Radiator fan works in passive cooling of the political system (Thinkvantage Power Manager 3.62)

Hi all.

I have a model thinkpad T60 2008 and how it works on Windows 7. Everything was fine. Two weeks ago, I noticed that he would get a little warmer than usual. It was a year that I opened it, I decided to a maintenance operation. I used the manual and opened the computer laptop, gently removed the heat sink, use the air compressed to remove dust and reinstalled. I also put a drop of thermal paste on the processor peas for good measure. Put all back together and it runs a lot cooler.

I usually use my laptop running on battery Maximum when unplugged, and for this I keep the political liabilities cooling system. My question is, the fan should run in this mode? Because since I fixed it, my heatsink fan is running in passive mode (never noticed before running in passive mode) and I think it is running my battery time past.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem or if this is normal will be appreciated. Have a nice day together.

-Ibrahim.

In passive mode, the temperature threshold for what fan comes in is increased, then the fan would turn up to maximum speed only when it reaches a higher temperature. But the fan will always kick.

When replace you the radiator, make sure that thermal paste is applied correctly, not too much just enough to get a thin layer on the CPU.

I put t know what you did with your operating system, but more often if the system restore option enabled, then it shouldn't be a problem to restore the operating system to the beginning
Simply, start the system restore and choose the starting point that was automatically created.

Also, the only one I have access to power management are reading video and performance.  I tried to uninstall the power manager and the DLL associated with and then put it back, but that did not help.  Also, I don't see any reference to this problem to be solved.  Thanks in advance.  This gets really annoying as I like to use as little energy as possible since I quite often use the computer on battery power.

Well I am still convinced that the option to display the power on the battery meter has been removed from the user interface, but I found a way to fix

It seems that the following registry controls what is displayed:

    'ShowRemainingTimeGauge' =: 00000002

0 is used to display the "remaining percentage.

You did not include the version of your operating system: Windows 7 I guess because you have been deported back to a very early version of the HP SimplePass.

You must consider that you may have a version of your fingerprint driver that is appropriate (fairly recent) to run a newer version of HP SimplePass.  The fact that the old version SimplePass does not at all suggests that you run the version of the driver 4.3.118.0 - this version of the driver is not compatible with subsequent revisions of the SimplePass software.

If your version of the driver (for your OS) is equal to or newer than those listed here, chances are that you can keep your current licence.

If your current driver is older than the driver for your operating system,

  • Satellite P100-324 - GPU overheating due to fan does not work in the operating system

    Hello world.

While trying to solve the problem of RAM of 4 GB ([this thread | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=28374&tstart=0]), I meet another weird thing - gpu overheating due to fan does not work in the operating system.

Now, I restored the XP MCE using the Toshiba Recovery and I was VERY surprised to see that the problem still exists! As soon as loading the system GPU fan stops, and there is only tranquility. The application load is heavy on GPU and reaching 104 results by reducing its GPU and MEMORY clock values and NOT in the activation of the fan.

The same thing happens in 64-bit gentoo. ACPI can be turned on or off, it is not serious, the GPU fan always dies as soon as the system load. In non-OS environments (bios, program of recovery, etc.) the fan works fine, GPU cooling from time to time.

This problem occurs in versions of BIOS: 2.40, 4.00, 4.20.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, since this laptop is my main working tool and I can't let go 14 days (service).

I saw in your other thread that you have updated the BIOS and you have installed several different OS.

Fact is that the BIOS v 4.2 package contains BIOS 32-bit and 64-bit OS.
Your laptop has been preloaded with Win XP MCE 32 bit. Please use the 32-bit BIOS if the original XP MCE running on the laptop.

  • Fan works with performance of 100% from PSAY3 by Satellite P750-10 t

    Hi all

I had a problem with my laptop.

I bought this phone last week and I noticed a few unexpected stops due to overheating. Whenever I have turn on the fan works with approximately 100% of the performance, but when I finally in my OS (Win 7 64 bit as it was delivered) it stops to regulate.

If I start to play games or greater than 1 Adobe product at the same time, it starts to become warmer.
Whenever I check the temperature via Toshiba PC Health Monitor, it shows that the temperature is at a point of chritical but fan runs always with about 30-40% (80% shown)... is not even half as strong as it is after turning on the pc.

I don't know what to do now? Will there be a Toshiba programs/tools to solve this problem?

I tried Speedfan and other programs, but they don't even show my fans.

    Sorry for my bad English.

I think that this happens because of the auto-off before.
I think that the BIOS has noticed the condition of temperature before the laptop off and so the fan run faster just by turning on the device

But he s strange that fans run faster while game or do a job with high performance applications.
In my opinion you need the BIOS default and it should test with factory settings

PS: you have the latest version of the BIOS? The most recent at the moment seems to be v2.40

  • Battery drains Lenovo x 230 quickly in mode "ensure"; Power management centre does not work

I have my laptop lenovo x 230 put to sleep when I close the lid. When I close the lid of the icon of 'sleep' on the back of the screen lights up. But the dough will not last all night on mode 'sleep'. In about five hours, the battery is completely flat, and I have to plug it in and start the system. I've never seen this run poor dough in mode 'sleep' on any laptop I've ever owned.

Another thread in this forum blame the USB port can charge mobile phones, etc. at low specific power and recommend to disable the "always on" option fo this USB port in the Bios settings. I then either it seems to have contributed. At least my laptop still not succeed overnight in mode 'sleep'.

At this point, it seems my ownly option is to use the "sleep mode" only when the laptop is plugged in and the focus mode standby extended when the power of dough, which is disappointing. I've never had to worry about this in the past with other laptops.

  • a serious problem on the power manager

Hello, I'm X 230 user using windows 7 and have improved the ability of the ram to 8 GB.

It is not easy to believe, but I've struggled with this problem for a year.

The problem is, I cannot uninstall the software, Levono supply manager.

That the progress of uninstalling the program indicated by the installation process of Power Manager reached 94%, it's freezing outside here.

Now no matter how much I'm awaiting resolution, it remains still frozen.

Most ridiculous thing it is when I did close the shield installation process and reboot the laptop, Windows could not start

while I do the system restore to roll back.

How can I uninstall Lenovo Power Manager?

    * the reason why should I uninstall it it's done a lot of crushed against the software I use

    Thanks in advance

    Fortunately, I found a solution.

During the uninstallation of the program progress was stuck, instead of restarting, I just ran the shield to uninstall manually at the command prompt. After a while, another unistall process has reached 100% and I managed to uninstall properly.

  • Remove the battery during fixed power supply

    Hello

I was told that the best practice to extend the life of the battery is to delete during fixed power supply (most of the day I'm stationary and near a power source).

My question is, can I do this while the machine is running? Is it safe to just plug in the power and then remove the battery?

    Thank you

    Roee.

    (1) best practices to prolong battery for extended storage should be kept charged between 40 and 60%. If you want to store the battery away or leave it in the laptop will not really affect the longevity of the battery. Also, the battery can act as an inverter, which is desirable in many situations.

You can set the threshold of support under the thinkvantage power manager-> battery-> battery care.

    (2) If you want to remove the battery, you can do in the when the machine is running or you start the laptop without the battery inserted (as long as you have connected the power supply ).

    (3) If you will be running the laptop without the battery with an adapter 65 watts your CPU running at reduced speed to ensure that it has enough power going to the laptop is another system. Only the 90-Watt adapter can provide enough power to run the processor at full speed, without the battery installed.

The last v2.30 Power Manager has some problems.  The program now takes twice as long to load at startup.  This considerably slows the complete boot process.  In addition, the program creates a file named "ATMdump.txt" in the documents folder.  Unfortunately, the file cannot be easily removed.  Even if the file is deleted through safe mode, the file will regenerate during startup.  It seems that the program must use a temp folder hidden as a place of discharge.  Well.
