• Install Quicken 2002 on a Windows7 Home Premium SP1 machine

  My husbands machine Vista plays to the top and needs to go home. He used Quicken 2002 for 12 years for the personal accounting and small business and wants to continue to use it.  I offered to put it on my HP Pavilion dv6, which is a Windows7 Home Premium SP1 op system. I tried to copy the contents of disc of quicken to my hard drive, change the compatibility mode of the programs for xp SP3 and as an administrator, but it still does not work. I've seen some old posts where people say they have it working under my set but without a full explanation. Any ideas, anyone please.

  The 'buy' on Ebay was for advice (I had originally thought and not the CD) but it's a great buy by following his advice intitial I bought a download to Quicken 2004XG and with the help of Dennis, we were able to install it on both a HP Pavilion windows 7 Home premium sp1 computer laptop and a PC Vista Home Premium sp2. Quicken seems to work perfectly and we were tweaking our original saved reports a bit on Windows 7 to run. Otherwise we would have lost for Quicken as our old laptop running 2002 disintegrates. Our other ideas would have not worked as we might not installed on any computer or maybe not even the same 2002 repaired laptop because registration would not have worked.

  We kept checking our personal finances and business since 1998 using Quicken (15 MB of data) and with Excel, spreadsheets have been able to plan a financial scenario that turned out to be very beneficial. I totally recommend planning to individuals and programs such as Quicken are essential.

  The United States abandoned Quicken to the United Kingdom completely outside the last 2004XG.

  Thanks again for your help and immediate response to my query. I hope that other British people find it useful and I recommend you the Ebay link to buy advice of Dennis, who worked for Intuit.

• When will they be available for software Win7 HP printers'?

  I have a couple of HP printers and three machines running Win7 Release version. It's really annoying that I can't install any software of HP so I lost the fax and scanning of these printers feature.

  Maybe they are still testing the software. After the problems with Vista, I think HP doesn't want to risk more. TBH I don't really know the exact reason.

• Quicken - the installation program must be started by the Windows program manager

  I used the special edition of Quicken 2002 on multiple computers - which this one with Vista for 3-4 years.  I accidentally deleted and tried to reinstall it.  Using the installation application, the system makes the installshield, then stops and says "this program must be launched by the Windows program manager."

  Check programs to ensure compatibility with Vista to the: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-vista/.  With Office, it depends on your version of Vista (32-bit is but 64-bit isn't)http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-vista/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=Microsoft%20Office%20XP%20Standard&v=Microsoft&uid=10&pf=0&pi=1&s=Microsoft%20Office%20XP%20Standard%202002&os=32-bit.  With Quick Books, I couldn't find a reference, but Quicken 2002 is not compatible, so I guess the same is true for Quickbookds.  Your best bet is to contact Adobe and ask them for the results here are not clear (but I bet that's not compatible based on the problems you are having with the installation).

  Sometimes you can get apps more old which are not compatible to run Vista inhttp://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-compatibility-mode/Compatibility Mode.  But of course you must first be able to install them.  In Vista, command.com is found not in Windows\ but in Windows\System32.  That would be enough to prevent installation.

• Quicken 2004 - cannot open files

  I've been using Quicken 2002 - although 10 years - and verified that it might work on Windows 7 before moving on to this operating system. Had problems with the files saved or copied on the hard disk has so decided to upgrade to Quicken 2004 - problems persist.

  Managed to install and use 2004 (as administrator and in Compatibility Mode) but as for the 2002 version - my backup of the files on the 'C' drive or an external hard drive does not open - and if I copy the file in Quicken (QDF) to a folder, I can not open that either.
  Old files - saved previously in Windows XP and stored on the hard drive - will be open.
  However all is not lost because I save and copy existing files to a memory stick that works very well.
  Can someone explain why the files on hard drives won't open?

  OK - solved the problem, when I found my way to http:/support.quicken.intuit.com, and the question has been answered under: file conversion error: "can't open file", "Unable to validate the data file" or "Cannot open the file" updated: 27/04/2012 | Article ID: GEN82031
  My problem was that the file name has more than eight characters, which is not allowed - OK then why the defective file (with 9 characters) name recorded on a memory stick opened but the same file don't would be open not only open if copied on the hard drive?

  First of all, the BIOS update! This is necessary for 'Windows 7' If your BIOS version 3.00 update - Toshiba Satellite M100 BIOS update v5.60;

  Before install "Windows 7"... I updated my BIOS (v3.00) to v5.60 - Toshiba Satellite M100 BIOS update v5.60
  I did it by 'Windows' XP Pro x 32... Executable file simply run it and follow the steps.

  Note:
  There is two years that I posted the question in the present case (forums.computers.toshiba - Europe.com) on my CCF. Clock in the BIOS (I forgot the BIOS version. Original BIOS, I bought my laptop & no has not updated the BIOS then) was frozen. Sometimes the time indicators worked, sometimes not. Very little time. But indicators stood also hours. Time passing in the system. In the frozen BIOS - 13:13:13, for example. Can I update the BIOS - v3.00, I hope my CCF works again. Nothing... Two years, I worked with frozen CCF.   Tried to install different versions of "Toshiba" extra package. Same error... Guessed the BIOS update! Among the drivers & utilities in site 'Toshiba' BIOS for 'Windows 7 ' offer for Satellite M100 (PSMA1E) v3.00. But BIOS v5.60 shown for 'Windows' "Vista". Same platform, same core with 'Windows 7' (theoretically)... Basic logical approach! I downloaded & updated BIOS - v5.60! Great! BIOS has been updated... Perhaps, "Toshiba" value added package will install properly. I hope. I wait a few seconds after the system shuts down. I turn on my laptop & press F2 - looked at BIOS... Incredible... First of all, I've seen - seconds in my clock BIOS runs again! Each of us felt a sense of joy! But after two years... The BIOS time worked again! So, it's amazing! But don't be naïve. Certainly, there is a scientific explanation. I mean the BIOS update can help solve similar problems. But everything has to be studied in detail. After BIOS update, I installed "Toshiba" value package v1.2.40 (Win7 x 32)

  Then I found & download drivers & utilities. I checked with compatibility in "Windows 7". For two 'Windows 7' - x 32 & x 64 platforms... I'll find some utilities - Touch "Toshiba" & launch, its virtual, DVD - RAM software "Toshiba", silent acoustics, also central control Catalyst "ATI"... Here's a question open for me. But no problem, it's easy willingness...

  Then I install "Windows 7" x 64 ultimate (I managed to install "Windows 7" x 32 & drivers, before utilities).

  Always install the following drivers:

  Intel Chipset device software v9.2.0.1021 (Win7 x 32 & x64);)

  Everything worked fine! But yesterday I had the installation of material of "Toshiba" and receive the runtime error message! I know that "Toshiba" HW should be compatibility with BIOS!   You wrote a very interesting announcement, but, as you can see, almost ten days later there is no one comment. From time to time I m here in this forum and I have noticed that people are not interested to read these stories.
  Problem is that you gave a lot of information and who should write the serious answer must create real concept how to proceed and has spent a lot of time for the full discussion.

  I put also t have time for an in-depth analysis, but what I can say is follow:
  If you want to install more recent OS on the old model of laptop as a first step, you should check if your model (your is PSMA1E) is supported for the operating system you want to install. I can see your model is not supported for 64-bit OS, just for 32 bit Win7.

  So what to do?
  You must have a list of all hardware components and try to install the drivers available for other models of laptops. Some 64 bit Vista drivers can be used on Win7. HwSetup designed for 64-bit Vista should work fine on your Win7 installation. I did several times in the past, and each time it worked fine.

  Toshiba touch & maybe I get m wrong but this old tools is known to me for WXP only. I've never seen in Vista or Win7.
  Virtual sound the same as for T & l. it was designed for Windows XP Home edition only.
  Two others can be also for WXP only.

  If you don t have such tools for Vista you'll them for Win7 too.

  I can't see a suitable driver for win7. the internet has this model for dos and win3.1 and winxp driver. even win vista is used the compatible driver for it. However, win7 provide printers less and any marks in the system. How can I download a driver to be used in win7? Thank you.

  I got an email notification that it has been an answer to my original question, but couldn't find it on the forum. First time user!
  Here's the info so I have asked me to help solve my problem.
  1. the model number of the drive is external hard drive Iomega 1 TB 31758600 LDHD-UP S/N: 97AW 1321 B1
  2 spin Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 7 Professional. I don't know how to turn it off!
  3 PC has been recently upgraded to Windows 7 Professional to Windows XP Professional.
  4. when I'm trying to back up to the top of my old Quicken 2002 personal finance software I get the error message that the drive are not available despite appearing as an ikon in "My Computer".
  5. I'm trying to backup Quicken data.
  Hope you can help me solve this problem. I have an another external hard drive with two USB connections, who does not have this problem. My Iomega hard drive has a USB connection and requires an external power supply, and therefore comes with a plug.

• Sharing printers between Win7 and XP

  I'm trying to share a printer connected to my XP desktop with my laptop Win7 and having problems with the drivers.

  I talked to Epson and they say that it is only possible to share printers if Win7 is the host and refuse to look at what if this isn't the game to the top.  Microsoft doesn't offer any support that you don't pay for, what is the situation?  You can share a printer XP welcomed with a Win7 machine?

  If your XP system is the 32-bit version and your Windows 7 system is 64-bit, then you might have some problems unless you install a driver 64 bit on Windows 7 system.  You can do on this side of the WIndows 7 form creating a port of the form \\xpsystem\printer and 64-bit printer installation.  "xpsystem" is, of course, name of your XP system and "printer" is the part of the printer.   There isn't any residential group activated on the computer, but I recently changed the creation of connections of residential group "user accounts and passwords...". "to"allow Windows to manage the homegroup connections... ". ». Normally the files and printers, sharing on public networks is always set to "disable." After login on the computer yesterday, I happened to check in the sharing settings and found that file sharing has been enabled on public networks. I immediately turned off again, but when I woke up once again the computer from sleep mode, today I found that files and printers, sharing on public networks had been reactivated file sharing.

  I wonder if this behavior is related to the homegroup connections settings? Another probable cause?

  The issue you reported has arisen because of changes in the homegroup settings. As you ' permit Windows manage the homegroup connections "in the homegroup settings, it makes sharing settings to get turned on when you restart the system.   Hello there I'm having some problems with Quicken 2007 on my Windows 7 computer, see whenever I have pin the app of my taskbar and save my document in PDF format. the program ends somehow auto withdraw from the task bar, or else it says that it cannot find my printer in my devices and printers. I wonder if there is some sort of bug with the program and if someone met it so they can help me to bypass would be more appreciated thanks. my laptop current Windows 7 is 32 bit and I don't know if I should upgrade my current Quicken to a newer version or if this can be worked around.

• OfficeJet 8620 two problems one) Win7 firewall connection wifi and b) the printer multi-network

  Bought the printer this afternoon and set up a computer - connection to a printer with wifi as advised in the closed paper work and CD. No problems.

  When I put it in place of the second computer (with wifi) using the CD provided, I received an error message that the hp software can see the given IP address printer but he could not automatically connect using the "typical connection method. Looking at the Win7 firewall, all HP printer software are checked for the home network and the public.   That leads to the second problem:

  A couple of my computers are ethernet only. No wifi. When I plug ethernet to the 8620, it defines an IP address for itself on ethernet, but he abandoned the wifi IP address. How can I feel some ethernet connected computers and some wifi connected ones.

  Any constructive advice is VERY WELCOME.

  Thanks for letting me know that worked for you.

  I suggest the setting up of a static IP address. In this way the router will always assign the same IP address to the printer.

  Printer does not keep the wireless connection.
