files to backup at any time

It is unclear where you try to install Yosemite.

Open the DiskUtility to see if your external hard drive is recognized, you can force mount the drive in the menu drop-down

    DiskUtility > file > install

  • Mount point of the external SD card

The SD card works obviously, since I updated to 4.1

I can't find the volume with Windows Explorer ARE. What is the path to the external sd card?

Moderator comment: images > 50 KB converted for programming. Community rules.

    This clarifies the paths:

    The mount points are:

    / Import/Storage/sdcard0 /.

    / Import/Storage/sdcard1 /.

    /SDCard and /sdcard2 are aliases.

To mount all readers with davdrive, just change the path in /sdcard davdrive to.

  • NFS mounts persist?

    Hi all

I've updated to Win 7 Enterprise for NFS support.

I was able to map two NFS shares successfully.

However, upon restart, the actions are lost. Is it possible (I don't see one in the snap-snap-in mmc NFS) to indicate that they be reconnected at logon. I could use a login script in local GPO to do this, but I was wondering if there was a "better way" (tm).

A tip for those who struggle with the NFS client: use showmount to see if Windows can even see the actions. I had to set the firewall issues, then showmount showed stocks and I was able to login and navigate through the:

    Server EI C:\Users\owner>showmount
    Export the server list:
    /nfs4exports 192.168.x.0/24
    RAID 192.168.x.0/24/nfs4exports.
    mythstorage 192.168.x.0/24/nfs4exports.

    C:\Users\owner>mount server: / nfs4exports/z: raid
z: is now connected to the server: / nfs4exports/raid

    The command completed successfully.

    C:\Users\owner >

Found the answer on the technet site (it's sort of, a persistent systemic mount is not possible, but using a user login script is possible.)

Basically NFS connections are stored on a basis by user.

"NFS mounted drive letters are specific session so running this in a script to start most likely will not work." The service would probably need to mount its own drive letters from a script that runs in the context of service. We have specific guidelines, that it is not recommended to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/180362. "
