& quot; Click here to activate and use this control & quot;

I have a few animated flash buttons on my web page and they used to work properly. However, recently I am getting an error of Explorer 6 sp 2. When I rollover the text, I get a rectangle around the text, and a message that says "click to activate and use this control". I don't get the same error with Firefox. I mucked with the security settings, but if anyone knows just--I'm tired and want the answer.

It is not strictly an error message. This is the new feature of IE
(presented in the Update April 2006 for IE6) to comply with a decision
against the Microsoft patent infringement.

It is raised by the and tags on your page. It is also
triggered by the tag. Content imported into a Web page by these
Methods is known as active content and now requires an extra click
activate it and interact with it.

The solution rests ultimately with the Web designers who are now invited
by Microsoft and Adobe etc to carry out active in content controls
their sites via Javascript rather than HTML tags.

Some information:
http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Eolas

Microsoft IE6 & IE7 (currently in beta) are the only browsers to
This step because it is only from Microsoft that Eolas has appeared in court.
Apparently Eolas said to the Open Source community (FF, etc.) that it will not
hunting them (shallower pockets?).

Microsoft could have simply a use of the Eolas patent license but chose
to change their behavior of browser instead (in Exchange for some "light"
changes of code required by web developers all over the world)

  • CLICK HERE TO ACTIVATE AND USE THIS CONTROL

Hi everyone, I'm pretty much computer illiterate but I was wondering if there was a way of not having to "click to activate and use this control" every time an activex, built-in flash element is in a Web page. Can someone direct me how to change that?

I have Service Pack 2 for Windows XP
    Internet Explorer Version 7.0

    Thank you.

Thank you for all the quick responses. I did google it and found there is a tool from Microsoft, you can download that solves this problem, BUT you may not have Internet Explorer version 6 to make it work. Well, guess I'll be clicking to use this control.

    Thank you all.

  • Click to activate and use this control

Whenever I go to a website and scroll on flash animation, a small box appears around the film. If you hold the mouse pointer here for a second he says "click to activate and use this control". It seems to be a security feature. Niether one of my computers did this a week ago and now all of a sudden they do both. Does anyone know why it does this and how to make it stop? Thank you!

I found an answer on the Macromedia forums. If you follow the instructions exactly it will work fine. The link to the whole subject is Forum of Macromedia/Adobe. Here's a quote from the first post.

    [quote]
Microsoft has started to deploy an update that changes the way IE treats the ActiveX controls:
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/ieupdate/

MS offer some workaround solutions, all of them involved changing the way the object tag is written to the page, but here's a much easier solution that I came with:

Create a javascript file called, say. Ieupdate.js containing the 4 lines of code at the end of this post.

Then, at the bottom of the page that contains the Flash (Shockwave, Quicktime etc) add a reference to this file:

    And that's all!

It works simply by replacing the contents of the object by itself. This external rewriting the tag is only sufficient for IE accept that your code requires no activation of the user. The outerHTML function works only under IE, but that IE is the only browser concerned which is OK.

You could test for IE using your favorite method (document.all, etc.), and instead of add at the bottom of the page you can add the code to a window.onload function, depending on what works best for your site.

If users have JavaScript disabled then your site will work as before.

Hope that some people find it useful.

    theObjects .outerHTML = theObjects.outerHTML;

  • Why 'Bookmaks' menu choice "to bookmark all tabs", removed the 5.o version, I have loved and used this valuable feature almost every day!

This feature was version 3.6.18, why you would remove version 5.0! It allowed users to mark all the tabs open on the current window and give it a name. This impressive
feature allowed the user to save all open tabs in the event of a failure of the system or power failure, or other.

Bookmark all tabs is always available:

    • Right-click on a tab and choose "bookmark all tabs".
    • CTRL + SHIFT + D
    • Using the menu bar
      • Press the ALT or F10 key to temporarily show the menu bar
      • While the menu bar is displayed, click bookmarks > bookmark all tabs

Information included in your message shows that you use Firefox 3.0.19 to ask your question. This version of Firefox is old, is no longer supported and probably has security problems. You should switch to Firefox 3.6.18 or Firefox 5, the only versions currently supported.

  • Changes to the definition that is not reflected in the program using this control type.

    Hello

I'm having a problem with a type definition, that once I have make changes by adding another element to the enum changes do not appear in the program and the program control is grayed.  I had this problem yesterday, but just decided to remove the type definition file and rebuild a new.  But today when I did change the enum in the program say it is disabled.  I joined the program and the control file.  I wish you to know why I'm having this problem since it seems to happen whenever I make a change to the control.  I am running LabVIEW 2010 on a Dell dimension 2400 using Windows XP with service pack 3 5.1.2600.  I was wondering if LabVIEW 2010 has all the questions running on XP which can cause this kind of problem.

I tried your program in 2010sp1 and in 2011, and I have no problem. Once you modify the type definition and add items to the enum, the instances will become gray until you 'apply changes' or 'save' the typedef. After that, all instances of the typedef is updated with new items.
