Questions to filter items in the Finder Automator

Hi all.

I'm having a problem with the action of the filter Finder items in Automator, and after traveling through post after post, I am not able to find a solution.

I'm trying to pull a file created today in an email and send it to a specific contact. The files I need from this search action ARE emerging in Spotlight, kind of indexing has already taken place.

My workflow looks like this:

The filter window Finder items should be displayed a number of results, but instead, he gets up as stated above. Of course, since no files are, nothing can be attached to an e-mail message, so there is a mistake.

Anyone can shed some light on this? I'm willing to use a workaround, because it seems that this issue has been plaguing OS - X. Please and thank you!

Follows don't spare well because the found documents prior to the invocation of messaging application and are passed to the last action. Tested on OS X 10.11.3. Just add the action to send outgoing Messages to the next, and it will be complete.

  • Automator: using a text file to set several items from the finder?

    Hello

    what I would do:

    I have a text file that contains multiple entries for files and folders, each on a separate line. I want to dragndrop this file on an automator action, he should ask me a destination folder and then copy all the files and folders in this folder.

    I have my action, automator, set up like this:

    Elements of the open Finder

    Get the content of the TextEdit Document

    Copy to the Clipboard (I have not found another way to keep my text sort file values and let it not be crushed by the following, but it works)

    Quit the Application (TextEdit)

    Ask the Finder items (this requires a destination folder)

    Set the value of the Variable (Destination)

    Get the contents of the Clipboard

    Copies the items from the Finder (at Destination)

    It all works, but only when there is 1 entry in my text file. As soon as I have 2 lines of text, I get the following error message:

    The action "copy Finder items" has not provided with the required data.

    How can I make this work with multiple entries?

    The problem is that you only pass the only element to the copy action (you have copied text), instead of an element for each line (paragraph) in the text.  The solution is to use the action filter paragraphs to break up along the borders of paragraph text, which will give you a list of items.  In addition, you do not necessarily have to use TextEdit or the Clipboard - If you already have a file somewhere, you can simply use the action to combine text files to read the text.

    With the above modifications, your workflow should look like:

    Ask the Finder items  (ask for a destination folder)

    Set the value of the Variable  (Destination)

    Ask the Finder items  (Download text files) - set the action to ignore the entry

    Combine text files  (read the text files)

    Filter paragraphs  (paragraphs which are not empty return)

    Copy the items to the Finder  (at Destination)

  • where can I find dashboard items in the finder or terminal?

    I need to find the content of the dashboard in the finder or terminal to eliminate one of its elements.

    By mistake I installed something that isn't even a widget, but instantly opens web browser, then any time, I opened the dashboard, a second later it closes and safari opens. It's too little time to click the button "-" and remove the false widget. It seems that the only way to get rid of it is to get rid of it at the level of the finder or terminal, not management dashboard.

    Help, please

    This procedure will reset the configuration of your dashboard to the default value.

    Back up all data before proceeding.

    Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

    defaults delete com.apple.dashboard layer-gadgets && killall Dock

    Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

    Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

    ☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

    ☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    Paste in the Terminal window by pressing the command-V key combination. I tested these instructions only with the Safari browser. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting.

    Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal.

  • Question signs in the Finder toolbar

    I see signs of question in the Finder toolbar (instead of the icons, I guess).

    When I click on any sign, a system message appears: "the item is not found."

    What this means and what I can do to remove these signs of the toolbar?

    This means that something is in there pointing to a document or an application that is no longer there.

    To remove: hold down the command key and drag everyone out of the toolbar. Pouf! They went.

  • Error ERR-1002 unable to find item for the 'ID' element ID in the application

    Hello world

    I'm new to APEX and I came across this error for the first time. I have a page with a classic report in it, and I want to create a link to one of the columns in the report (column ID) to another page with a classic report in it. So when I click on, say, ID 118, I want to be sent to another page and don't see ID 118 information.
    After you create the link in the column, I get the error message when I run the application:

    Error ERR-1002 unable to find item for the 'ID' element ID in the application

    I tried to create a link from one report to the other before and it worked fine.

    Thank you!

    P.S. I use APEX 3.2

    Then you must create an item called ID on your page 2 (hidden make) and the link will pass the value of the ID of the line picked up on this hidden item. Now in page 2 make your report filter query on id = P2_ID or another name that you use...

    Hope this helps,
    His

  • How to add comments to several files in the finder using automator?

    I need to add comments to multiple files in the finder. Can I do this using Automator application, without going file-by-file and press command + i to add a comment one by one?

  • Remove the Finder tags in more than 10 items at a time

    Is it my setup or a remove the tags in the files of more than 10 changed in OS X 10.11?

    I used to add or remove tags at will. But now it seems that I can only take off the mark max 10 files at once via ctrl + click or Finder > file > Tags... With more than 10 points, the delete tag option is not available.

    If I want to remove the brand more than 10 files, I have to ctrl-click > read the summary information (more than 40 items will automatically in this mode), THEN batch-deletion of tags.

    I noticed that today, as well. It works fine for 1 to 10 items, but when you select that item 11 (or), it highlights all the tags, as if you have all the applied, rather than just a you have on them.

    Seems like a bug to me, but I'm not sure.

    I've found a workaround, if:

    Click on the word "Tags"... "above the points colored. Then, in the white field where the current tags assigned to this item, click the tag you want to delete, and then press the delete key.

  • Cannot delete the file. Says "not not found could not find this item check the location of this object and try again."

    Cannot delete the file.  Says "not not found could not find this item check the location of this object and try again."

    I got this file from my friend got sent - is a word document, I had on their computer.  So I tried to use Disk Cleanup to delete temporary files, temporary internet files and files program downloaded.  Does not work.

    When I check the properties, there is no security tab so I can't transfer ownership in this way.

    I don't want to experiment using the way of the transfer of ownership command prompt as the name of the file is several sentences long.  I can't rename it either, of course.

    Windows 7, a week and I already have a stupid problem which has already lost an hour of my time.

    What I did was to create a Notepad file that was empty and saved in the same location as the file that won't go away.  Once registered.  I click with the right button on the new file and rename the exact name as the file problem.  Don't forget to change the file extension (ex: .doc)

    ex file problem: word.doc

    new file: word.doc

    as long as they match eachother exactly you should see the file problem disappear and once that's gone, you can delete the new file created.

  • Custom menu item at the request of Message: two questions

    I try to add a custom menu to the Blackberry message request and get two questions:

    1. When you click the custom menu, the "Application.getApplication () .requestForeground (); method call does not call the main() method of my application "DemoMI".
    2. If I changed the method of

    Application.getApplication () .requestForeground)

    TO

    What you see is the expected behavior.  The ApplicationMenuItem runs in a different process where your application was run.  You have two options.

    You can store the subject of the Message in the RuntimeStore when the ApplicationMenuItem is called.  Your application you are undertaking could then read the subject of the Message of the RuntimeStore.

  • Find the owner of the item from the catalog

    I can get the item from the catalog but how to find the owner?

    For a paralyzed man, I can use getOwner(), but I'm not find the equivalent for a catalog item.

    Thank you

    Hello

    You can find the owner catalogItem by considering the means below:

    By QueryService:

    client = (new Vcloud_VCloudClientTest()). Customer;

    adminQueryService = customer. GetVcloudAdmin(). GetAdminQueryService();

    Save RecordResult = adminQueryService.QueryRecords <>, QueryResultAdminCatalogItemRecordType > (QueryRecordType.ADMINCATALOGITEM);

    String name = record. GetRecords() [0] .ownerName;

    Of the Code snippet:

    _catalogItem = CatalogItem.GetCatalogItemByReference (_vCloudClientTest.Client, _catalogItemRef);

    ReferenceType reference = _catalogItem.GetEntityReference ();

    VappTemplate _vAppTemplate = VappTemplate.GetVappTemplateByReference (_vCloudClientTest.Client, reference);

    String name = _vAppTemplate.GetOwner () .name;

    Please let me know for any concerns.

    Kind regards

  • How to use the find method to search for multiple items in a single paragraph?

    I'm desigining a script to find all instances where ctrl + b and ctrl + i are applied to body text and then replace the format of these characters replaced with chartag italic or bold.  Here's what the script is supposed to do:

    1. put the find method in a while loop that overrides seeks format character.
    2. If a substitution of format character is found, pass the text range returned by the find method and the CharPropsChange flag in the GetTextForRange method.
    3. Use a Boolean comparison between the idata of the text element to the angle of character and character constant weight.
    4. What that is the boolean is set to true, and then use the SetTextProp method to set the properties of the text range for the italic or bold character tag properties.

    This script works on the substitution of format first character found however it ignores other substitutions in the same paragraph. The cause of this is that the while loop updated the line of text control used by the find method for the following paragraph in the stream. I think I need to add an inner loop that runs through all the text in a single paragraph, where teaching iteration the loc text used by the find method is based on the same paragraph, but the offset is changed. I don't know how to do this.

    function removeOverrides (RPSC)

    {

    var vDocStart = pDoc.MainFlowInDoc.FirstTextFrameInFlow.FirstPgf;

    var vBoldFmt = getCharFmt (RPSC, "Bold")

    var vItalicFmt = getCharFmt (RPSC, 'Italic')

    initFA_errno ();

    While (FA_errno is constant .FE_Success)

    {

    var vTextLoc = new TextLoc(vDocStart,0);

    var vFindParams = findOverrideParams (CDRP);

    var vTextRange = pDoc.Find (vTextLoc, vFindParams);

    If (vTextRange.beg.obj.ObjectValid ())

    {

    var vTextItems = pDoc.GetTextForRange (vTextRange, Constants.FTI_CharPropsChange)

    If (vTextItems.length ==! 0)

    {

    If (vTextItems [0] .idata == constant .FTF_WEIGHT)

    {

    pDoc.SetTextProps (vTextRange, vBoldFmt.GetProps ())

    }

    If (vTextItems [0] .idata == constant .FTF_ANGLE)

    {

    pDoc.SetTextProps (vTextRange, vItalicFmt.GetProps ())

    }

    } else (Log (vLogFileName, ' \nERROR: none of the items were found in the table in text format but alternative size were found: ' + pDoc.Name))

    }

    vDocStart = vDocStart.NextPgfInFlow;

    }

    }

    function findOverrideParams (RPSC)

    {

    var vFindParams = AllocatePropVals (1);

    vFindParams [0].propIdent.num = Constants.FS_FindObject;

    vFindParams [0].propVal.valType = Constants.FT_Integer;

    vFindParams [0].propVal.ival = Constants.FV_FindCharacterFormatOverride;

    Return vFindParams;

    }

    Another approach (which is what I usually did) is after the first search to set vTextLoc = vTextRange.end

    Whatever it is, you might consider moving your initialization of vTextLoc and vFindParams outside the while loop. The settings do not change, why redefine them for each search?

  • How to find the Index of the item in the XMLListCollection

    Hello

    I have a burning question here, and I wonder if anyone has tried to do.
    I have a XML file which is read in xml, and for each collection names that appear in the file (previously stated elsewhere), I tried to remove the item.

    However, it gives me either-1, if I trace (slc.getItemIndex (xml.@name) m:System.NET.SocketAddress.ToString ()); where they exist, or tell me #3594, as shown in the below error:

    Here is the code:

    private void checkBox_change(event:Event):void {}
    XLC = new XMLListCollection (searchResult... book);
    SearchResult = Len... Publisher.length ();
    for (idx = 0; idx < len; idx ++) {}
    If (checkbox [idx] .selected == false) {}
    for each {(name input_name2)
    for each {(xml in xlc)
    If ((xml.@name == checkBox[idx].label) & & (xml.@pub == name)) {}
    trace (XML. GetItemIndex (XML.@Name). ToString());
    I get an error that says: 3594: getItemIndex is not a method of the dynamic class XML.

    }
    }
    }
    }
    }
    }

    Could someone please give me some advice on how to remove the item you want? I don't know how to use the splice.

    Thanks for your help.

    Alice

    getItemIndex() requires that you pass in a reference to an item in the collection, not a string.

    And it is a method of XMLListCollection (and collection arrayCollection), not a method of XML.

    As Michael says, using an e4x expression directly with delete is the best way to go.  Note to use delete, you must use a direct expression.  You can not put the node you want to remove in a variable and then delete that.

  • Missing items in the menu go Finder

    Hi, having a problem with one of our macs, after upgrading to Mac OS Sierra, it does not show library in the finder, open menu when you press and hold ALT option  When you create a new user profile to test the behavior even under this profile, the problem does not occur.  I don't know if it is a preferences file that could be the cause, hoping that someone else who maybe has a good idea of what could be the cause?  We tried to remove the com.apple.finder.plist files and restart just to see if it fixes, but have so far not been successful to actually solve the issue.  Thank you!  David

    Try this:

    1. In the OS X Finder, pull down the Go menu and choose homepage
    2. Pull down the view menu, and then choose Show Options
    3. At the bottom of the list of Display Options settings, check the box to display the library folder

    Now, you won't have to do the round of ALT go.

    This error should only appear when you use a list item with the type list of the combobox value. A combobox in forms is a listitem where you can also enter your own text. If you have need a drop-down list, on property liststyle poplist. It also works without patch. If you really need the combobox, patch.
