Oracle Express vs Enterprise?

Hello

I was wondering if there is a record there about the differences between the various Oracle DBs. I couldn't find one yet.

I am mainly interested if there are any performance differences. If someone could point me in the right direction, it would be most appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi Sean,.

In addition to the terms of the license, you may take a look to the map comparison [url http://www.oracle.com/us/products/database/product-editions-066501.html] 11 g editions. It is always based on 10.2 XE, so you'll see the database size to be 4 GB in this document, although you can store up to 11GO in 11.2 XE and there are now 64-bit XE suppot. But basically, the feature list is always up to date.
As you talk about performance: you also have this CPU and RAM Limitation in the 10th, which probably has the greatest impact on performance...

  • Forms 12 c and Oracle Express?

Anyone know if the RCU for 12 c forms must be included in a database of Oracle Express? I would like to set up a development PC with forms 12 c but I don't want to put the UCR in my production database.

I remember the good old days of forms 10g with a single installer which could both install forms and reports more SSO with database included. The complexity and overhead of the new versions of forms makes it difficult to justify the upgrade for my business.

The repository database is necessary if you want to have a runtime environment.  You said that you don't want to have the repository schemas in the prod db to test your dev.  Do you use data from production to test your 'dev '?  It may be a good idea to have a database of development both for rest and data.  That said, the patterns of Repo are particularly well appointed, in order to install them in an existing db should not create a problem.

Oracle XE is not certified.  A list of databases that have been certified in the certification of products.

  • Oracle Express does not not at startup

    Hello

I need to analyze some things for my work and I decided to that home. To do this, I want to install Oracle Express 11 g on a desktop at home. I read that Oracle Express will be loaded at the start of the desktop computer and you can unload the database after the start. It's not what I really want. What I would like is that I can load Oracle Express the time I need, but have no active on other times.

Is it possible to configure Oracle Express like this. I already had a peek at the most common options, but I couldn't find anything (but maybe I just missing).

    Thank you

    Kind regards

    Rob.

You specify your operating system, assuming that Windows (if no, please specify): If Yes, you can

-Configure XE services such as manual

-create two bat icons on the desktop, for example

    • xe_start with the content

    net start OracleXETNSListener

    net start OracleServiceXE

    • xe_stop with the content

    net stop OracleXETNSListener

  • Oracle APEX Performance on Oracle Express Edition

    Hello

I was wondering if someone can help me, I'm looking to change my environment hosted on a virtual server. The server running VMWARE Windows 2012 R2 and Oracle Express Edition with the latest version of the APEX.

    The server would be:

    3Gig Ram

    25Gig storage

    1 virtual processor

Someone at - he no idea how it would perform? I currently have applications with up to 200 people using the system at a point in time. Performance is critical obviusly and I don't want this virtual solution if I'll take a drop in performance.

Just to clarify, the only reason why I'm looking to spend are all my clients are located in South Africa and I am currently hosted in the United Kingdom. The shift would be seriously reduced if I moved to accommodation in South Africa.

    Thanks in advance.

    Andrew

    Hi André,.

I did a few tests of performance and scalability with APEX on XE with JMeter (https://jmeter.apache.org/)

The limitation of the XE is mainly database size (I think only 11 GB for user data) and max 1 GB for the database altogether instance.

When you use the EPG of APEX I started to run into trouble after 20 + sessions at the same time.

When you use the earpiece of the APEX, I was able to push a tot of factor 2 3...

After that XE has usually crashed due to problems of memory.

Everything depends on the application and how active users are their session but more importantly could give you a good indication that XE isn't the way to go for 200 users working at the same time.

Maybe check jmeter (very easy) with your application and the config to see when it crashes. SE1 could also be a cheap alternative.

I am currently trying to learn the basics of Oracle Express, so I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question. I will now follow the tutorial and discovered that I can "t sort in descending order when you use the query designer. It won't let me select any other option but CSA under the sort type. I tried to use different browsers to see if that was the problem, but it's not. I know that I can just go and edit the SQL code to have it to do this, but it drives me crazy. Any ideas as to why the Query Builder doesn't let me choose a different sorting option?

Have you tried with the tab key to move to the sort field and using the arrow keys to change the sort order.

  • Deployment of Oracle Express and Java Application in a single installation

Is it possible to deploy a Java application using Oracle express as the back-end in an installation? So in other words, rather than the installation of oracle express separately from the application, we seek to install from an executable file, including the java application and all the necessary components for oracle express to run.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello

You can install the database using a response file. Depending on the setup of your Java application, you can create a sort of meta-Installer creates a response file for the database and a response/parameter file for your application setup program and then run both in a single step.
See the corresponding [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18802/toc.htm#BABCCGCF] section of the Setup Guide for more information about the answer file.

  • Link to database for MySQL with Oracle Express

    Hello Oracle Community,

I made a post on this topic already in the section general, but here is the best place for my question. My goal is to access a mysql to oracle server. Some info about my system and what I've done so far:

    Windows Vista 64-bit
    Oracle Express 10.2

-installed 32-bit DNS ODBC driver for the database mysql, tested and it succeeded, the name is CHANCE
    -created a new file in the folder admin/hs initLuck.ora, prameters are: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = CHANCE HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = OFF
    -new section in the listener.ora: (SID_DESC = (SID_NAME = CHANCE) (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server) (PROGRAM = hsodbc))
    -new section in my tnsnames.ora: CHANCE = (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp) (HOST = GOGAPC01001)(PORT = 1521)) (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = CHANCE)) (HS = OK))
    -inexplicable the listener
-Do a bit of luck, success of tnsping
    -created a link of database: CREATE DATABASE LINK LUCK24 CONNECT TO 'user' IDENTIFIED BY 'password' USING 'LUCK24 ';
    -tried to do a simple select statement: SELECT COUNT (*) FROM customers@LUCK;

and there I get an error message:

ORA-28500: connection between ORACLE and a non-Oracle system has sent this message:
[Generic connectivity using ODBC] [Microsoft] [ODBC driver manager] Der Datenquellenname wurde nicht found, und're wurde kein Standardtreiber angegeben (SQL State: IM002;) SQL Code: 0)
    ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines of LUCK24

    can anyone help?

    Ikrischer

    Ikrischer,
On which platform do you have installed the drivers 32 bit and HSODBC? He was on a Windows 32-bit platform? It is not supported to run the 32-bit software on a Windows 64-bit platform.
There were some problems with versions 10.2.0.3 and earlier that are similar to those you typo - problems with bigint and select count. These are laid down in the 10.2.0.4 group of patches, so you should apply to your ORACLE_HOME 10.2 directories and see if the problem still occurs.
However, as already said HSODBC 10.2 is now desupported you need to find to install 11.1.0.6 DG4ODBC and then apply the 11.1.0.7 patch group which also solves the problem.
If you have access to My Oracle Support then see this note.

Select columns MySQL Bigint use HSODBC returns an incorrect value when you use ODBC MySQL Connector (Doc ID 401086.1)

    Kind regards
    Mike
