RAM limited to 3.75 GB on VM

Hello

I have installed hae Windows Server Ent 2003 X 86 with 8 GB of RAM on ESX4i. The physical box (HP DL 380 G5) has 12 GB of RAM installed and is recognized by the bios. However, on the virtual machine, the total RAM shows only 3.75 GB. According to microsoft W2k3 Ent 32-bit supports up to 64 GB of RAM. I would like to know if there is a limit on the maximum RAM on esx4i.

I thank you and appreciate all help

SRJ

It looks like a limitation of memory for x 86 OS management.

Have you enabled EAP large memory support is available in Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000?

Yes, it will be, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit supports up to 192 GB of RAM. If the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional will unlock this limit through the Express upgrade.

  • The DC7700 RAM limits

I have a HP DC7700 with the motherboard 0A54H.  It came with the 1 GB DDR2 PC2-6400(400MHz) memory stick.  I took 2 sticks of memory 1 GB DDR2 PC2-5300(333MHz) on an old PC and seems to work perfectly.

I was looking at the specs for the DC7700 and he says I can install DDR2 PC2-6400 (800 MHz).   I was wanting to add more, but as I understand it, 32 bit OS can support more 4GB and 64 bit OS can support up to 8 GB.

My HP 0A54H would be able to handle 8GB if I installed 64 bit OS?

    Hello:

    Yes it can.

4 x 2 GB memory PC2-6400 of CMT and LTS.  See page 10.

Since any processor in this PC has at least a 800 MHz front bus, I would not install memory PC2-5300, because it slows things down.

  • Limitation of ESXi 5.1 free Version RAM?

I was under the impression that any RAM limitation had been removed for 5.1, including the free version of ESX. Try using the free version, but it gives an error that we are above the limit of 32 GB.

    Any ideas?

The free version is still limited to 32 GB of physical RAM. It was only the payment of vRAM that was deleted.

  • VMWorkstation forbidden > 8 GB of RAM

VMWorkstation 9.0.2 is being quite a pain on Ubuntu.  I've got Xubuntu 12.04 x 64 running as a guest.  Application of VMWare has been installed through the x 64 Installer.  However, invited all operating systems are limited to 8 GB of RAM as VMWorkstation not to say that it is a 32-bit operating system and not 64-bit.  This is quite incorrect.  The exact same guest OS images may have their RAM extended beyond 8 GB, if used on a host Windows 7 x 64.

Anyway, how can I get VMWorkstation 9.0.2 on Ubuntu x 64 systems to see that it is running on an x 64 kernel?  This RAM limitation makes life a bit difficult.

Have you tried to manually change the memsize to a larger size option in the .vmx config file?  This must be done with the virtual machine to stop, not suspended and he tab in VMware Workstation GUI closed (if VMware Workstation is open).

BTW... The workstation.log is not what was asked if it is the file of vmware.log (or one of its versions incremented as you attached)!

  • RAM or processor?

    Hello

I was working with the 5 raw files from the Canon 5 d MkII and I opened in PS CS5 in the form of layers; I tried to align and use the development of stacking technique, but PS showed me an error about my computer RAM. My computer ha 3 GB of RAM and an Intel 2.53 GHz processor.

My question is: I have just to add more ram or do I have to buy a new pc?

The bottleneck is the 32 bit OS and RAM limited, that's where I would put my money first.

The CPU should do as well for a bit longer. The video card is a bit low power, but Photoshop doesn't require anything better or newer. As long as everything works fine I'd keep it for now.

Change OS on a machine, especially going from 32 to 64 bits, is a major operation which will require planning. Firstly, you will need 64-bit drivers for everything, including the motherboard. And then, just to keep things simple, I think I would exchange the C drive for a new and go from there.

Dual boot is another option, but it will require its own activation of Photoshop.

  • Help! My Macbook Air has a high memory pressure.

Product: Macbook Air in early 2015

    Plug-

    256 GB of flash storage

    1.6 GHz processor

    4 GB memory

    OS X Yosemite - Version 10.10.5

A few weeks memory of my Macbook Air pressure continued to increase, most of the time he was in the green zone, but it has been several times that I had the pressure of memory to be in the yellow box with a few tabs in Google Chrome. In addition, the Kernel_Task continues to rise as it was around 380-390 MB a few weeks ago and now he's moved more than 500 MB. I tried to restart and stop the computer several times as an attempt to decrease the Kernel_Task and even thought that the memory pressure is high, the CPU doesn't have a lot of problems, because it is essentially inactive between 65 and 80 percent.

What it looks like without all the eleven (shown) Google Chrome processes running? You should never see Swap used, and that tells me that you are using too many applications for your 4 GB memory available on your machine. With this RAM limited, you have to be very selective of what applications and browser tabs are open (you use) quit everything.

  • HP 550: updated hp 550 memory and cpu with the unconventional settings. is not ideal, but not other choice

HI guys, I hope you can help or at least give a point in the right direction. I am a freelance photographer with a large part of the suite creative Adobe CS6. After a disaster of a week, I came home to find the motherboard on my editing station is fried somehow. I don't know what happened though I wouldn't put past my inattention of roommates.
I'm desperate. I have to finish my current job until I'm able to afford to buy a replacement. So I have to rely on stop-gap measures, in desperation to finish my project, that are less than ideal, but so far are doing better than I'd hoped.
Im a photographer, Capture One, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro are the go for workaholic applications that I need to work. without them I have no income. in order to have this machine run these applications,
the machine I have left is an old hp 550 that was gathering dust in the closet. It was built for 32 bit Win XP and in no case is designed to run adobe products food pork I use, particularly of Lightroom.
Unfortunately PS with Lightroom and first are 64-bit programs and LR and first are hyper threaded. so I did some research and with the help of the list of the utility windows 7 Advisor to upgrade instructions, I was able to get windows 7 Pro 64-bit to install and run.

I know that this is not the ideal machine or the situation, but for a few weeks, I need to make it work.

I really just 2 simple questions. First of all, I went to the HP technical support. but they were not useful. as the guarantee of the laptop are long gone, they would be not even polite and basically told me to shove off. Then on another forum, I called back and comes with a knowledge it all who constantly insisted on the fact that there was no way no how this pc could run 64 bit win 7, which i thought what am I seeing things? It works very well for 3 months. So I decided to come to you. your forums were useful on many occasions.

Basically, I need this machine to run these programs during the next month or two, until I can buy a new machine.

essentially, what I want to know, it's the motherboard support an upgrade of the processor? and if anything goes, what do you suggest as a substitute, given my needs? The Core 2 duo is the bare minimum of what I can limp with like photo/video rendering times are excessively slow.

then I was talking to the support staff essential tech upgraded memory. and possibly set the bios to force to run 8 gigs of ram. They said that they have cold cannot find any version of bios that would make that possible, but only by forcing already run 64 bit, which has already allowed the pc to use the full 4 GB of ram, which was impossible in the 32-bit format. He suggested that I buy 2 4 gig modules such as 4 GB DDR2 PC2-5300 unbuffered NON - ECC, 1.8V 512Meg x 64 which can be seen at http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/memory/ct51264ac667 and try to install the full 8 concerts and see what would happen, saying that he had a feeling that I might get lucky. his logic is that the 64-bit system already open the ram limits and who knows, you can't make an omelet without cracking of eggshells! It seemed very optimistic. So, what do you think? It seems likely you because I love to work. or do you think the guy was a quack? and this whole endeaver is a waste of time and money?

also, any other suggestions on how to time this month long storm that do not involve suggestions of buying new machines would be appreciated!

Unfortunately, the maximum configuration is a processor T5670 1.8 ghz and 4 GB of DDR2-667 memory, you already have. The CPU includes the 64-bit instructions is not surprising, that it can run Windows 7 64-bit. My best advice is to save your money for when you can get a real working machine. The only other likely to help is a solid state drive, you might use in the laptop and then also use the new computer that you intend to buy.

  • The most effective way to log data and read simultaneously (DAQmx, PDM) high data rates

    Hello

I want to acquire the data of several Modules cDAQ using several chassis to
high data rates (100 k samples per second if possible). Let's say the measurement time is 10 minutes and we got a large number of channels (40 for example). The measured data is written to a PDM file. I guess, the memory or the HARD disk speed is the limits. For the user, there must be a possibility to view the selection of channels in a graph during the measurement.

My question: what is the best and most effective way to save and read data at the same time?

First of all, I use an architecture of producer-consumer and I don't want to write and display the data in the same loop. I expect two possibilities:

[1] to use the 'DAQmx configure logging.vi' with the operation 'journal and read' to write the data to a PDM file. To display the data in a second loop, I would create a DVR samples documented and 'sent' the DVR for the second loop, where the data will be displayed in a graph (data value reference). This method has the disadvantage that the data of all channels is copied into memory. Correct me if I'm wrong.

[2] use 'DAQmx configure logging.vi', but only with the "journal" operation to write the data to a PDM file. To view the selected data, I had read a number of samples of the TDMS file in the second loop (I'm currently writing the TDMS file). In this case, I have only one copy data from the selected channels (not), but there will be more HARD drive accesses necessary.

What is the most effective and efficient solution in this case?

Are there ways to connect and read data with high frequencies of sampling?

    Thank you for your help.

You say that the measurement time is 10 minutes. If you have 40 channels and you enjoy all CHs at 100 kHz, it is quite a number of values.

In this case, I always try to approach under the conditions of use. If a measure is only 10 minutes, I just connect all PDM data and create a graphic module that could be in the same loop of consumers where connect you the data. You can always work on the raw data files big offline afterwards, the extraction of all the information you need (have a look at the product called NI DIAdem: http://www.ni.com/diadem/)

The main issue is that the user needs to see in the graph (or perhaps a chart can be useful too). Lets say that the graph is 1024 pixels wide. It makes no sense to show multiple data to 1024 points, Yes? Every second will produce you 100 data points k per channel. What is the useful information, which should see your username? It depends on the application. In similar cases, I usually use some kind of data reduction method: I use a moving average (Point by point Mean.VI for example) with a size of the interval of 100. This way you get 100 data points of 1000 per channel every second. If you feed your graph every second with these average values, it will be able to data points in 1024 of the store (as a default) by channel (curve), which is a little more than 10 minutes, so that the user will see the entire measurement.

So it depends on the frequency at which you send data to the consumer. For example, collect you values 1024 by iteration of the producer and send it to the consumer. Here you can make a normal means calc or a bearing (according to your needs) and he draw a graphic. This way your chart will display only the values of the last 10 seconds...

Once I programmed some kind of module where I use a chart and not a graph, and the user can specify the interval of the absolute timestamp that is traced. If the data size is larger than the size of the chart in pixels, the module performs an average calculation in order to reduce the number of data points. Of course, if you need to see the raw data, you can specify an interval that is small. It all depends on how you program zoom functions, etc... In my case I hade a rate of 1 Hz, so I just kept all data in RAM limiting the berries to keep 24 hours of data, so that technicians could monitor the system. In your case, given the enormous amount of data, only a file read/write approach can work, if you really need access to all of the RAW data on the fly. But I hope that the values of working capital means will be enough?

  • Essential Kit for VMware

    Hello

I have VMware Essential kit, which applies for up to 3 servers or 6 processors. I have a doubt linked here:

Make VMware license key have any physical RAM limitation?

    Another doubt is:

The VMware license key limits 3 servers.

If I'm using vCenter server then, I can't use more than 3 servers under that.

    But,

I use VMware license key on more than 3 individual ESXi servers if, I'm not them including vCenter Server. It is the violation of license key?

    Thank you.

The license warning will be fixed in a patch.   ESXi does not license check against one "Internet Center" service so we can apply the same license for several hosts when not to use vCenter, but you are not legally allowed to do. ""

  • Oracle Express vs Enterprise?

    Hello

I was wondering if there is a record there about the differences between the various Oracle DBs. I couldn't find one yet.

I am mainly interested if there are any performance differences. If someone could point me in the right direction, it would be most appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi Sean,.

In addition to the terms of the license, you may take a look to the map comparison [url http://www.oracle.com/us/products/database/product-editions-066501.html] 11 g editions. It is always based on 10.2 XE, so you'll see the database size to be 4 GB in this document, although you can store up to 11GO in 11.2 XE and there are now 64-bit XE suppot. But basically, the feature list is always up to date.
As you talk about performance: you also have this CPU and RAM Limitation in the 10th, which probably has the greatest impact on performance...

  • SGA_TARGET and / 3 GB switch

    Hi all

We have Oracle 10g R1 installed on Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition SP1 with 4 GB of RAM installed.

We want to implement the/3 GB switch in the boot.ini file in Windows to increase the memory available for Oracle to 3 GB.

My question is: If I implmement the/3 GB switch, is still possible to use and set the SGA_TARGET?

Some people claim that I should turn off the automatic memory management and manually set areas for the buffer cache and the cache of the library.

I searched on the net and most of mixed articles this issue with AWE (Address Windowing Extensions). I do not implement the FEAR here, I just want to use the 3 GB of available RAM.

    Thanks in advance.

    OzOracle wrote:
    I intend to define SGA_TARGET = 1.6 GB and PAGA_AG... = 1 GB, is it safe?

You can then play very close to the error-prone area. I presume that you have arrived at these figures after some calculations and look ups.

To my knowledge, he leaves 400 MB to other applications and virtually, we have installed only Oracle and its control of database on this computer.

Lol its one by the process boundary. When you set the/3 GB switch in boot.ini, each process running on the system has the right to have the 3 GB address space. So if you have any other memory hungry/application running process, your body will suffer because of the RAM limitation physics and subsequent Exchange.
