RALink 3290 802.11bgn adapter Wi-Fi-speed slow

HY,

I have a 4540 s ProBook HP with Windows 7 Pofessional 64 bit and I found that the speed of the wifi is very low. The maximum download speed is 2.8 M/s. Isn't a conection problem because on other devices, I have a speed of 10 M/s. A problem with my WiFi adapter or is the maximum speed for this model (Ralink 3290 802.11bgn)?

Hello entropicu,

I'm not really sure, but I have the feeling that it has been getting worse over time. Suddenly, the internet connection is lost. Troubleshooting gives me different results, most of the time that it is "the default gateway is not available." Sometimes it is fixed, sometimes not. I looked online, what could be the problem. Then I opened my device manager and checked the network card, unchecked "allow the computer to turn off this device...". ", but that did not help. Once the power management tab was not yet available. Sometimes, the card is disabled. Do not know why. Sometimes I can turn it on just by clicking on activate. This average doen't, that I have no internet, only that the adapter is enabled. Sometimes she even let me enable it.

I think that my problem has never been with the WiFi adapter. A month ago, I went to Comcast (with 105 MB/s) to AT & T (with 18 Mbit/s). Since then, I didn't at all connectivity issues. And as incredible as it may seem my internet speed is the same, since the speed of Comcast almost never reached above 20 Mbps. If I would have known that sooner! Would have saved me hours or even days with internet connectivity and problems on the phone with the Comcast people!

Thanks to everyone for their help and advice. Maybe my information can help others with the same questions.

  • MediaTek MT7630E 802.11bgn adapter Wi - Fi does not work in 802.11n mode (mode-N), only G-mode

A few days ago, I got a new notebook HP ProBook 430 G1. OS: Windows 8.1

They have Mediatek MT7630E 802.11bgn Wi - Fi adapter inside.

Problem: I found this wireless adapter does not work in 802.11n mode (mode-N), but works well as in G-mode.

Some modifications in the parameters of the driver on the Advanced tab are problem solved.

I think it's a bug of material, or (less maybe) a bug in the driver.

In other forums, I heard that HP can replace the card wireless, which works well. Is it not?

You misunderstood me. I meant, of course, all channels from 1 to 13.

I solved the problem by unistalling completely all the WiFi and software of the device with its drivers from Control Panel.

Then downloaded latest drivers from site oficial Mediatek.

In the Advanced tab of the new driver settings option appeared - "802.11n direct mode.

After you enable this mode WiFi started working in mode N well.

  • HP Pavilion 2336el g6 and Ralink RT5390R 802.11bgn Wi - Fi adapter

I recently bought this laptop which came with Windows 8, since I hated this OS I he wiped and installed Windows 7 64-bit.

I installed all necessary drivers directly from manufacturers having recovered components via PCI VEN_ID and DEV_ID specifications. Everything is installed correctly. But the wireless adapter gives me problems, namely: the login silently removes all the minutes.

The laptop is really close to my router which is just under my desk and I still see 5 bars of signal strength. My router uses 802. 11 b the Protocol.

I tried to change between static IP and DHCP assigned, change the transmission channel router, disable mode "n" on the wireless card, reinstall the drivers, by disabling NetBIOS services. Nothing seems to solve the problem.

The drivers I use come from here:

    http://www.MediaTek.com/_en/07_downloads/01_windows.php

I noticed an update of Windows on the right wireless adapter came through this morning: now the driver version is 5.0.9.0 and the connection seems stable: it worked for a few hours now. It seems rather strange that pilot the window is no longer updated driver from the manufacturer...

EDIT 28/05/2013: this update seems to have solved the problem. No other problems. Very stable connection even from a distance.

  • RALink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi - Fi adapter issue

    Hello:

See if the latest driver directly from Mediatek works better.

These cards have major connection problems, so if the new driver does not help, I don't know about all other things you can do differently to get a different brand wireless card listed in the service manual for your laptop.  And if there is one, must also have the part number HP on it or it won't work.

Since the beginning, I noticed without wire did not detect signal of 5G of my router, but I was so anxious to perform the installation to the end

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. I tried:

I wonder if I should configure the parameters of the advance of the RT3290 driver

    Thanks in advance

You are the very welcome, Sergio.

I am a consumer like you and do not work for HP, if unfortunately, I do not know what model wireless cards HP installs in their notebooks.

I agree with you, however, that 5.0 GHz has been around for centuries now, and it is high time that HP installs a better dual band $10 card.

I'm sure that people would be happy to pay the extra price.

My understanding is that HP may have removed the white list of BIOS to immobilize the wireless cards are not not in manual work, so you can experiment and see if you can install a dual band card in your notebook.

No guarantee that it will work, but a year ago, I would have told you that it was impossible.

    See this thread.

I understand that your wireless adapter does not work correctly. Just to clarify, can you tell me if you have deleted the Windows update that you believe has problem?

Try to install the drivers for the wireless card: Mediatek 802.11 Wireless LAN Adapter Driver
