Now install the new hard drive, then restore the partition recovery and BONE using disks 3 recovery media that you have created, insert disk boot disks 1 and follow invites it. After you install the new copy of the OS with the drivers, you can recharge your backup from rescue and recovery backups that you burn to DVD or stored on the external hard drive.

• Hitachi external hard drive not detected on Windows 7. Disk Management displays "No Media"

OP: New computer with Windows 7 cannot display files on external hard drive Hitachi

My Hitachi hard drive is compatible with Windows 7. This hard drive was working properly with my old computer using Windows XP. I can see the device in the Device Manager, but I can't view the files. In disk management, the drive is listed at the bottom of the screen, but said "No Media", however there is almost 50 GB of data stored.

The hard drive shows in the list of devices and printers when I opened that folder, but does not appear in the list of hard drives on my computer.

I still don't understand what happened, but I've decided how to fix it.

After trying my hard drive locked on 4 computers with Windows installed (two with Windows 7) and two with XP and having no success, I decided to plug it into a computer using a Linyx OS (Obuntu). The computer recognizes my hard drive and open. Then I was able to use the Windows System. I managed to freeze hard drive again and he cured the same way. Maybe this will help also, if you have access to a computer with this operating system. Maybe a mac would also work.

• Satellite U940 - Random BSOD after replacing HARD drive

Good day ladies and gentlemen!

I was wondering if I can win some lights here - as I google myself in a bunch of flange on the issue, I have!

I am a famous computer technician (modest too) and more recently, a client of mine introduced me to a ultrabook Satellite U940 - lovingly with the SSD / HDD Raid 0 configuration running our beloved Windows 8.

All things according to their entire course - Hitachi hard drive failed (as google tells me is to be expected).

So, I replace the hard drive by a great little number Western Digital, cloned from Hitachi, sector by sector, and after a significant cajoling with bcdedit and bootrec amount, I could so he could begin our good liked Windows 8.

However, since then, I have random BSOD, cold boots failed and all sorts of errors.

I ran all the regular patches - SFC/scannow, chkdsk/r, Windows 8 repair facilities, etc., but it is still volatile jolly.

Things seem not to be as they were with this Satellite little ol '-before any repair, the peripheral device manager showed two "RAID 0' in the category of hard drives, and since then it shows the individual SSD and the WD HARD drive."

I've updated the driver for the Intel Rapid Storage at latest on the Toshiba site, but nothing helps - alas!
The weird part is that if I do a reboot on this little beauty, she starts without any problems, but a start cold after a power off is a completely different question - dummy - spit crashing, dumping, in general!

If there is a troubleshooting there champion who can destroy my help in this situation, I'd be very impressed and never have if they could provide assistance in this regard.

Unfortunately Microsoft - are we are all end by using these products of ever-so-pretty Appl?

Hello

I read in some discussions here in this forum only after replacing the disk SSD or HARD drive, the RAID configuration is lost and must be rebuilt on a device Windows 8.

But this can be done very easily, and this can be corrected by an authorized Toshiba because this procedure requires special tools and utilities.

Unfortunately, it seems to me that you will need to contact the ASP in your country to get this problem resolved :(

• Satellite Pro M70 - what HARD drive can you recommend?

I have Satellite Pro M70 and I have a 60GB HDD that I see what it s SATA 8 MB of buffer memory. The processor it s 1.73 GHz. I see that there is the Samsung typical 160 GB and the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 160 GB at the same price, which is better?

And for only $ 11 more there's a Scorpio blue Western digital 320 with even 8 MB buffer than other 2. But I don t think so 320, that's a lot for Satellite Pro M70, and I have an external drive 2.5 "250 GB, data with this is not problem.

What the best solution for this laptop? I don t want to burn now the phone LOL.

Thank you

Hello

If your laptop is already equipped with SATA interface, you can use each HDD with SATA1 or SATA2 port on the new SATA interface there is no limit on the old standard IDE

It s your choice what HARD drive you buy because I put t know your needs, but in my opinion it makes no difference which manufacturing you buy the HARD drive. All hard drives are similar and there is no significant difference (performance).
I made good experiences with Western Digital and Hitachi hard drives.

By the way: you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 rpm or 5400.rpm. Latter is faster but requires more power. In my opinion, this is useful if you often work with large files.

• Portege M200 - the hard drive failed

My 60 GB Toshiba hard drive failed in my Portege M200.

I tried mounting a hard drive, I had in my old laptop, a 30 GB Hitachi hard drive but the laptop doesn't seem to recognize it. Does need a Toshiba hard drive or is the laptop died, when I put the hard drive in I get message invalid startup disk.

The old hard drive goes to a blue screen then restart the laptop.

No there not Toshiba HDD only. I found the list of some compatible hard drives for this old Portege.
You can use follow hard drives:
-TOSHIBA HDD2193B
-TOSHIBA HDD2171B
-TOSHIBA HDD2184B
-TOSHIBA HDD2194B
-HITACHI G8BC00014410
-HITACHI G8BC00014610
-HITACHI G8BC00015610
-HITACHI G8BC00014810

Anyway, when you try to use new BIOS to check updated HARD drive and if default settings the new HARD drive will be recognized correctly in the BIOS settings.

Old HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS settings?
Have you tried to install the OS by using old HDD?

Then he had an adjustment while I was doing something fairly tedious and hard drive seems to be stuffed.

I tried another hard disk of 40 GB, but it was not recognized when you try to install windows xp and ubuntu.

Hello!

This pretty old laptop is equipped with a limitation of LBA 28 bits. This means that you can use a HARD drive up to 128 GB s or let say a 120 GB HARD drive.
Here you can read interesting information on this limitation: [www.48bitlba.com]

Normally, you can choose each up to 120 GB HARD drive with IDE interface.
Have what HDD 40 GB you tried? I have good experiences with Seagate and Hitachi hard drives.

• Satellite A30: HARD drive, modem and USB controller

Hi, I have problems with my laptop A30. The HARD drive looks like it will fail (bad sectors) utility that I downloaded on the Hitachi site tells me that it is a hardware failure.

I am also unable to use my modem that I also get a "cannot open port ' error even if everything looks fine in Device Manager and I have a problem with a USB controller that is apparently not entirely installed but I can not find the drivers for it!

I am not a happy customer of Toshiba and it seems that there is a general failure with these the 30 GB Hitachi hard drives!

Retro Hi,

Maybe not much consolation, but my original 30 GB hard drive has been replaced after only 6 weeks of use. The replacement lasted 8 weeks and the third disc rotate a little better at 16 weeks. Readers were a mixture of Toshiba and Hitachi drives. After the failure of the third car, I decided to buy a bigger HDD (80 GB) and install it myself rather than lose the laptop for another two weeks so that it has been repaired. Then, I bought a new smaller HARD drive that I have installed in an external enclosure (USB) which I use now for regular backups of entire system weekly.

The HARD drive inside my A30 notebook on the right side directly on the optical drive, and there was a noticeable temperature increase when I work with the optical drive. I have a theory for pets, this increase in heat may adversely affect the HARD drive at times.

The last drive (a Toshiba MK8025GAS) is in place for 7 months but Norton Ghost has recently begun to report bad sectors so it looks like a new drive could soon be made to order.

• Pavilion M8530F Maximum hard drive recognized.

I am interested in buying a 3 or 4 TB Seagate hard drive, probably, that is the same model as the computer came with. The computer will recognize the new hard drive?

I bought a WD 2 TB harddrive, which recently failed. When I received it's new, the computer would not properly format the hard drive. I had to plug in a removable drive and shaped this way. Once it has been formatted I could then pile it on the HP computer and it works normally. But reformats later will have to be done on the removable drive.

Computer was shipped with a hard drive of the Nvidia 750,2 G band. So, that is the max, that will see the computer and the format successfully?

Thank you.

Hello

Yes, I tried 2 TB or less. The M8530f is a not the UEFI bios so you won't be able to use a 3 TB to full capacity as boot drive. You should be able to use it as a reader only hard data with few exceptions closely.

Take a look at this brief Hitachion the drives of 2 TB. Why Hitachi? I have six Hitachi hard drives, ranging from 1.5 to 3.0 to. Seagate did a good hard drive and I'm sure you can find similar technical information on the use of HDs that exceed 2 TB.

Drivers aren't going to solve a hardware faulty motherboard problem.

• replacing hard drive for Pav P7-1240 & SSD

Part 1: I have a desktop computer Pavilion P7-1240. It is just 1.5 years... 1 TB Hitachi hard drive has not now. I went out and bought a WD 1 TB Caviar Black internal Performance Desktop retail hard drive Kit (WD1003FZEX); go mainly for the guarantee of 5 years... the rest of the features seemed to match (3.5 ", 7200, 1 to, SATA 6) except the WD a 64 MB cache, the Hitach did not state on the player the amount of cache. Will this swap drive out like for like or any other change in the drivers, etc. should be done?

Part 2: I would like to install a 128 GB SSD in the P7 as the main OS drive. What changes should be made so that the system recognizes the additional disk. I tried to plug into the SATA4 slot and the power cable, but the system did not not recognize/see the SSD drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated for these two. Thanks in advance.

Hello

I return the drive and get a non-advanced HD format. This way your recovery media, HP will work. If you do not create the external HP recovery media then contact HP support and order media.

In addition I send back the SSD and order 240 + GB model so that the support of HP recovery will allow a restoration works. If you decide to go with this option, then keep the hard drive for now. It may be "well-prepared" once you have Windows 7 running with the latest updates. At least BIOS settings have been tampered with then the SSD is probably dead.

While there may be other ways to get your PC up in the race without using the HP recovery media, this can and has led to confusion later when start HP function keys do not work properly.

• Make a real hard drive when replacing my hard drive? (Envy 14)

Hello

My hard drive to 500 GB got crashed. My laptop is in warranty period. Technician was ordered to new disk hard too.

But my question is, can I get a drive hard as it came with my laptop. They should provide the No.? because, due to drive problem hard, I lost my premium windows 7 recovery discs and all. I will be happy if yes.

You must have created a disc of recovery for just this issue. Hard drive will have the same characteristics, but may not be the exact same model. The replacement drive will be empty, no OS, no recovery partitions. If you need a restore disc, you can probably buy one from HP.
