R61i Vista - wireless in Device Manager

A few months ago I bought Lenovo R61i 8918 DMG TP, cleaned and installed Vista Business. I remember problems with the wireless installation (I am not some time I installed it before or after bluetooth, if it's important), as I have used wired LAN at the time, I disabled wireless with Fn + F5.

After that, I upgraded my Vista with SP1.

A few days ago I had to go wireless, so I checked Fn + F5 to discover wireless is missing it. Then I found that there is no wireless connection icon and "manage wireless network connections" in the network and sharing Center. Also wireless in the Device Manager. It is in the other devices category, a "network controller", but I can not reinstall it (by clicking on this button) and tab pilot (properties, driver, Driver Details icon), it is said that no driver is required or have been loaded for this device.

Wireless/network switch is on.

I don't have the old restore points.

Wireless is enabled in the BIOS.

I tried to install then uninstalled logins since I do not use it.

I tried to manually install the driver (7rwv10ww.exe) wireless

Help, please

Thanks for big fish greetings,

solution was actually too obvious (I spent 10 hours similar problems playing with Lenovo wireless on different advice), I figured it out of luck:

1. fact: most similar problems were when people have moved from Vista to XP, or to a lesser extent from XP to Vista (my case).

-Since Ath or Int (I found only for XP) without wire worked, I downloaded the drivers wireless directly from Intel. There are three files to download, first of all, the wireless detection tool was unnecessary, said I don't have the wireless card, second was the files, one-third are pilots developer 200 MB I don't need. Installed it and his work so far. (I don't know where I got these Atheros drivers and messed up, but now it is finally working).

I recently tried to use my CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and it did not work. It was working fine a few days previously but now... Nothing.

My first reaction was to open Windows Explorer, expand and look at computer. There was my C drive and the recovery Partition but no Opitical drive more.
Then I opened the Device Manager and saw that the CD was registered it is more as well?

    My question is

Vista automatically removes the CD-ROM drive in the list of Device Manager if there is a problem with the drive itself?

Or is there something that happened this suppression the CD-ROM in Device Manager list and it is not a problem with the drive itself?

I had a disc go bad before on a PC running Windows 98 and 2000, but the disc stayed in the Manager list but I'm pretty new to Vista and know things are very different. So before we get in panic Mode, I thought that it would be a good idea to ask where someone will know probably for sure.

    -----------------------------------

    If no joy:

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

  • Vista Home Premium Device Manager empty

After plugging in a USB stick for laptop my wife and successfully copying data to the hard disk, I noticed that there is no icon to the icon 'Remove hardware safely' in the system tray.  I checked under the taskbar properties to make sure that the icon was set to 'Show' and it was, but still no icon.

Then, I opened the Device Manager, which shows nothing - completely empty.  I also noticed that my network connections were empty as well.

I googled and found several forums display solutions for this problem with XP but not Vista.  I checked services and reviewed the registry as suggested in many forums, but have not yet resolved the issue.

I also applied SP2 of Vista in the hope that it would help; He did not.  He has also deleted all my previous restore points if this isn't an option at this point.

I'm ready to re - install the OS but prefers to find the problem and fix it.  All suggestions welcome.

  • Satellite T130 - no adapter in Device Manager wireless

I only logged to the internet yesterday. The internet worked fine, but on closing, I got the first round of Windows updates. Now, I have exactly the same situation - no adapter wireless in Device Manager, no unknown or 'other' devices (some posts suggested driver update for these then it will recognize). I hadn't played a bit with the parameters of system at all (only had the laptop for a month) and even to restore before I had internet didn't return. Interestingly, when I turn on the computer the 'internet' LED on my router flashes for a few seconds - suggesting some communication that I am the only one connected computer. Also, as it worked well before (and the laptop has not yet been moved) I don't think many responses to messages on "hardware problems. After seeing a lot of similar questions in this area and the US forum, I wish I had never bought this laptop. Because I did see all messages with a solution outside taking in the service center!

I really want to go down the road of service center with a PC brand new. I will never buy Toshiba unless they offer me a downloadable solution / phone when I call them tomorrow.

I really hope someone Toshiba takes all these messages seriously. Don't be a Toyota.

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest I n don't know what problem you have.

First it is not important whether your laptop is new or not. These problems can happen on all computers, even if they are only a few days old. All parts are electric parts and can still die. No one is able to tell when it happens or can avoid this.
For example, with a new car, you may also have problems after a few days and then you're also going to point service. ;)

    Back to your problem:
You can try to restore the factory settings. If that doesn t work, this seems to be a hardware malfunction, but make sure that the wireless network adapter is enabled with the FN + F8 key combination.

I doubt that someone from Toshiba will read your ad. It s only a user to user forum where you can talk with normal users. Toshiba isn't your first point of contact, it s still the supplier of services.

Here, you can search an ASP in your country:

Good luck and I hope I could help a bit! :)

  • Device Manager shows two different processors on Satellite P200 - 1 K 9

    Hello
I just bought P200 - 1 K 9 and spotted (Vista 32-bit) Device Manager shows two different processors under the section of processors:

    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 @ 2.40 GHz CPU

I expected to see the two excatly the same processors here.

Vista recognizes in general CPU core 2 duo 2.4 GHz, BIOS too.
What is on the Device Manager?

Is there something wrong with the CPU? Should I return it better?
Would you please check your processor in Device Manager (start-> right click on computer-> select Properties-> Device Manager) and let me know what you have?

I'll start some live linux CD and check there too.

    Thank you
    Miroslaw

    Hi mate,

the you´ve got problem is not a problem. It s just a simple bug in the Vista Device Manager and hardware abstraction layer.
    Follow these steps:
Remove the CPU from the Device Manager (uninstall just like any other device) and then restart windows. The processor will be indicated correctly next time you reboot the system.

  • Is there anything I can change/device manager/cmd Vista for my job wireless in the slot 2 PCI?

    System:
    E Machine T5086
Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP2
    Intel Pentium 4 3 GHz
    2gigs RAM
    MOBO: 4006173RIntel (Coryville 2) 945G Motherboard
Wireless card: Hawking HWPG1 device name of PCI card wireless 802.11 g: Ralink RT61 Turbo Wireless LAN Card

    Background:
I recently installed a PCI-E ATI Radeon HD4650 gfx 1gig card. Unfortunately, with the fan attached, it's a bit too thick to sit safely far from my wireless card that is located in the upper part of the PCI slot. So, I took and it goes down a slot. (I have only 2 pci slots, a pci-e). The card is recognized, the drivers are installed, it is part of the work, there is no conflict, no exclamation, nothing in Device Manager. However, the internet does not work, and he recorded as "disconnected" or "disabled" in the network and sharing Center. So, when I look for to connect to networks, none never appear. I have other computers in the House. Wireless works fine on all others, showing our fine network. The card worked previously above the slot without any problems and always done if I put it back in there. -I don't understand the pci card is a little old, however, the way it has worked well in the first period, I don't want to buy a new wireless card, only to have it also not work in slot 2. It is very possible, there just a problem with this slot, not sure how determine that. Looking for a Windows hotfix.

Also: No. I am not return my gfx card for a 'thin' (which also means diminished gfx capabilities). : P if there is really no viable, I'll get a good wireless USB adapter, however if someone of you recommend.

    Troubleshooting based on other threads:
*. Tried to change all the settings in the pci bios. There is nothing to resolve. My particular bios does not have very many parameters to set except the activation or deactivation of devices General.

    1. I uninstalled the drivers and the software wireless is related (through the Uninstall/Change & Device Manager), then allowed the system to detect and ask to install it again in the same session. (I have a configuration saved in my folder for download from hawking.)

    2. uninstalled wireless again. Restarted. Reinstalled.

3 uninstalled. Stop. Out of the wireless card. Starting without a card. (idk why) Stop. Return the card. Started & reinstalled.

4 uninstalled. Starts in Mode safe. Reinstalled.

5 documented IRQ settings. IRQ 22 is used by my wireless card and the "High Definition Audio". So tried combinations of uninstalling/disabling audio through settings manager & bios of the device, uninstalled audio software and then installed the wireless card (Eitherway, both devices specify "no conflict" while two permits.)

    6. check my diary of events for apparently relevant errors. Don't know what than a bunch of other things from the East, but is "WARNING: autoconfiguration WLAN Service stopped successfully." So, who researched and tried a few corrections: cmd > netsh > wlan > set autoconfig enabled = yes interface = "wireless network adapter" I get "no such wireless device found." I also tried with "wireless network connection" that I got the same error.

    7. in respect of the above, I tried cmd in admin mode > sfc/scannow > came into services to start the wlan. But these instructions fail because it is already started / auto services.

    8. Finally uninstalled all my ATI software and released the gfx card. Also uninstalled the wireless. Restarted. Re-installed the wireless.

9 tested back in first Pci wireless. Works. Put back in place in the 2nd, does not work. Gfx card is always out ATM plugged into a cable LAN to have internet at the moment. I was surprised that winupdate found a update for my wireless card, but I have install the driver was the one I used when remembered first install the card waaay back when. Eitherway. Updated. It still does not.

    10. I tried through the Hawkings own connection utility: "Utility of zero Configuration." "passage" to zeroconfig fails or seems to do nothing. ZeroConfig also register my card wireless as "disconnected."

About to give up because I'm not sure what I can try. I read on attempt to failover to ACPI standard, but I don't have the windows cd. Other methods to do it without the CD and by Device Manager were futile because the options were there to do. The purpose of the level crossing was to attempt to circumvent the automatic IRQ assignment in case that is the question, I'm going to.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give an idea. Clues or comments are appreciated just to help me to work along, even if we don't find the right solutions. There are quite a few others "hit my 2nd slot, no internet wireless ' sick out there. Hope that eventually you will help all out.

    Hello

It's probably the shared IRQ that creates it.

Get a wireless connection of USB you can connect with a USB extention cable and place it over the system and it should work.

I have a toshiba satellite L40-139 and I just instaled windows 7 64 bit on it. Since that time my atheros wireless device will not work. I tried updating the driver and windows but nothing.
In the device manager says code 10 DEVICE can NOT START.

    Help, please!

    Thank you!

    Hello

    If you read here:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/943104

The Code 10 error code is generated when the Device Manager has not enough information or error that spread upwards by device drivers is not recognized by Device Manager.
Then, go to the page of the driver and update the driver. If you do not have to win 7, try the vista driver.

  • T400 no wireless device not detected in Device Manager.

    Hello

I have a problem. I bought a new T400. As for specification - it has WLAN (EAN: nm322us).

    Dealer information:

    Wireless network Yes

    Standards wireless a/g/n

Type of wireless card Intel WiFi Link 5300AGN

But no wireless network card detected (in Device Manager), when the computer starts.  No in the bios for the WLAN mac address. So, where is a problem? A dealer cheated me and there is no WLAN in this computer? Or are there problems with the detection of devices of MS Windows Vista Business? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Solved. The problem was that activate WLAN in BIOS was 2 places -strange. Update BIOS maybe after. Before the upgrade - as usual-, I looked in the network section (to activate WLAN). There was no option, besides, to activate the wired network. I don't know if it was in the other section (System i/o ports) before the BIOS update, but in my opinion - in any case, it's strange to Wired and wireless in separate sections network devices. Thank you very much for the help.

  • Wireless dead after reinstalling Windows. Device Manager can't see the map

    Hello

I have a laptop model Lenovo 3000 N200 14W 0687.  It was teeming with virus so I wiped the hard drive and installed Windows XP Home Edition from scratch.  Now Device Manager can't see the wireless adapter and Wireless does not work.  I tried to download and install the Wireless driver on the Lenovo site (I don't have a disc of relocation); but I got errors.  Anyone know what could cause this and a fix?

If you are interested, here are the details of what happened when I tried to download and install the drivers:

Device Manager gives me the adapters three following network:
    Network adapter 1394
    Broadcom NetLink (TM) Fast Ethernet
    MAC bridge Miniport

None of which resemble wireless cards. So I used the link http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ot/en/DriversDownLoads/Drivers.htmlto try out. Enter my serial number L3X3516 took me to a support page client lenovo that says

Total 13 drivers need to be repaired/upgraded, 9 drivers in need of repair, please click the "Download" button to begin to repair

    One of them was this:

    Intel (r) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection

I downloaded it and it says: 'the contents of this file cannot be unpacked. the executable file that you are trying to run has been damaged. You can get another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and then try again"

So I used google to find this site:

    http://www.getpcmemory.com/drivers/download-Lenovo-3000-N200-type-0769-notebook-Windows-XP-Vista-DRI...

who told me that my computer is a Lenovo 3000 n200 Type 0687.

Using google once again, I found this page:

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-68011

which was another version of the driver. So I downloaded and unpacked it. I then took a glance at the .txt guide provided with the driver. It is said:

    1. Start Windows XP and log on with administrative privileges.

    2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.

       The default location is C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\WLLANINT

    3. Click Start, then click Run...

    4. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the

package in step 2, and click OK.

       Example: C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\WLLANINT\SETUP.EXE

    5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Unfortunately, there is no setup.exe file in the folder so this has failed.

    Hello

Usually, if you have a laptop wireless switch should have a wireless LAN card too. In your case I would try to install the driver. Then the WLAn card should appear correctly in Device Manager:
