RAM upgrade [DELL OptiPlex 320 Mini-Tower]

OK, said crucial, I can upgrade my pc to 4 GB, but only with 64-bit then... If for example... im actually uses 32 bit SO, ill buy a RAM of 2 GB, and I have a 512 MB... If I put 2 GB and 512 MB, will BE my 32 bit and my Optiplex 320 accept 2.5 GB of ram?

Another thing, I see that the momories of my ar pc2-4300, but essential pc comment but to accept pc2-4200, what's the difference?

We do not recommend that it works because it has not been tested but according to your discretion, you can try, but as you rightly noted that it might void the warranty with Dell.

  • 2nd disk on Dell OptiPlex 780 Mini-Tower

I want to install a 2nd SATA Seagate 148 gb SATA HDD on my OptiPlex 780 minitower. The drive is physically mounted in the machine and the power cable that extends from the disk HARD existing fits perfectly in place. I had to go buy a 18 "SATA 7 pin data Cable available from the drive to the motherboard.

Looks like there are two SATA containers-by-side in the middle section of the motherboard. A feed beige plastic and the other in black.

Does make a difference that the one that I use?

Is there another container, should I use instead of these?  Locate where?

After hanging hardware, what I need to do to get the machine to recognize the new HARD drive when booting?

    Thank you

The colors are to let you know which port is 0 then 1 then 2, then 3, etc. White port is #3 the orange cable goes from the optical drive sata 1 connector blue is the boot disk which is SATA 0. After connecting the power supply and data, you go into BIOS Setup and turn on SATA2.

  • Upgrade processor or motherboard on Dell Vostro 230 Mini-Tower

I have a Dell Vostro 230 Mini-Tower, and the vehicle currently has Intel Pentium E6500 processor. I would like to move on to something better, because my current processor does not meet the minimum requirements of some games I want to play. I was wondering what processor I could update? I know that the new processor has to adapt to the taking of the motherboard, but I don't know how to find out what socket has my current motherboard, or even what motherboard it is.

I would also like to know, if I upgrade the processor, but instead get a new motherboard, can't I get a motherboard and plug and it will come with a new processor, or he will have to adapt my current processor? Upgrading the motherboard makes much difference to the speed of CPU if I don't actually pass the processor?

I am running Windows SP3 & DirectX 11, with 4 GB of RAM, and I also have an ATI Radeon 5670 HD graphics card and a power of 300W.

I have to get a new power supply if I upgraded the motherboard or processor?

    Hello

I mentioned the list of processors that are also compatible with the Vostro 230 Mini-Tower.

  • OptiPlex 745 Mini-Tower - GFX card options?

    Hi all

I own an optiplex 745 Mini-Tower and I want to install a graphics card. I read the manual and it says that its PCI Express slot is 16 x but I could not find anywhere a response on whether it is compatible PCI-E 2.0 or 3.0. This makes the choice of a quite difficult graphics card. I read somewhere that if I install a 3.0 card gfx, it would be "backward compatible" feel, he would work on a 2.0 interface (isn't that backward compatibility option depends on the entirely gfx card?) Some cards him and others not so I'm not mistaken).

So, this is the case with this model, or it is indeed a 3.0 interface?

    Could I install a 3.0 card gfx or 2.0?

    Thank you.

    jdj9

PCI-E 1.0 or 2.0 are very good.  PCI-E 2.1 or 3.0 may or may not be backward compatible. Some R4 R5 R9 of R7 of Sapphire cards do seem to work in older systems like the precision, etc. 490.  I used an ASUS GDDR5 PCI-E 3.0 GT740 and it worked fine in my 745.

The problem is that the profile for the 16 x power plug changes with version 2.1 and 3.0.  In addition, Sapphire will show they don't support UEFI BIOS systems with their R series cards.

It is also why the older variety of version 1.0 or 2.0 cards often are not seen at all on the bus 3.0 on new computers.

The Asus EAH6450 works very well in all models of Dell, in that I have tried.

Not compatible with USFF or Micro because they have no slots.

The only new parameter is the secure boot must be extinguished and CSM on for some cards to post.

ASUS EAH 6450 SILENT card fits all models of Dell who have a Slot PCI - E, meaning that it does not work with USFF due to no expansion slot. The 6450 a 2 X the number of shaders as the 5450 doesn't.

(Cooler) higher performance can be had from ASUS GT740

3 & 4 usually diagnostic lights indicate a memory problem, see page 42 here:

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_optiplex_desktop/OptiPlex-3010_Owner%27s%20Manual2_en-us.PDF

First of all, try the following:

Remove and reinstall all memory modules and try to start the system, to see if that makes a difference.

Still does not start, remove all the memory modules [page 14] and then install only one module in the connector 1 and see if the system starts, and if the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module.
Do not start, move the module in slot 2 and still a time see if the system boots.

Still does not start, then remove the first module, and using the other, repeat the sequence described above.

Still does not start, purchase a new compatible memory module and try that.

Then, if the computer still does not start, it is possible that the motherboard has failed and must be replaced.

    Lonetrapper

This is false, as a greater power supply and can be installed.

Generic standard ATX power supplies, with a 24-pin or 20 + power connector 4 - pin main motherboard, with or without the on/off switch, would be compatible with the Vostro 220 Mini-Tower.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Need a power supply with four SATA power connectors.

  • Dell Optiplex 320 yet an another Question of Ram

    Hello

I have an Optiplex 320 and it seems do not like this kind of ram. I tried this and several other modules I had to hang out with the exact specifications of same. My question is, what makes Hynix so special that it works with the optiplex? Is there something owner seeks the mobo?

With the Hynix ram the machine starts fine, no problem. With the Kingston (and other brands) of PC2-5300 it don't POST and gives me the 1-3-2 beep code.

Here's what I did to solve problems. (I've got 2 identical Optiplex 320 I did this troubleshooting)

    • Reinstall and reinstall the modules of resettlement
    • Install the latest version of the BIOS. (ending in12)
    • Delete and remove cmos
    • I tried PC2-6400
    • CUSS at it
    • Deleted graphics card
    • Attempt 1 module at a time

    Basically, what is the difference?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Work RAM

    RAM does not

I mentioned that I'm a huge ASUS and Corsair fan. :-)  I swear by the two.

Corsair has a "memory Finder" page.
    See the link below.
Corsair has done the job to see what is compatible with common systems.  Of course, they have listed Dell systems.
That's what I used when getting memory for my 8900 XPS.

Yes, the DRAM is can be a huge pain for materials developers.  "Today", most hardware designers use models tested beforehand and DRAM pre-approved and layouts.  But not all of us have this chance.  There are times when custom DRAM controllers are needed.  And someone has to do the designs which use a lot of other hardware engineers. :-)  Then, the DRAM manufacturers provide detailed hardware simulation models and precise signal integrity models.

I'm a fan of Intel, not so much a fan of the DRAM factory.  So I look at it, it's basically like this, that the Intel chips have good tolerances.  This is the DRAM chips which vary tolerances and more.

Also, is the "fastest" DRAM * not * always work in a system that isn't spec'd for it.  The fastest DRAM also "can carry data more quickly after the clock (one of many waiting time parameters).  So in this case, it depends if that specific DRAM contains the data a bit longer (this fine and in spec), or this memory controller specific Intel is able to work with data held not valid so that requires the Intel specification.

Also, voltage, temperature, aging, all come into play in the electronics of the real life and tolerances.
Then, you can see why some people say "XYZ" works in _my_ system.  But, who can * not * always be the case with each system.  It can work in 90% of the systems, and then these 10% are screwed.  So this is why * I * have different opinions on which suggests improvements.
    * I * don't want these 10%, 20%, 70%, either, to screw.

I see the Corsair Memory recommended as work for? ~ 99.99%? of the people.  So, maybe 1 in 10,000 will be out of luck trying the upgrade?
My _guess_ is that Dell has between a 5-sigma and sigma-6 rates of their PC and max upgrades memory failure.

    5-sigma failure rate: 0.023% (99.977 good)
    6-sigma failure rate: 0.00034% (99.99966 good)

Hello, I just want to ask if my office compatitble with graphics PowerColor Radeon HD 6450?

Yes. The 6450 has low power requirements and in fact I have one installed in my Vostro 220 s Slim Tower, which has a power supply even lower than that of your mid-turn.

For what it's worth, I had a 6450 working in a mini-ITX with 220-watt power supply. I had no problems with stability.

  • Install a second hard drive on Optiplex 780 Mini-Tower

I recently bought an Optiplex 780 minitower with Windows 7 DellRefurbished.com and I am happy with the machine. I would now like to add a second SATA hard drive that I bought, for which a power connector is available in the machine (the current hard drive is 250G and so is the other, I want to install.)

However, the two ports of SATA cable on the motherboard are used, one for the existing drive and one for the CD - DVD drive. I understand that there may be a separator for a SATA data cable (as there were once two connections on some slick IDE cables).

According to Belarc Advisor, the jury is Dell 0C27VV A03. Is it possible to install a second hard drive using a USB-to-SATA cable to the CD - DVD drive or the second hard drive? If so, set up a card with an internal USB connection USB PCI adapter? (I have more open slots). Or is there already a USB connection on the motherboard?

Any advice, including suggestions on the parts that I need to get, are appreciated. I see that I can buy a USB-to-SATA cable that has two USB connectors and two sets of pins of connection to the hard drive. I assume that one of the USB connections is for power to the player. I wouldn't need, because the connection of the power supply is already here and elsewhere I wonder if I can get two the casing with a PCI card USB connections. Is there a USB-to-SATA cable with only the connection of data on the disk?

The Manual explains the minitower 780 has 4 ports SATA motherboard and 2 interns, so you drive bays devriez have a place to plug in a second hard drive. (The desktop systems and small form factor 780 have 3 SATA ports). Unfortunately, the manual has a diagram of motherboard layout, so I don't know where the 2 other ports would be.

The motherboard is compatible SATA1a and SATA2. A SATA3 drive must be retro-compatible with a SATA2 motherboard, but won't work on SATA2 data transfer speed. So the price of a SATA2 drive vs a SATA3 drive and the potential future use could be considerations.

If you think that you will - eventually - upgrading to a new PC with a card mother SATA3, the new system would be able to handle the maximum speed of a SATA3 drive, but only works at speed SATA2 with a SATA2 drive.

You will need to buy a data cable SATA for your new hard drive, but it's only a little extra money...

If the manual is not correct (?) on the number of ports SATA on the motherboard, the system is supposed to have an on the rear panel eSATA port, so you can connect a player external eSATA HARD drive as an alternative.

  • Reference Dell optiplex 320 running windows xp lost all sounds

Recently, I lost all sound, I tried to uninstall & reinstall my audio drivers

but continues to come up with the error code 39, when I try to reinstall or update the drivers

It is also in place with the wizard is unable to find a better match for your hardware

the currently installed software? All popular solutions

It's no big thing to go on so only ideas in time...

A 39 error means that your drivers are somehow corrupt.

According to Dell, your audio drivers are here:

    http://support.Dell.com/support/downloads/DriversList.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=Gen&SystemID=PLX_PNT_320&OS=WW1&OSL=en

Since there is only one choice for the audio drivers, when you got the drivers you trying to install?

If this is not the place, which is the first place you should look for drivers.

I uninstall the old driver first (from Device Manager), download the new drivers and run the downloaded driver. File EXE from the site of Dell and make what is said.

If your system uses to work properly, what do you think has happened since the last time, he did not work properly?
